This series really shows the difference between being kind and just being harmless.
Inuyashiki , the protagonist, chose to do good and tried to not hurt anyone or abuse his power even though he very much could.
Whereas Hiro is just a straight up psychopath who is choosing to live out every intrusive thought he's ever had. Showing that he was always a budding serial killer deep down who was just harmless because he didn't actually have the *power* to act on his fantasies

Hiro's choice was the more fun option. Besides, it isn't necessarily that "power corrupts," yes and no. It does, but not all the time. Sometimes, if you become powerful in that manner, life no longer becomes a "challenge" to you. Sometimes, people will just get bored and start doing things because they can, choosing to do what people call "bad" because they just wanna see what happens, how the world acts around them.
This would be more typical of god like beings. As a psychologist, this stuff is fascinating to me because a lot of people think a god would be more like a loving figure when in reality, they WILL look down on you as an inferior lifeform like humans look down on insects or microbes and will inevitably destroy you for their own amusement.
Have you ever built a jenga tower or a house of cards and regardless of the work you put into making it, you also want to see it come crashing down? It's the same principle. Even if your god was a "nice" being, it wouldn't be forever. If it has a will and consciousness, it has desire and if it has desire, it will exhaust all possibilities it has, it is animal nature.
People tend to think they could never harm someone but all those people are liars. You could take the nicest person in the world and subject them to this kind of power and with the inability to age and power like this, life will lose all meaning to them and they are just going to start doing stuff they haven't before. That instinct just seems to hit some people easier than it does others. HOWEVER, it would only be a matter of time. Even for the nicest of people, I'd give the longest estimate of that range of 1000 years, I guarantee no human with this power would EVER go past 1000 years with that power before they start trying stuff like Hiro.
@@maozedong8370I think it’s more so the fact he goes out of his way to cause more problems for himself than necessary.
The bullies dying is at least justified because they were harassing his friend but even then killing them wasn’t necessary.

Without spoiling too much: What causes the two Metal Men to go in such extreme directions was the timing on the crash. They both were processing traumatic life events that had shattered their world views, just to be killed and brought back as WMDs. You could say it's like giving 2 mentally unstable people a gun each and then sending them out into the world.

In the end, just what’s up with Hiro’s head ? On the one hand he’s a psycho cyborg that can kill completely innocent families and people for literally no reasons (and he has kills of both justifiable and unjustifiable).
On the other hand he clearly have humanity, and spare his mom and friends from his bloodlust.
And he wouldn’t suffer so much, and get away with what he’s doing, if he didn’t kill those families for no reasons.
