The funniest part of the whole "dies by forgetting to close the door" thing is that one Snikch's scarce stories in the lore is him killing a wizard inside a room locked from the inside while leaving no signs of entry or exit. The writer could have literally just had him show up inside the room to shank Thorgrim while making no mention of leaving the door open and it would have been less stupid.

There was this cool story in there where his army was fighting skaven. The throne bearers were carrying Thorgrim in to the thick of the fighting and were getting chewed up by skaven blades. The throne healed them and they began hacking and carving their way through again. I just completely fell in love at that moment. I wanted that model SO BAD but all I had were about ten troll slayers and my dwarf book. Never really could affor WHFB. Thank sigmar for Total War though. The most infuriating thing about thorgrims assassination is they did nothing interesting with it. They took a master assassin who’s WHOLE THING is murdering people silently without notice and just had him go through a door and shank the guy. No epic battle where their ability eventually wears him down, just OOPS I forgot to close the dooooor! And now one of the most influential characters is dead. Way to go end times writers! Way to go.

If you find him he will make your beards, eyebrows, unibrow, hair, anything in pristine condition, he don’t charge much for it no matter the setting he charges 1 gold per customer. And there’s a buff I give to each player who received the treatment “Bogwon’s Blessing” increasing fortitude against negative affects and making you more resistant to fatigue.

    Ok, let's clear up the mountain of misunderstandings about Thorgrims death;
    1) His armour was indeed superb at stopping stabs, it easily repelled an earlier assassination attempt. But these were new triple warpforge warpstone daggers made in the Horned Rats own real for this purpose alone. This is stated literally in the text.
    2) Thorgrim never were the Incarnat of Metal, the Wind bound itself to the High Throne and left as the Rune of Eternity broke in the final battle. So Thorgrim had no power up anymore.
    3) The Deathmaster was helped in climbing the full hight of Everpeak itself to hid near the Personal Mountainpeak balcony of the High King. This was only possible by the aid of a Verminlord.
This room and balcony was exclusively known to the High King, they always came there to mourn alone, so Thorgrim had no guards.
The famous door was the Door back down into the Mountain Fortress, The Deathmaster used Thorgrims death to summon an army, and they infiltrated the Mountain through that door.
Thorgrim didn't die, because he left that door open! The Mountain fell because he didn't think to close it immediately after arriving in the chamber.
    Hope this clears things up!

The whole issue of Thorgrim death is more an issue of Snitch, if you ask me. That character has no depths (in warhammer, so that's saying something), no flaws, no nothing, is not even a character, it's literally a plot device to kill people, and they used it to kill Thorgrim, so off course it would be infuriating no matter what, cause Snitch it's not a character. "Assassinated by Snitch" has the same lore significance as saying that a rock fallen on the head of Thorgrim and murdered him.

To clear some things up about the end times part:
Thorgrim had the ancestor ruins on him but they had faded and couldn’t protect him after the last battle he fought. Most of the ruins where tied to his Throne and axe.
The lore of metal was tied to his throne or armour in the book and the like the ancestor ruins once it was damaged it started not working as well which was kind of how Thorgrim was wounded in the battle previous to the assassination.
Another point is that Thorgrim had been wounded and was struggling to climb stairs and even breath. He had gone to the sacred hall of kings where only he was allowed to visit hence him not having guards.
The whole “leaving the back door open” thing is kind of dramatized where the balcony he was looking over was supposed to be invisible thanks to concealing runes. However the skaven had spied this place out via Verminlord magic and send the Deathmaster to wait for days until Thorgrim would be vulnerable. So while you could tldr it into “oops I left the door open” Thorgrim was insanely tired and already fading in and out of consciousness from his wounds.
The Deathmaster did not slip out after beheading the King however and stayed around to draw ruins to summon something or teleport maybe… I can’t remember which.

A behaviour you see in birds is preening, picking fleas and other parasites off themselves with their beaks. There are parts of a bird which it's beak can't reach. For this reason, many species of birds will often clean socially. One bird will preen one's hard to reach parts and then receiving the same treatment. The thing is that such activity is not free. If nothing else it takes time. As such, there is a potential for abuse, where a bird indicates that it would accept a preening, gets preened and does not reciprocate.
Imagine there is two types of otherwise identical birds called Chumps and Cheaters. They differ in that the Chump will preen any bird that comes it's way. The Cheater will receive a preening, but won't provide one. If a Cheater meets a Cheater, they won't do anything for each other. But if a Cheater meets a Chump, the Chump will preen the Cheater and the Cheater will then leave. The Chump has wasted time and effort while the Cheater has an advantage. In general this means that eventually the Cheaters will outbreed the Chumps and replace them. But when the Chumps go extinct, the Cheaters will suffer since there are no Chumps to Preen them.
For this reason, a viable strategy is that of the Grudger. The Grudger will preen other birds but if a bird refuses to reciprocate it will never preen that bird again. The Grudgers in this case will soon out-compete both Cheaters and Chumps.
A test of such strategies was formulated in the 1980s, in which a set of strategies would play each other over numerous rounds of the Prisoner's Dilemma game (two people can either cooperate or defect, if both cooperate they get each get 4, if one defects and the other cooperates the defector gets 6 and cooperator gets 1, if both defect they both get 2). This lead people to formulate a variety of strategies, some of which were nasty and exploitative and would often defect. The Grudger strategy (cooperate at first with someone, but only defect afterwards) was deployed, but was far from the most effective. The really nasty exploitative strategies were consistently in the bottom. The most effective strategy was Tit for Tat: start cooperating and mimic what they do the next round.
These studies and the principles of Game Theory out lie the evolution of Social and Moral behavior.
