You know what on second thought! That might have been a setup//clickbait. There was a pilot that does or used to frequent air shows in an older tail dragger. The announcer would announce that there is a drunk in an airplane or something to that nature. This guy would take off and the stuff he would do made you think he was drunk. He'd come with an inches of crashing pull it off all the time and of course as it turned out he was a very talented pilot! For all we know this guy in the Jeep in the boat could have been a professional truck driver. He came so close to making it so many times and then messed it up you wonder! A couple of times when he was at a tight 90° angle he stopped just short of causing damage. A couple of times he got really close to the docks but stopped just in time and corrected. Maybe old Alfred needed a little stimulus for his site.
Three years from now the boat will be for sale with one hour run time for winterizing the engine and flushing it out and the trailer will need new tires.

Honestly, all he had to do was line up straight , put his vehicle (which 100% is not rated to tow that package by the way) in neutral, take his hands off the wheel and let gravity do the rest. The boat will pull you down straight.
My grandpa told me “back the trailer not the truck” but I think the best advice is keep one hand on the bottom center of the wheel. Move your hand in the direction you want the trailer to go.
...while also on the phone complaining angrily to his wife how he believes that he was sold a bad trailer with the boat because it isnt working the right way like its suppose to when used in reverse...lol!
This is the ramp in Boynton Beach Florida, I use it multiple times a week. I’m here to tell anyone that doesn’t know this already to PUT YOUR HAND ON THE BOTTOM OF THE STEERING WHEEL at the 6oclock position when backing up a trailer. Literally just swing your hand to whatever way you want the trailer to go. I used to sell boats and have taught many people using this method. Don’t overcorrect, let the trailer move before adjusting the wheel. If you have the truck/trailer straight and lined up to the water, you should never really need to swing the wheel past the 3oclock or 9oclock position while backing up, so try to position the truck/trailer as straight as you can so it’s mostly just a straight shot backwards to the water. Not always possible but still keep your hand planted at that 6oclock position. Good luck and happy boating!
Great advice, I used to work at a pool supply store that sold hot tubs and we had a "70 Ford F250 and a 32' flatbed trailer that used to be a camper trailer to pick the hot tubs up at the manufacturer, the manager used to drive the first couple times then had me take over, I practiced a few times in the parking lot then backed into the truck dock slot between Kenworths and Peterbilts, It was white knuckling at first but went perfect, The key to it is not to over steer and follow the arch of the trailer turn
The fact that he stopped right before hitting the dock a couple times is a good clue, but yeah getting out and kicking the trailer tires was a lot of Hollywood
I once watched a Family Guy episode when Peter tried to launch a boat on the ramp. I honestly thought the cartoon was over exaggerating launching a boat. This guy is definitely a real life “Peter”
it was staged for the camera guy, no way anyone that appears that incompetent at the boat ramp could have driven miles through city traffic without incident, this was a clown act for the camera
If this guy has this much trouble backing a trailer can you imagine the Chit show with him operating the boat in the water! Talk about Captain Chaos!!! 😂😂
some people just like to learn on their own. hardest thing for alot of people backing big boats is relying on their mirrors. can be off putting and confusing. +Respect to that dude for continuing to learn and for picking a slow day at the ramp to do it. we all started the exact same way when learning to reverse a trailer. Good on him
No he wasn't! He had every intention of launching that boat. I wish he had! I don't think he'd ever gotten it out of the water though. He has more patience than anybody I ever saw. When he was finally done though he headed for the highway. He didn't put his back straps back on. Hope the boat stays on the trailer! The guys got to be smart or something. Between the Jeep and the boat is probably looking at 150 200 grand. Sure can't back up though. I'd have had that thing back there in about 2 minutes and givein him 5 cents change. He's probably a dentist! Has to take his time doing stuff! He needs to find somebody to teach him how to back up. He was so close at times. Yet so far away! Towards the end he seemed to be getting it with less corrections. But nope went back to his old way. Got to say though he had the circles down he did those pretty good. He was also able to do a pretty nice 90°. Those can get scary and expensive! Oops big crease in the back of the jeep. If he can't handle the Jeep and the trailer how he could be expected to handle the boat on the water. On a side note, the only way I can watch this long video was to mute the volume. Too much chatter! Gives me a headache! Otherwise the video was pretty decent
@@nerysjohnson4819 we all have to know our limitations! I'll bet you with some instruction you'd have it down. Not as hard as you think! Line it up in the beginning. Survey the area you're going to be backing into. I always found it easier to use one mirror and make small corrections. Some people say put your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel and turn it in the direction that you want the trailer to go. I never had to use that trick cuz I had a lot of experience moving around equipment. But it might work for those that don't.
