    about the second screen lag: You have to turn off WIFI on the tablet, then turn on Second Screen. Both on will cause substantial latency. For some reason, Samsung doesn't let this clear for the final user.

      As far as Photoshop/Photo Editing goes, one of the GREATEST features of my Tab S8 Ultra that no one talks about is the 'Second Screen' feature. SuperDisplay a $10 app works really great. The Tab S8 Ultra has basically replaced my Wacom Cintiq as my main Photoshop editing device. It's higher resolution, wireless, lighter, portable, and the S-Pen might be even better... Samsung's built-in 'Second Screen' works OK, but it used to work much better than it does now, I don't know what happened, but hopefully they will update it to work as good as SuperDisplay does. Plus, your files stay resident on your workstation and you don't have to copy files back and forth.
      I find that SuperDisplay works exactly the same wired or over WiFi. If there's a difference, I don't see any. As I mentioned, it's SO much better than Samsung's Second Screen. It's pretty crazy to me that Samsung definitely knows how much of a superior product SuperDisplay is and they could easily license the technology (like they do Wacom's EMR) or even purchase the company without even batting an eye, instead they ship a vastly inferior piece of software...

    The S-Pen is fantastic and FREE in the box. You don't need to add a paper-like screen protector ($40) in addition to the $130 you'll pay extra for the Apple Pencil...
    I'm a 30+ year Professional Graphic Artist. When some say that there aren't Professional Visual Arts apps on android it's just really incorrect, because I use them everyday. Autodesk Sketchbook, Infinite Painter, Concepts, Krita are just a few of the apps available on the Google Play store... There are many more... Are there a few apps available on iPad that aren't on the Play store? Yes, of course, but a good carpenter never blames his tools, and with expertise and talent you can do anything and everything on android apps that you can do on iOS apps - NO DOUBT.
    If you're already entrenched in the Apple 'eco-system'... Then pay the extra $500 to $1500...
    Unfortunately, Samsung's trade-in's aren't great this year...
    Two years ago I got the 8GB RAM/256GB SSD Tab S7 Plus in Mystic Navy it was $356 from Samsung with a Tab S4 Trade-In I got off ebay for $175, they gave me $400 trade-in credit, so my total cost from Samsung for the Tab S7 Plus was $531.
    I had zero intention of upgrading. Samsung then offered me more than I paid for the S7+ in trade, for a 16GB/512GB Ultra. They also gave me $200 credit towards accesories. It was kinda of a no-brainer, plus the 4-year OS updates and 5-years of security updates for $517.59.
    I absolutely love the Ultra, and have no intention of upgrading, especially since Samsung will only give me $650 for the trade-in of my Ultra and the total cost will be $750 for the 16GB/1TB version...
    Maybe next time, Sammy...

      I’m glad you found a use for it but there is no comparison and the iPad Pro is light years ahead of the Samsung and I don’t see any viable reason why anybody would choose the Samsung over an iPad Pro unless they needed some super specific niche use use case…
      You have to remember at the end of the day if it’s Samsung or Apple, you’re still running, android and android, is absolute disgrace when it comes to mobile anything.
      I was the most hard-core Samsung fan you’ll ever meet literally upgraded every single year since the s1 both with the note and the regular, owned the s7+ tablet and currently fold 4, let me just tell you when Apple comes out with a folding phone. I am switching 100% over to Apple Samsung, and every other android device is a complete mockery and a joke of what mobile platform can be and that was achieved only by Apple.
      It’s literally impossible for android to catch up to Apple, you’re having developers develop apps which are the backbone of mobile platform and they have to develop these apps for thousands of android devices, compared to them, only having to develop for a handful of Apple devices.
      I know it sounds cliché to say that android is buggy and glitchy but android is the definition of buggy and glitchy. When we compare it to Apple, Apple is like a well lubricated perfectly functioning machine, android is like a nonstop decade long beta test that I am tired of participating in.

      @ZxAMobile You made some good points and your own opinions on the subject; simply remember that not everyone loves or likes Apple in the same way you do. As of today, technology for digital artists has evolved to a point in which we all can enjoy a great experience on any device of our choice. Sorry to hear you've had a bad experience with the Tabs before; however, in my case, there are only positive experiences with Samsung. That; and of course Krita, the software I use the most, is available on its full version on Android. All in all, it seems to me that having freedom of choice is the best part of our current era of digital arts. Enjoy your iPad and iOS, keep the good work; we people on the Samsung camp will do the same. Stay well.

