Would love to know what type of office use you have for the S9 Ultra cause I've been contemplating switching to a tablet from my ThinkPad. Just not sure if it will handle all the work
ONLY ISSUE with going mediatek is for us EMULATOR users, they're not optimized for MALI GPUs. that also goes for apps and games. So, you lose performance from worse optimization and wasting processing power to power through tasks.
Why aren't the displays 4K yet ? Sony phones have 4K screens which is an overkill but for a 12+ inch tablet 4K shouldn't be a big ask. Tab S8 ultra should have had a 4K screen.
Samsung should make some marketing for their tablets. I didn't even know this tablet was announced. I saw the thumbnail and I was like "why is he reviewing a year old tablet?"
All the sames compare with S9 series , except the antireflective coating and few grams lighter😅😅Will stick with S9 ultra with a reliable snapdragon cpu😅😅
People are hating Apple for iPad not innovating and also for new iPhone 16 Pro but this is really same tablet as S9 Ultra in every way. I was waiting for this tablet to pair it with my S24 Ultra and 16 Pro Max combo 😅 but there is no reason for me to buy S10 Ultra vs S9 Ultra because they are really exactly same devices.
I ditched my iPad and Pencil and have taken the Galaxy Tab S9. I don't plan on going back to iPads anytime soon. My tab with the S-Pen is fantastic. That said, it'll probably be at least two more years before I think of an upgrade. 😅
I'll preface this by saying that I really like this channel and appreciate Tom's candour and integrity. However in my opinion; this tablet upgrade is a joke. No wonder Samsung seemingly slipped it in under the radar. They've done practically nothing. A screen coating and a Mediatek SoC... which performs little better than the SD Gen 3, and some tweaks. No wonder they increased the vapour chamber, the bloody thing would probably throttle otherwise. That'll be £1100 please. Apple; notorious for reputedly offering negligible upgrades, have at least provided a double-stacked OLED, big performance boosts and a better pencil for their product. Idk what Samsung are playing at, but they can't keep getting away with this. Expecting people to fork out cash for next to no improvements is a slap in the face.
I think when companies make these minimal upgrades, it’s just to get people off older devices, not for people to upgrade from last gen. Like I don’t think Apple care too much about me with an iPhone 15 pro when they released the 16. I think this is for people with Tab S7s or older whose devices are off warranty and are starting to break down. Or people who don’t have a tablet or switching from Apple. I honestly dont see why it’s an issue if my device is awesome as is and the new one doesn’t bring much to the table 🤷♂️ people complain the iPad mini needs a refresh. It’s perfectly fine. I won’t be upgrading when the 7 comes out.

Nice overview. However, the question you asked at the end of the video: "Would you (...) go for one of these over the iPad" is a bit odd in my opinion. I think it's basically down to what ecosystem you're already in. I mean, if you have an iPhone I don't think many people would think twice before buying an iPad, and likewise, if I use an android phone, and ESPECIALLY a Samsung, for me it's rather a no brainer to choose between the two. I know both ecosystems have their pros and cons, but I don't see it very practical to have an android smartphone an an apple iPad unless you really want to use both ecosystems. But that's just my opinion

