Yeah, now it's like: Oh I know you just started, but here's one of the fastest and best handling cars in the game. Enjoy destroying every pointless challenge in this game with it

The red livery actually resembles Saurus Champ GT-R R33 GT-R LM's RM resembles Zexel Skyline in white while black resembles Kure R33, both in 1996 JGTC (NOT the 1997 editions in GT2)
Thanks for sharing stuff like this again. It's always really interesting to discover the history of the racing mods / LM cars in the game. Do you have a full list anywhere, covering every RM in the game?
Thanks! I have considered it, though the reason I chose GT1 for this was because it (probably) has the fewest number of prize cars. ;) However, yes, I might move on to GT2, as this video has had a great response so far.
SilEighty was a Nissan production car for a short time due to the popularity of the mod From wiki: "Japanese auto shop "Kids Heart" to produce a small number of official Nissan Sileighties, together with Nissan. After that, the cars were sent for sale to Nissan stores, and Kids Heart. It's on record that 400 cars were made by this store"
This video and the prize cars with all these unique colors shows me again what I miss on GT Sport. No cups with prize cars and the cars you can win daily from the marathon are just ones you can also buy in the dealership. I really hope GT7 gets back to this.
HOLY CRAP THE SILEIGHTY WAS IN GT1?!?!? I'm am HYPED. Thanks for the link, dude! (And to think all I was waiting for was to hear about the Viper GTS-R...)
I should add, I was born in '90 and got this game somewhere between ages 8 and 10. I didn't know much about racing, only knew American cars, and the cheat codes came out long before I ever earned an iA license. Many details were missed in my "playthrough." lol
I'm really enjoying the look back on early GT goodies... makes me want to play the original game again... the series sure lost a lot of structure in the prize car awards over the years
You mentioned using two cards to obtain all [R]TRD3000GT and 400R/[R]400R colors, but you can actually do it with a single card. In the case of the 400R, as mentioned, get almost all golds and save your game. Get the final gold, take your prize car to Max Speed Test and save its settings. Load your saved game, get the gold again and, if you get a new color, save the new car's settings (do not overwrite the previous settings!). Do it until you get all colors and then save your game. Take the card out of slot 1 and place it in slot 2, buy three (or five, if you want the [R] versions as well) 400Rs from yourself and place the card back in slot 1 to save your game with 4 (or 6) 400R in the garage. Finally, get in each car and load the previously saved settings, this way you'll change the car's color and, in the end, have all colors without the need of a second card! In the case of the TRD3000GT, simply buy two cars from yourself (using the card trick above) and install both Racing Modifications.
Really nice video, however considering this was made from the NTSC-JP version of the game, it would be interesting to note that some cars have different stats from the PAL and NTSC-USA versions. The Demio A-spec, Honda CR-X SiR, Silvia Q's, Eunos Roadster, Civic, Viper GTS-R, Cerbera LM, Concept Car LM, the Impreza, and the Trueno shown here have all had weight added to them, as much as almost 400kg (the Viper weighs ~1250kg on western releases). No cars on the westers releases weighted less than 700kg, with the closest being the Demio or one of the Corollas at around 725kg. (I don't rememeber which exactly). Also interesting to note, is the standard Concept Car's unique lack of a race modification. But that's because of the fact that it was scrapped with the loss of the license for the car's original name, Copperhead. As for the narrator's question about the Trueno's racing modification, although the livery is most likely fictional, the bodykit is based on the N2 race car AE86: speedhunters-wp-production.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/BL_1049.jpg
The Plymouth Roadrunner (and a few other American muscle cars of the era) appeared in the showroom in about 25-30 colours - but could not be purchased. They had to be won in various USA championship series. I don't remember which Gran Turismo this was. I tried to collect every colour Roadrunner, but when you only have one or two colours left, and 1 in 25 (or whatever) chance, it became a never-ending grind. I gave up. Life is too short. There'll be completists out there who did it though, I'm sure.
I used the Viper for my first time through it and the Cerbera for my second. I prefer the Cerbera now, but I get why people would take the Viper instead.
The Sileighty is a real Nissan car that was made in limited numbers by a sole Nissan tuning company called Autech. They also released a Onevia. I'm sure you can guess what that one looked like. But yes both were in fact genuine Nissan models, albeit through a tuning firm and limited production.
The Specs on the Viper are completely different in the NTSC and (I guess) PAL versions. It weighs 1248 KG. The Cerbera is also heavier. Although at 900 KG, it's still one of the lightest race cars in the game.
It seems there are or were Initial D fans among the team at Polyphony because between the Sileighty in “Impact Blue” and the Todoh School Demo Car EK9 Civic, and eventually the inclusion of Shigeno’s AE86, I get big Initial D vibes.
The Trueno you get from the hard tuned cup is not the same as the one from the used car dealership as you can not use this car in the Lightweight cup, even though you can use the dealership one in this cup
Pretty sure that just means you're playing the North American (NTSC-U) version of the game where the Hondas have different names. Should be the same car
You need to make it clear this is the Japanese version, I could be wrong about this but when he shows a car at 07:20 which I'm pretty sure you can't win the RED coloured version in the PAL version of the game, I know this because me and my brother tried so many times to get this car in RED and never could do so and only won it in BLACK. We saw this picture on a Gran Turismo 1 Cheatbook and thats how we knew it existed orig05.deviantart.net/5fc6/f/2008/213/a/6/gran_turismo_2_wallpaper_by_nathan2617.jpg Also at 07:36 this Cerbera LM is not fast at all in the PAL version but its the closest vehicle to a F1 car in the Japanese version of GT1
It exists! In the Country vs Country events, watch the ending credits to change the colours of the reward cars. Also, to get the old colour rewards back, just save game and reset your playstation. Did some testing to confirm this

