    Android developer here 😊 one of the most common reasons tablet versions of apps looks like a hot mess is a two-fold problem. Previously it was kind of a pain in the butt for android to make good tablet layouts, the tooling for developers was just subpar when compared to iOS and their constraint system. With jetpack compose in android, this is actually much less of an issue. Google is also pushing developers more to support aspect agnostic layouts because there is a rise in foldable devices, and they suffer when apps are poorly designed for a flexible experience.
    The second half of the problem is lack of buy in from leadership on supporting android devices. The absolute best thing you can do to get a better tablet experience is complain and send feedback on these apps to those companies so they know people actually care about it.

      I think Google sees foldables as the next big thing similar to phablets becoming the majority. Saw in Mkbhd video that Google is going to give more visibility to Tablet optimised apps in Play store. THAT'S HUGE. Not to mention Android L, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tab, Samsung's work in tablet space. I believe big screen Android is getting even more better in very near future

    I am really happy that the Samsung Tabs and Android have closed the gap quite a bit with Apple. I'm in the android ecosystem and really didn't want to get an iPad, but I thought it was my only option. I am fully biased for Windows, Samsung and Android, however for artistic purpose the Apple pro is fully tailored for this: More nits (brighter outdoor) it has true color P3 IPS with 264 ppi at 120hz Retina, pushed with double the performance power in that m2 chip, that just blows Samsung out of the water for once, it has one of the most fluid, smooth and dedicated drawing apps Procreate (that can handle big projects) so no 3rd party software and hardware is needed.. Battery inside the pencil makes sure the pen has way less parallax than the Samsung pen (compared in many videos) and when it comes to drawing both screen and pen integration, is of key importance to have the best drawing feeling, the Apple pen itself has better weight, balance and control than the s-pen, overall the Apple is more compact which is another big thing when it comes to portability, instead of lurking some kind of flat screen along with you in your bus ride home and needing to bring your glove at all times.. Apple has better anti glare coating and is fingerprint resistant and to top it off it comes with a whopping couple hours better battery life, that also goes hand in hand with the portability you want to expect from a tablet drawing device.. I am on the fence and hate to say that Samsung is tailored more towards the everyday users and generic features tablets have to offer, but for artists I can see very clearly that Apple is designed to focus that market.. I will always be biased for Windows computers and Samsung smartphones, but I would actually consider the Ipad pro to be the best overall digital standalone drawing tool..

    I think it is important to note, which you kind of did by mentioning dex, is that the app scaling problem is basically fixable by using dex and/or multitasking modes which will scale the app down to a more mobile-sized window. It isn't perfect, and hopefully there will be better full screen support for larger screened devices soon but in the meanwhile I feel like that's a pretty good fix for the time being.

    Just sold my iPad pro12.1 and iPad mini, They were the latest, and I am getting a Galaxy Tab S9+, keeping my iPhone 13 mini but getting a new Z Flip, switching Apple watch for Galaxy Watch 6. All this change started with the iPads, everyone's says "iPad apps are better" and yes, but only if you are a video or photo editor, basically a content creator, I`m not, I`,m a consultant I travel, receive documents, and sometimes edit them on the go with a tablet, Ipad displays are OK nothing special but most of my coworkers made the switch, Android got excellent handling apps, displays are waaaay better, look better, and they are overall more funn to use, and I can do the same, watching movies on the go, use as a second display, read and create documents, and the pen is waaaays better than apple pencil.
    So, good job Samsung!

    For the people assuming apple has a wall around apps are funny. As a dev friend has told me “it is just easier to develop apps for apple products because it is only apples products where as android has way too many products” and to put that at into perspective over 600 android phones were launched last year that doesn’t include tablets or watches. That’s only phones. All running a different version of android. He has told me that is the problem with android. It is not that they don’t want to. It is that it is extremely hard and expensive when apple products are easy to dev for. There is no wall around apps unlike for products of apples.

    For full 2 years I tried to love or somewhat enjoy the iPad Pro ( for sketching amd sculpting) but the IPAD OS just kept upsetting me on a daily basis with it's restrictive ways and insanely contrived file management. It was a constant joyless pain to use. Finally ater realising that Procreate is anyway not my preferred painting app and Nomad Sculpt runs great on Android too, I ditched it for the Samsung S8 Ultra and now S9 ultra. Suddenly using a Tablet is so much pure joy and fun and constantly inviting to get creative work done on it. Extra Bonus: I can use the same pens I use for drawing on the tablet to draw also on my Samsung phone as well as on my laptop screen that happens to use the same wacom emr tech. Talk about fluid cross hardware platform!

      It's just a shame Samsung clearly wants to become more restrictive "à la Apple", best example being them locking the Windows Samsung Notes app behind owning an overpriced Galaxy Book PC, when the app has been running perfectly on non-Galaxy Windows devices for literally years ! Now the app does't load anymore if you don't have a Galaxy Book.
      Compatibility has always been my main reason for using Samsung devices, but Apple's selfish-moneygrabby-toxic influence can be felt freaking everywhere for the same reason humanity will never have a cure for Cancer: it is not profitable so advancing humanity becomes secondary, if important at all.