@@lightningstrikestwice6302 thanks for the advice. Hopefully the dock will be empty and I can try it. It can be so stressful seeing everyone launch so quickly.
This is one of the best Chit shows ever, so entertaining to watch! But I also love that this new guy picked a quiet day at the ramp to go and try to figure it out.
That’s because it’s staged. Tell me how he did a perfect full circle in reverse which is 100 times harder to do than simply backing it down ramp? And dude checking the prop and kicking the tires while over dramatizing a clearly fake phone call. This is so obviously set up
That reverse 360 was friggin epic. I thought he was gonna glide it into position and punk you but nope he gave up. And no way he was practicing w a brand new boat bc you practice w an empty trailer so you can see/understand steering. That was entertaining
OMG! When I was new I wasn’t anywhere that bad. Loved the hand gestures while on the phone and checking the tires like they were causing it to go side to side..Tip for newbies, steer from the bottom of the steering wheel when back. Go right by turn the bottom to the right. Go left by turning the bottom of the wheel to the left. Small movements unless you want a tight turn.
Bro literally had it a few times and thought "nope. I'll turn the wheel some more. No way it's that easy"🤣🤣🤣 He wants to learn by himself lmao. Dude is insane, making the same mistake over and over and over
Those of us who grew up on the river/lake/ocean forget how this can be difficult for new boat owners. Ive helped many who looked like they were about to blow a gasket trying to back one. Best advice is slow down and think about which way you need to turn then move a little.
@@newsnowbc1934 Yup some people are in-capable of doing what should be an easy task. My first time backing up a boat took me maybe 2 minutes max to get it aligned with the dock and down the ramp. The guy in a vid is over confident, Backing up a boat isn't hard its just small movements and predicting where it will go and correcting prior to it moving.
I saw someone say to put your hand at 6 o'clock on the steering wheel and then look back and turn your hand in the direction you want the trailer to go. Makes sense.
Hi Alfred, I can't help but make a comment on your video. Please let the folks out there know a few things about launching a boat: (1) Practice backing your trailer in a vacant parking lot. Not at the boat landing. (2) The parking (emergency) brake ONLY works on the rear tires, NOT the front. If they locked up the front, a person would lose control if they were to use the e-brake while driving. (3) Using 4 wheel drive can help to provide traction to the front tires. But NOT while in park. (4) Using a bar clamp to depress the brake pedal while parked on the ramp applies the FRONT AND REAR brakes. This could prevent a vehicle from losing traction on the rear tires and slipping into the water. Using your channel to provide useful information to novice boaters could be a great service to the entire boating community. I like your channel and enjoy what you are providing. Keep up the good work!!
I took my 11 year old daughter to the alpha beta parking lot at 6 a.m. to practice backing our boat up. After 2 times she said she felt ready, l got on board and she did it perfect. One time at extreme low tide, she picked up 12 different boats. It was a day we all had to help each other. I've always been proud of her. Mike
You know, if dude just accepted some help those guys they could've taught him about turning the wheel the opposite way and just use SMALL turns of correction. Dude would've learned it in a couple trys.
