    I have spina bifida and had issues with my bowel since birth. I've tried nearly everything. Milk of magnesia, fybogel, metamucil, laxatives, bowel flushing, eating more fibre and vegetables. Nothing worked. Vegetables just bunged me up. I've finally cured my chronic constipation. What I do is eat 5 to 6 pieces of fruit a day and a probiotic yoghurt. Fruit for breakfast and dinner. I will eat whatever i like for lunch. I take two magnesium citrate capsules every day and two digestive enzymes. I'm now going daily or every other day. Before I would go once a week or once every two weeks.

    Since centuries the optimal manner to overcome not only occasional constipation but chronic constipation too will be taking castor oil. Remember that castor oil is the only laxative that will not work in the intestines by irritating them, but by activating and synthesizing certain substances in the human body. So any habituation of the human body or diminishing laxative effect is absolutely impossible and castor oil is suitable in a special manner for chronic constipation. Take 1 tablespoon (= 15 ml) castor oil early in the morning on an empty stomach and 1 to 2 hours later you will remark its relieving effects.

      Hi Tammy! I am glad you found this channel, too! I believe I do say in this video that, if you have a history of laxative use, this recipe might not be as effective -- but I do hope that it is helpful for you.
      Laxatives are a vast and tricky subject, and it is very difficult to make any general claims about them/why they sometimes stop working... but! If you are interested in learning a little bit more, I did make a video all about laxative weaning that you can check out here: ruclips.net/video/83iS4N_HQYk/видео.html

      Thank you so much for responding. I’ve tried them a few times but never used them regularly. I don’t think 🤔 that would make me laxative dependent? Magnesium is a supplement because I am magnesium deficient it just happened to help for awhile.
      Thank you for your kindness in responding

    • @PelvicEmpowerment
      @PelvicEmpowerment  5 лет назад +3

      @@tammygardner7953 Oh! Magnesium works by pulling water into the intestines, which softens the stool and makes it easier to pass -- it is an osmotic laxative, like MiriLax!
      I am not sure why it stopped working, though! Knowing that you're not using laxatives regularly makes me more hopeful that this recipe will work for you :)
      And of course, thank you so much for watching and commenting 💕

    • @PelvicEmpowerment
      @PelvicEmpowerment  5 лет назад +2

      Hi! Hmm... this isn't meant to be a colonic, if that is what you mean by "clean out the colon." It is meant to be a natural laxative for humans who do not have a history of laxative dependence. I don't know that it will truly "clean out" your colon, but it should soften & bulk the stool and encourage natural gut motility! I hope that helps to answer your question, let me know if I can be more helpful! ❤

    Hi I have a question. Is it true that drinking coffee can help solve the problem with constipation?

    • @PelvicEmpowerment
      @PelvicEmpowerment  5 лет назад +2

      Yes! For some people, coffee can be super helpful because the caffeine stimulates the GI system. However, coffee is also dehydrating (in that it is a diuretic/it makes you pee,) and dehydration can make constipation worse. So, if you are drinking coffee, make sure you are drinking water as well ❤

    Hi Dr Tori. This was a very wonderful video as i also suffering with constipation ever since 2 years ago.I got it randomly once a month and the worse one for me is I've been constipated for three days straight. Which is not so normal for me, as i will poop everyday.I've never took laxatives before so in order to relief my constipation is by doing some yoga, and also been taking chia seed in my daily diet. But it works a bit slow. Is Chia seed/flax seed can help to relief constipation? Thank you for this video btw love you xx ❤

      Hi! I am so sorry to hear about your experiences with constipation, but I love that you've been able to avoid laxatives and have had some success, although a bit slow, with yoga and chia seeds. Chia and flax seed can both be helpful for constipation relief in that they're excellent sources of fiber, which can help with stool consistency! Constipation is tricky in that its cause is unique for each person -- I love that you are trialing different techniques to manage it and figuring out what works for you. That's awesome!
      I wish you health and safety during this uncertain time 💕

      Keep up the good work. Too many have experience constipation for weeks at a time and have to seek help in hosp emerg depts. My family doctor’s gen rule is 3 and 3: at min 3x per wk and max 3x per day but 1x per day is ideal. Stool should feel and look like a ripe banana 🍌. Best analogy. 😉✌️🌎

    Great content! I've started Linzess to control my constipation. Is it ok to use this a way to 'fine tune' my bowel movement interval? At Linzess' max dosage, I'm on a 12 hour bowel movement cycle, and at 145 mcg i'm 92 hour or so cycle.
    Or would just eating (separate servings) of applesauce , prune juice and oat brand work as well?
    FYI: My insurance (medicare) is paying for Linzess with pre-approval.

    • @PelvicEmpowerment
      @PelvicEmpowerment  3 года назад +1

      I'm so glad your insurance is paying for Linzess, it can expensive! I hope it works well for you 🤗
      You can always trial this concoction and see if it helps you! Sometimes, when someone has a longstanding history of constipation, increased fiber and stool bulking techniques aren't as effective. But committing to a trial period and tracking your symptoms could help you figure out if your system responds well or if you're better off without it!
      Eating separate servings of the three ingredients is helpful, but they're more powerful together!

    Hi. About prune juice, do you know anything about its making? That is, when I watched your video, the prune juice you bought seemed more concentrated than the brand I buy. I buy Sunsweet brand. I'm curious to know if what I am buying might be more water than prune juice. And, if that makes a difference in its aid for constipation.

    • @PelvicEmpowerment
      @PelvicEmpowerment  4 года назад +1

      Great question! I'm not entirely sure about the Sunsweet brand vs. other brands, but I do tend to recommend organic over concentrate (it makes sense in my head that the more organic the juice, the more true prune juice it contains, the more effective it would be, although I've never tested this theory).
      I wish I could be more helpful! Hope you get to feeling better soon 🤗

    I heard once poop is in the rectum it’s too late to soften it. I was told by a friend I have to use a suppository. Is that true?

    • @PelvicEmpowerment
      @PelvicEmpowerment  3 года назад +2

      That is mostly true! Usually, the longer poop stays in the rectum, the harder it gets (the large intestine will actually pull it up, out of the rectum, take more water out of it, and then place it back into the rectum over time). Suppositories and enemas are more effective for stool that's already in the rectum, and stool softeners are more effective for stool that's still in the intestines!

      Excellent question! I do not have a natural remedy like this one, but if you're struggling with diarrhea, it may be helpful to get a pelvic physical therapist on your healthcare team!
      Have you ever heard of pelvic physical therapy? A good pelvic PT would be able to assess your pelvic floor, surrounding musculature, diet, and lifestyle habits to help tailor interventions that are suited to you and your unique GI system.

    Would you consider doing a video just for Parkinson’s patients. Constipation is a common issue.

    • @PelvicEmpowerment
      @PelvicEmpowerment  3 года назад

      I really appreciate this request, thank you. I don't know as much about Parkinson's and pelvic health, but I do know that Parkinson's tends to lend itself to rigidity... I'd venture to guess that interventions related to helping the intestines move and relax would be the most helpful.
      Maybe intestinal massage and modified yoga positions would be a helpful place to start? Those paired with sitting on the toilet properly to poop. I think the intestinal massage likely wouldn't give those with Parkinson's a hard time; however, I do think the yoga positions and toilet positioning might need to be modified pending on the person's mobility restrictions. And that's okay! Just attempting to the best of the individual's ability comfortably would be better than not trying at all! Here are those videos, if they're of interest to you:
