Defeating 100 soldiers in a single night, and smashing through the huge flail was before he got Dragonslayer, surviving 100 supernatural punches(canonball sized fists covered in super durable metal) was before he got the Berserker Armor. I think the results are accurate.
Noghtmare has some consistent Island+ level shit. Which is way above anything Guts has done. Hell, Death Battle literally said Nightmare was stronger in the episode. Guts won sheerly because they wanted him too.
@@theblasblas Well, let's see. - Nightmare should scale roughly to Abyss, since he and Siegfried defeated him. 6:19 "How do you make a sword like that 14 pounds?" Most swords weigh less than 5 pounds, 14 pounds is exceptionally heavy. I own a few swords myself. The zweihander (lit. "two-hander"), aka Greatsword, ranges between 4.4 to 8.8 pounds and is the heaviest class of sword, although there are historical examples up to 10 pounds that I know of (medieval claymores are also great swords, but they usually weigh less than 7 pounds. There are other greatsword designs from Europe, but the German Zweihander was the largest). The weight sounds small, but you have to remember that length multiplies force, which not only means adding 1 pound can significantly increase striking force with such a long sword, but it also means each extra pound quickly makes the sword unwieldy because countering or redirecting that force as the wielder to defend or attack again takes way too much time. The Zweihander was functionally a spear and polearm with its reach, but could also hack through spears and polearms like an axe. Big sweeping motions and figure-8s would be used in large formations to counter spear walls and phalanxes, but in 1-on-1 fights with an opponent with a finesse weapon you would half-sword it, meaning you would grab your sword by both the hilt and the unsharpened base of the blade to use it like a shorter sword. Against other heavily armed opponents you would use murder strokes, which is a technique where you grab the sword by the end of the blade and swing to hit with the hilt and pommel like a giant hammer. I like swords.

Berserk is a masterpiece and Guts is one of the greatest 3-dimensional human characters in all of fiction. But as you can tell from the video it is not a story for kids… which is an understatement. There’s no anime that does the manga (comic if you don’t know) justice though. I do recommend the 1997 series though. Edit: R.I.P Kentaro Miura Thank you for creating Berserk
Berserk is one of the most influential mangas to date, even if it’s not the most popular. Though it didn’t create the dark anti-hero trope in manga, it definitely pioneered it along with the consumed by rage idea. It’s lord of the rings of conflicted manga protagonists, they didn’t create the trope but they pioneered it.
Berserk is one of the best mangas ever written (and drawn!), if you're up to it, i'd reccomend atleast watching the 1997 adaption of it which covers the first quarter of the whole story
it as been wondered over the years if Guts is even truly human due to his strength and ability to seemly endure wounds that have killed other outright. One idea floating around was that might be some sort of half breed as even thou his birth father is never mentioned at all Guts is the only human character to visible canines and his ear tips are slight more pointed then how other folks are drawn save for one other character -- the former human turned demon apostle Nosferatu Zodd. Zodd is shown in his more human form to be a very tall, heavily build man with short black hair, pointed ears and large almost tusk like teeth and has been around for well over 300 hundred years by the time we are first introduced to him
Both are unique stories and have clear differences, but it's pretty clear FF7 drew a lot of inspiration from Berserk. It was really cool to figure this out as someone who loved (and still loves) FF7 as a teenager and who only discovered Berserk a couple of years back. Love 'em both. Cloud and Guts = mercs who learn to trust people again, have a giant thick sword Griffith and Sephiroth = Friends to enemies, have a thinner and longer sword, become some sort of inhuman monster Berserk inspired a lot of things, really. Dark Souls, a ton of anime with sad guys with a big sword...
Berserk is my favorite piece of fantasy fiction in existence and it's highly recommend! The 1997 adaptation is fantastic, the movie trilogy is decent and we don't talk about the 2016/2017 adaptation.
@@theduckgoesmoo yeah. No feats they gave Guts should have gotten him to the point where he could win ( hell they barely gave any calcs to begin with). Guts has dodged Lightning with the Berserker Armor. He also destroyed the torrential avatar of the sixth strongest demon and killed the avatar of one of the top 5 in her own dimension, causing the whole thing to collapse.

@@theduckgoesmoo yes, it bathed in so much demon blood it can now destroy otherwise untouchable astral beings. Such as ghosts, stronger demons or even inferno
@@hypnoticrobotgaming that’s not magic tho lol.
It's not necessarily magic; it's more like the sword took on a life of its own- it has a "thirst" for supernatural blood.
@@DickGarrison If I cover a sword in tiny elemental spirits, it's a magical sword. If I bathe an edged slab of steel in the blood of thousands of demons, it's not magical sword. Great deduction.
It saddens me and all of berserk fan knowing that berserk will not continue.
Thank you Kentaro Miura for the wonderful story.
Well...
@@stefano_sw5775 It coming back… huh?
Berserk is a masterpiece and Guts is one of the greatest 3-dimensional human characters in all of fiction. But as you can tell from the video it is not a story for kids… which is an understatement. There’s no anime that does the manga (comic if you don’t know) justice though. I do recommend the 1997 series though.
Edit: R.I.P Kentaro Miura
Thank you for creating Berserk
Miura you magnificent bastard, keep up that demon slaying in the afterlife.😢
Zodd is shown in his more human form to be a very tall, heavily build man with short black hair, pointed ears and large almost tusk like teeth and has been around for well over 300 hundred years by the time we are first introduced to him
The anime industry should REALLY make a best adaptation of Berserk in honor for Kentaro Miura
Both are unique stories and have clear differences, but it's pretty clear FF7 drew a lot of inspiration from Berserk. It was really cool to figure this out as someone who loved (and still loves) FF7 as a teenager and who only discovered Berserk a couple of years back. Love 'em both.
Cloud and Guts = mercs who learn to trust people again, have a giant thick sword
Griffith and Sephiroth = Friends to enemies, have a thinner and longer sword, become some sort of inhuman monster
Berserk inspired a lot of things, really. Dark Souls, a ton of anime with sad guys with a big sword...
That timing from that death battle fuck man... Rest in Peace ✌️
The author of Guts-(berserk) just past away a few moments ago
RIP
Has actually passed away on May 6th, his family just kept it quiet until then.
@@Razgriz_01 that's fuck up
Berserk is my favorite piece of fantasy fiction in existence and it's highly recommend! The 1997 adaptation is fantastic, the movie trilogy is decent and we don't talk about the 2016/2017 adaptation.
16:20 he only doesnt feel pain when the curse is active
Is told the tale of the most dangerous man to ever live
Kyle: is he fast though?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Actually Lex Luthor is Superman’s arch enemy, society man Joker is Batman’s arch enemy
Elden Ring has been the perfect honour to Kentaro!!! Rest in peace!
Dammit, HOW did you get this one wrong?! HOW?!
Well nightmare should of won by the logic of the episode itself, so I understand why he got it wrong.
@@KEEPTALKIN8215 okay so I'm not crazy
@@theduckgoesmoo yeah. No feats they gave Guts should have gotten him to the point where he could win ( hell they barely gave any calcs to begin with). Like them showing nightmare doing that big energy wave thing against that huge army should of been more than enough to beat Guts because it was more than what guts fought in that whole day and nightmare did it in one move and Nightmare destroying the big tower was a greater feat than anything they gave Guts.
@@KEEPTALKIN8215 The Sea God Guts defeated was the size of an island, he got rammed by a kaiju and survived, he broke through a diamond dragon's armor. Guts just doesn't have an AOE move, but he has a lot of feats that are on par or surpasses Nightmare's feats.
@@theblasblas to bad the episode didn't give anything to go by with those feats. They just said it was a " giant sea god" with nothing else to go off of. Plus since guts killed from inside he shouldn't really scale to tha kaiju ramming into it.also what exactly is the diamond dragon armor feat I'm looking for it and can't find it.
I've read Berserk, There was really only one way this could end.
Oh Kyle if you think these death battles are good, than you haven’t seen anything yet. Death Battle gets lit after the second season.
Also Lex Luthor is Superman’s rival.
You were close tho.
People should honestly be surprised I know that Lex Luthor exists
Yeah, wait till you see Death Battles like Dante vs Bayoneta. This is one of my favourites.
Then*
If you think the analysis for gutts was brutal, you have no idea how much worse the manga goes. Straight up hardcore.
Thanks for reacting to this death battle!
Wait there's *worse* ?
God I remember whenever I watched this when it came out.
