    They used a lot of gear in the 70’s.
    Mike Mentzers training partner said they used 1500mg of Deca a week.
    I read a Muscular Development article that said Arnold’s cycle was like 700mg of Dbol a week and 1000 primo.

      Steroids don’t work they are a temporary enhancement, when go off , you shrink and fast, when you really go off , you go back to what you would have become if you never took them a pumped some weights. The evidence on this is of no debate. Now having said that , while on they work, they make you bigger stronger, and closer to death. Do they work in what context, they don’t work, in what context. But be sure that when you decide to go down that route, you decide to take the risk of illness, skin disorders, organ destruction, hormonal disruption, hair loss , heart problems, muscle stiffness. All for about 10-20% more than what you have achieved without them, but to each them own. No trife from me on either side, I wanted to live past 50 and still pump weights, I love it, but I had the wherewithal to know the ramifications as I got my education in the Late 70s and early 80s. Let me tell you the 80s was a nuclear explosion of PED use and chemical cocktails. I whacked many a gym colleague get everything I mentioned above including dropping dead, dick not working, man you in your 20s and you sick don’t work, not for me I said, but you sure look good. The ying and yang of anything I guess.

    On a side note, Arnold is probably the most photographed man in history, there is so much pictures of him, I thought I have seen a lot, but in each of your videos I see footage that I didn't know existed. And you can see that he enjoys the spotlight and attention more than today's ig models. He makes use of every opportunity to publish and control his image. Taschen is selling now a ridiculously priced photo book in two volumes of Arnold. I think it's a part of his recent offensive along with the netflix series to shape his image and immortalise himself in global culture. What an ego trip at age 75...

    Another great video. Why do you think so many of the 70’s steroid users seem to live healthy into their 70’s, but the bodybuilders that came later seem to have far more health issues and premature death. Maybe you could do a video on this topic?

    • @publicstaticvoid1
      @publicstaticvoid1 Год назад +4

      probably has to do with compound selection, amount of time using said compounds, food intake, and the fact that most body builders in the 70s were fairly active outside of the gym and lived healthier lives outside of the gym. people now are using hgh, insulin, igf1 on top of tesosterone, deca, tren, etc, while using anciliaries like t3/t4 and clen, eating more food, and are being less active outside of the gym. in the 70s they mostly used dbol and deca, the deca dosages were smaller than what people run for their injectables now. and they werent mixing in primo until contest time, and i have a feeling they would phase out the deca and dbol closer to show time. something im curious about is if they did the "time on = time off" rule in the 70s. we know now that depending on your goal it isnt necessary, but they didnt know that. they also ate less food and outside of meth and adderall i have a feeling like their rec drug use was less

      Hey Jordan thanks for the kind words. I think 90s bodybuilding began to push the extremes - but John D Fair does a Mr America comparison pre and post drugs of the winners of the Mr America title and their respective age at death. The winners pre the introduction of dianabol etc mostly lived to a very good age - an average of 76 years whle those of the steroid era (including the 60s and 70s.bodybuilders you speak of) the average age of death is 53 - a differential of 26.5 years

    Excellent good quality video! In his first book Arnold writes that he can easily gain or lose 30 lbs (13.6 kilos). Add in the extra benefit of a lower fat percentage and the optical results were even bigger. As he never was fat in those years, I guess the 30 lbs difference can only be the result of his on/off PED use.

    • @carvedouttastone
      @carvedouttastone  Год назад +5

      Thanks William. The problem with anything Arnold writes is that it's usually an exaggerated, ghost written embellishment of what "actually" happened. The guy literally lies about everything - his height, weight, PED use, workout length ("I trained 5 hours, twice per day etc), so trying to pin him down on the actual truth is akin to lining up a moving target at a distance. His life story and everything he recounts is indiscernible from the self constructed and ultimately self serving mythology.
      Thinking about the psychology of his early years and his determination to become the "best" in bodybuilding, I don't think he would've even considered pumping the brakes with any "time-off". Even during his army stint he was huge. I think "time off" only became a factor when he needed to start slimming down for acting gigs as he was too oversized for the screen at that time.
      Cheers for the comment!

    What you are missing is the quantum leap from healthy non-drugged natural training of Reeves, Ross, Grimek, and the AAU Mr. A's from the forties / fifties.
    By the early sixties, when I competed in BB, OL, and PLing, everyone on top was on chemicals. That was the 'day the music died'. Our iron sport went from being about health, muscular development, good eating, strength... TO a bunch of chemical clowns in Joe and Ben's IFBB steroid circus becoming comic book characters... Scott, Poole, Sergio, Pearl...all on bathtubs full of gear... Today all the 'pro's' [guffaw] spend a hundred grand a year to net ten grand after bills for drugs, plane tickets, hotels, groceries...

    Yeah all in the sport of bodybuilding in the golden era took steroids. It is still popular today among bodybuilders and wrestlers. But it is not natural, and karma you can’t escape from, Arnold having two heart surgeries and Colombo having a heart attack while swimming once you have a big engine it needs to have the carbon burned out of it in order for it to run, but if standing dial it’s out of tune and get old doesn’t help either lol

    Actually, Arnolds calves don't look like implants. Take a look at Lou Ferrigno in 1993 I think, in the Olympia, that is what implants look like.

    I truly like Ric Drasin, but the calf implant claim seems utterly ridiculous. There would be scar tissue like on a female rack job, and who was doing such procedure in the 70s? That's highly improbable.

    • @carvedouttastone
      @carvedouttastone  11 месяцев назад

      Yeah, I wondered about this particular.detail as well. Because if a person bullshits about one thing knowingly, then to me it compromises their integrity on everything else they report. In regards to the calf implants tho - I know Louie Ferrigno definitely got them and there wasn't any tell tale scarring, so who knows. Poliquin used to say the same thing about Arnold years ago

    Arnold has more to lose so he has to be careful what he says to the world at large. He probably knows other bodybuilders will know he is not being candid, but might expect them to be more silent about it. He was lucky not to get side effects like hair loss. Dbol is not nice drug. I got Pronabol made in India from Amsterdam in 1992 and it just made me look and feel bloated and I stopped and sold what I had.

      @carvedouttastone where did Ric Drausin cite Arnold's calf implants....in a book? I do agree that he had a meteoric calf transformation roughly between '69 and '71 Mr. O's... I've always agreed with Arnold's calf philosophy that they are the benchmark for "good legs" and emphasized calf development my entire life because of Arnold. If he did get implants, I understand why because he's always been envious of competitors' calves back when they were still a weakness. Calves were actually judged during the golden era unlike today where the judges don't GAF about Calves. Also, Ferrigno definitely had implants also when he made his comeback in the 90s. Regardless both of them obviously had the implants removed because if you look at their Calves now they look pretty "normal"... in Arnold's case most likely because he's not on heavy doses of gear anymore.... but man, even in his movie career the Calves were still incredible as seen in the movie Twins.... the only way I would "doubt" the implants is the Calves were still striated, again as seen in Twins and implants usually have a smooth look about them.... anyway I'm no calves implant expert and still proud of myself for putting about 1.5-2" on mine in my adult life...partly thanks to Arnold but mostly due to consistent training for decades. 💪💪
