Yeah because when you think about it. the water is warm/cold to the touch because its colder/warmer then your normal body temp. So when you get out your body is going back to its original temp.So youll start to feel warmer after a cold shower and Colder after a hot shower

Now understand i grew up in Africa we had to take cold showers we had no other options, Life was Amazing, i was always happy and positive all the time no anxiety or depression. Now i live in UK Life is so comfortable but, it doesn't give me that joy i use to have when i didn't have much. Now i choose to make my life a bit uncomfortable, like sometimes i volunteer to work in Mental Hospitals, after i finish it makes me feel so Fulfilled . • @myotherusername9224
      @myotherusername9224 9 лет назад +232

True. Speaking from personal experience (in the shower, not with crack). The pain is worst at the very first and then decreases dramatically for the first 30 seconds, at which point it's maybe 65% gone, then the remainder goes away until at 2 minutes the pain is gone, and the endorphins and dopamine start to noticeably ramp up. At 5 minutes, it just feels cold, not bad. Jumping out and toweling off feels INCREDIBLE. All day you will feel the echo of fantasticness.

FightClub MeetsHere Yeeep. The body's ability to adapt is crazy. Took about a week's worth of cold showers before my body completely stopped involuntarily shivering. The cold shower really saved me from depression when my wife left me and got my kid with herself, and I almost drank alcohol for 2 weeks and started thinking about leaving this world, but somehow I started looking for a help for myself and researching stuff that could put me up, then I found a cold shower habit and workout out every morning at 6am. After two weeks later it's just magic, it's just new life begins and u feel like nothing gonna stop you! and your body automatically produces dopamine and it's like you're achieved a very hard task on the table. So if anyone having a bad time I will suggest taking a cold shower this thing is a simple common recipe to look life much much better.

It is actually, it's very addictive.
I haven't had a hot shower in 30 days. I'm almost through my first 30 days of the Wim Hof breathing method every morning first thing before my feet even hit the floor and a cold shower every other morning, (when i hit 30 days ill do a video)
it is very addictive and I feel so good. it's something I definitely recommend

    • @BigTruckingDreams
      @BigTruckingDreams 3 года назад +4

@Soroush Kasra if diving in fully submerged into an ice bath is not something you're accustomed to and your body is not acclimated to it overtime with gradually doing hot showers to warm showers or cold showers, then I would recommend starting at Ground Zero.
Cold showers and Ice baths are beneficial to your circulatory system and helpful for the healing of the body not just physically but energetically also, in all your 7 chakras.
It's always good to start first with turning a hot shower into warm and then cold as you become comfortable with it, and the longer you can stay in a cold shower the more you're going to be acclimated to an ice bath.
It's always recommended to start with no more than 5 minutes if you're a beginner. Cuz overtime you'll slowly build up your tolerance from 1 minute, to 2 minutes, to 3 minutes and all the way up to 5 minutes, as far as your physical tolerance and how comfortable cold becomes to you.
Once you become comfortable with standing under a cold shower faucet for 5 minutes then move on to the ice bath where you can fully submerge, but again when you start with the ice baths you start again the same way you did with cold showers.
Submerged slowly at your own pace, listen to your body, continue to do the breathing and slowly let your body acclimate to the submersion. starting with 1 minute, then 2 minutes, and going up to 5 minutes.
As far as I know, only people who have been doing this for a couple of months consecutively if not an entire year consecutively doing this on a regular basis every single day or every other day or every 3 days, they are more able to jump straight into freezing cold ice bath being able to be completely submerged in an instant without stressing the body so much because the body is acclimated to that kind of stress.
It's like going to a gym and expecting to be able to do a 300 lb deadlift if you've never lifted before at all.
You have to be able to build up the tolerance & the muscle strength before you dive too deep.
So yes, it can be hazardous to someone's Health if they are pushing too far too fast. It doesn't matter if you're doing a 300lb deadlift at the gym or if you're jumping into 32 Degree freezing ice bath to do the Wim Hof method.
Build up your tolerance. build up your strength, go at your own pace and listen to your body.
      You'll do just fine, 👍👍🤙🤙💖

Just took my first cold shower today. I've done the James Bond shower a few times but never really ended with the water as cold as it goes, more like 20%. This time I just went in on the coldest the water goes and HOLY SHIT!
I started by just leaning the top of my head in and let it run down my face. Then I let it spill down my back and stood up quickly so it would get on my chest next. By this time I was breathing very rapidly and I started to roar like and animal. As the water started to soak every part of my body something crazy happened...
I don't know if it was the adrenaline or not but I started laughing hysterically and uncontrollably for about 20 seconds. I just could not stop laughing! It was pure bliss! Then I stood still and the water just splashed my chest in the same spot and I started to feel calm and relaxed, even comfortable.
As I got out and dried off I felt giddy and high. Also slightly invincible.
    10/10 would do it again.

People should be careful to follow someone's advice without understanding why. Some people like to make fools of the gullible. Cold showers in the winter, when outside temperatures are below freezing, are harder to endure than those during the summer. Here, it taught him not to obsess and fear uncomfortable situations. In fact there are many things which are difficult to do but also beneficial to do, such as learning a new skill, an instrument to play, or language, but it could also be an exercise program or eating healthier before you are told to by your doctor. Cold showers can be beneficial medically, but then again so can hot showers. It takes wisdom to know when to take which.