Hi Emmanuel. Sadly there are no prize cars from the GT World Cup, which is why it's not mentioned in the video. Instead you unlock the ending credits and GT HiFi.
Wouldn't surprise me if that AE86 was the "original" AE86 Suichi Shigeno Version, despiste being a kouki Trueno 86 nd not a Zenki, haha. Does anyone know when your prize car color is decided? I've got a save state right before completing the US vs Japan cup and am only receiving a single color for each of the possible prize cars every time I reload and cross the finish line. Thanks!
When you have the options replay, save replay and continue, after you press continue the color and car will be random. I used an emulator to obtain all the cool colors of every prize car back in the day.
I was getting only blue stripe Vipers and black FTOs until I saw someone somewhere mentioned that they started getting different colour cars after watching the ending movie. So I backed out to my completed arcade mode, played and skipped the ending movie in the bonus items, tried US v Japan again and from then onwards I was only getting green stripe Vipers and green FTOs. Sorry its 3 years late :D
Hi Steven. The commentary for the video was done by HG Central. He's from somewhere in America, whereas I'm from the UK, so we'll definitely pronounce some things differently.
Back when you had secret cars to earn in a racing game. I miss those days
Yeah, now it's like: Oh I know you just started, but here's one of the fastest and best handling cars in the game. Enjoy destroying every pointless challenge in this game with it
Or: can't be bothered playing the game? buy all the secret cars with real money instead!
Back when people consulted cheat guides because they were too impatient to earn unlockables
For anyone interested for the facts of the colors/racing modifications (RM):

The blue Sileighty resembles the car in Initial D, yet from its return since GT4 the blue is gone-unless you paint it in blue in GT5 and GT6
Yellow/black Eunos Roadster somehow resembles the J LImited/J Limited II, which was a limited edition in real life
Civic Type-R resembles the Spoon tuned one from GT2 onwards
Viper GTS-R in blue stripes resembles Oreca for 1996 Le Mans 24 Hours
Cerbera LM in maroon resembles Techspeed TVR team's British GT race car in 1995
S14 Silvia LM in red resembles Person's Racing Team Silvia JGTC

ah yes the FTO LM ... IMHO, that's the "Escudo Pikes Peak" of GT 1 for me. Easy to use and quick enough to go in the more serious races.
I love unique cars tuned by the very depelopers of the game, cars like the ones in this video, Racing Lagoon, Ridge Racer T4, etc. deserve to exist

In the beginning, there was the P I N K AE86. Then, the Shigeno AE86 came along. But still no B L A C K AE86?!
I wish this game could return in PlayStation Classic!
I never knew the Nismo 400R was in this game! Makes me want to play it all over again
I believe the Civic Type R may actually be a SPOON since in GT4 the Spoon Civic had the same hood color.
I feel like the prize cars were much better in GT1 than in GT2.
The 86s green race mod reminds me a bit of keiichi tsuchiyas 86. One of them i guess

Kacpa2 You're very welcome. ;)
Why does the music sound like the sped-up (original) version of Cat Corp's _Second Floor_?

Haha, not sure, but it's from the original Gran Turismo soundtrack.
Ah, found it! _A Man Of The World_, can't wait to tell r/vaporwave about this 😁
Awesome! I actually love vaporwave. :)
MattJ155 you know Gran Turismo soundtrack has a Jazz Music add to it right???????
Is it just me, or does it look like the S14 LM has NOS sponsor decals on the front bumper? I have no idea why they would be on there though.
How much chance to get the FTO & Concept /w 528hp car bcs the events always rewarded me the Viper gts like 10 times?
Viper 10 times in a row just sounds unlucky. Felt like 50/50 for me
