Also has LOUD audio, even tho the speakers aren't in necessarily prime locations it really projects!You do need to get a case for this bad boy IMMEDIATLY though as it doesn't come with one.Battery life is really good! Standby time us FANTASTIC. This guy can go about a week on standby and be just fine. The screen is massive so the longer you have the screen on, brightness especially, it will effect battery life. I am very happy with it though!One thing that I didn't consider is that since the screen resolution is so high, viewing ticktocks/ reading webtoons can be slightly blurry. There is no way to turn down resolution either, so it just be like that.Would still judge this bad boi at 10/10 for my first tablet. I've had it 3 months now and its not shown any evidence of "slowing down" or anything. Love it!
You need to update this video. The Tab S3 is soooo much better now. And word to the unwise, anyone who recommends to buy a Chromebook loses all credibility.
Excellent video, but the old Note7 jokes are really tiresome at this stage. It's good to know when it's time to call it a day. 😴😴😴 Just a tip, for documents and browsing I change the display mode to a setting more suitable for reading.
1) 4:3 Aspect ratio isn't really great for media consumption. 2) Glass back on a tablet is way too risky. 3) 32GB of Internal storage is unacceptable in 2017, should be 64GB minimum.
I'm watching this on my Tab S3 and I really like it. I'm currently on Vacation in Canada and I use the tab a lot to plan my trip and watch Yt and Netflix. And if the display is oversaturated for you, you can change it in the settings to a more natural look ;)

being somewhat of a techie, I actually have the tab S3 plus a Chromebook-- Samsung's own Chromebook Plus. I kind of agree with you, these new Chromebooks, especially the ones with Android apps, probably better represent the future and a way to have a true laptop experience plus tablet experience. However, I needed the tab S3 because honestly, it is easier to write notes on than even the pen that comes with the Chromebook Plus.
I like to edit videos with Kinemaster on my samsung s2 , Kinemaster supports 4k videos but ur device has to be able to edit them as well would the Samsung s3 be a better choice, can it edit at least 2.7k the s2 max is 1080p , just wondering thanks for any help
Hello Matthew, I was watching your video but I had to stop at the moment you said the screen produced oversaturated colors. I wanted to tell that since the Galaxy Note 4 three years, samsung includes several color profiles in the display settings, so if you go there and select SRGB, the colors will be much more less saturated and that is the mode I always have on. The default color mode is good for movies but as I said you can change it at any time.
Great review! For a long time, I couldn't decide between buying this or buying the Samsung Chromebook Plus. I finally got the Chromebook Plus about two weeks ago. I'm glad I did. For about $300 less (if you include the keyboard accessory) I got a product which is almost equal to the Tab S3 in display and stylus and equal to (or better than) the Tab S3 in every other way. Plus, (no pun intended), I can also get updates direct from Google and have the added functionality of a Chromebook. I think I made the right choice.