It's hilarious that states require people to have a motorcycle endorsement, yet every state don't require ANY endorsements for trailers, or RVs etc...The logic behind this literally makes no sense to me. I hold a CDL A commercial driver's license. It took me 3 week of study, practice, 3 different tests required by the DOT just to get my CDL A permit
I’m Cajun from south central Louisiana. I live on the bayou & there is 3 boat ramps within a mile & 5 more within 4 miles of my home. I have 2 boats & a jet ski so I’m at the ramps often & I’ll tell you commercial fisherman are the fastest in & out and most courteous. Most bass fisherman are quick & courteous at the ramps. We have a lot of Couyons (Cajun French slang for Dumba$$) with race boats/speed boats that love to block the ramps & even the gas pumps at the stations near the landings. Just yesterday, I pulled up to the gas pump, race boat guy was already at a pump. I filled my truck, pulled out the way & went into the store. The station owner is an old HS friend, I talked with him for a good 20 minutes, when I walked out, the race boat guy is still at the pump & he’s walking around trying to strike up conversations about his boat. Seeking admirations about his boat while blocking everyone out. They usually don’t prep before, they pull up to the ramp, then unstrap, put in plug, all while taking their time & praying that someone walks up & admires their boat so he can brag about his boat! I rather deal with a newby then the Couyons!!
Yes, cause that’s smart. Why so many new boaters, who’ve clearly never driven with trailers, choose to try to figure out backing with a trailer AT the boat ramp is beyond me. Especially when I see or hear about new people choosing to do so at the busiest times at the ramp. Just so foolish.
😆 I remember my first time at the boat ramp. I think it took me about 7 min. to get it in the water and I was so embarrassed. This dude is just ridiculous. 😅🤣😂
I recon this guy just wanted to practice reversing on the ramp, and all the fenders were to protect his pride and joy just in case he really fk’d up 🤣 I’ve always had trailers and boats since I got my driving license at 17, some 53 years ago, and I can remember practicing reversing my trailer on some wasteland close to home. I set up some cones and practiced aiming at them until I could park the trailer straight between them. Took me ages, but once learned you never forget, and now I can put a trailer wherever I want to with confidence. Hell get it, sooner or later. The boat ramp is a gift that keeps on giving - entertainment wise, these videos are hilarious - Thank you for the laughs ❤️🇷🇴
Holy Chit! I'm with you Alfred, he had every intention of putting that boat in the water. Everybody has to learn. But the time to learn is not backing down the ramp. Set up some cones in a walmart parking lot at 3 a.m. And have a spotter!
I stumbled upon this channel and I watched this in awe. Being Dutch I have no idea about how driving licenses are given to people in the US of A, but here in the Netherlands you have to have a license for your car but also a license to tow a trailer of that size. You have to take lessons at a driving school to be able to do this.
This is why practice in a parking lot is necessary. I took my wife to an abandoned mall parking lot to practice towing and backing up a trailer. Her confidence went up big time and she understood the process by spending time behind the wheel.
He could spend years practicing, if he can't figure out by himself how a trailer work and if he refuses help, then he will never manage to back up a trailer.
As a seasoned 3rd gen trucker, I find it entertaining to watch the average Joe attempt to back a trailer. It takes quite a bit of skill, finesse, and spacial awareness to really get good at it. Just like any other skill it takes practice and patience to perfect. Grab some orange cones from a department store, find an empty parking lot in your area, watch a tutorial or two, and practice. Best to get the hang of it in a controlled, safe environment before you go risking damage to your equipment, whatever it may be.
Learning how to maneuver a trailer for the first time is a challenge, this clip....priceless!! I'm not sure I've ever seen a more determined(yet stubborn) boater. "left hand on the wheel, head looking over right shoulder" is how I was taught, motor skills and hand/eye coordination. Is truly not rocket science.
I have a feeling he couldn’t see past the sides of the boat/trailer, backing blind because of his small SUV. Maybe he needs to install a backup camera on the back of the boat? LMAO!!!
My rule of thumb when I boated was when your cockeyed at the ramp , to pull ahead twice as far as you think you need to straighten out. It always worked like a charm. Another trick is to hold the steering wheel at the bottom while backing and turn the wheel to the direction you need the trailer to turn.
