Fun fact: Jonathan Joestar was the only one DIO called and acknowledged as Jojo. He may have hated his guts, but he ultimately had massive respect for the only man to give him multiple Ls

He even got mad when Wang Chan expressed a desire to torture Jonathan before killing him. I also don't think he hated him that much towards the end because when Jonathan confronted him at his castle he confesses that he sent minions to kill Jonathan because Dio wanted to avoid killing him himself due to the fact that they grew up together and that making Jonathan his zombie slave didn't seem funnto him. However he realizes it was a weakness in him for Jonathan and decided to overcome said weakness by opting to make Jonathan his zombie.
@@ezelegui7901 To Dio those fights counted because Jonathan managed to go from someone he regarded as trash to someone who could match and equal him. Jonathan challenging and beating him also lead to Dio to reinventing his plans and pushed him to do things he never even thought about doing on his own. He even says that if it wasn't for Jonathan he wouldn't have had his vampire powers since Jonathan's interest in the stone mask and him uncovering Dio's plans to poison George is what leads to Dio using the mask on himself and becoming a vampire.
Jonathan sacrificed himself with the intention of dying with Dio and in the end Dio didn't die, but Jonathan still managed to stall him for 100 years and he manages to secure his bloodline so they would be the ones who beat DIO. Not to mention Jonathan's body is the one that sends the signal and gives the other Joestars their stands when Enya pierces it and it becomes a weakness for DIO since Jonathan's body was rejecting him.

The part that gets ne with the staircase scene is that you know DIO had to have pracriced that shit. At that point he could only stop time for a few seconds, so he had to put a throne in a room near enough to grab while time was stopped. Not to mention the effort to perfectly move Polnereff a step down the stairs and move back into his stance. DIO is somethin else man.
I thought he could just use the world to fly off and grab one, same with moving polnareff, given his stand is tremendously faster than him.