Krita has no limit and should be able to go as far as the integer value allows it to do which is about 2,147,483,648 layers. To be honest on both of these software you will struggle with both iPads and galaxy tabs hardware before you reach the software limits

    Although the hardware performance is good, there are too few programs suitable for it. Still, the limitations of programs that can be used in the Android operating system are clear. This is why many artists and engineers still use more Apple products.

    SPen drawing on the Tab S tablets or Galaxy phone is way way nicer than on a naked ipad with the Apple Pencil. I can use the Spen without any screen protector but the ipad drawing experience is not great without a matt paperlike screen protector!
    Also you don't need to pair the Spen to draw and I can I multiple Spen on different devices unlike the pain and need to pair Pencils for iPads.

    I have this weird bug with iPad and Apple Pencil, where the distance from which it starts drawing varies ALL-THE-FREAKING-TIME, going from around 0.1mm to 1.5mm, apparently is dependant, but not limited to, if you have a case that squeezes the iPad a tiny bit too much and by extention its digitizer and seems to happen more on M2 iPads because of the hover funciton.
    However, it consistently starts drawing BEFORE the Apple Pencil touches the screen, with or without a case, which has never happened on any Samsung tablet I've owned (currently have both iPad and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra). Drawing is not too bad, but for someone that takes a lot of notes like me, this problem is an absolute nightmare and very frustrating when you expect the pencil to stop writing a word or a letter, but the streak keeps going as if you were still touching the screen.
    I haven't brought the iPad and Pencil back to the store because I feel like I'm definitely going to be ignored. If anyone has faced this and found a solution, please share :)
    Also I couldn't disagree more with Brad, S Pen feels better than Apple Pencil any day, the thinner tip is an absolute must, I can't fathom someone preferring the thicker tip...

    • @Cyndakip
      @Cyndakip 4 месяца назад

      The problem you're describing with the Apple Pencil has happened to me too (M2 iPad Pro), but only when using third party tips. It's never happened when using Apple's own pencil tips. If, as you say, the case is 'squeezing' the iPad maybe try one of those magnetic folio like cases that don't have any side protection?

    • @Arc.M
      @Arc.M 4 месяца назад

      @@Cyndakip I do have both sorts of cases and mainly use the not-very-protecting magnetic folio thing now, and unfortunately it still happens, as well as with original pen tip, though the distance seems to be mitigated a bit. Since then I also heard "grounding" the iPad, touching some grounded metal to discharge any static, can help too. In the end I do all those things when I take notes on the iPad, and it feels like it helps even though it does still write before touching the screen, surely is weird and not something I ever experienced on Galaxy digitizers

    Very fair review on both tablets. I have been using the iPad for years now and recently purchased the Tab S9. Samsung has done brilliantly with this tablet and, although their previous models were alright, none really competed with the iPad like this one.
    As for the S-Pen, bear in mind that Samsung is soon going to release a Creatives S-Pen which is about the length of the Apple Pencil and also heavier. The S-Pen is more suited for writing notes since it's lighter but the Creatives S-Pen will be what most of us artists prefer for digital drawing. Keen to seen how that would feel.
    Thank you for this video.

    I think Samsung has finally caught Apple here honestly. I mean the screen is unmatched OLED just takes the cake literally breath taking at times. Was able to drop in an extra 1TB high speed SD card that only cost me $50 bucks in addition to the 512 it came with. Can always just buy another SD card if I ever actually use all the space or just need more. It's just unheard of with how much Apple charges for more storage. The S pen included and it's good plus the ability to use the Wacom Pen as well. Samsung Dex is really not talked about enough either it's the Ipad pros missing link honestly. You pay all this money and have a Tablet that is really capable of outperforming some decently equipped laptops even and yet your stuck to a extremely limited tablet style experience and they make no effort to change it because it would encroach upon their laptop business. It almost stops serving a purpose to have the much power in a tablet and not be able to properly use it.
    The only real remaining downside is yeah software is still not as good usually but at least these days you have options. It's not the desert it used to be where you kinda had no choice. Still a lot of work to be done there but it's enough where I no longer feel like I need to be trapped in the Apple ecosystem.

    What Wacom drawing tablets will work with the Tab S9? for ergonomic reasons, I use a Wacom Intuos Pro with my desktop (instead of a Cintiq), and I would like to do the same with the Tab S9.

The display, the size, a certain level of freedom for customization. I seen one of your reviews where you slammed a Wacom device for not including the drawing pen in the box. You said that if you purchase one, you can't draw with what you have in the box. Now, you say that you give the edge to apple pencil. The apple pencil is an extra charge and if I buy an iPad, I can't draw with what I have in the box unless I use my finger. I love my ipad and procreate but, let's give Sammy its flowers.

    • @Cyndakip
      @Cyndakip 4 месяца назад +3

      That's because an iPad without a stylus isn't useless; there's tons you can do as it's a standalone device that is optimised for touch. Wacom not including a stylus should rightfully be slammed, because any Wacom tablet without a pen is completely useless. They're specifically for art. It's great that Samsung includes the pens in the box, but the idea that Apple can be compared to Wacom in that respect is a little disingenuous. Neither Samsung nor Apple's tablets cater specifically to artists (unlike Wacom). Microsoft doesn't include the pen with their surface laptops either. Doesn't make them useless.
