B58 GOAT and his transitions are an art-form I strive to emulate in my daily life.
You can swap the coil pack from another working cylinder, to tell if it's the spark plug or the coil pack.

Gen 1 B58 with 120k miles. Stock coils still 💪🏽
Had that code when I first bought my car. Had the dealer replace plugs and coils so I didn't narrow it down but it was fixed before I took it home.

Hello Kern and thank you for your time and knowledge of our engines, this is a bit off of topic so I’m sorry. Have you looked into interchiller. It looks like it would integrate very nice to the b58 setup. I’m in Alaska so the heat is not as much of an issue for me but I think it would be a great mod for people in hot climates as a consistency mod. Thanks again I’m a new B58 owner.
Kern can you make a vid about strut bars/braces? I haven't seen you mention them on suspension related videos
I've learned from Engineering Explained that strut tower bars/braces are especially effective on Macpherson strut type suspensions, like we have on our cars in the front

I had a coil pack go bad on my 2018 340i. It was odd as it was only under acceleration. Idle it was nonexistent. I had just watched his video on the cam bridge crack through the oil passage. That crack is most often found on the cylinder 1 and it causes misfires. Mine being on cylinder one as well, I was quite worried. Luckily, it was just the coil pack. Hopefully I can put some minds at ease for anyone going through something similar.

I picked up a 440i last month and it’s awesome.
Eldor coils ftw. BN coils gave me a drivetrain malfunctions and misfires.
BN charge pipe fit horribly on my 540 and I sent proof they didn’t care

SO what's the MTBF in the fleet though? We know anecdotally and some extremes, but I'm thinking it's heat related given the discussion about the turbo location and I'd expect to see a fairly close distribution of times.
Been having code 150C14 cylinder 4 out of tolerance code pop up from time to time. Car drives fine. Could it be the ignition coil?

What would an “upgraded” tstat do? You want one that opens at a lower temp?
@@sbeezynukkadon’t even need that because you can just have your tuner program it to target lower temps… and MHD as a adjustment for it called Max cooling mode

I think he means the plug in tweekers that fool the ECU to get the tables more favorable for spark advance and fuel. Since there is no actual thermostat anymore, but a sensor. Tell the ECU it's cooler than it is and the algorithm will back the tables off in favor of better performance and efficiency. BMW has always programmed a lot of safety margin in for temps. It was downright annoying in the N54 /N55s
