This Hulk was my favorite. Bruce Banners backstory in this movie was so tragic and Eric Bana did really good playing Banner. The theme song was so unique and it fit perfect.
@A Crazy Hobo he is actually, he's just been focusing on Australian documentaries and Indy movies, passion projects There's an Aussie movie called Chopper where he's so over the top, but the guy he's portraying is that way He's won a lot of awards Bana is a good actor, Lee wanted Bruce to be standoffish and awkward as to have Bruce being as he was in the comics, no people skills
Up until Civil War, though, The Incredible Hulk felt very loosely connected to the rest of the MCU, to the point where this could honestly fit as the origin for Mark Ruffalo's Hulk just as much as that film (it ends in such a similar place to where the Bruce from The Avengers was at the start). Even the way Ruffalo's Hulk looks and acts feels more like this version than anything.
The most Tense and Powerful ending to A Marvel Film of Hearing Hulk Yells echo through the forest is amazing and meaning that he's all Hulked Up and beating the shit out of Those mean people for taking the poor villagers their medicine. Damn The Hulk (2003) very Badass/ Underrated Marvel film and one my Favorites next to Sam Rami Spiderman (2002), Ghost Rider, Daredevil, & The Punisher (2005).
Great use of color: as the camera rises, we see that Banner's eyes have turned green, his hat is green, the tiny frog on the hat is green, the canvas is green, the leaves are green, and the screen fades to green, not black. Those soldiers have come into a green world... and the roar of The Hulk just confirms what happens "when I'm angry".

Eric Bana's Hulk, my favorite HULK ever and the best.
In a lot of ways this is better than the 2008 Hulk 03: He says "You're making me angry" TWICE 08: "You're making me hungry....wait that's not right" 03: His super stretchy purple shorts are integrated into the plot as a military creation 08: Purple shorts are a quick little gag 03: Anger makes him Hulk out 08: Raises heart rate, regardless of emotion, makes him Hulk out....destroying the nature of his character and what it is all about(Controlling anger) 03: Fully fleshed out origin story 08: Origin story is told as a prologue 03: Self contained film with no loose ends 08: Several hanging threads(Abomination, The Leader) with no sequel 03: Could occur nicely before the first Iron Man 08: Awkwardly overlaps with Iron Man 2 and Thor 03: Hulk's green color, look, and power set are more consistent with The Avengers 08: Hulk's green color, look, and power set are fairly inconsistent with The Avengers 03: Hulk has some of Bruce's facial features, like The Avengers 08: Hulk doesn't look like Banner at all 03: Bruce and Betty have a damaged past relationship that ends in the film, letting Bruce be open to pursue other interests like Black Widow 08: Bruce and Betty are made out to be absolute soul mates...which makes Bruce not pursuing her or checking in on her feel a little like a betrayal 03: Bruce has brown eyes, like in The Avengers 08: Bruce has blue eyes 03: Ends with Bruce working as a doctor in a foreign country, The Avengers begins with Bruce working as a doctor in a foreign country 08: Ends with Bruce hiding in a Cabin 03: Hulk says "Puny Human", in The Avengers he says "Puny God" 08: Hulk has no such line 03: Hulk rides on the back of a jet, just like in The Avengers 08: No Jet ride 03: They explore and sort of bring up the psychological side of the dynamic between the Banner and Hulk personalities....which pays off in Ragnarok, Infinity War, and Avengers 4 08: No real dynamic or relationship between the two, Hulk isn't really portrayed as a character Eric Bana could believably 'age into' Mark Ruffalo more convincingly than Edward Norton The only thing 2008 Hulk has going for it is that it is "officially" in the MCU, has references to SHIELD, Stark Industries, Captain America and a Tony Stark cameo. William Hurt also reprises his role as Ross 2 more times in the MCU. It is also shorter and has a quicker pace than the 2003 Hulk. Outside of that....most measurable aspects go in favor of the 03 movie. It is a shame because also.....you could easily re-cut The Incredible Hulk to make it function as a sequel to Hulk 03. It was originally written as one....and then they made the bare-minimum changes to make it a stand-alone movie. So we are left with this weird sequel-but-not-sequel which is just annoying. If they had played their cards right the Hulk could technically have TWO solo MCU movies that tied together a bit.
Here’s what’s great about this scene. It shows that Bruce Banner has learned to become one with the Hulk. He realizes he can use this ability for good instead of being afraid of it as he was the whole time. He may seem lost but in reality he has become one with himself.
This is when the hulk looked more real then the avengers one I get that there were different cgi back then but to me hulk should've stayed like that here
In all honesty, the movie ended when it finally started getting good again!!! This scene always gave me chills and made me want more from the hulk. Its cool that the Edward Norton reboot continued the story and it's actually a sequel!!
I grew up watching Ang Lee’s Hulk alongside Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, but it’s a complete bummer a Sequel wasn’t made, although they had one planned that was to feature the Grey Hulk and both Abomination and The Leader would’ve been the villains, I would’ve loved to have seen it.
My parenrs fled El Salvador during its civil war in the 80s. When my mom saw this ending she jokingly says how wished they couldve had a Hulk down there during that time to settle the war and fight for the people😊
The ending and roar gets me every time. Makes me wonder what way they could’ve took this if there was a sequel and we can see Eric bana return again, because this hulk holds a very special place in my heart and part of my childhood
This version of banner was more of an anti hero…he’s aware of hulk. But he doesn’t try to cure himself…he even express his transformation feelin good at one point
What's more amazing about this is that the both actually accept each other like brothers and they are, more like twins, and are on board with each other and actually helping people and when someone gets in there way, Bruce has no problem stepping out of his other twins way and siccing him in the idiots that tries to fuck with them. Both have come to realize how shitty they both are but at the same time found solace and accepting each other in the process and that they would face the challenges given to them in any form. Amazing.
@@fentonstrauss7304 yeah its true, even in the comics and animations, it took a while but in here, they did have some middle ground to work with and I can see that bridge slowly but surely connecting them that like in this scene, banner has no problem giving control to hulk if the situation needs be.