Would be good to see a current review of the pixel C as it's a different machine to what is was on launch, especially after Nougat and Android O. Much better keyboard and works great with a Bluetooth mouse
what about OTG support? you can plug external hhd or SSD in the 3.1 USB type C with some HUB, even you can have several USB 3.0 usb, HDMI out and put cable mouse at the same time. English isn't my first language,
nddd nss all those full versions does not matter much. You can check the reviews on onenote vs notability as a note taking app. And full version of Microsoft words and other ones needs a subscription as far as I know. Having google docs, sheet and slides is better cause it’s completely free. Atleast that is what I use on my tab 2. However for drawing procreate is unbeatable and android developers are too lazy to develop something good for android tabs.
@@theflippingcoin975 no, with samsung you get it with free use, you+re not locked down to cloud etc (which is logical, sincu you could actually use external storage on android, which is not possible on ios). oh, and you get pen included and keyboard is not that expensive too. try that with ipad, you must shelf another 300 bucks or so, just to buy this.
izoyt without any doubt local storage option is very useful but for my spreadsheets and note files I would like them to stay in cloud. To access all the cloud features I needed to subscribe and I am using tab 2. But maybe it’s different with tab 3.
I still prefer my Samsung Tab S 10.5 inches with 32 Gb storsge and 3 Gb Ram. The main camera with flash, i bought it 2 years ago with bluetooth keyboard free of charge. Now has upgraded to Android 6.01. what do u think? Any comparison between these 2 tablet? Thank you.
Not sure if Matthew responds but here we go. I am having a huge problem finding a device for my exact needs. My Samsung original Tab S finally died, and it has been difficult finding a replacement device. Now I usually only do RUclips, Facebook, Instagram, Netflix, and Android based movie apps such as Terrarium TV. But being an artist and with the new increased pen technology I would want something for doing some art stuff on with a pen along with my video and social media. I dont want a lap tap replacement as my jacked to the max Lenova P50 has that covered. Ant feedback welcome thanks all
Ipad doesn't have a file manager. my s5 is a better laptop replacement than an Ipad because it has that file manager. I could get a extension and actually plug in a usb thumb drive into my phone or my tab s3 and get the file. Ipad cant do anything like that. great review but Samsung tablets are miles closer replacing a laptop than any Ipad is.
Matthew Moniz its still basically an icloud drive not even a fully functioning file manager. the point is, the tab s3 has functionality that the ipad pro cant even get close to
ian schoenrock I don't get what the importance of a file manager is. Most of the stuff I open is saved online and I never had a need to browse for a specific file on my S8+.
Bora Chreng file manager is critical for work. Since I bought the S3 I've left my computer at home. I import pics, docs and pdfs for my work and the S3 just does it. I dumped my iPad Pro specifically due to shitty file management. For remote work you can't beat Android. But, to each his/her or it's own.

Reasons for going with iPad are not good reasons and purely subjective. If you have Apple products at home already, stick to it. The Tab S3 is simply more functional but...that too depends on what you need the tablet for.
Just set the display to Basic mode. The colors get toned down. I turn on the sRGB option on every phone with an AMOLED display I use. Oversaturated colors annoy me.

Though honesty, android is, ESPECIALLY on a tablet which is geared way more towards productivity, a much much better OS. Noy being able to organise your files, and having no good way to manage files you download is a dhame. Ipads are annoyingly limited when you don't combine them with mac os PC. So I'd say it's just the best tablet, period. Minus the oversaturation, guess Samsung really does never learn
ApplepieFTW Most Android apps aren't designed to take advantaged of the full display size, as they're basically scaled up phone apps, but all the iPad apps fully use the display. It's a lot more productive.

I want a really good tablet for overall best functionality with enough horses to do every possible computing tasks while on the go. Searched many tablets, even bought Ipad pro 9.7 wit apple pencil (worst decision ever!, sold it right away due to restrictive ios). Then Microsoft surface pro 4 caught my attention. Its the best tablet you can get and unlike ipad pro, it CAN be a true PC replacement as it runs full desktop OS! I am waiting for surface pro 5.
I wish samsung brought a 9:16 aspect ratio on this one. I had the Tab S 10.1 and was using it for content and games. It was perfect for movies and netflix. I switched to a Tab S2 just because the Tab S had 16Gb and I filled it up with apps fast. The S2 is alright but the wide screen is nice to have for movies.
Hi there. A very truth review from you and I know what to get now. I agree in every way that the tablet can do a lot of stuff. For sosmed or other apps require high resolution like the Netflix. It will do great works.
One mistake tablet reviewers do is to compare android tablets to laptops. The entire point of using an android tablet over a laptop is the cost of apps vs cost of software($19.99 vs $300) and the ability to easily wipe and reinstall apps vs calling Geek Squad to clean your virus. These two advantages make tablets and laptops not comparable. Although the usages overlap, they are simply different devices, meant for different purposes. Not to mention that tablets turn on instantly where laptops take time to boot. And with the new windows 10, you're constantly in fear that Windows update is going to kill your hotspot's data usage. So you really have to be careful when you compare a tablet to a laptop.. it is just not right. You seem to be targeting the small population that wants to buy 1 tablet to replace their laptop. We're probably 15 years short of that having the chance of happening.
bickerin yeah..both devices have different purpose.. tablets run on mobile OS. But they due to their larger screen size they are far better at some things than a phone like browsing,Maps and RUclips. And you get a high end Samsung tab S2 at 300 dollars. I don't think a laptop in that price range would even come close in terms of display quality and battery life

