Great vid as always! Have you done a video talking about tire and wheel setups? I know there’s endless options boiling down to personal preference, but to go through some common setups, the best for the stock wheels, and your personal setup would be pretty cool.
Hey Kern! I recently replaced my torn PCV diaphragm and my oil filter housing. I assume I should probably check spark plugs. Any other additional maintenance I should probably do? So far I've only changed the oil after the oil filter housing replacement bc of the coolant leak. Thanks brother.
Okay so just to make sure I got it right and dont miss anything, whats the torque spec for the spark plugs? And what is proper plug gap for my gen 1 b58 tuned on MHD ots maps. Thanks for your content!!!
Should I still change my plugs to new ones even if the injector is stuck open? Or should I wait until I replace the injector and then change the spark plug?
@@kern417 And usually misfires are one of the possible indicators of that? I ask because some forums mention changing coils at 100k or at 50k if tuned.
Hello, my bmw G32 630i b48 has black smoke in the exhaust end, and with an obd tool, I found the mix ratio goes 0.9 around right after engine braking and slightly accelerating. In idling or just re-accelerating while running without engine brake, these have 1.0 ratio. And 1.0 at normal running and full acceleration. What do you think is wrong? The dealer says no problem if no diagnostic error in the display. In that condition, the intake pressure shows slightly lower than atm. pressure. I think the throttle is opening less in that case. Then the fuel injection accordong to the MAP should have been adjusted. very strange, I guess this is inherent in software itself. I am gping to replace the plugs first, because the car has 55K km milages
Hey man nice video as usual, im MHD stage 2+ with TU pump and I had regaped my plugs to .22 for the setup... should I return to stock? I'm on factory Champion plugs with 18k miles. Thanks!
Is there anywhere you can buy the clips for the coil connector? Brittle plastic broke last time I did the plugs and I hate having the possibility of it coming unplugged
Question about the foam. Does the foam covering the back of the engine really matter? I thought maybe there were some insulating attributes to it as well. I've been contemplating to leave it or take it out. Sound wise having the engine cover on or off makes the most sound difference.
From the BMW manual: "Do not grease/oil thread or use any graphite or copper grease. Adhere to the torque values of the packaging information or regulation. Note: If these instructions are not followed, especially with regard to greasing, this may result in mechanical damage to the spark plug housing/thread. Spark plugs that are not tightened sufficiently lead to leaks and to the spark plugs coming loose during engine operation." So, you were saying?

@kern417 no, I'm not an engineer x and thank God. The people that really understand cars and see engineering mistakes are the ones working on them. Steel plugs seize in aluminum. Fact.... but you do you, that's your car, not mine. But in the 100s of not thousands I've done, not one issue using anti seize.... plenty of issues dealing with plugs when it's not used, especially most factory ones.

Was just about to change mine this weekend!
More DIY videos KEVIN this one is very informative
Good timing, I was just looking up plugs to change
Same as the other comment(s), it was planned for the weekend so couldn't have been a better time
Right on time! But I'll go for the NGK iridium
Got my new eldor coils and champion plugs around Christmas. This is next on the list #b58gang

Not yet but coming soon
all hail to stock plugs and stock gaps :) (y)
Is the socket a 14mm or 16mm? I want to do this soon but kies Motorsports has 2 different ones when I type my car in the search box
14mm 12 point socket
FCP Euro sells them cheaper.

What about coil pack ? Are the eldor from fpc eruo oem quality?

Not really

When they fail

Yes misfires in boost
What camber plates you got on the Kws?
Millway
Did you leave the foam out? How loud is the dorch stg2 hpfp in the cabin?
Yes and it's not bad at all

check for boost/exhaust leaks in that area

30-40k
@@kern417 thanks for the reply
Just ordered genuine bmw plugs for my m340i. 4 are champion and 2 are ngk. Does that matter? Same part#
It's not ideal but it should be ok. They always do that. I recommend ordering parts direct to make sure you get 6 of the same ones
How often should one change his spark plugs having a Gen1 B58 with TUPump and OTS tune Stage 2+?
30-40k mi should be good

probably pcv
