You don't poke the lead through the hole in the mat. Use a credit card or something similar to lift the mat out. (It's held in by plugs underneath.) You then bring the cable up through the base and the rubber mat has a slit between the hole and the edge allowing you to slip it around the cable, before refitting the mat.

Great car, I’ve got the Trophy version in Camden Grey. To feed the cables up you can use a credit card to remove the rubber mat then the cables feed through the holes easily.

I have an MG and the physical car and driving experience is excellent. The car is responsive, performance is more than acceptable. I love the feel and shape of the steering wheel. It has a comfortable spacious cabin and the back seats have loads of leg room. What lets it down is the software which has a laundry list of usability issues and bugs to it. I hope they correct these faults in due course, but it's very frustrating (for example) to see the car flick between day & night mode when the car drives in and out of shade, or for the car to start up in normal mode when I want it to default to Eco, or to enable lane keeping assist when I want the default to be off, or for the bluetooth to sometimes be silent, or android auto to suddenly go blank (and where is wireless android auto?), or for the home page to be cluttered, or the energy graph stuff to be confusing, and... it goes on and on. So summary - excellent car and driving, annoying software.

Too many gadgets on modern cars, this is no exception, when you should be concentrating on safe driving. The lane assist is just moronic. However I do like the car in general. One thing worth mentioning is the type of battery LFP on the 51kw but the less desirable NMC on the 64kw battery.

I’ve spoken to MG PR about their hot hatch Version that is coming out with over 400bhp, which will be amazing I think, super excited for that. I know about the launch of smaller mg3 car which won’t be called that and the facelift of the HS and the ZS getting a facelift too probably to look more like the MG4, brilliant if the mg4 is getting an update soon. The iD3 isn't 36k for a similar spec, it's much closer to 50k! That's because the iD3 comes with virtually NOTHING on the spec sheet. In order to match the specs of the MG4, you have to throw a shit ton of cash at it.
Even the really hot version of the 4 is cheaper than the id3, and that one does 0-60 in under 4 seconds. And if the 77kWh iD3 interests you, MG has a 77kWh version ready for release (it's already available in some markets).
Oh, and top spec 4s can be specced with a much more attractive interior in some markets (not sure about the UK).

Had one 6 months trophy. They are great for the money. If they can work out some higher quality seats and larger wheels this thing would be an awesome car. Everything else is really good. All the money is in the tech. We see them rolling out nicer seats they’ve nailed it. The tech is a generation on from petrol cars. Go look. I prefer it to the id3. And it’s cheaper so go buy something else with your savings. But all EVs suffer charging so be aware!

No rear wiper, no grab handles & no rear passenger lighting makes it very dark in the back for mums & baby seats in winter. No sunroof option either. Also no rear centre headrest means it's really only a 4 seater for a cabbie, who will probably be better off with an MG5. Lack of heated seats & steering wheel on the SE is also a bit poor, should be standard on all EV's. That said the MG4 is still a compelling package for some but not for me. Even the base model is out of my price range so I'll be looking for a 2-3 year old used facelift Kona Ultimate for our 1st EV which has everything covered.

@CarChatTV Yes i was very tempted by the X power version but i would be concerned about the range of it as i believe thay use the same battery as the long range version but with twice the power the range would be significantly shorter. which would affect my use as i do a 100 Mile trip once a fortnight to see a friend so to have the X power model i would need it to have at least a 130Kwh battery. but over 400bhp could make for some fun driving!!

It also has keyless entry, which i find very usefull. I have been driving it quite alot and i have only used 24% of the battery which was a bonus as it was supplied with a full charge. All my charging will be done at 7.5p per Kwh so i will be getting 250 miles for approximately £5.00 which is alot cheaper than my previous ICE car i used to get only 45 miles for a tenner as the car would only do 30 MPG.

I love this car but the software and support are awful.
The headlights are abysmal and the main beam and dipped beam are pointing in different directions.
It drops the phone connection at least once per week and that is a major issue if you are driving.
It regularly tells me that I have low pressure on left right rear tyre but the onboard display tells me it is normal. This hangs around for a couple of days and then disappears to reappear 2 days later.
It is a tardis. It regularly tells me it is 1st February 2019.. Wow!

  • @robbara9924
    @robbara9924 Год назад +1

The bonus here is rear wheel drive.. why cant all EV's be rear wheel drive? which allows for better handling and lower maintenance (rubber boot replacements). However, in my opinion this is not a "cheap" car to buy... here in Australia I would call a Kia Picanto (around AUD$21k) a cheap car, not a AUD$40 to S45K for a car with glitchy software, that one reviewer has said in certain circumstances is borderline dangerous. And I agree with your dad, small letters or symbols are not for us "oldies" with less than perfect eyesight. And it may also be worth mentioning that to get the maximum charge rate to an EV at home, here in Australia one needs to spend about AUD $ 3,000 for a a state of the art electrical EV power outlet. I am looking at buying an EV, but in my opinion, currently here in Australia, an ICE is better value with possibly less hassles. Maybe I need to be looking at EV's from a different perspective??

It's not a cheap car, it's a cheap EV. A stage 2 charger can be got for AUD 2000 if needed. Try an EV before your next comment perhaps? Personally I think that the BYD Atto 3 is better than the MG, provided you get rid of the awful Chinese tyres. Be interesting to see what the hyper cheap BYD Dolphin is like when it is available.

This stupidity of this comment amazes me. Every car out there has chinese made part and most euro manfacturers use chinese ev batteries and build models in china. Its a global industry now. And one other thing, my new MG 4 has excellent build quality , not something i can say about cars coming out of UK factories.
