Grimderp is just realpolitik most of the time lol, in reality Karl's lack of willingness to assume power would spell the end of his rise to the hands of those who were willing & able to take the throne by any means; if not him just being assassinated the moment his father dies. Laggards and second-guessers don't last long in a power-vacuum, much less one for an empire; and this guy needed someone else to convince him, such is his lack of self-confidence. If anything, him turning out to be some master statesman behind it all is grimderp (or at the very least, derp)

Back in one of the issues of White Dwarf Karl Franz had a special rules that once per battle phase he could say a prayer to Sigmar, who then turned all his stats to 10 for that phase. This was back in the day where having 10 in all stats allowed him to easily bulldoze everything, so even if you have a nice ward save you'll be getting your ass kicked. That other lady in the painting might be Karl Franz' sister. In the Gotrek & Felix novel Skavenslayer it's mentioned (according to Lexicanum in chapter 1, and they're sticklers for details like that) that Thanquol tried to manipulate the head of Nuln's secret police into arresting Karl Franz' brother-in-law, which would necessitate him having a sister.

In-laws were historically the family you joined via marriage, so if you were a man who married a woman, her brother would be your brother-in-law, her mother, your mother-in-law. And you’d be their brother-in-law or son-in-law. Similarly, a person marrying into your family would your in-law, but usually only that person. So, if Karl Franz has a married sister, her husband would be his brother-in-law, but her father would be his sister’s father-in-law.
Karl is cool because he's ultimately just a guy. He's not a 10000 year old demigod who can destroy a million demons with the swing of his sword. He's just a human dude who rose to power in his kingdom. And despite all that, he's holding his kingdom together against the billion year old evil gods of horrible doom and destruction and their armies of whatever trillion demon entities of a quadrillion star destroyers. Karl is cool because he's grounded.

Think the immortal Empires trailer perfectly encapsulates Karl Franz. At the meeting he is perhaps the most normal and least powerful powerful person there. Everyone else are powerful magic wielders, half dragons, ancient races some older than the empire itself or empowerment by god with superhuman abilities and expanded lifespans. Yet every single person there listens to Karl Franz and respects him and when they start bickering he is the one that unites them all.
Its his "Mudaneness" that what makes him be respected by his Pears who tend to be much stronger than him, He is just a Normal Human but he still managed to keep his State intact despite the many Internal and External Theats it has, something his pears can admire and respect, he may not be as powerful as them but what little Karl can do he managed to do it despite that.

An artillery line helps. Though if the crew has no will and can’t tell what end of the shell goes first or even what direction to point the gun you are in about the same situation as an elite Xeno against a named Space Marine without a helmet.

What about Magnus the Pious. The man that reunited the Empire after about three hundred years of civil war, got the blessing of all the major gods of the Empire and then killed the Everchosen. All without having Galmaraz or a Runefang.
I recall a scene from when Orion saved the life of Franz. That battle was actually caused by the Asrai flooding a river to get the beastmen to piss off and about halfway through the Asrai were getting ready to return to Athel Loren and leave the lumber foots to their fate. As they were getting ready to leave one of Orion's outriders asked how long could this world endure if they let heros like Franz die. Orion looked at her with so much anger she feared he was going to strike her down on the spot. Orion then laughed smiled and proceeded to blow the horn of the wild hunt the loudest it's ever sounded, before fighting his way to the unconscious form of the emperor. For hours and through his current incarnation taking several borderline mortal wounds Orion defended the fallen emperor until the minotaurs consumed in their bloodlust failed to see that the rest of the warheard had routed and were subsequently cut down. For as long as the weave endures so shall the Empire. Long Live Athen Loren, Long live the Empire! (yeah in case you haven't noticed I'm a bit of a hippy stand sue me)
There is another connection between Robute and Karl. Both had been saved by Elfs. Robute was reawakened by and Eldari and Karl's life was saved by Asrai on two seperate occasions.