Bought this online to replace the iPad Pro 9.7 as it sounded like a much better media consumption device. While the screen is nice, it also lacks detail in the shadows. I can live with that as it's nice and vivid and I don't care too much about accurate colours in RUclips/Netflix/etc. However the speakers are pathetic, did you play them side by side? The iPad is much much louder, has more depth and overall sounds perfect. In comparison, the tab s3 speakers sound like small phone speakers, not nearly as loud and lack any form of depth. This was a total disappointment and made me return it. Not sure why you say they sound about the same as they clearly don't. I've compared them with the same content, both with local videos, streaming video and music from different sources.

It's just fanboyism. Even someone like me who was a hard core Android fanboy back in 2013 got converted after using an iPad. Android tablets are all specs, no go. It's almost like a dodge hellcat with it's tyre wrecking 770lb/ft torque with spring leaf suspension and roads that are as lumpy as a teenager's face. Neither is a good combo, but whats worse is that Android on a tablet doesn't have anything to use it's hardware to it's full potential. The iPad in comparison is like a sweet sounding, highly engineered N/A Lexus LFA with the modest, yet powerful smooth revving V10 on a track.

Had a tab s2, broke down after 1 yr 2 months Bought the tab s3...disappointed. The usb connection was not very durable, already felt loose. The speakers would be louder one side the the other and sometimes go back and forth...left to right and back again. I like the tab s 2 better but they were just about the same price so... I bought the new iPad which was cheaper, seems to work just as good and better in some cases. First apple product in 15 yrs.

I really wanted my second tablet to be android (since I already own 10.5 inch ipad pro 4g 256gb with stylus and smart keyboard) but even the best android tablet samsung tab s3 is far behind with much slower cpu gpu. no 120hz display and apps arent optimized to tablet unlike ipad.. If samsung tab s4 doesnt step up its tablet game with 120hz display and/or snap 845 (it might come with 835...) then my second tablet might be 2018 ipad pro or even 2018 base ipad 9.7 inch... I really hope samsung delivers a better tablet with s4
Why are you even comparing a tablet to a laptop? They don't do all of the same things and are for different demographics. Tablets for casual recreation and word processing and laptops for power users on the go. If you wanted to compare a Samsung device to laptops in the first place, review the Galaxy TabPro S which is an actual Windows 10 64-bit laptop made by Samsung. It's like comparing a compact car to an SUV, both get you from point A to B but the experience, scenarios, and practical uses are very different.

Yes, the performance is definitely laggy, app optimization is maybe part of the problem but the processor is trash. Keyboard is terrible with a capital T, laggy and cramped. S Pen is FANTASTIC on this tablet, best I've ever experienced.
I think you'd rather have a Logitech bluetooth keyboard, they're cheaper and perform better than Samsung's case, and they have all the shortcut keys (home, back, recent, volume...etc)
Why samsung Tab S3 is not having 64GB/128 GB internal storage and 10.5 inch or 12.9 inch QHD screen just like Ipad Pro? If Samsung does not want to duplicate IPAD Pro, then they can always go for 10.9 inch or 12.5 inch screen at least.
I've always dreamed the day Android will make it easy to the very least, make it easy to connect any Android device to a projector/monitor. If you want to reach the masses who want a cheaper tablet for work/school, get this feature on as standard. Android doesn't care. Period.
What so bad being just android tablet (it is actually plus)? _And what exactly does for ex. ipad pro do so much better in terms of regular use (watching videos, sending mail, writing notes etc)? it does have advantage only in apps, which are more or less contracted ta apple (morpholio, procreate etc), but than again, you can't do basic stuff just like connect regular usb dongle to transfer files etc. in terms of usability in really comes down to ios vs android and there's no brainer, android does more and doesn't lock you down to use expensive cloud superscriptions, buys stupidly priced gizmos etc. No matter how super duper ipad hardware is. Speaking also as ipad pro user.
A true laptop replacement is the Surface Pro Series by Microsoft and I don't care about tablet optimized apps as what I use works just fine leave the real work for the desktop grade OS like Windows and Mac OS. Plus Android in my opinion is better than iOS and I'd pick a Samsung tablet over the crippled iPad or iPhone as I can make Android work my way and look how I want it to plus I can put an app icon any damn where I want to on my home screen.

