Once a beautiful old home with a soul now the soul has been depleted. This sad old girl will finally meet its maker and go to rubble heaven awesome find mate cheers.
Dont worry about it being a Shorter Video, Paul. For those of us like myself who cant wait for our weekly video/videos. Its not just how long the video is. Its about the time and effort you put in to find these places. And go through them and film everything you can. You mention everything you can about these great places. You point out details. Talk about the interesting items (when there are things left behind) that you find. Like the newspapers and their dates. You look through draws and cupboards. Show us things like Ceiling Roses , Pressed Tin ceilings , Wood ceilings. And you make it feel like we are out there with you on the explore. Please keep up the good work. Urbex Indigo thanks my friend for sharing with me this video about Late 1800`s single front cottage neglected in the suburbs it was a really old house i don't think it is worth saving it it is not in really good shape and i am from the U.S.A and i always enjoy your channel and i will always show your channel support and God Bless.
🌟oh my gosh I love it already! She sure is in rough shape but still has a soul and a story to tell! Love the archway, I’ll bet she’ll be turned to rubble soon such a great shame. Such a cosy little cottage I would be very happy living there. Thank you so much for the tour. ❤😊🌟:-) x
Yes it is another great abandoned house in Adelaide to explore and it is in a suburb neighborhood and as with houses like this it has a long history and It would take a lot of work fixing it up but it is really great to explore it though have a great week and Thank You for yet another awesome video of exploring abandoned houses.🇦🇺🇦🇺👋🤠👋🇦🇺🇦🇺
Hey Paul. Lovely example of a Victorian built home. Very spacious and grand front rooms. Well built. I can imagine the people living there. Women in beautiful dresses and men in suits with a tie. Very respectable. Thanks again.🇦🇺
My late grandparents lived in one of these house in Adelaide, it was a lovely home although costly with repairs. I was sad to see the home go but unfortunately something had to pay for the cost of care. Love your explores, stay safe out there 😊
Ive never heard of salt damp but its the same as rising damp which i have heard of..when i looked it up it says it can cause bricks to explode from the inside😮howd ya be?
U can put furniture on the hinge side and use it is the upside of splitting the door, an alternative i've seen in my place is the previous owner just removed the doors.
That would of been an awesome little home back in the day. My grandparents had a small home almost like that in Melbourne, but it was wider with small rooms either side of the front door and the hallway actually zig zagged through the centre of the house. I can still remember my grandmother shuffling from room to room and the distinct smells. Mintie lollies and something else, almost a clean linen smell. By the looks of it though, it may need to be completely demolished and rebuilt from scratch if one wanted it the same. Some of those huge cracks are telling me it is beginning a sink a little bit and foundationally unsound. If one was to save it they would have to strip it right back to an empty shell so that they could rebuild the collapsing walls (those huge beams either side that are bolted to each other through the wall are there for a reason) and then replace the roof and work from there. Might actually give a reason to put a nice second story to make more living space. But I think the biggest issue is that like many of those homes, they share a wall with the neighbours house. One wrong move and both houses may come down together. Neighbour may get a tad big emotional.
These types of homes are very common in the Southern USA in what were called Mill Towns or Company Towns, where the company that owned a mill or mine also owned all of the homes and rented them to the workers through payroll deduction. The layout is just the same, except they were more commonly wood framed and sided as that was cheaper than brick. The houses would be lined up right next to each other and all pretty much exactly the same. We call them "shotgun shacks" or if they are nicely kept up "shotgun homes" because you could fire a shotgun in the front door and get buckshot into every room and out the back. A very cool old home, but the reality is with all of the extensive cracking, roof rot, and the need for a complete rebuild of the lean-to area at the rear, it would probably cost more to repair that one than it would be worth. Still, I would rather see it than whatever modern ugly building will replace it. Thanks once again for taking us with you!!
Nice old place. What's with the doors making them half hinged or whatever you call that. It seems odd to do that. Yes, what is the upside of doing that? The walls have seen better days, too. This place is too far gone, unfortunately.. thanks for sharing. Cheers, MM :)
All the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't get her together again, though they tried real hard. Thanks for the tour Paul! 👍🤠 Note: 9:56 And a big arse one at that! The biggest I've ever saw! Maybe it had a tub at one time.
Once again great explore Paul I enjoy every video u put up u have come a long way since u started yr channel I think I've told u before really look forward to u up loading them keep them coming
What a beautiful old place.. ❤❤ such a shame it it’s likely a bit far gone for Reno.. just love these old old houses… just a pity so many are just left and forgotten about..😊😊
Hi Susan 😊 I use land titles and old street directories and aerial surveys mostly for quick research results. There is also the old council rates register for more which requires looking at old micro films at the council history centre. Land titles are not clear on when the actual building was built so seeing when people first appeared in the directories can help and even they have a one or two year lag because of how the information was gathered and printed back then 😊👍
Hi Mate, how does one go about finding, buying and saving properties like this? I'm looking to buy my first place and I far rather my money go towards saving a place like this then to buy a house with no charm.
Hi Katt 😊 glad to hear you love these old places. Unfortunately the land is what developers want which puts the price out of reach for a lot of home lovers as this one in particular is in a very desirable suburb so even though the cottage is in tough shape the price will be ridiculous! Are you in Australia? These properties usually end up going on the market for auction unless the offer is right. 👍
What a shame! I hope if they do demolish, they keep as many features as possible so someone can use for restoring, and not just send it all to the tip.
Is this an example of what happens when someone doesn't replace very old tin roofing? Poor old thing suffered enough with the severed doors & hideous tiling in the bathroom & kitchen. Cheap bustards! Typo cos I think I can't say that common word on the tube }sighs{ I like swearing...& old houses. I've seen a lot of saveable house videos here but this isn't one of 'em. Shame.