I'm a Heavy Tab S9 Ultra user (I use it for both work and leisure). This is a mild refresh from the S9 Ultra; it's hard to justify upgrading even from an S8 tablet. For art, you would typically use a screen protector/ paper-like cover, which (for most creatives) would negate the need for this new screen. Whilst I can imagine for heavy content users (movies, RUclips, etc), this would be a nice little improvement, I do not see any worthwhile selling point, especially considering the AI features will also be applied to the Tab S9 Ultra. Maybe one of the next couple of iterations will show significant changes?
I have Tab S9 Ultra and Tab S8 Ultra. Both were trade ins on earlier tablets. For $400 if I trade in my Tab S8 it's worth it since I use it daily for work and play. Just had a 2 hour Zoom with my financial advisor using the nice big screen to see all this stock charts. Great speakers and microphone. No brainer. I also have Fold 6 (traded in Fold 3) and Buds 3 Pros (traded in Pro 2). Still have my Galaxy Watch 4 classic though 😅
One can find a ton of hardware related videos of Samsung Tablets on RUclips. But just no videos on the Apps on Android Tablets. The Exynos chip will definitely push many potential customers away. Because remember, raw power alone will never be better than proper optimisation and developer support. Without snapdragon chip inside, I'll say Samsung really missed here.
For just everyday use inc media consumption would you just go for a one plus pad over the standard S10 tablet if you wanted to stick with an android tablet as it would be half the price?
Whilst Apple releases the iPad Pro with the M4 well before it comes in the Macs, Samsung releases a year-old chip that will be superseded by the SD8G4 in a few weeks! I know why they did it, as the Dimensity chips are nearly as cheap as Exynos as they near the end of their cycle. Sadly, Exynos would not be up to the job, and Samsung would not want to upset its bigger markets, such as the US. They can use the E2400 in their mid-range devices like the S24FE. I question the usefulness of an anti-glare display since I always use a tempered glass screen protector, which negates the feature. Additionally, indoors, I would favour the Tandem OLED for its double brightness and Dolby HDR. However, it seems Samsung is cutting costs by omitting these two excellent features. Otherwise, for Samsung fans, a small update, and Tab S8 Ultra users probably do not need to upgrade, so they need to hope they can scrounge some buyers from elsewhere. And at this price, that may be a tough assignment.
Exactly. I currently own a tab s9 ultra and this is the most minor, stupid upgrade ever. For that price Samsung should have waited 2 more months and use snapdragon 8 gen4 + better screen.
Another thing that is bad for Tab S10 lineup is the lack of the much smaller, more affordable based Tab S10. Which to me is a stupid move. But maybe Samsung is secretly planning to release the base Tab S10 as the Tab S10 FE at some point early next year. Who knows?
@@Isaac-gh5ku yes it is a strange one and I only assume that it either doesn’t sell well or they are changing their lineup strategy to effectively copy the iPad Air by having a model with a older chip at a lower price. So similar to your theory.
The specs i am interested in are relating to battery life , longevity and replacement cost . I have paid a lot for tech in recent years but none have replaceable batteries , except my video/stills cameras. If a tablet lasts 3 years what are the costs to replace the battery . I do not want to write off tech items , for scrap , after a short time.
I got the S9 in January, didn't know there was another already available (still happy with mine, no upgrade needed). Will never get an Ipad or Apple device though😅.
Thinking about changing my ipad air 4 (2020) with the S10 plus. The antireflexive screen is a gamechanger on any device and the 16:10 ratio is so much better for watching content than the ipad 4:3 but the price is pretty high.. maybe i ll wait a bit for the hype to go down 😬
Why does every new tech product always get compared to Apple? A Samsung phone becomes the 'Android iPhone.' A laptop is called the 'MacBook killer.' Tablets are labeled as 'iPad killers.' Why does every product need to be framed around Apple? But when Apple releases something, no one says 'Galaxy killer' or anything like that. Seriously, why??
it's obvious Majid Jan! Apple is recognized by people all over the world as a company that produces the most premium and highest quality products. Therefore, Apple products are always the benchmark for comparison, and everyone is trying to see how much the products of other companies can be like Apple
It looks great, and the big screen would get my money . The only thing it’s branded Samsung, I’ve gone a bit off Samsung in recent years. Still , I’ll look forward to the full review , it will be interesting to see if there are any downsides to not using the snapdragon.
Do not even consider this, go for the S9 ultra. Dimensity chips aren't even close to snapdragon for long term gaming or multimedia. They last long for battery because the chip throttles its performance.
Are you sure? I have Xiaomi 13T pro with Dimensity 9200+ chipset for a year , and it is as fast as the first day i bought it and the battery last the whole day i have been playing Cod warzone, emulators, Fortnite , and pubg intensively nothing went wrong with them
Performance wise absolutely but power efficiency, boi 8G4 seems like it will eat up a lot of power in a short time and I even heard that 8G5 are gonna max clock at 5GHz
Doubt that it will be “far more better”. Also mtk 9400 is also coming, that is the 8G4 competitor. I thought we all know why Samsung is using last year chip instead of waiting for latest and greatest, it’s to reduce the cost of the tablet.
@Joeeye123 not really, but when they sell you something for £1200-£1300 and next year they offer you £300 for it, shows how they value said product. That means if you hold on and not buy it now, In a few months it will be down to £600 with a trade in.

You're right. The Ultra is definitely more productivity driven than the iPad. I'm an iPhone user with an S9 Ultra as my daily driver for Office, research, and conference calls. It's 90% there when it comes a laptop.
I wish the iPad had Dex!
You think it's worth the upgrade from the S9 Ultra?
Nope
Nah. For tablets, I'd recommend 2-3 years because that's how long it takes for major upgrades
Only worth an upgrade if you are a power user and need the extra performance.

Great review. What are the cameras
I ditched my iPad and Pencil and have taken the Galaxy Tab S9. I don't plan on going back to iPads anytime soon. My tab with the S-Pen is fantastic. That said, it'll probably be at least two more years before I think of an upgrade. 😅
Great vid as always.
Facts

Same, I don't see any reason to upgrade from the already excellent S9 Ultra. Only minor differences so I'll be sitting this one out.
Apps I mean not native apps, but third-party apps like Facebook, Instagram, Outlook, Google Apps, everyday News/ Weather Apps, etc. This question comes from the various articles which seem to indicate that Apps on Samsung Tablets/ Android Tabs are nothing but stretched versions of Mobile Apps.
@@vbasu5 apps is still a thing? 99% of my screen time is spent on the same 10 apps that were optimized for Android like 9 years ago. Not a gamer but the few racing sim type games I've enjoyed worked fine. For the spec sheet and screen real estate you're not going to get better for the money than a Samsung Galaxy Ultra. Especially on trade in. I have preordered every Ultra tablet so far and received trade in credits That Apple would never in a million years offer. In fact Samsung offered me more to trade in my old iPad Pro than Apple offered by double. And for the second time in a row I'm having the same issue with the iPad Pro screen while still in warranty. These random white spots whenever the screen een is showing a dark color.
I’m definitely switching to Samsung in 2 years after I’m done with school..I don’t feel like switching over all my class work honestly and I worked my ass off for my iPad Pro and iPhone15pm..So once the a fold 8 or s26/27 ultra come out I’m gonna make the switch quick ashell. I miss Samsung badly!!

Another cheeky and great review
Cool story bro
@andyH_England I get it Samsung wants to save money and bring it now rather than next year 8gen4
Who knows?

@antraxbeta23 I don't see the extra value even for £100 🤷♂️ Maybe the anti reflection treatment...but everything else is nearly identical
So you think Samsung should offer you the full payment for your used device?
@Joeeye123 not really, but when they sell you something for £1200-£1300 and next year they offer you £300 for it, shows how they value said product. That means if you hold on and not buy it now, In a few months it will be down to £600 with a trade in.