      @@ZxAMobileI have used both Samsung tablets and iPads, and ipads are definitely not as good as what your saying it is. The pressure feel is a lot better on Samsung since it uses Wacom technology. You can buy different wacom pens for the Samsung if you want a better pen. ipad drawing apps are as buggy as with android apps, procreate is not a good drawing app, procreate is limited in a lot of different ways. It doesn't have features most other drawing software has. The ipad has a bad file system, its so difficult to move files to other devices. iPads have decent hardware, but is let down hard with the software it has. Apple isnt "miles ahead" of Samsung, its just a different usecase.
      If you want to only draw? Go for ipads.
      If you want to do everything else? Like actually get work done? Get a Samsung.

It is in fact, very disrespectful to even compare them as if they are competing with each other.
      Bottom line is no matter how fancy and pretty any Samsung tablet looks, it’s still running android, which means it will never ever ever ever ever hold a candle to iPadOS.
      My S7 plus tablet was the most awful horrible device I have ever used and an absolute disrespect to compare it to my PERFECT iPad Pro. My fold 4 ALSO sucks MASSIVELY vs my iPad. Android is HORRIBLE, stop the delusional bs fantasies.
      There is literally nothing in a Samsung tablet that I know of, that the iPad Pro doesn’t dominate Android tablets in, EVEN the screen quality is higher on the iPad Pro. There’s no point in having a higher quality screen if all the apps look horrible on it, and even RUclips videos are not as optimized and look lower resolution… it’s like having a Bugatti with a 20 mph speed limiter what’s the point of it? I’d rather drive a Toyota with no limiter.
      Also, the 4:3 is way better aspect ratio, and because android is horrible the developers don’t give a crap about android and everything runs slow, choppy, annoying, crashing buggy, nonsense. Try playing ANY top triple A mobile game, android vs iPad, android is a JOKE. honestly playing games on my fold 4, or my S7 plus tablet before I sold that piece of garbage was literally impossible.
      On my folder for RUclips, can’t even run in the background if I close my screen, even though I have RUclips premium, the RUclips app constantly crashes the games are not optimized. I went to BestBuy, and tried all three S8 sizes, and for me personally, I did not like the Ultra size. I felt like it really changed the dynamic from a cozy hand held / single hand / portable device on the S9 / S9+, to a tabletop / desk / laptop / two handed device on the S9 Ultra. I spent 2 hours drawing on all three sizes. For me the S9+ was just right. I was large enough, yet felt portable, the keyboard though a couple inches more compact still felt right. It was the best of both worlds in terms of size and portability. (Though I would not recomment the smallest size, because UI feels suffocating / cramped) I think this size preference is very subjective, so I advice people to go try the sizes. There's been too many videos only talking about / praising the Ultra and I too was sold on the idea that nothing topped the Ultra... until I tried the size and realized it felt too large for me (especially since I'm not looking to replace my PC / workstation). Most importantly, keep in mind, despite how the "ULTRA" name sounds, the S9+ has the exact same CPU, same GPU, same AMOLED2 screen / refresh / ppi, and same 12GB ram as the base model. So you're loosing no tech at all besides size, while gaining portability, a cheaper device, and cheaper keyboard.

    I've had the S8 Ultra since it came out, and it's a fantastic device. I love the size for content viewing, the screen and speakers are excellent. The webcam and mic are also terrific (much better than most laptops). I got a Staedtler Noris pen as the S-Pen is too small and I keep pushing the buttons on the side. The Noris is a lot of fun to draw with. The Sketchbook app works like a dream on the Ultra. I did get the 2-piece cover (back with a stand and pen storage, keyboard/trackpad). The stand is fine though the edge of the kickstand is sharp vinyl and uncomfortable on your legs, especially in shorts. The keyboard/trackpad are atrocious - Samsung should be ashamed of what they were charging for it - it's junk and I never use it.

    Pretty much the only thing that keeps me away from Samsung Android tablets are the apps. Consistently I've found Samsung tablets have the best-feeling drawing experience of any tablet, even more so than iPad and Apple Pencil, but there's just nothing on Android that works as well as Procreate. Some apps come close but I've yet to find any that really work well. Although, it has been a while since I last used a Samsung (I had an S7+ that I gave to my son) and I do wonder how MediBang and Sketchbook perform on up-to-date devices.
    There's also their refusal to make their devices closer to a 4:3 ratio like iPad, but when the tablet gets large enough (like that 14-incher, geez), that becomes less of a factor.