Android has the full Word, Excel, Powerpoint, OneNote and Lightroom. I'm not sure how this isnt better than ipad or chromebook

I could get a extension and actually plug in a usb thumb drive into my phone or my tab s3 and get the file. Ipad cant do anything like that. great review but Samsung tablets are miles closer replacing a laptop than any Ipad is.

Bora Chreng file manager is critical for work. Since I bought the S3 I've left my computer at home. I import pics, docs and pdfs for my work and the S3 just does it. I dumped my iPad Pro specifically due to shitty file management. For remote work you can't beat Android. But, to each his/her or it's own.

Reasons for going with iPad are not good reasons and purely subjective. If you have Apple products at home already, stick to it. The Tab S3 is simply more functional but...that too depends on what you need the tablet for.
Just set the display to Basic mode. The colors get toned down. I turn on the sRGB option on every phone with an AMOLED display I use. Oversaturated colors annoy me.

Though honesty, android is, ESPECIALLY on a tablet which is geared way more towards productivity, a much much better OS. Noy being able to organise your files, and having no good way to manage files you download is a dhame. Ipads are annoyingly limited when you don't combine them with mac os PC. So I'd say it's just the best tablet, period. Minus the oversaturation, guess Samsung really does never learn
ApplepieFTW Most Android apps aren't designed to take advantaged of the full display size, as they're basically scaled up phone apps, but all the iPad apps fully use the display. It's a lot more productive.

I want a really good tablet for overall best functionality with enough horses to do every possible computing tasks while on the go. Searched many tablets, even bought Ipad pro 9.7 wit apple pencil (worst decision ever!, sold it right away due to restrictive ios). Then Microsoft surface pro 4 caught my attention. Its the best tablet you can get and unlike ipad pro, it CAN be a true PC replacement as it runs full desktop OS! I am waiting for surface pro 5.
I wish samsung brought a 9:16 aspect ratio on this one. I had the Tab S 10.1 and was using it for content and games. It was perfect for movies and netflix. I switched to a Tab S2 just because the Tab S had 16Gb and I filled it up with apps fast. The S2 is alright but the wide screen is nice to have for movies.
Ya for movie watching I too prefer 16:9, since most films are filmed in that aspect ratio

One mistake tablet reviewers do is to compare android tablets to laptops. The entire point of using an android tablet over a laptop is the cost of apps vs cost of software($19.99 vs $300) and the ability to easily wipe and reinstall apps vs calling Geek Squad to clean your virus. These two advantages make tablets and laptops not comparable. Although the usages overlap, they are simply different devices, meant for different purposes. Not to mention that tablets turn on instantly where laptops take time to boot. And with the new windows 10, you're constantly in fear that Windows update is going to kill your hotspot's data usage. So you really have to be careful when you compare a tablet to a laptop.. it is just not right. You seem to be targeting the small population that wants to buy 1 tablet to replace their laptop. We're probably 15 years short of that having the chance of happening.
bickerin yeah..both devices have different purpose.. tablets run on mobile OS. But they due to their larger screen size they are far better at some things than a phone like browsing,Maps and RUclips. And you get a high end Samsung tab S2 at 300 dollars. I don't think a laptop in that price range would even come close in terms of display quality and battery life

Bought this online to replace the iPad Pro 9.7 as it sounded like a much better media consumption device. While the screen is nice, it also lacks detail in the shadows. I can live with that as it's nice and vivid and I don't care too much about accurate colours in RUclips/Netflix/etc.
However the speakers are pathetic, did you play them side by side? The iPad is much much louder, has more depth and overall sounds perfect. In comparison, the tab s3 speakers sound like small phone speakers, not nearly as loud and lack any form of depth. This was a total disappointment and made me return it. Not sure why you say they sound about the same as they clearly don't. I've compared them with the same content, both with local videos, streaming video and music from different sources.
This is pretty much the android equivalent to the iPad Pro though

It's just fanboyism. Even someone like me who was a hard core Android fanboy back in 2013 got converted after using an iPad.
Android tablets are all specs, no go.
It's almost like a dodge hellcat with it's tyre wrecking 770lb/ft torque with spring leaf suspension and roads that are as lumpy as a teenager's face. Neither is a good combo, but whats worse is that Android on a tablet doesn't have anything to use it's hardware to it's full potential.
The iPad in comparison is like a sweet sounding, highly engineered N/A Lexus LFA with the modest, yet powerful smooth revving V10 on a track.