He was great, the rest of the movie, not so much
He never played the hulk he only played banner
@@joblount4787 technically the same applies to the rest of the actors, from Bixby all the way down to Ruffalo

And all the bad men, innocent men, women and children were brutally killed. The end. 😁

So Hulk kills them
Did you saw some deleted seen ???
And you are good at killing english
Umm no he saved a bunch of people from a jet crashing on the Golden gate bridge remember
This Hulk was my favorite. Bruce Banners backstory in this movie was so tragic and Eric Bana did really good playing Banner. The theme song was so unique and it fit perfect.
They should have started the sequel from right here. Great sequence.Hulk is a force of nature!
I 100 percent agree 😁 well said @terry hughes
We're never getting films like this again
Unless MCU plans on “multiverse” then they’d probably bring him back, he’s definitely a Hulk I grew up with (child hood)
Eric Bana is a good actor
Yeah thank you
Ye so is Victor Rivas
Xeyal Nebizade
Made a better Hulk than Ruffalo in my opinion. This is how I picture Bruce Banner
He's handsome but he's wooden as hell sorry
@A Crazy Hobo he is actually, he's just been focusing on Australian documentaries and Indy movies, passion projects
There's an Aussie movie called Chopper where he's so over the top, but the guy he's portraying is that way
He's won a lot of awards
Bana is a good actor, Lee wanted Bruce to be standoffish and awkward as to have Bruce being as he was in the comics, no people skills
I love the music so much
My reaction when they announced they weren't making a sequel.
2008 hulk is the sequel
@@CrazyHorseTheSiouxW4rrior We don't speak of it.
@@CrazyHorseTheSiouxW4rrior No it's reboot, both Hulks have different backstories...
There was a video game based on this one. It's technically a sequel.
Norton and Bana were the only ones who gave Hulk JUSTICE.
Ruffalo did great in avengers 1 and 2. It's a shame the material given to him is not even close to good
The ending is nice when his eyes turn green and the frog on his hat
This movie has flaws but I miss the days when the hulk was portrayed more seriously and not a side show hero who gets beat up in 2 secs by the villain
No
Same feelings here.
@@masonwright7700no what lol
Man, back when Marvel took their movies seriously. Just listen to that outro, eerie and creepy while the hulk comes out with that scream of rage.
This would've made an epic teaser. Imagine seeing this in theaters before Spiderman (2002) started. Real hype.
The most Tense and Powerful ending to A Marvel Film of Hearing Hulk Yells echo through the forest is amazing and meaning that he's all Hulked Up and beating the shit out of Those mean people for taking the poor villagers their medicine. Damn The Hulk (2003) very Badass/ Underrated Marvel film and one my Favorites next to Sam Rami Spiderman (2002), Ghost Rider, Daredevil, & The Punisher (2005).
man this movie really had something alot don't have now adays, FREAKING COLOR
Frs and the cinematography
Great use of color: as the camera rises, we see that Banner's eyes have turned green, his hat is green, the tiny frog on the hat is green, the canvas is green, the leaves are green, and the screen fades to green, not black. Those soldiers have come into a green world... and the roar of The Hulk just confirms what happens "when I'm angry".
Have you noticed that even the frog on Bruce's hat goes «Hulk-green»? 😂😂😂😂
SanghaBlack it’s cause it camouflaged with the hat, it was smart what they did haha
@Oscar Bastidas frogs are green its nothing to do with the hulk they just add the frog to make it look cool
I think the radiation Bruce was giving off while getting ready to Hulk out made the frog glow
Yes
Bruce was experimenting with his blood into the frog....it is a hulk frog...the frog and Bruce both changed from normal at end...the frog primarily had a bluish-black texture....

