Great reviews, Brad.
Then he said it grew on him
I have been doing art for 4 years, still new to digital (been doing it for 2 years) and decided to get a Samsung S6 Lite 2022 edition tablet for 280€ on Black Friday. No regrets. I'm drawing more than ever since I can draw anywhere and it's very portable. You do have to go to each apps settings and ajust the pressure curve or the tilt sensivity or turn on palm rejection.
I'm considering buying the same one for the same reason. I'm barely drawing on digital bc sitting in front of the pc makes the drawing way more serious and important than it actually is.
I have the s6 lite from back in 2020, and it has become quite a bit slower, do you perhaps have any tips?
Also what app do you use to draw
@@akatrizy I recommend you make a bakcup of all your data (either cloud or SD card) and reset it to factory. Every phone/tablet/pc needs a factory reset from time to time because they collect a lot of useless stuff that take more space etc. Also keep an eye on cache, apps collect a lot of cache overtime not only taking more space from your device but also making the app and the tablet slower. Also never have less than 3GB of free storage, they need to have some GBs free so it can work properly. Less than 2GB and it starts to get slow. I don't know any other tips I can give you besides that.
@@akatrizy I use many, my favorites are 1) Infinite Painter 2) HiPaint 3) Krita . Krita is desktop port so it doesn't work a 100% yet, there's some bugs and crashes but it's gotten better overtime
As someone who only occasionally does digital art, and doesn't care for pen pressure. I'm happy sticking with my A7 Lite and discontinued Wacom Bamboo Tip
Well, I bought S9 plus, and it did not disappoint. Even better, it's so good at everything I throw at it ...games....video processing...a bit drawing and note taking....I seriously wonder why people even go for Apple.
The only sad part is that not many developers have curated high end apps for Android, but that is slowly starting to change.
For instance, goodnotes has got along with Samsung to offer one year free subscription with S9 series tablets and half the price per year after that. Also, clip art and some other great apps which were only available on iOS have offered special subscription for Samsung tablet users, though that only applies to S9 series.
Except goodnotes in android is really bad in experience. That's just web version wrapped as an app, not a real native android app
I really do think the S9 ultra gives you the ultimate drawing experience on Android, insane drawing experience!
The best and most expensive thing is the best? Thanks for the tip
insane price
Honestly, nah. Well, yeah but hear me out: The screen on the Tab S9 Ultra IS massive, but other than that, the actual drawing experience is the exact same as the base Tab S9 and the S9+. They all come with the same S Pen, with the same 2.9ms latency, all with 120Hz AMOLED screens, and the same processor to power the same apps...
Out of interest, (and I apologise for asking a question unrelated to the video TOPIC, but is related to the VIDEO itself) what camera & lens combination are you using for your 'head and shoulder' shots where you are talking directly to us on camera? The quality is great! Lighting helps a great deal, but still; lovely and sharp, nicely in focus. I'm just curious.
My Samsung S9FE was just what I needed for productivity, emails, processing, and spreadsheets. It is handling everything I throw at it and the battery life is great. Great video.
Can u do excel or spreadsheet like on windows with this tablet ? And can u do that with iPad ?
@@brucelin5842 S9 FE can do it
Do you have the 6 or 8gb ram variant. I'm gonna need mainly for note taking but I wonder if 6gb would last for another 3-4 years
@@brucelin5842 I do with this tablet. I am not a Apple guy so I couldn't tell you about the apple experience with office. The xcel on the tablet is going to be slightly different than what your PC look will give you however.
@@yugeshs2397 honestly I went with the base model so 6GB and really just upgraded my SD card with an additional 512 GB of storage. I do believe for what I do it will last.
This review is going to be interesting next year as Huion and XPen are both putting out android tablets with pens. Huion already has it available to purchase, but won't get it till next year anyways.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences 😊
Hello! I think Samsung and Huion and XP-Pen really nailed it this year when it comes to drawing tech, I hope next year you'll review the Huion Kamvas Slate 10 if you can! I'm so excited what new drawing tech we'll about to see next year!
Thank you Brad! love your videos
The line wobble on that Ruebens is pretty impressive! I didn't think an 'artist' pen like that could possibly get that bad.
