    I have just started working at a company based in Croatian & will be travelling & also interacting with colleagues who speak English excellently but I want to be able to at least understand the basics hopefully more but I have to start somewhere and language & other than English which I love & continue to learn new words, grammar & tenses etc. (& I’m 53!) but French was not so good for me at school although my attitude wasn’t good either teenage hormones & all but then learnt basics & certain phrases in German from my dad so I could probably buy beer, play snooker & go hunting & not forgetting to get up & move quickly & call someone an idiot!! Haha I’ve made my dad sound awful but it was all great fun! Then I went in a 6 week Spanish for beginners so I can order beer…again…& that’s probably the most crucial one, give directions, read a basic menu & go shopping & another important one, ‘it’s not urgent’ it will be ‘mañana bebe’. But I’m waffling…this is my first video and you’ve explained it so well I’m looking forward to practicing and learning more! Thank you so much! Hasta la vista baby 😅

    Great video with effective teaching method - thanks, and subscribed! Have you considered doing the same video in Croatian instead of English? A learner who already knows 100-200 words would get really good listening practise as well as pick up new vocabulary because the video subject (numbers) is easy to follow. I can't find anyone on RUclips that does videos at an advanced beginner level. 🙂💚🇭🇷 Good luck with the channel 🙂

    Thank you very much for the video! My question is: When do you say tisuća and tisuću? Is there any difference in the meaning?
    Another question: How would you say e.g. 5382 or 8634 in Croatian? And, as year numbers, 1848, 1989? I have been searching the web but haven't found any information. Thank you!
    Another thing: I typed learncroatian.com but didn't find a page.

    • @learncroatian9135
      @learncroatian9135  3 года назад +1

      You are very welcome! That's a great question. If you want to say just one thousand, you would say "jedna tisuća". If you add more, than it becomes "tisuću". If you want to pronounce the years you mentioned, you would say "tisuću osamsto četrdeset osma, tisuću devetsto osamdeset deveta". You would use ordinal numbers but in a way that the last number is ordinal and the rest are cardinal.
      As for 5382 - pet tisuća tristo osamdeset dva. Now the reason this is pet tisuća not 5 tisuću is that you had to change the count of the number.
      1000 - jedna tisuća
      2000 - dvije tisuće
      3000 - tri tisuće
      4000 - četiri tisuće
      5000 - pet tisuća (and this repeats onwards for all the rest of the numbers.)

    Bog! There are two ways of saying the number, for example, 21: dvadeset dva OR dvadeset i dva. Are they interchangeable or not? I would like to know which one is more common in Croatia. I have one question about tisuća and tisuću. Are they the same, "tisuća and tisuću" means 1.000? jedna tisuća and jedna tisuću? I dont understand why some of the people say tisuća and others say tisuću. It is a bit confusing. Which one is more common in Croatia?
    Anyway. ja sam četrdeset šest (years old). Sorry, I am just beginner of Croatian. I have not learnt how to say the full sentence. I am forty six years old in Croatian. I was born in (1975). 1975 = tisuća/tisuću devetsto sedamdeset pet. This year is 2021 = dva tisuće dvadeset jedan.
    I love your videos and I want to learn Croatian language and travel there one day. Keep up your videos! I will learn your videos soon. Hvala!

    • @learncroatian9135
      @learncroatian9135  2 года назад +1

      Bog, Vincenzo! Thank you for your great questions! So, the "i" between numbers is optional. You can say both "dvadeset i jedan", and "dvadeset jedan". I would say that losing the "i" is more common in everyday speech. In fact, you may notice that locals even shorten some of the numbers and say something like "dvaes-jedan", etc. :) Depends on the region, I guess. As for tisuća and tisuću, it's a little confusing, I know. So, if you simply want to say the number one thousand (1 000), the correct way would be "jedna tisuća", or just "tisuća". However, when you count, it's more common to say "tisuću". So, instead of Nominative case you would use the Accusative. This rule follows the number of a certain year - You were born in tisuću devetsko sedamdeset pete (this is an ordinal number, as the years are stated as ordinal, not cardinal numbers). Currently, it's the year 2021 - Dvije tisuće dvadeset prva. The reason why it's "dvije tisuće" and not "dva tisuću" is because the number "tisuća" is feminine and so the Accusative is "dvije tisuće".
      I know this is confusing if you're only starting to learn the language but I hope I managed to clarify it at least a little bit! Keep up the great work!

    • @vincenzovinciullo4666
      @vincenzovinciullo4666 2 года назад

      @@learncroatian9135 Bog OR Bok! Thank you for sending me your messages. You are right that it is confusing. If it will be 2022, I would say in Croatian, "dvije tisuće dvadeset druga"? "dvije" = accusative, feminine and cardinal number, "tisuće" = accusative, feminine and cardinal number, "dvadeset druga" = (two words are together) nominative, feminine and ordinal number.
      2007 = dvije tisuće sedma.
      1985 = tisuću devetsto osamdeset pete

    • @learncroatian9135
      @learncroatian9135  2 года назад

      @@vincenzovinciullo4666 You are correct!! If you just want to say the year, then it's as you said - dvije tisuće dvadeset druga. If you want to say that something is going to happen in 2022, then you say dvije tisuće dvadeset druge. So, in the end, what you wrote 2007- dvije tisuće sedma (if stating a year), dvije tisuće sedme (if stating that something happened then. Same for 1985.