I was backing my dads truck and boat down the ramp when I was about 11 years old or so....people would be amazed when I'd walk to the boat while dad was waiting on me. Good times and I'm glad I learned some stuff from him. God bless
I was laid up one summer due to a kidney operation and my favorite past time was biking to the local boat ramp. Never in my life have I laughed so hard and had so much fun watching the launching and retrieval of idiots with boats. Hours seemed like minutes. So if you are ever board grab a six pack of your favorite beverage, go to the nearest boat ramp and enjoy the show!!!
Yeah because you don’t own a boat never owned a boat and it’s your laughing at people who are new learning a.k.a. you’re not funny you’re gonna laugh till somebody comes over and kicks you right where it hurts
Watching this makes me feel better took me like 10 attempts my first time I ever launched my boat was the first time I drove a trailer bud had a few buddys with me to help back me in lol
Rumor has it he’s still backing up to this day. When I thought my teenage daughter to backup our boat trailer we went to an open parking lot and practiced a lot slowly until she got it. I know it’s super stressful but this guy looked like he really didn’t have any idea or practice at all. But to anyone who’s not done it - it IS a lot harder than it looks.
It is a lot harder than it looks and people just need to be more patient with new boaters, been there, done that. At most ramps I have seen plenty of people willing to help.
I died when he did the full 360 degree reverse circle. 😂🤣😂 Forget the damn boat, this guy needs to go to an empty parking lot and learn how to drive his trailer before anything else .... and THEN take on the boat ramp WITH A FRIEND. Holy hell. God help him and anyone near him if he pulls into a gas station to fuel up with that rig. 🙄🙏
I can imagine him talking to his buddies later on about this day. "Yeah bro I backed my boat in one shot, everyone was amazed. You just gotta know what you're doing."
Man, Alfred, you sure do get me through the day in the office! Always such hilarity, you make me laugh so good bro. Poor first time boater dude..... LOL!
That’s a beautiful boat, crazy to think someone with zero experience on the water buys a nice fishing boat. He probably holds a spinning rod upside down. 🤣
That was hilarious 😂 We are new boaters ourselves but watched lot of videos on how to trailer, launch a boat etc and so far never took us more than a couple of minutes to launch and retrieve our boat.
I watched this video when you first posted it and it's still just as funny now as it was then. I'm still in the camp saying he was putting on a show for you rather than trying to put the boat in the water. He never un strapped the back of the boat and left without pulling in his bumpers
Alfred .... Alfred... Alfred.... you and your buddy put on a good show!!! Good show 👏 👍 .... that was funny. STAGED... but funny!! Like a Benny Hill skit!!!
The way that I was taught to back a trailer is you grab the tow vehicles wheel at the bottom. If you want the trailer to go to the right, turn the wheel to the right. To the left it’s the opposite. Works every time.
Albert, you honestly had me going for a while, because I actually THOUGHT it was real, but obviously, it had to be a set up. No way in hell was it legit.....NO WAY !
OML, that guy was so aggressive on turning. Save yourself the embarrassment and Just take the trailer to an empty parking lot and practice backing between some lines. Once your lined up it should only require very light corrections or you need to reset. 🤩
Can’t believe this chit show lasted 28 minutes 🤩
Best one yet !
And no boat in the water . That's the best part
Bro getting your boat lined up does no good if your vehicle isn't in line with the trailer. As soon as you start backwards you're off line
Can you imagine the new Chit Show level reached if this guy tried this on a holiday or a weekend? Holy crap, Bro.
That boat is scared, after this it is going to need a lifetime of councelling.

They are practicing just like at the airport its a training time at the launch
I have seen this before. Anybody who puts their boat in the water with any regularity will see somebody like this every once in a while.
