MG ZS EV | Still a good buy?

- The MG ZS EV has proved a big hit in the Irish market. It could very well be the best value EV currently available. But it has been out about a year now, so we want to know is it still a good buy?
Blake has spent about 3 weeks with this car, and covered over 2,000km in that time. He shares his thoughts on range, power, acceleration, comfort, space and practicality, value, charging, the MG Pilot system & more!

I really love mine. Live in Norway, had it for 7 months now, through the good range summer months and driving around in -8C now, mostly short distances, and it heat up right away. Though the range is cut, but not bad at all. Longer trips with heated battery from the beginning would most likely have done better, but short distance is what it is. Practical with 480 liter trunk space, ready for roof clams or towing, it really sold me on practicality. Easy to start up, easy to drive.
It has one premium feature that you wont find on many luxury cars these days: Buttons. Physical pushy buttons. And you have the choice, if you only want to use touch you can that too.

Great review. I found that most people compare the MG ZS EV to car's way more expensive, but like you mentioned: You can't be nitpicking at this price. We ordered a car (EV Luxury Long Range) Testdriving it before we ordered we were surprised. It handled well. Physical buttons are great and the space is more then enough for the two of us. The panoramic sunroof is great and the sound system good enough with 6 speakers. From the money we safe getting this car we can easily take a three week vacation (all inclusive) for the next two years. So a no brainer for us.
Had my Trophy LR with Pan roof 5 weeks now - superb car!!!
Covered 700+ miles on less than £3 of charging cost....

We have had our Standard Range in black since May and its a brilliant car. There are some quirks, like some info on the screen being in a very small font but Id be nitpicking. Motor is really brisk and a hoot to drive. Has been flawless since we got it.

I'm just about to collect my short range zsev up. I ordered in March 22 and the garage called as they had a cancellation car available. If I wanted my original colour I was looking at another 6 months plus this is a uk order. Thanks for the review it's been helpful. Keep up the great work

very good and honest review i like the fact that you don't relate to it as if we were buying a 100K car and expect it to be perfect . i have ordered mine in June and hope to get it by December January fingers crossed i can't wait

Ordered my ZS EV long range trophy connect in UK in January still waiting MG are hopeless giving you any delivery info , if you ordered one of these in the UK before 1st July 2022 you will still get the electric sunroof . I have stopped and spoke to 4 people in car parks who have taken delivery of this car , not one single person disappointed in the car, they all told me you will absolutely love it, just need my hands on it now , happy motoring everyone.

Just had word this week that I’ll have to wait a further 40 weeks plus for mine! I’m going to cancel and go plug-in-hybrid
I’ve had a silver Zs Ev trophy long range connect on order since jan 2022 still no idea when I’ll get it. Company car by the way. Maybe still waiting until the new year no doubt

Good review. That Pan roof is not available now on any UK MGZS models which is a real shame & a deal breaker for me. I'll be looking for a used model or another used brand EV altogether when I buy our first EV next year. Also, the supply issues are resulting in loads of cancelled MGZS orders some of which are switching to MG4 or 5 models instead. Is it just me or does the MGZS look under-wheeled? By that I mean the wheels / tyres are too small for the size of the wheel arch which makes it look top heavy.

It's such a shame they've stopped shipping the Exclusive (Trophy in the UK) without the panoramic sunroof. I've been driving a Qashqai with sunroof for 13 years, I wouldn't look back (up maybe). Yeah, it's a deal-breaker, particularly as the price has crept up while the spec has dropped. They'll have a new facelift on the same modular EV platform as the MG4 in the next 2/3 years. I think I'll wait until then. Hopefully they'll have the sunroofs back.
Yeah, this car is at the end of its life on the press fleet so still had all the bells and whistles. Will be interesting to see what they do on that dedicated platform for sure! Thanks Brian!

No sunroof in Ireland from July '22 and no delivery date since October.😢

I've been waiting so long for my ZS EV LR in the UK, that I'm watching a video 'still a good deal' I'm still hoping I can answer this before the years out.

Such a shame that MG lowered the spec by removing the roof , but increased the price. I sadly chose the long range trophy as a company car just before the far superior new Hyundai Kona came out at a similar price