It’s no about shocking yourself, or making yourself scream, it’s about those 3 to 5min in a freezing shower.
So weather you want to jump right into the cold or gradually get there is the same thing.

ive taken cold showers for the past week minus 1 or two days and trust me it helps with your mental fortitude and ability to withstand uncomfortable situations. Plus the entire shower isn't shitty, just the first 20 seconds or so. After your body adjusts to the cold shower...like jumping into a cold pool or lake, it's not as bad as you might think. And afterwards you feel great. They truly do help.

Okay, as one of many who has been through this 30 days challenge, here are my thoughts toward this video:
    1. Cold shower can make you more resilient. I used to be a little whiny bitch, want to enjoy everything and never pay much effort. But after 30 days without any compromise, I have much stronger will power and execution.
    2. Cold shower can benefit your health. It gives you better skin and hair, but most importantly, for man, it boosts up your metabolism and sex performance.Tested. No kidding.
    3. Cold shower is one of view ways of torturing your self while benefiting you at the same time. I personally think it is one better way of putting your self in a optimum condition when you feel that you need to put your shit together.
    4. Cold shower saves time. I used to do hot showers that at least last 15 min. I would get too comfortable and hate to get out of the shower(I know you do too). But taking cold shower is completely another story. You would feel 2 minutes of standing in there takes way to long. So usually I cold shower within 5 minutes. Not only excited for the rest of the day, but also I am able to be more alert and productive.
    5. ....
There are many good reasons to take cold showers. I understand people wouldnt do it no matter wut because certain people cannot bare the coldness. But trust me I was no where near enjoying that coldness like 2 month ago, and I still dont like it now. I just got used to it. So would I recommend this method and do I agree with wut the guy said in this Ted Talk? Hell Frickin Ya.

I do believe there are physiological benefits--for instance, used to be very sensitive to cold and now I wear t-shirts when others wear sweaters-- but the psychological benefits Joel highlights here are definitely the most important reasons why I keep doing this. It appears to be a very good way to kickstart good habits in other areas of life.

This is really fantastic and it totally sums up why we don’t do things we know we should .. pain avoidance. Seems like cools showers are a good way to face up to what we have to do if we want to achieve anything. Thank you for this Joel, really really great. This is bravery training! I know that because I’ve just had one and I hated it, but I knew it was learning something beyond the pain.

Just took a 10 minute cold shower from start to finish , autumn in London so it was pretty damn icy cold. Feel like super woman. Now I just look at everything I don't feel like doing, even if I want to, but succumbing to distractions as an exercise. Stop worrying about the outcome, do it to do it, to see if u can. Trust the process. The rest will work itself out, you just need to show up.

I suffered from being cold for years. I would have a runny nose a lot. Always had to wear a jacket to go in the supermarket. I started exercising and sweating hard so I’d take a cold shower afterwards. Felt so good. After the shower my body is warm. I found myself not feeling cold anymore and didn’t need a jacket in the supermarket.

I love cold showers. I try to take 2 a day, once in the morning, once in the evening. It's harder in the winter when you are already pretty much at the point of shivering to jump into icy cold water, but that's also where the "facing your fears" is the most rewarding/beneficial. Of course you should have a way to warm up pretty quickly once you get out, or at least warm up to a safe temperature so you don't get hypothermia.

Cold showers are actually amazing. I just had a freezing cold shower and afterwards my skin and hair feels so soft and smooth. Also it can help clear your mind and reduce stress. I’m trying to lose weight and cold showers significantly help me in my weight loss journey. I can safely say that I’ll only be taking cold showers from now on. Another thing is that a cold shower feels so satisfying after exercise

it took him over 10 mins to say something he could have said in 1 minute. let me save you a lot of time. people dont like/afraid of what is difficult, hard, or uncomfortable so they never pursue their dreams. Taking a cold shower every day will get you used to doing something that is difficult, hard, and uncomfortable.. Cold shower = conquest and pride.

Interesting! Actually, I watched this *after* starting to take cold showers. Well, only 5 days a week, after workouts. And I wash in warm water before setting it to cold, or else the soap won't rinse off. And I do the trick my sister taught me from training for a marathon : after a workout, jump in the shower, wash yourself and then put the water to the hottest you can endure for 30 seconds, then the coldest for 30 seconds, then repeat until you can't take it anymore. I can't go past twice yet, but I'll get to 5. It's really excruciating, but it pumps the lactic acid out of the muscles and you're left with a nice feeling of relaxation afterwards.

works well for me. To people starting to do this, it really helps to start with warm water and gradually go cold. Your body will get used to it better, and you will be more likely to stick with cold showers. After 3-4 times of gradually making the water colder you can go full blast cold right away.

Jabria Rogers It's good to do hot/cold to get the benefits of both but preheating the body this way makes it easier to endure and won't make you feel quite as good/ high after as a straight cold shower.

I measured the temperature, it's 12 degrees C in my place. But after a warm 38 degree shower it feels like ice water!
Give it a try, see what happens.
Here it's a bit above freezing now and I go for a swim in a lake, for 5 to ten minutes. I shake like a leaf afterwards and it takes half an hour for me to feel relaxed again, but it's fun!