Marketing such poor performance to artists is unforgivable. (lbvs)
Must be using MPP 2.0 protocol. Since I notice that N-Trig (now MS) tech on NON-Microsoft products is TERRIBLE. I have external monitors that tout themselves as drawing displays like my PepperJobs does that uses the MPP 2.0 tech and it is AWFUL. My LG V60 had that tech and it was fine for writing, but terrible for drawing. Google at least was smart enough to go with Wacom AES which isn't great, but is 100x better than Micorsoft. THOUGH with that said, I do have their old detachable tablet PC computer thing, Surfacebook 2??? And that wasn't terrible to draw on, that wobble in the screen was not nearly as pronounced, it was still there, but not bad. So, it's apparent that either Microsoft hides the higher end and better tuned digitizers for their own products and then lets others use their inferior tech. I mean Wacom pulls the same stunt with Wacom EMR vs Wacom Cintique, but at least EMR is mature enough that it's not like a MASSIVE step down, also they don't gatekeep tilt. So you can buy old cheap Wacom pens for Samsung devices and the tilt still works since the digitizer behind the screen calculates tilt. Where with MS and AES, the tilt is inside the pen itself.
@@trenton9 it won't be bought by adult artists - it will likely sell to well meaning parents who want a cheap way into digital art for their relatives.
Hi! May I ask which one is better to get? Wacom One DTC133 or Xp-pen Artist 12 2nd gen? I need to decide asap because they keep increasing the price unfortunately. 😩 Happy new year btw. 😬
Could you tell me the program you use for drawing in this video?
Hey, maybe a weird question but I'm hoping someone could help me out with this.
I wanna get back into drawing and I have a samsung tab S7+ and it's still great, but I'm having trouble integrating it into my routine, so it often just ends up laying around.
I was wondering if anyone knows a good stand or arm that I could use with it at my desk, in conjunction with my laptop?
If there's a good adjustable arm that I could use for drawing with it, so that I can use it next to my laptop screen, or then bring it forward with ease when I want to draw? Kind of like how you can mount a pen display on an arm to easily adjust its position, but for my samsung tab specifically.
Thank you in advance, and merry christmas/happy holidays!
Huion and xp-pen are also entering the mobile drawing tablet market. Interesting to see how next year fares. Apple is also supposed to be releasing updates to their iPad lineup
Agree I'm curious what your thoughts on the Huion Slate 10 I recently bought it... and I'm hoping I'm not going to regret it.
@@Writterssoul I can't really say but judging from specs. It's an entry level tablet and should work well for illustrators and content consumption. I'm sure Brad will review it in the coming months.
oh my god is this true? that xp pen will be releasing their android tablet for graphic artists? can you please tell me the name of that model?
@@DAVE-lz9vd it hasn’t been released yet. Just a bunch of teasers on their instagram page.
i used to have the s8 ultra, now i have the s9+ and i believe it's the best size for whatever you plan to use it for. it's easier to carry around and you don't actually lose that much in screen size when drawing or watching content
Was just made aware of a super dope tablet that's budget friendly and might make for a really nice sketching tool. It's the TCL NXT Paper 11 tablet. It has a matte finish display a pen and it looks and feels like an e-ink display but it's an actual LCD display so it doesn't have a lot of the drawbacks an e ink display has! Would love to see a review of it since nobody's done a review approaching the drawing experience and art side of things
I got the s9 fe 5G for free through Verizon with the purchase of my S23 ultra and I loved it so much that I upgraded the " line " it was on to the S9+ 5G for a additional 13$ on the monthly bill
Hello brad. Ended up going with the Tab s9 FE+, mainly because I think the larger screen will be good for drawing, which is one of the main reasons I got it. General reviews for it tend to be a bit harsh, but I hope I made the right choice. Thank you for the review
Is it good? What price did you get it for?
i watch always your videos even though i am not capable of drawing good things, keep up the good work 💙
Same here! I watch for the tech content and to watch someone draw well
all artists start out not being able to draw so don't sweat over it!
You are most definitely capable. And if you try hard it will bring you peace. All you have to do is try.
Why u choose the lite S6 ? The S6 Normal version what about it ?
Thanks for review ❤❤❤
Hi Brad, thanks for the helpful videos! I have questions for you. I regretted buying an iPad 64 GB and sadly the operating system takes about 16 GB and the Procreate takes a lot of GB too, I assumed maybe because I have tons of brushes! I am thinking of buying another tablet for drawing and reading a lot of Epub and PDFs. Would 256 GB enough?
What would be the best tablet to use for content creating?