I knew absolutely nothing about berserk and guts but was a Superman of nightmare so I thought he would completely wipe especially with his night terror form.
Then I watch berserk and realized nightmare is a regular Saturday morning for him 😂
I love how guts its still spamming his crossbow at the sword when the fight is already over 17:12
16:16 he feels pain until the armour is activated
Guts is one of the best written characters in all of fiction imo
Soul Calibur best fighting game as well as best story, in my humble opinion.
in fairness I didn't really like the art Chang after 3.
@@murasaika2776 Really? I thought it was phenomenal when I first saw it, maybe me just being a mega simp for the series but I see what you mean, the changes were pretty big jumps from 2 and 3 to 4 and after.
yeah, aesthetically I still prefer 3, especially since it seemed to also have some of the most varied customization, and also had the special class types.
Woah you've got timing Duck, the author of Berserk just died
Sadly, we'll never get the big dukaroo between Guts and Griffith now.
You know what you should watch, Round the Twist.
Badass zweihander vs Badass zweihander sign me the hell up
I’m a person you recognize! Not here to comment about the fight, I was as lost as you were. (Plus I learned my lesson over analyzing one series just is NOT enough for death battle comments and I had zero this time.) So I’ll just say Lex Luthor is Superman’s rival, but he lives a life very similar to Batman. And THAT fight is my 2nd favorite death battle. So looking forward to watching it! It’s one of the best animated ones.
Are we not going to talk about the fact that when inferno came in they used Cinder from killer instinct as the sprite?
Let's just say Guts and Doom Guy would probably be good friends, if you're ever in need of a new show I'd highly recommend the Berserk 1997 anime. It's really good imo and Guts is easily one of my all time favorite characters.
Imagine a tag team of those 2
@@theduckgoesmoo If those two became a duo I'd almost feel bad for any demons that get in their way, almost lol.
*sees the Guts doubt*
Oh you poor sweet summer child
RIP Kentaro Miura creator of Berserk. What poor timing to find this video in my feed.
Cirgarates you ivy I can see my love where my games at Lollapalooza
*drinks monster* Lex Luther... Who I think is Batman's rival, or something? *spits out drink* "...You misspelt Superman..."
Guts has to win because Guts is the archetype of "Big Guy with Big Sword". Without Guts there is no Nightmare.
19:04 I mean that's kinda true…
if we're talking about romantic rivals, they are rivals for Superman's affection.
Guts is literally a crazy guy with a sword
Not necessarily.
I don't comment too much, but do you have MY name memorized? :D
I recognize you!
Next time is my favourite death battle ever!
Oh hells yeah, it's not my #1 favorite, but it's definitely up there.
The thing about salt mines is everything is salt the walls are salt the roof is salt the floor is salt even the air is salty
Were you at all paying attention to the "Kills ghosts" part?
Alfredo Ahumad tusk killer instinct letsgo
Berserk is a Manga/Anime and Soul Caliber is a Fighting Game series/franchise.
Guts has dodged Lightning with the Berserker Armor. He also destroyed the torrential avatar of the sixth strongest demon and killed the avatar of one of the top 5 in her own dimension, causing the whole thing to collapse.
About demons. Though powerful, Nightmare isn't even the strongest demon in Berserk standards. It makes sense
SoulCalibur has a continuous storyline. It starts with Soul Edge (or Soul Blade) then SoulCalibur 1-5 then a reboot with 6. They tend to also have guest stars depending on the version, for example SoulCalibur IV has Darth Vader on PS3 and Yoda on Xbox360. SoulCalibur Broken Destiny for PSP has Kratos from God of War.
Soul Calibur 4 has both Yoda and Darth Vader on 360.
Anyone else coming back here before Guts returns?
Quite a lot actually based off the new comments
You should definitely watch Samus vs Boba fett
YES, both of them pls
Highly (such an understatement) recommend you read Berserk bro (assuming you know now Berserk is a manga first before any game)
At the least watch the anime though they’ve really only ever did the Golden Age Arc. Just…be prepared if you do. One of the most tragic tales I’ve ever read-
Thnx for the vid!👍 “therapy” 😂
You should react to Jowatt. It's a tf2 youtuber. Very random content
R.I.P. Miura
I'm sorry Lex LUTHOR is BATMANS enemy?
