Thank you for this video! Been looking for a professional artist review on the s9 instead of the bigger ones 😊 Am pretty much set in getting a tab s9 to get back to drawing since it fits my budget more 😅 (20% student discount here and it comes with the pen) so now I know what to expect.
Also does the tablet heat up a lot when you're drawing & doing the 3D sculpting?
The tablet may heat up a bit. Don't worry too much which tablet to use. What's important is drawing and practicing daily. I started with a Wacom Intuos so today's generation is lucky to have portable tablets like the S9 for drawing directly on the screen.
Thank You for showing Nomad Sculpt, nice review!
Most welcome. It’s such a cool app I had to show it.
I'm still using the tab s7, works fine ad and still going strong, I do all my digital art on it.
Nice, what apps are you using?
Can you use nomad sculpt and krita on it?
I use krita on my tab s7. Not sure about sculpt. @YurushiiGaming
Me too im using the S7 tab, works still nicely after almost 3 years 😊😮
You're the first reviewer to mention pressure levels and how it impacts brush workflow. Since I'm used to Huion 22 plus on my pc with 8k pressure levels I'm afraid I'll be annoyed by the S pen 4k. Would really like you to try XP Pen magic drawing pad (16k pressure levels) since your brush workflow is the most similar to mine I could find for reviewers.
Thank you so much for watching. Hopefully I can make a review of it soon!
To be honest i really want to get this for my birthday in may since it comes with the pen i want to get it and with a glove it will be my first digital drawing device 🎉
best of luck and have fun drawing
Im wanting to get a new tablet, from my old old galaxy tab 4, but it's a want not a need, it's hard to know what to do as i don't want to spend much, but the tab s6 is a bit small.
I do have a screenless drawing tablet for my PC but this would nice too, to take it out and about, use for other things too.
Have you tried the android version of procreate HiPaint it used to be by Huion but i guess its kinda not now
Yes I’ve tried HiPaint and still I prefer Clip Studio or Procreate for my own professional work.
Awesome detailed review
Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
good revieww, love it
Thank you so much! 😊
What color mode for the display is the best for drawing, vivid or natural? I find the natural one being very dull and even with a sort of warm tint to it, so I'd appreciate your opinion on this!
I go for Natural mode over Vivid because Vivid overdoes the colors. Choosing Natural is better in terms of color accuracy in terms of file export. If I export an artwork image using Vivid mode, the image file will look dull compared to the tablet screen's vivid mode especially if it gets printed or viewed on another device.

What do you think of the S9’s art performance and stylus?
Wacom stylus (spen) is so badass ! So much better than any apple stylus
@@Dumbell-mx1fy Would love to hear your thoughts on what you liked about the pen 🖊️
One more thing: There are also several alternative pens available that you can use on the S9, like the Staedler pen, for example, or the wacom one pen and more. And if you also have a galaxy pen enabled phone like I have (s23 ultra) , you can use the same pens on the phone as well. It works cross hardware platform .
16:17 is that you?? Nice video btw, very helpful
Thanks! Glad it helped.
Nice I found your video. I guess I am going to get Tab S9. Are you a kabayan?
Hey, great video, the thing is I also got an s9 but I feel that the colors on the screen are much "bluer" than my iPhone, or maybe a bit oversaturated. Have you encountered the same thing or it's just a me problem. Is there any way to color-calibrate my tablet?
It's the same case for me, colors are more saturated. For example, when I use the S9's camera to take reference photos for painting, I usually just adjust the colors on my Mac or iPad later.
You can change the display settings from vivid mode to other modes..and also you can adjust it to warmer colors overall
@@eyeghelemebright6938 Display modes are about how "colors are displayed" on screen. Changing the Display modes is not the same as Color Calibration. Color calibration means colors are matched consistently whether in file export or in colored print outputs, which is important in professional work.
I use Krita for my PC drawing tablet. Can you use Krita and Nomad Sculpt on this tablet?
I did a brief Nomad Sculpt demo near the end of the video. Didn’t try Krita on S9 yet tho.
Krita is on android
If it works on the s6 lite, which is leagues less powerful, it will work on this
So yes
lol the unpacking was hard lol
Indeed the packaging could be designed better.
