"The teacher will block the bullets with their bodies so we can run." As an educator, this statement is very true. Though we may have our own children and families, our first instinct in a school setting is the safety and protection of our students even if it means we might never see our own children again. It is heart breaking to think about. My heart goes out to all of these children, the families, and the teachers.

    • @WickedLobstah978
      @WickedLobstah978 2 года назад

@@shawnyboi7008 Rights are not stupid! They are your rights! The vast majority of legal gun owners in this country have guns to protect their families and hope to never have to use them in that manner. When the Obama daughters were in school, there were armed secret service wherever they went. The elite of our country know exactly how to protect their kids in school. Having somebody armed who's willing to protect and even die for their kids deters potential threats. Who would be willing to do that more than a teacher?! Immediate fix to this is to arm some teachers at every school in America and offer a yearly federal stipend bonus for those willing to participate. Another thing is to make only one entrance at every school and all other doors only exit able with metal detectors and or those spinning things that you go through. I don't care what anyone in this country says, but the ONLY way to fix this immediately is to arm teachers in every school in the country. Within a week from now, every school in this country could be better protected. We shouldn't care about the cost. It will be very expensive, but if we can give billions to other countries then we can do this to protect our own! Guns are NOT the problem!!!! Mental health and social media very much are the problem. If you made every single gun in this country disappear overnight, a motivated person who wanted to kill could simply rent a U-Haul truck and ride a sidewalk in a busy area for 20 seconds and do the exact same damage. People need to stop looking at this from a coward's perspective. Stop looking at it from a political perspective. Our guns are NOT going away! It's that simple, so what are the solutions? We all need to look at ways to get this done ASAP! My above idea is practical and would create an immediate deterrent. Our teachers are underpaid as well, so federal stipend bonuses would help them. Think of the Pros and Cons of this. The only con is the cost! Everything else is a Pro. My idea is a no-brainer, but our politicians will go back and forth on this, and we will only be even more worse off than we are now!

Horrific. As a teacher 14 years in TX (DFW Area) & now 1 yr here in IN, a teachers job has changed. These students come to us in August and we start getting to know each other and learning together. Some tough love has to occur, but we bond. EVERY student I have ever had becomes, "My kid" . . .it comes out of my mouth at school, at home, church, and anywhere where I may be talking about school - they become My kids. And like a mama bear, I will do everything to help them both in and out of the classroom, academically, behaviorally, emotionally, etc. As time has passed, especially over the last 8-10 years, the job has changed. I get more complaints about how tough I am, how my expectations are too high, how "you don't like my child". Surprisingly, as a teacher, I have trained side by side with other teachers with the SWAT team to learn how to "take down a threat", walked my room and the halls with the Police to learn the weak spots and what we can do about them should something happen. I have been trained on how to use Mace by the SWAT team, and have even had to train with the SWAT team on active shooter "drills." I never thought my job would turn into this. I have been ASKED if I was willing to arm myself, and carry a weapon should something happen. I believe in the rights of the 2nd Amendment, but have never actually held or shot a gun myself . . and feel a gun in my hands, personally, could turn into more of a disaster than a help should we have an active shooter. Who knows, I might surprise myself in the moment, but I don't see it going well. So, when I saw this posted by a fellow teacher, it hit my HEART . . hard, and there is SO MUCH TRUTH in these words. Teachers are being given responsibilities that are not part of our job description and we are called HEROS when shootings happen, we sacrifice during COVID shutdowns, etc. . . . but we seem to only be supported when it's convenient - - - THINK about this the next time you are asked to weigh in on how to solve these problems, the next time you are called to a Parent Teacher Conference, or receive a phone call about your child's behavior, or question your child's grades . . . THINK about these words. . .(copied from a fellow teacher) .
    ********************
To those in the general public screaming “Arm the teachers! Give the teachers guns!”…let me get this straight…
You don’t trust us to teach our content - there are so many bills going to state legislatures undermining the expertise teachers bring to the field. We need to publish a year’s worth of lesson plans because you don’t believe we’re actually teaching, right?
You don’t trust us when we say your student is the reason they’re failing when they are skipping class, aren’t submitting assignments, are playing both sides of the field and are dropping the ball, but it must be the teacher’s fault, right?
You don’t trust us to hold your student accountable for their behavior, standing firm on commitments and expectations, because it’s the teacher asking too much, right?
You don’t trust us to discipline students when they act out or abuse the system, because they’re precious little angels, and we’re the problem, right?
But you’ll trust us, no…EXPECT us to take a bullet for them when the system - when, at this point, not if - fails them. (Ask any teacher, because of our love of our students - that's why we decided to teach. . . you can't do this job if you don't love your students - we WILL do almost everything we can to protect your children in a serious event). . . but THAT is for US to decide - not you to DEMAND. (We didn't sign up to be Police Officers for a reason, etc.)
And NOW you’re saying you trust us, trust me, to add firearm safety and defensive firearm training to my plate? You don’t trust me to execute a lesson plan but you’ll trust me to execute an intruder?
Incredible teachers are leaving the field every day. Phenomenal teachers are barely hanging on as they go through our day to day. Accredited programs and universities all over the country are closing their education programs because no one is enrolling.
When your kids, or grandkids, nieces, and nephews are being taught by actual undertrained people who are the only option to hire, will that make you happy? I mean…at least they’ll have guns…right?
    *********************************
Bottom line - if we are considered HEROS to you for any number of reasons, work to get us what we need to do our REAL job - Teach . . . LISTEN to the reasons for those bad grades and what was offered to help your child, LISTEN to the behaviors taking place - they say "it takes a village" - so be part of our village and UPHOLD consequences set at school and instill some consequences of your own at home to get it fixed. FYI - the biggest problem to student learning in general is STUDENT BEHAVIOR & RESPONSIBILITY - help us from home, support us from home, and ensure we have everything you can give us to help your kids reach for success. ADVOCATE for teachers and their needs so we can advocate for your child's needs. I can not tell you how many times I call a parent about behavior & explain the incident in detail and the consequences at school only to hear that parent respond, "That's not what Johnny (who is 10) said happened." REally? You're going to believe a 10 year old over the trained adult who has been doing this for 15 years? HOW ARE YOU HELPING?