Steer the trailer, not the car
Great advice, I used to work at a pool supply store that sold hot tubs and we had a "70 Ford F250 and a 32' flatbed trailer that used to be a camper trailer to pick the hot tubs up at the manufacturer, the manager used to drive the first couple times then had me take over, I practiced a few times in the parking lot then backed into the truck dock slot between Kenworths and Peterbilts, It was white knuckling at first but went perfect, The key to it is not to over steer and follow the arch of the trailer turn
Thank you , for the help , not everyone’s a pro . And I’d add why laugh at newcomers , we all are new at something

I love the walk around trying to find a reason that the trailer is the problem, checking the tire pressure 🤣
Ok when the guy started kicking the trailer tires, it confirmed this was a set up video. Well done 👏
That's the all time record of launch attempts I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Unbelievable.
some people just like to learn on their own. hardest thing for alot of people backing big boats is relying on their mirrors. can be off putting and confusing. +Respect to that dude for continuing to learn and for picking a slow day at the ramp to do it. we all started the exact same way when learning to reverse a trailer. Good on him
At least the guy was smart enough to come and practice when the ramp wasn't too busy.
Shoulda gone to a big empty parking lot
As a female who has a boat I don't know how to back up I always ask for someone to do it for me
No he wasn't!
He picked a slow day because it was a staged video, which couldn't be done on a weekend.

Those of us who grew up on the river/lake/ocean forget how this can be difficult for new boat owners. Ive helped many who looked like they were about to blow a gasket trying to back one. Best advice is slow down and think about which way you need to turn then move a little.
Not really, I didn't do the best job my 1st time, but nothing like this.
They key, was watching a lot of video on how to.
Never turn the wheel all the way to lock when backing up a trailer. This guy must have done it 50 times.
There's no excuse for this. Whoever gave that man a drivers license should be arrested.
I always thought busy boat ramps should have a chair umpire up there calling out plays
👏 well done you know how to reverse a trailer down a ramp.
Mike

It's hilarious that states require people to have a motorcycle endorsement, yet every state don't require ANY endorsements for trailers, or RVs etc...The logic behind this literally makes no sense to me. @-_.._._--_.-.-_-_-_-...-.- omg thank yourself so much for this. ✌️. 🐐
When I bought my boat I practiced in an empty parking lot how to back up the trailer. Another good chit show. Thank You for sharing. Stay Safe!!
I recon this guy just wanted to practice reversing on the ramp, and all the fenders were to protect his pride and joy just in case he really fk’d up 🤣
I’ve always had trailers and boats since I got my driving license at 17, some 53 years ago, and I can remember practicing reversing my trailer on some wasteland close to home.
He's never going to get the boat out of the water 😆 🤣 😂 😹
Alfred did you pay this guy to deliver this epic footage?!?🤣
Yup because he did a full circle backing up.

The FULL circle backup🤣🤣🤣..reading these comments.. I can vividly re-see the video play by play🤣
He had too.
Looks staged to me.
Holy Chit! I'm with you Alfred, he had every intention of putting that boat in the water. Everybody has to learn. But the time to learn is not backing down the ramp. Set up some cones in a walmart parking lot at 3 a.m. And have a spotter!
He needs weeks of professional training. Or i would not trust him on the water.
I guess everyone learns at different paste I got it first try without ever driving with a traile lol
But then why is the boat still strapped to the trailer. You have all been punked.
It’s the same here in the USA, but it depends on the size and weight of the trailer.
It appears, if you have a pulse you can get a drivers license, that's all you need a pulse.
As a Dutch person I can confirm this
Yeah because the government is so great at making sure we all know what we're doing.😂
Most trailers you can tow with a "regular" drivers license, if you get above 11.8 Metric Tons of combined weight you'll need a different license.
Dude! He had it so many times! It was a Chit Show!!
That guy is one of the greatest boat ramp trolls of all time lol. Well played.Alfred I think you might be right. Someone was effing with you
This is why practice in a parking lot is necessary.
Honestly they really ought to mandate some kind of license endorsement for using a trailer or something people like this are gonna get people killed
This was the very first "chit show" video I ever saw. All downhill after this one....😂😂😂
LMAO!!!
My first lesson was "Do the opposite of your instinct" and that simple lesson alone has made towing in reverse manageable for me.
I was always told “steer towards the problem” and that made something click for me.
Legend has it that this man is still doing circles in the parking lot!!!
He talked to someone who told him how to back up, but he forgot to unhook the rear straps. That’s a classic.
So if you are ever board grab a six pack of your favorite beverage, go to the nearest boat ramp and enjoy the show!!!
