The guy who steered his boat into the curb and saved it its my hero. Boat fails are so FAIL because they have this slow motion effect with all the anticipation. BeautiFAIL.
I sympathize with the guy at 9:20. I remember my first time backing up a trailer. It takes practice. Luckily for me, my first time wasn't at a crowded dock.
Most folks aren't competent in the art of opposite steering. To initiate a turn with your trailer, you turn your steering in the opposite direction. If you're correcting a trailer that's drifting off to the side you turn the wheel WITH the trailer. For example if you're backing down the ramp and your trailer starts drifting off to the right, you turn your wheel to the right until it straightens out. The key is to catch the drift in time or you're gonna jack knife the trailer and end up like the guy in the video chasing your oversteer all the way across the ramp. That guy should have pulled forward, straightened the trailer out and tried again SLOWLY. I know it sounds easy on paper but it gets easier with PRACTICE! (that's the key) it's another skill you need to learn as a boat owner.
When I was a little boy, my father towed out 18 foot family /ski boat with his '72 Pontiac Bonneville. The car was strong enough to handle the weight and fortunately father could handle steering the trailer well... The hardest part was the 'sludge" or "goop' that used to grow on the cement boat ramp under the water.... Our car used to slide and slide around, spinning it's wheels trying to get that boat in and out! :-O

Fuckin love having a backup camera for the small trailers
Very true. I learned to drop my tailgate to get a clear view of my small trailer. I swear that asshole trailer has a mind of its own sometimes.
Don't you just have to have the trailer straight and the wheel straight and put it in reverse?
@@bllasae You don't have a small trailer...... just a guess 😊

It didn't have an outboard engine, it was an inboard engine and jet propulsion.
The rocks didn't seem to care about that arrangement either.
I will give him credit for trying, but that’s about all

The two lads in the boat in the pool you made us proud...how legends are made..lmfao
Being a boater for many years I can't tell you how many times I have seen people not being able to back up a trailer.
Many can't drive forward competently, let alone in reverse!
Same here, takes practice. Best advice I ever got.... never approach anything with your boat faster than you’re willing to crash into it.

Simple. Turn the opposite way you want the trailer to go. Nothing to it.

They were taking waves in the flank though. Never supposed to do that. Maybe an engine malfunction.
I've seen the clip a few times. Cruise ships have stabilisers that keep the ship from rocking meaning they dont need to mount anything. This is what happens when the stabilisers fail. (If they didn't have this, many passengers would get sea sick)

Amazing how many cruise ships are involved in collisions that seem completely avoidable if only someone was watching what they were doing .. or maybe not drinking on duty..😱😱

@@sweeptheleg. also the shorter the trailer the more difficult it is.
Easiest way is grab bottom of steering wheel now if you want boat to go left turn wheel to left from bottom of wheel.
@@dhammer5645 True, that's why i emphasized going slowly especially when practicing.