Seriously though the only acceptable explanation for him not heading the Stormcast Eternals would be that after the End Times his soul fused with Sigmar himself... Karl Franz was the reason I got into Total War Warhammer, I knew nothing about Warhamer Fantasy before that campaign but after summoning the Elector Counts and crushing everyone who opposed me I fell in love with the beautiful bastard. There is none greater, there will be none greater, he is a man who has achieved everything through his own merit and by the blessings of Sigmar.
Imagine the faces of those soldiers as they watch Karl split the skull of the warchief, the entire field of armies shocked out of their gourd. Then the slow and climbing roar, rippling out from every man. Their eyes burning bright and their minds made clear and true. The entirety of their rage and fury barreling down on the orks, now properly frightened at the sight.
One of my favorite things about our boy is how good of a balance he strikes between capable on his own, but still needs the help of others. Too many characters go too far on one way or the other, where they seem completely ineffectual without someone else’s help, or so ridiculously powerful they make everything boring.
This is a interesting thing, because earlier, I was just having a dream where I attended a Convention dressed as Karl Franz in full plate, made from Cardboard, so I could actually move, and was talking to other con goers thinking about making Karl's Griffon mount for my next con. It's almost like it's meant to be, I should also mention every where I went I screamed, "SUMMON THE ELECTOR COUNTS!" with applause usually. lol

Always enjoyed how in the Ambassador Chronicles the protagonist talk about Franz, its like his actions and speech have sold such a strong goal for the empire that every common men can only see him in admiration and wishing to fulfill that goal.
The only other person that could be the Celestant Prime is the Abbot that cut Kemmler from the Wind of Death. But I personally think the Prime’s a fusion of the two. Think of it as Powermaster Optimus Prime, if Karl is Optimus, then the Abbot is Hi-Q.

I only recently discovered this channel a few months ago and I honestly prefer 40k’s lore and setting, but I am very excited for this video, and am glad I was there when it first premiered.
I prefer 40k too, but i genuinely do like fantasy too. Gives you a bit more of a closer perspective, easier to relate to ya know. Hard to place myself in a galaxy where 1 guy can choose to blow up planets with billions of people, meanwhile i can understand killing a village of chaos worhsippers and such. And its fun to see the demons in a medieval setting where people are forced to fight with a sharp stick

karl is the celestant prime for one simple reason, in AOS they say that the celestant prime was a king that in the "world that was" previously held the ghal maraz. That only leave 2 candidates, magnus and karl, who is more iconic? exactly
To add to things; When Sigmar made the Celetant prime, he didnt wake up. He just was laying on the table, even though sigmar put a *stupid* amount of personal effort, nothing he did would revive Prime. Until they found Ghal-maraz, and lay it with Prime. This immediately woke him up and set him off to work. And this is the same hammer that Franz wielded, as that was specifically called out/referenced iirc. Also, Prime is a diplomat along with being funny stormcast warrior king man. He talks directly with other important members of order factions, though of course AoS is a bit smoooooth brain with how things go around soo yea.
There has been rumors that GW might bring back the original Warhammer universe (maybe to exist as an alternate universe alongside Age of Sigmar?) If so, that would be fantastic as I really love the incredible history of the Empire.

Last time I was thoroughly up on Warhammer cannon (no pun intended) was in the early teens, nearly a decade ago. So, yeah. Glad to hear that the Old World is coming back. Grimderp is just realpolitik most of the time lol, in reality Karl's lack of willingness to assume power would spell the end of his rise to the hands of those who were willing & able to take the throne by any means; if not him just being assassinated the moment his father dies. Laggards and second-guessers don't last long in a power-vacuum, much less one for an empire; and this guy needed someone else to convince him, such is his lack of self-confidence.

Back in one of the issues of White Dwarf Karl Franz had a special rules that once per battle phase he could say a prayer to Sigmar, who then turned all his stats to 10 for that phase. This was back in the day where having 10 in all stats allowed him to easily bulldoze everything, so even if you have a nice ward save you'll be getting your ass kicked.
That other lady in the painting might be Karl Franz' sister. In the Gotrek & Felix novel Skavenslayer it's mentioned (according to Lexicanum in chapter 1, and they're sticklers for details like that) that Thanquol tried to manipulate the head of Nuln's secret police into arresting Karl Franz' brother-in-law, which would necessitate him having a sister.

He's just a human dude who rose to power in his kingdom. And despite all that, he's holding his kingdom together against the billion year old evil gods of horrible doom and destruction and their armies of whatever trillion demon entities of a quadrillion star destroyers. Karl is cool because he's grounded.