One thing you should add to these videos in regards to Samsung, like Apple, Samsung has a decent if not healthy TRADE UP program only available on Samsung's site. Like when I bought the Tab S9 series I traded in my S8 plus and got like $500 off the 9 Plus. So it does make that price a little easier to swallow. They do also accept other tablets for trade in, it's a select few. Like you're not going to be able to trade in an Aldocube tablet and get money off your Samsung product. BUT you will 100% be able to trade in your OnePlus tablet or Google, and get at least $200 off, in addition to whatever crazy sale Samsung is running at that time.
Thanks brad 💙
Just put an order for a Samsung S9 FE, cant wait to start drawing
How do you like it?
How is it so far?
@@faye_yunis im trying out different drawing software to find what i like, so far best is still Clip Studio. But i love the feel of the pen
I have tried the S9 ultra and maybe it was a defect of that one but the pen sometimes didn't register when starting a line. Which I found ridiculous since I was comparing it to my ipad from 2018. Maybe it was just that one.
which one is better to buy? an android tablet or drawing tablets like huion or xp pen?
So should I buy iPad Pro 12.9 3-4th gen or new tab 9 fe?
I'm still waiting for a tablet that can run Premiere and Photoshop, that would be an instant buy
Brad Colbow, This is amazing! I can't stop smiling!
Is there a difference between the Pen you get on the Samsung FE and the Samsung s9/ + and ultra?
I can get a s6 lite and s7 within my budget. Should I go with the s7?
is the galaxy's tab s6 pen light? compare to a huion kamvas 12 pen?
which pen are you using for tab without a bundled pen along them
please review the Huion Slate, i am really curious to see it if its any good.
Is the 9 ultra better at the palm rejection issue that the 6 lite suffered?
Question for anyone, please let me know if a older tablet has HDMI do I can connect it to my cpu screen or TV? Thanks
Brad you should review the HP Zbook X2 pen on the current samsung tablets. It's been hailed as having the lowest initial activation pressure on any EMR pen
What app do you use to draw?
Here again, I got my Samsung s6 lite and it does work wonderful. If you are using clip studio paint I would recommend disabling drawing with fingers and color pick by holding (this almost drove me insane)
I have the 8inch samaung galaxy A with spen, which was about 180euro. Came with phone type spen inside the tablet.
Whilst the tablet is slow the drawing apps from Samsung are very fast. Plus being so portable it's fantastic. It's similar to ipad mini in size.
You discoved a major drawback of touchscreens - the need for multi-touch really slows the processor down. By sticking to a pen (or Samsung Spen) you are bypassing a lot of firmware junk.
Any wonder Samsung advertise the touchscreen latency only for a pen.
Got the tab s 6 lite 2019 version when the 22 version came out on sale. Love the newer tablets but this one still goes strong. Got it for notes and gaming cloud and android and it is great. It can't do it all but I'm not a video editor. The s pen features and drawing capabilities are freaking super tho I had no idea.
Did you ever try the Lenovo Tab 11 Pro 2nd Gen?
Wine wobble 😂 thanks for the video. Hope you have a lovely Christmas ❤❤
Also right when he demonstrates the wi- line wobble!
is this buying guide also helpful for University students who take digital notes on tables?
😊
Do you use a screen protector on your s9 ultra?
What is the software you use for drawing?
I've only been drawing on a tablet for a little over a year now. I don't have big money and wasn't sure when I started how invested I should be. I picked up a Lenovo chromebook duet 5 and added an usi stylus. It's been good enough, but how does it stack up to these Android tablets? Is there a big benefit to be had in saving up for a new experience?
First start by eliminating the budget brands, had a Xiaomi a few years back, built quality is not the best, replacement parts (spare battery) almost impossible to acquire, had a nasty habit of alway defaulting location to China (messed up some apps). Although with the Xiaomi it did not have the bloatware of a Samsung.
Can we get the best apps for Android for drawing?
1:59 What app are you using in this video on the xiaomi pad 6?
I love my Xiaomi Pad 6
The only thing holding it back is it's MIUI software, but really it's just enough for everyday use. Most of the time I spent on my tablet is on 3rd party apps anyway.
can you pls explain further? what's MIUI software? I'm planning to buy one next year :)
@@thomasjerusalem1116It's like samsung's OneUI, a somewhat custom version of Android companies make to differentiate their phones from other brands, I'm not sure why it would hold it back though
@@aikesscs oh ok. thank you!