Thanks, Paul. A shame about losing the history but I'm with you, it's not saveable.
Hi paul, what a good little video you showed us. Love that style home. Must have been great in its time. Cheers deb
Yes seen better days... The electric wiring looks original to the build with the steel casing conduit and period correct fittings at the front.
I love you’re choice of intro music. It really sets the mood.
Classic old home....Nice work.UI...😊
hiya paul!! shes in rough condition but, i can envision her in her heyday. the living room is my favorite room.
I haven’t seen those
split doors like this
before good idea if
you remodel your doors
this is a really good idea.
Folding doors would take less room into space when opening and also cover less of adjacent wall.
Sliding doors work well if enough wall space each side. Make the room feel nicer.
Thank you for taking us on another brilliant explore much appreciated
@Urbex Indigo I enjoy
your videos keep
them coming.👍🏼😃
Must have been a beautiful smaller home. Its so sad that young homes like this are in such a bad shape. So much history disappearing. 😢
Thanks Paul 👍👍
I bet she shown with her beauty and pride of her family. Now heart broken that her family is gone. 😢
Hate these homes I really want to break down and cry!! Wish I had all the money in the universe to save them all 🙌

Doors like those (bi-fold) take up less space when open than a full one piece door.
Cheers Kathy, that makes sense! 😊
Thank you Paul for another beautiful home.May i ask how you figure out the age of the homes you visit.

That would still sell for $3mill as is in Melbourne 😂

No heritage listing in SA?
We do, and been up for sale numerous times, they can't seen to sell it. Also depends if it is structurally sound or not.
Do you know the soundtrack at the intro and outro of this video

this place has seen better days
What is difference in an out house and a dunny or is it the same thing ?
About the split doors. Maybe someone was using a wheelchair and this made them just that bit wider to accommodate them.
I relish these. ❤
Poor lady, age was so unkind to her. ☹️
Those doors are made that way , so when the door is open they don't take up too much room when open ( that's what I think ) 🇦🇺 🦘