3rd graders are at the doorway to the world and are sooo dedicated to learn and "join the human race."
4th graders are "seasoned 3rd graders" who now have a "passion" to learn and be "the smartest kid on the block."
As someone who taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade, these unspoiled children have such a passion and newly-discovered facility to learn, they go beyond their abilities to learn to understand the world and struggle to be the best they can be! These children are heroes to themselves and to everyone around them.
The death of a 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader is a tragedy beyond tragedies. God bless these saints!!!

Wow, what his teacher was going to do to try protect them💔how terrifying and brave.. What a nightmare. Teachers choose to educate and help our worlds innocence. In America though they are choosing so much more. What's wrong with the people who do school shootings? It's so heartbreaking and senseless

@@HM2SGT I get some of what you are saying...but I am not buying all of it. Without a plan and without practice....you can't believe that?! Unfortunately in America, mass school shootings are a way of life in recent years. There's no excuse to be in law enforcement and not have proper training and practice for this...especially in Texas where they just had a mass casualties event at a school a couple of years ago (believe 2018). If you are going to be in a state where open carry is a way of life, you better have safeguards in place because it's quite obvious that weapons and ammunition are going to land in the hands of people who are not well by any standard.
And those babies and two teachers SHOULD NOT have taken on being the slaughtered consequences of not having a proper plan in place as well as other safeguards/red flags falling through the cracks.
Be well and be at peace.

@@HM2SGT I am actually working and didn't get a chance to read through all your points. I will try later. But a couple of things that I read that I would like to respond to:
For almost 2 yrs, I was CONSTANTLY in all parts of Texas...from Houston, to Woodlands, to Dallas, to Lubbock, to Kileen, to Galveston to South Padre Island. I have seen more than enough open carry. Is it all citizens..of course not, but it's enough as well as not counting those that may have it in a holster covered by a jacket (and this could be ladies as well). My point is open carry is available for all if they so choose.
Doesn't matter if you're in a small town...that doesn't obsolve one from the evils of this world and how law enforcement (as well as everyday citizens) has to be prepared in the best ways as possible. Buffalo as well as this tragic Uvalde incident has proven that (evil can come to small, rural parts of any state).
My last comment was typed before this latest press conference in Uvalde. Did you watch? I suggest you do. I am not a gun carrier or even in law enforcement and you could tell major balls may have been dropped. And now the Director of Public Safety for the state of Texas has admitted/confirmed that 😒. Not just balls being dropped...but MAJOR common sense errors 😳. God help us and have mercy on us all.
Be well and be at peace.

@@HM2SGT Ok...inherent flaws in freedom 🤔??!! Taking action because of what might be??!! With all due respect...it's that type of attitude that played a HUGE part in the equation of these 19 babies and two teachers being slaughtered. You quoted Ben Franklin. I will quote from a great source that hasn't been wrong since the beginning of time the Holy Bible:
There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.
      Proverbs 14:12 NASB1995
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.
      Galatians 6:7 NASB1995
You say, “I am allowed to do anything”-but not everything is good for you. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”-but not everything is beneficial. Don’t be concerned for your own good but for the good of others.

Steven C. McCraw, the director of the Texas Department of Public Safety said in a press conference Friday "Obviously, based on the information we
have, there were children in that classroom that were still at risk. From the benefit of hindsight where I'm sitting now, of course it was not the right decision. It was the wrong decision. Period."
So, I’m wrong about waiting for the right people with the right equipment & training.

I hate that phrase, "Children are resilient." It just is said to make adults feel better. Love and God's blessings to all hurt by this evilness. I'm so emotional over this, I can't imagine the pain of the poor children and families affected.

This is very traumatizing for the survivors. They were just little kids. Someone should assist them professionally because it will really affect their mental health. Rest in peace for the children who lost their lives as well as the teacher's who tried their best to protect them. This should not happen again, i hope they do make some action, immediately, before it happens again.