@@thomasjerusalem1116 I have to admit that I'm pretty much a Xiaomi fanboy 😅, but I've been using MIUI for a while now and I can tell you that it's not as bad as some people claim. Yes, it has some drawbacks and some stock apps are straight up garbage (like the gallery app that fucks up the dates and shows years old photos as recent, or the files app that has ads), but in almost every other aspects I find it way better than others. I'm also planning to buy a Pad 6, but I'm not an artist and I'll just use it for entertainment and note taking in school.
hyper os is good
im looking for a tablet you can draw and do nomad sclulpt on you have anny recomendations something with minimal 6g of ram
well i was given the tab 6 lite . not the new version but the old one. and it may not be the fastest. or the smoothest when scrolling. but man does it draw like a charm and jsut the right size that i can lay in bed with it on my chest to ddraw art on... and as long as i can draw on it im satisfied. for other stuff i have my phone... that said i still watch this show even if i dont need a new tablet lol love it
Can you use adobe photoshop on samsung tablets now ? I'm planning to buy an s9 ultra but if it still doesn't support adobe products then I will buy an ipad pro.
Just bought my samsung tab s9 ultra today. The brazilian version of it comes with the keyboard case on the box, and is, right now, cheaper than the s9+. Something crazy went on over here
U cn never go wrong if looking for Drawing on Android Tab Samsung gives everything for you. I have an S7 before I really love using it
Here in Canada, the Xiaomi Pad 6 is selling for about $350-400.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 +/ultra is about $800 /$1200.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE about $500.
I just ordered the S6 Lite, hopefully it will work for a long time
Brad, is there any mobile drawing app that can fully replace ProCreate on Android?
Hi paint is free but if you’re willing to pay clip studio paint
Sketchbook & Ibis Paint X (both for Free) reviewed by this RUclipsr also.
Infinite Painter... has pretty much every thing a Procreate user would want but no *convenient* animation tools, but for the same price, as an illustrator i think this program is just flat out better
CSP undeniably. Plenty of other options are also good. Idk what you mean by "replace" though. No app will be ProCreate. They might be as good, but the experience will be different, and you'll have to adapt. doesn't make them any more capable though
Thoughts on S9FE? Planning to get this for entertainment purposes and light office work
Tab S8 is a better overall device when it comes to specs.
Processor is a marginal upgrade from S6 Lite 2022/S7 FE, but it has much more RAM, storage and very water-proof. S8 is much, much better.
Please, review the best pens for android tablets
Please review the clarity pro touch 27 surface studio competitor
Ok, I just ordered the Samsung s6. I have an old Samsung tab ( A - with s pen I believe) and I am very happy with the product. Unfortunately it is so old it doesn't support infinite painter anymore, so I'm upgrading to that one.
Update: I've been using it for a couple of months and I couldn't be happier! It works wonderfully and it's very affordable
Nice timing
I have a iPad mini 6 and I was looking for a video that could give me an idea of a android tablet that might be worth me switching to but it seems like from this video the only thing this video is demonstrating is that there are android tablets that you can draw on.
Brad -- I just discovered your channel and it's been helpful in my search for a new art tablet. I'm comparing the Galaxy S8 to the Galaxy S9 FE. It sounds like you think getting the S8 is a better idea, even though it's last year's model?
Hi there, I'm not brad but I feel like I can help! even though the S8 was from last year, it was the flagship model, meaning it was the best tablet Samsung released that year. The s9 FE, while newer, is not designed as a flagship model. It intentionally cuts down features to become more affordable. If you are able to find them for a similar price, the S8 and it's variants are more powerful than the s9 FE. I personally have gone with the s9 FE+ because I got it on a really good deal, and the market for the S8 in my country isn't very good, probably because there isn't much of a stock left over. If that's not the case where you live, the S8 is a solid choice
Pls review the kamvas slate 10 abuse I’m think of buying that or another one
Are you going to review the new xp pen magic drawing pad which comes out this month? 🥺🙏 it's mobile studio 😮
Love these videos. Are there any websites or discords that track tablet prices you recommend? Like you I live in the stats so while i would buy a Xiomi, we all know we cant. :(
Hey Brad. Have you tried Huion’s New android tablet with pen? Eager to see your review.
