    His willingness to jump in front of all of the gamma radiation is what really sells this. He doesn't hesitate to grab his colleague to pull him out of the way. He just does it, no questions asked. And it saves a friend, even if it "creates" a monster within himself. Pure mentality of the situation, no thoughts

      It’s loosely based on his comic origin when he was testing a gamma bomb, until Rick Jones unknowingly parked into the area, so Bruce drove out to save the kid. As they were escaping the explosion, he pushed Rick into a nearby trench before being hit by the radiation.
      Of course Bruce told someone to stop the bomb, but the guy turn out to be a Russian spy who ignored him.
      While I still like the Ed Norton version, his origin leaves all this out, saying he was just experimenting on himself.

    What I really like about this film despite its flaws is how comic accurate it is. Just like issue no. 1 of The Incredible Hulk Bruce Banner gets exposed to gamma Ray's by heroically saving someone from gamma explosion where the 2008 film just rips it from the 70s TV series.

    • @fabianmoreno5950
      @fabianmoreno5950 2 года назад +18

      Not even that the 70's TV series actually made it's own origin the mcu copied the 1610 comic universe origin where bruce became the hulk because of the super soldier program which in my mind is why hulk and thor are shown as hell as weak but since the mcu is just an amalgation of stories put together as a Frankenstein's monster leaving important things out and not making sense for comic fans who did read the comics

    What's interesting about this is scene is that while everyone talks about how the gamma exposure awakened the hulk within Bruce because of David Banner's self-experimentation, it's that same self-experimentation that saved Bruce's life. Without Bruce's pre-existing mutation, he would've died. Though David traumatized Bruce, he also indirectly saved his life.

The origonal show it as well such as when Hulk dealt with an abusive father and made him get help. It was interesting as Hulk did not just smack him about but had a proper conversation with him to end the cycle of abuse.

    Despite Ang Lee leaving out all the bomb of the adaptation, he proved he's a real Hulk fan by proving that he got the most important aspect of Hulk's origin story: how Bruce selfless act of saving Rick Jones from dying changed the rest of his life completely.
    That's what made the Hulk a hero from the beginning.
    (And The Incredible Hulk didn't adapted that aspect so this is automatically superior).

    This is a brilliant film. Good adaption of the Hulk in general, as the game was also good.
    There’s no way to make a goofy giant green man Citizen Kane so it’s perfect that it embraces the campy and melodramatic comic book nature of the source material.
    I love the comic-style editing, it’s a shame its unique to this film. It gives a visual pop. I don’t think the world was ready for it, unfortunately.
    I would take this ten times out of ten, and then another time again, over the MCU and it’s bastardisation of the Hulk.