My second favorite Hulk movie. And what a cast. Eric Bana, Nick Nolte, Sam Elliot (perfect Ross) and Jennifer Connoly. 🙂
In a lot of ways this is better than the 2008 Hulk
03: He says "You're making me angry" TWICE
08: "You're making me hungry....wait that's not right"
03: His super stretchy purple shorts are integrated into the plot as a military creation
08: Purple shorts are a quick little gag
03: Anger makes him Hulk out
08: Raises heart rate, regardless of emotion, makes him Hulk out....destroying the nature of his character and what it is all about(Controlling anger)
03: Fully fleshed out origin story
08: Origin story is told as a prologue
03: Self contained film with no loose ends
08: Several hanging threads(Abomination, The Leader) with no sequel
03: Could occur nicely before the first Iron Man
08: Awkwardly overlaps with Iron Man 2 and Thor
03: Hulk's green color, look, and power set are more consistent with The Avengers
08: Hulk's green color, look, and power set are fairly inconsistent with The Avengers
03: Hulk has some of Bruce's facial features, like The Avengers
08: Hulk doesn't look like Banner at all
03: Bruce and Betty have a damaged past relationship that ends in the film, letting Bruce be open to pursue other interests like Black Widow
08: Bruce and Betty are made out to be absolute soul mates...which makes Bruce not pursuing her or checking in on her feel a little like a betrayal
03: Bruce has brown eyes, like in The Avengers
08: Bruce has blue eyes
03: Ends with Bruce working as a doctor in a foreign country, The Avengers begins with Bruce working as a doctor in a foreign country
08: Ends with Bruce hiding in a Cabin
03: Hulk says "Puny Human", in The Avengers he says "Puny God"
08: Hulk has no such line
03: Hulk rides on the back of a jet, just like in The Avengers
08: No Jet ride
03: They explore and sort of bring up the psychological side of the dynamic between the Banner and Hulk personalities....which pays off in Ragnarok, Infinity War, and Avengers 4
08: No real dynamic or relationship between the two, Hulk isn't really portrayed as a character
Eric Bana could believably 'age into' Mark Ruffalo more convincingly than Edward Norton
The only thing 2008 Hulk has going for it is that it is "officially" in the MCU, has references to SHIELD, Stark Industries, Captain America and a Tony Stark cameo.
Yeah Hulk 2003 is better to me but I can't decide which is better 2003 or 2008 they're like equal
That's funny because Ruffalo sucks
Yoy made some good points but i only got half way through all this
ChrisPeteG 08hulk leads into avengers
that was a great analysis of the two versions of the hulk from 2003 and 2008 good sir.
Man I have never loved a single superhero more than Hulk why because I see so much of myself in him that's why I relate to him
same here man because when i was a kid and everytime i was angry i believed i could be the hulk
It is a shame that continuation of that movie was not made.
Here’s what’s great about this scene. It shows that Bruce Banner has learned to become one with the Hulk. He realizes he can use this ability for good instead of being afraid of it as he was the whole time. He may seem lost but in reality he has become one with himself.
One of the best movies in Marvel history.
Damn I would have loved to see that play out
This is when the hulk looked more real then the avengers one I get that there were different cgi back then but to me hulk should've stayed like that here
In all honesty, the movie ended when it finally started getting good again!!! This scene always gave me chills and made me want more from the hulk.
Its cool that the Edward Norton reboot continued the story and it's actually a sequel!!
1:03 "me está enojando" Que grande Eric hablando español, es tremendo 😃👏👏👏👏😉👍👍
Hands down the BEST hulk movie and the absolutely most beautiful ending scene where his last lines are the ICONIC Dr. David Bruce Banner warning.
Kinda wish the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films, this Hulk movie, the Fantastic Four and the Xmen films were part of the same universe