He has and unfortunately it is hot garbage. he very much disliked it too
Just today, I bought a s7 fe, absolutely loving it , got it for like 420 dollars
Samsung has the s9FE now on sale for $399.... thinking about buying that
@@DaBrown101 so the thing is I'm an artist and more screen is what matters to me s7 fe have a bigger screen 13 inches, s9 fe might be better spec wise but the bigger screen is really my concern. Also not on sale in my region.
@@the_freeman866 I just got the tab S8 on sale for $500 and for me it was the better processor and I wanna learn to draw on it too!
Can the S-pen that comes with S6 Lite also be used without charging?
The S9 FE is now at $349...It has managed everything I've thrown at it quite well. Even with "only" 6GB RAM. If you can afford the bump to 8GB/256 I'd go for that for a bit more future proof. But either SKU is pretty phenomenal for the price. I've thought of maybe bumping up to the S9, but it's more than double the price, I just can't do it and I'm a dork for these things. There's also the option of a used/refurb tab S8...
Hey I'm looking for a budget friendly tablet for drawing and watching netflix/RUclips
Would you recommend samsung s6lite or lenovo p11 plus or lenovo m10 gen 3?
s6 lite for sure
I got s9 fe because why not right? Its great tablet anyway, will get updates, runs 90% of stuff youd want it to run and its good way to get into art too
I wish you had reviewed the Lenovo P12.
I bought the S6 lite for 200 bucks and I don't regret it for one bit.
The question is what you want to use a tablet for. Reading, note taking, drawing or Streaming and Gaming. The Android tablet makers want everything in one tablet. Hence the aspect ratio of 16:10 or 16:9. While Apple uses 3:2. The only Android tablet that also uses this ratio is 12" is the TCL NxtPaper pro. For $450. Unfortunately, it is not available in Europe. So not that unnatureally look.
I am looking for a tablet for working , watching videos mainly, dont really do drawing on it. What kind of tablet do you recommend? I think paying for a high price like S9+ is a bit too much for just the purpose I need right? If yes, what would you recommend?

Go with the Xiaomi Pad 6. Insane value if you don't wanna draw on it. If drawing wasn't a priority for me, it would have been my pick for sure

My advice for anyone thinking about trying digital art for the first time, is to not worry about the high end tablets. Just get a less expensive tablet that you can still use happily if the digital art thing doesn’t go well. Something that you can still use to read/study/watch stuff on
In my case, digital art worked out well so i decided to do more professional work with it. And at THAT POINT I purchased a high end tablet.
Now, if the timing were different and 2023/2024 was the year i wanted to try digital art for the first time….. i would go with a Samsung tablet (this is coming from someone using an M1 iPad Pro rn)
This.
I bought a wacom tablet at 10dolars for pc and decided if I sell stuff I gonna get the money return and with that to buy another thing. (that wacom is now 50usd almost anywhere).
1 year of study, yet to sell stuff... maybe this year.
I need a tablet for note taking and reading, I wanted to buy the iPad pro 2022 12.9, aslo search for the Samsung S9 Plus but I don't like it's spape, it's like a long notebook but I prefer A4 size notebook 😊 and also concerned about its life span and future updates because I want to use my tab atleast for 5 years
Please review the Blackview tab 16 please
There is the new Samsung Tab A series too
Facebook says the Galaxy browser is incompatible and limits me to some features. It won't allow me to comment on posts. I downloaded FireFox, but it won't adjust to the screens in landscape mode. So i still can't function on FB. Is there a browser download to replace the featureless one on the Galaxy tab? Why doesn't Samsung just fix the browser? It doesn't even have tabs! Now my tablet is using up bat power twice as fast as when it was new. Very annoying. I won't buy another Galaxy.
what about huawei matepad pro 13.2 !?
Plan on getting the s9fe+ for drawing does anyone think it’s worth it I’ve been dreading about it for a while now any thoughts or recommendations are appreciated ❤
I just ordered the s9 FE+, also mainly for drawing. Haven't received it yet, but I'll say this: it heavily depends on your country. The reality of prices where I live are completely different than what's in this video. the s9 FE was a much better deal comparatively. In your case, compare it's price to the S8+/ultra. If the price is similar, get the s8. where I live the S8 is way harder to find and way more expensive, which is why I picked the s9 fe
Qualcomm has a new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor coming into production that has equivalent speed to the Apple M series, and Samsung will be using it in tablets. This means huge performance bumps such that video editing in 4K will become easy. Probably a great moment to hold off on buying a high-end S9 for a few months if you can wait