    • @theinktician

    Tip, if you want a thicker pen. Get a replacement pen for the 1st gen Wacom One pen display. That thing is also EMR based and works flawlessly.
    As for Android, That whole stretched-out things is, what I'm talking about, when I say, that Android is not suited for big screens.
    Yes, some apps will know how to handle it, but most don't care. No amount of effort on Samsungs side can fix that.
    It will always feel like you are using a bunch of phone apps on a way to big screen.
    The worst offenders are the browsers IMO. They still tell every Website, that the device is an "Android" one,
    Therefore even RUclipss Website still leads you to their "mobile" view.
    (And don't tell me, "Then use the App". RUclipss App is garbage and you know it)
    And it is not like the option to show the desktop-Version of pages does not exist. Chrome has a "Request Desktop Version" Button. But you have to do it for every freaking page, over and over again.

    You always seem to forget that 90% of the tech "in" the pen is actually behind the screen. An EMR-based pen is really just some coils of wire. The sensor behind the screen emits some electromagnetic fields (kinda like a metal detector) that interact with those coils in such a way that the sensor can detect the position and pressure of the pen.
    This is why EMR pens don't need a battery. All the "power" comes from the sensor behind the screen. But it's also why EMR pens often only have pressure, but no tilt or rotation. There is only so much you can do with EM fields and coils.

    • @tams805
      @tams805 Год назад +3

      EMR pens have had tilt and rotation for years. And most of it has just been Wacom artificially segmenting the technology.
      Even the Note 4/Edge got tilt in the end.

    • @Bronyboiiiii
      @Bronyboiiiii Год назад

    may sound weird to say: but i feel like they've become a bit overpriced. Yes, they're the best android tablets, but the iPad Air is $200 less. Usually the Samsung tablets are a better deal since they come with a pen - but now it costs less to get the Air and buy the pen. You have to bank on the Ultra or + since the smallest one cost the same as the iPad Pro

    • @DotakuTube
      @DotakuTube Год назад +6

      To be fair, if your willing to wait a bit, they will likely come down on price pretty fast.
      Samsung also tends to have crazy deals pretty frequently where you can find them for much less. Though I agree the launch starting prices are getting a bit steep

    • @Tridaak
      @Tridaak Год назад

      Yes, I do agree that the base regular price is normally overpriced. However, unlike Apple, Samsung tends to have sales a lot more often and have much steeper sales. Specially during times like Black Friday. I for example was able to buy my Tab S7 FE for about half the price, the same year it was released.
      I feel like this is Samsung's price strategy. To put the base cost as really high to seem like a super high-end premium tablet that's normally more expensive than even Apple's offerings. So that when there's a sale, people can feel good about being able to buy such an expensive tablet at a good price. I'm not saying that Samsung products are worse than Apple's, rather that the Samsung "tax" and Samsung "value" aren't as in line with Apples' "tax" and "value".

    Good review 👍
    The S9 Ultra is definitely a powerhouse BUT i'd have expected a much higher level of its display brightness!
    Even on my Galaxy Tab S7+ the maximum brightness seems to be higher!

      Spec sheet says s7+ peak brightness is around 500 nits and s9 ultra is over 950 nits

    This looks lovely - but I can't update any time soon (I'm poor lol) - but I will say, I picked up a 65Watt power adapter off Am*z*n for $25 (Canadian) - comes with 2 usb-c inputs and one usb-A. It's my favourite thing.

    hey brad, could you review the new huwawei mate pad 11 or the upcoming one matepad 11.5? I heard the the price is almost the same with xiaomi pad 6 and has a good value. But I kindly need to know your thought in the professional creative point of view

    is this tablet worth the upgrade from a m1 ipad 11? I usually use my ipad for reading, netflix, youtube, and some light gaming.

    While nice, the pwm flickering (causes eye strain) and screen burn in isn't worth having amoled imo.
    All amoled (oled) screens have this problem, even ipads. OLED is not good for any software users because gui burns in.
    Watching movies and web browsing sure, not art, not for me anyway. Theirs a reason they tell gamers with oled screens to lower hud opacity.

    Can you please make a comparison between S Pen's versions, especially with the Tab S8/S9 official S Pen and S Pen Pro?
