    After doing this job last night on my 2017 M240i I’d like to call out a few things.
    1.) Don’t pull the sound deadening foam out until AFTER you have fully loosened the strut brace and preferably remove the center cowling first. I don’t get why you’d remove the foam first if your going to loosen the strut brace and remove the center cowl anyway. You will tear your foam especially if you have an upgraded hpfp. There is also a post towards the back passenger side of the engine that’s hard to see.
    2.) Torque spec for spark plugs are 23NM or 17ft/lbs.
    3.) Torque spec for coil packs are 8NM if you wanna really get technical.
    4.) My strut brace took an E18 for all 4 bolts. No big deal as I’ve heard these bolts may vary, but just be mindful to avoid stripping the bolt.
    I couldn’t easily find any torque specs for the strut brace so I just went with the 30NM mentioned in this video. Can anyone confirm?
    This was a great, in-depth video and made this job much less daunting. Thanks.

      Strut brace is 56Nm.

      Per TIS, the 14mm spark plugs are 30nm +/- 3nm.

      @davidsmale4002 11 месяцев назад

      @@acimdotnet is there anywhere that details this website etc as I keep seeing conflicting information? Also the whole repolace the bolts thing, is that true (I would suspect a garage wouldn't replace them) but if its a stretch bolt which I believe the plus 90 degrees means then I guess they do need to be replaced. Just seems a lot for a spark plug change.

    • @acimdotnet
      @acimdotnet 11 месяцев назад

      @@davidsmale4002 Yes, I wrote above "renew the bolts". This information is from the official service manual. If you don't want to buy new bolts, I would tighten them just to 56Nm to avoid eventual break. I planned to get new bolts for the spark change in few thousands kilometers, but then I had to replace one VANOS actuator so I just replaced both actuators and put the old bolts back with 56Nm. But for the planned spark plugs change I will get the new bolts as well. I just didn't want to buy them twice.

    The proper torque for the spark plug depends on thread pitch.
    M12x1.25 = 23NM
    M14x1.25 = 30NM
    I believe 23NM is the most common.

    Those coil connectors just don't come off that easy for me, they won't release by squeezing, and I've broken 2 of them in 2 different ways. Not sure why these are so much more difficult than the others on the car which work fine.

  • @Addselwyn

      I broke mine on the MAF like a year ago. It doesn't move. It bugged me for a while but you can't buy just that. You would have to get the entire connector. I even tried part outs and no one wanted to give it to me without the whole harness.