At the meeting he is perhaps the most normal and least powerful powerful person there. Everyone else are powerful magic wielders, half dragons, ancient races some older than the empire itself or empowerment by god with superhuman abilities and expanded lifespans. Yet every single person there listens to Karl Franz and respects him and when they start bickering he is the one that unites them all.
Its his "Mudaneness" that what makes him be respected by his Pears who tend to be much stronger than him,
He is just a Normal Human but he still managed to keep his State intact despite the many Internal and External Theats it has, something his pears can admire and respect, he may not be as powerful as them but what little Karl can do he managed to do it despite that.

His achievements are too many to count, his badassery is legendary, he is the only person who can tell the Wood Elves to "Shut the fuck up and get out of your room" and get them to actually be useful in any meaningful way.

I recall a scene from when Orion saved the life of Franz. That battle was actually caused by the Asrai flooding a river to get the beastmen to piss off and about halfway through the Asrai were getting ready to return to Athel Loren and leave the lumber foots to their fate. As they were getting ready to leave one of Orion's outriders asked how long could this world endure if they let heros like Franz die. Orion looked at her with so much anger she feared he was going to strike her down on the spot. Orion then laughed smiled and proceeded to blow the horn of the wild hunt the loudest it's ever sounded, before fighting his way to the unconscious form of the emperor. For hours and through his current incarnation taking several borderline mortal wounds Orion defended the fallen emperor until the minotaurs consumed in their bloodlust failed to see that the rest of the warheard had routed and were subsequently cut down.

Karl Franz was the reason I got into Total War Warhammer, I knew nothing about Warhamer Fantasy before that campaign but after summoning the Elector Counts and crushing everyone who opposed me I fell in love with the beautiful bastard. There is none greater, there will be none greater, he is a man who has achieved everything through his own merit and by the blessings of Sigmar.
Also helps that he was born into a powerful Noble Family, but yes, Merit.

One of my favorite things about our boy is how good of a balance he strikes between capable on his own, but still needs the help of others. Too many characters go too far on one way or the other, where they seem completely ineffectual without someone else’s help, or so ridiculously powerful they make everything boring.
This is a interesting thing, because earlier, I was just having a dream where I attended a Convention dressed as Karl Franz in full plate, made from Cardboard, so I could actually move, and was talking to other con goers thinking about making Karl's Griffon mount for my next con. Always enjoyed how in the Ambassador Chronicles the protagonist talk about Franz, its like his actions and speech have sold such a strong goal for the empire that every common men can only see him in admiration and wishing to fulfill that goal.
The only other person that could be the Celestant Prime is the Abbot that cut Kemmler from the Wind of Death. But I personally think the Prime’s a fusion of the two. Think of it as Powermaster Optimus Prime, if Karl is Optimus, then the Abbot is Hi-Q.

I think it’s about time that the Horus/Abbadon/Lorgar/Huron Blackheart of Fantasy, figurehead of Chaos(excluding Daniel, Wulfrik, and Belakor), and harbinger of both Storm of Chaos and the Endtimes, for better and worse(mostly worse), finally got his time to shine.

I only recently discovered this channel a few months ago and I honestly prefer 40k’s lore and setting, but I am very excited for this video, and am glad I was there when it first premiered.

karl is the celestant prime for one simple reason, in AOS they say that the celestant prime was a king that in the "world that was" previously held the ghal maraz. That only leave 2 candidates, magnus and karl, who is more iconic? exactly
He's like the Germanic version of King Arthur, only he didn't get cucked by his best knight.
To add to things; When Sigmar made the Celetant prime, he didnt wake up. He just was laying on the table, even though sigmar put a *stupid* amount of personal effort, nothing he did would revive Prime. Until they found Ghal-maraz, and lay it with Prime. This immediately woke him up and set him off to work. And this is the same hammer that Franz wielded, as that was specifically called out/referenced iirc.
Also, Prime is a diplomat along with being funny stormcast warrior king man. He talks directly with other important members of order factions, though of course AoS is a bit smoooooth brain with how things go around soo yea.

There has been rumors that GW might bring back the original Warhammer universe (maybe to exist as an alternate universe alongside Age of Sigmar?) If so, that would be fantastic as I really love the incredible history of the Empire.

Last time I was thoroughly up on Warhammer cannon (no pun intended) was in the early teens, nearly a decade ago. So, yeah. Glad to hear that the Old World is coming back. Of course, for Blood Bowl fans, it never actually left.

I think the only reason why Sigmar took over his body and hasn't brought him back is because he doesn't want the competition of a mortal who would do a much better job.