Had a tab s2, broke down after 1 yr 2 months
Bought the tab s3...disappointed.
The usb connection was not very durable, already felt loose.
The speakers would be louder one side the the other and sometimes go back and forth...left to right and back again.
I like the tab s 2 better but they were just about the same price so...
I bought the new iPad which was cheaper, seems to work just as good and better in some cases.
First apple product in 15 yrs.

I bought the Galaxy Tab S3 last week. I picked it over an iPad Pro mainly due to the price as it was on sale at Best Buy. Very happy with it so far. However the fingerprint sensor really sucks.

I really wanted my second tablet to be android (since I already own 10.5 inch ipad pro 4g 256gb with stylus and smart keyboard) but even the best android tablet samsung tab s3 is far behind with much slower cpu gpu. no 120hz display and apps arent optimized to tablet unlike ipad..
If samsung tab s4 doesnt step up its tablet game with 120hz display and/or snap 845 (it might come with 835...) then my second tablet might be 2018 ipad pro or even 2018 base ipad 9.7 inch...
I really hope samsung delivers a better tablet with s4

Why are you even comparing a tablet to a laptop? They don't do all of the same things and are for different demographics. Tablets for casual recreation and word processing and laptops for power users on the go. If you wanted to compare a Samsung device to laptops in the first place, review the Galaxy TabPro S which is an actual Windows 10 64-bit laptop made by Samsung. It's like comparing a compact car to an SUV, both get you from point A to B but the experience, scenarios, and practical uses are very different.
I'm looking for something to take to class. Type up some notes and maybe download my e-books. Think this would be good?
I'd probably just get an iPad but if you must stick to Android then this is your best option

Yes, the performance is definitely laggy, app optimization is maybe part of the problem but the processor is trash. Keyboard is terrible with a capital T, laggy and cramped. S Pen is FANTASTIC on this tablet, best I've ever experienced.
IIRC there should be some kind of saturation setting in the display settings

Why samsung Tab S3 is not having 64GB/128 GB internal storage and 10.5 inch or 12.9 inch QHD screen just like Ipad Pro? If Samsung does not want to duplicate IPAD Pro, then they can always go for 10.9 inch or 12.5 inch screen at least.
I've always dreamed the day Android will make it easy to the very least, make it easy to connect any Android device to a projector/monitor. If you want to reach the masses who want a cheaper tablet for work/school, get this feature on as standard. Android doesn't care. Period.

You can always buy a drawing pad separately . There's some cheap ones for $60 and are good.

What so bad being just android tablet (it is actually plus)? _And what exactly does for ex. ipad pro do so much better in terms of regular use (watching videos, sending mail, writing notes etc)? it does have advantage only in apps, which are more or less contracted ta apple (morpholio, procreate etc), but than again, you can't do basic stuff just like connect regular usb dongle to transfer files etc. in terms of usability in really comes down to ios vs android and there's no brainer, android does more and doesn't lock you down to use expensive cloud superscriptions, buys stupidly priced gizmos etc. No matter how super duper ipad hardware is. Speaking also as ipad pro user.

It's the ratio of the screen I don't like. All that screen blacked out for 4:3 ratio. I prefer 16:9
A true laptop replacement is the Surface Pro Series by Microsoft and I don't care about tablet optimized apps as what I use works just fine leave the real work for the desktop grade OS like Windows and Mac OS. Plus Android in my opinion is better than iOS and I'd pick a Samsung tablet over the crippled iPad or iPhone as I can make Android work my way and look how I want it to plus I can put an app icon any damn where I want to on my home screen.