Hi, you are very good at drawing.
Thank you!
Can you try Samsung NotePaper Screen for Tab S9 tablets
hopefully in the near future! :)
I'm planning on picking up drawing again even if the last time I draw was 2011 and I'm thinking of the S9. I can barely use Apple products, my sister has an ipad pro gen 4 (maybe) and iphone 13 pro max and iphone pro 14 5G(again maybe, dont really know the models, just matching the prices to guess the type). I could never get into iOS. I've been looking at reviews and it seems like S9 is a good product to work (and relearn drawing) with since I can't exactly drag my PC around.
Addition : Nothing, I think, about iOS or MacOS is intuitive. That has been my problem with Apple (that and how overpriced it is despite offering pretty much the same functionality and how closed the ecosystem is).
Great that you’re getting back to drawing again. If you buy the S9, what drawing apps do you plan to use?
@@brushimpactI heard Infinite Painter is good. Honestly at this point it probably won't matter what I pick because I'll be starting from scratch again, it'll be a new experience for almost-40 year old me. Haha
@@hkmrsrg1367 Best of luck to you. The best time is always now.
for me the S8+ is awesome, already better than ipad
Hi thanks for watching. What art app are you using and how’s the digital painting experience?
Whlch app is best for watercolour?
I like the default watercolor brushes in Infinite Painter and Clip Studio. Sometimes it also depends on the “feel” of the brushes.
@@brushimpact thank you so much i will check. You are right and i am beginner so i have to learn control brushes :)
@@ilayda2367 Most welcome! If you're into Procreate, I heard MaxPacks watercolor brushes are also good.
@@brushimpact i started learn clipstudio tysm!
That's great! Take it easy and have fun with it. @@ilayda2367
Do you need a keyboard as well?
If you like using a keyboard go for it but in my case I didn’t need it at that point.
XP PEN Magic Drawing Pad looks like a better option.
It depends what you want, you can use this as a tablet as well, XP Pen tablets can be hit or miss
I can recommend the XP-PEN Artist Pro 16 - I still use it today. Watch the review here: ruclips.net/video/fKQJDkOd3Wk/видео.htmlsi=9t88tMY-WYD3XH1o
Nah, the S9 is better
Do you use paper matte texture tempered glass?
I did not use any paper matte texture. I just drew on the screen as it is.
@@brushimpact thanks im currently using paper texture protector but it just wears down fast
@@alt_key946 Most welcome. Yes, they really wear down especially if you write/draw on it a lot.
Is the screen size enough for drawing?
It does the job, but for a more immersive drawing experience, I suggest going for a larger screen tablet.
@@brushimpact Does that mean it's enough to just work on a commission?
@@zayn7534 it depends on what type of art you like to create. For my professional work, I paint for long hours and the iPad is still the best tablet at this point.
what is the name of this application?
Clip Studio Paint
Awesome review. I agree though that the iPad's interface is much more superior.
It’s interesting to see how much people care about navigation.
@@brushimpact lol. I know right. But thank you for this review though. I appreciate that it's coming from an artist's perspective. I initially wanted to get this tab for journaling and digital art but seeing that the pen sensitivity is not standard across apps like CSP and infinite painter is a bummer :(
The s-pen has tremendous potential and if it gets developed further it could be a game-changer.
@@brushimpactyk on android you gotta swipe up to find your apps rt......
But I like Apple pencil’s firm nib than Samsung’s soft stylus point.
Thanks for watching! Why do you prefer the apple pencil's firm nib?
There's the S-pen creator edition if you want that
@@_StarlightRose_ I’m a trying-hard wannabe artist who can’t seem to get sketches right. For now, any stylus or pen would do. I didn’t know Samsung has pen variants. Apple has no pencil crafted only for artists.
@@brushimpact I’ve been using it for sometime.
Great review but iPad killer is a far stretch lol
Thank you for watching!
Nobody buys these
There is a product for everyone depending on their needs.
You can't even believe this nonsense yourself 😂😂😂 let me guess you're in the Apple cult
I got two, the s8 and s9
