Yeah...When you factor humans into the equation, It took me about 10 hours to get to where it unlocked PLATINUM relics. At that point, knowing I had to do all the challenges but EVEN HARDER, I just noped the hell out of the game entirely.
I think the biggest insult this game gives you is even when you are patient and resilient enough to complete the game in its entirety (200%), there is no reward for it. No alternate ending. No special level. No new character/skin. Not even a small acknowledgement of your accomplishment, like how fireworks explode in Crash 3 Warped in the warp room after 100% everything. After all the punishment and unfairness one endures, there is no catharsis to any of it. Only bragging rights. To quote Infinity War: "And what did it cost?" "Everything." That aside, this TAS does provide a certain degree of catharsis to all of us who have played it and experienced it all. Thank you for this. 🎉

Now that I know as an adult what a nightmare completing this game is, I'm glad I just settled for beating the final boss as a kid. This is such a nightmare that even speedrunners hate it and even the TAS has issues, that's saying something.
After watching almost all of this, i can say that the gems are the most satisfying to watch, since they can end so quickly, also applies to the more obnoxious crystal challenges.
I felt personally avenged on such outstanding performance on such unforgiving game, lots of rage moments came because of this game. Congratulations on your achievement!
Seeing those Dot Dash races ridiculous glitch where simply passing a certain area of the checkered line has been a satisfying watch being able to use that to tas advantage.
Props to you my friend, I played this game so much as a kid by myself and with my brother. Fond memories as a Crash fan, so watching someone just absolutely obliterate this game was both satisfying and remarkable! 👌🏼

Trying to beat the Crash Dash levels right now in co-op and not sure how the heck you went down multiple points at a time without even going over the finish line? Seen around 4:45:43
It's rather hard to explain, but as short as I can put it, it involves driving over the finish and then 1 frame after being pushed back over the line by an outside force (ie not driving) and then going back over the finish. For some reason, if an AI bumps you backwards across the line, since you didnt drive yourself across the line, it thinks you must've done another lap. Similarly, if you drive off the map just after the finish, it respawns you slightly backwards, and you can drive over again, same idea (see the other races). To see it in better action, watch my 2 player TAS's Dash levels.
YES! I have waited for YEARS to see a TAS of this game, a playthrough which finally gets revenge on just how blatent and infuriatingly obviously it cheats! Finally some TAS justice! And people who think modern day FIFA/COD etc are bad for rage quits have never played this game!
@@AstridLilith I assume the game takes information about the player such as their direction, items etc. to anticipate what their intent is. So if you play the game normally, the AI will constantly predict you which is very frustrating. Kong probably understands how the AI is designed and can beat it at its own game by feigning his intent or predicting what it will do instead.
@@hugoclarke3284 well, depending on how much that improves the AI play I don't think that's actually cheating. without that, the AI would probably suck. if you're right, maybe it should be more balanced? idk, but thanks for explaining also, tricking the AI using that is really clever. I wonder how doable that is in non-TAS runs but I don't have very high expectations
The "cheatiness" comes into play the further you go, not only does the AI get harder, the STATS are getting tweaked, you making less damage in tank/brawler type arenas and they do MORE damage. Same with "sumo ring" maps, where your "weight" is reduced and theirs increased...
@@AstridLilith The guy above me explained it better, in case you didn't see. I also remember the AI targeting YOU, SPECIFICALLY, and basically gang up to beat the crap out of you. What's supposed to be a 4 way brawl becomes 3 vs 1.
Now I know why Caddicarus started his 200% Crash Bash video with the literal Oxford definition of patience. Because this game will make sure to slurp it like water with it's demon like A.I. Anyway, great video!

Straight up amazing. My sister and I played the absolute hell out of this game as kids and I've still never seen some of these levels, the last one we unlocked was Dragon Drop. That difficulty was so unfair that we never even got close to 200%

8 minutes to complete the pinball minigame, 2 for the polar bear one. And about 1 minute and 30 second of that were loading times and downtime between rounds.

@@LazarouDave I’m assuming your What timestamp is for how the mine exploded early. Well when items, like wumpa or bombs, spawn on top of a placed mine, it instantly sets it off. Probably to avoid overlapping of items.

Also this list has been great to go back and watch some of the best/funny moments. Also the ending is possible outside of TAS, using Memory Manipulation in the save file name screen (it's a long story) you can do some funky things. I changed the music to the credits music, made the background spin really fast, and made the bossfight insta win so we could watch the final cutscene without having to beat Oxide again.
I need to play this again. Still get flashbacks to the tank levels when i completed this game years ago. Makes me mad just thinking about how bullshit they were

It was a passion project and Im glad I did it while I had the time. Its fun to go back to and watch snippets of from time to time, and it helped show the Bash speedrun community what was possible.
@@nasdxq after exiting a Polar push level, youll notice that youre stuck in place and cant move for just under a second. If you kick just before you can start moving again, and then start moving, youll carry the kick into your movement. Hope this makes sense! Works for all characters, Crash and Coco spin having the weirdest effect.
@@craigelbagel0012 Ah wicked! Never knew that! I’ve seen the AI (Tiny, Kong, Brio & Cortex) do this slide whilst pressing the kick button on crate crush a few times. Any idea how they do that on the crate crush levels?
@@nasdxq Unless it's on snow bash (ice physics carrying them forward) I'd have to see a clip to know what you mean. Pretty much every glitch Ive seen Ive managed to replicate with TAS, such as the lap skip glitch in Dash levels.
Fun fact, the Platinum Relic AI was set to be nearly perfect. Almost on TAS level. Which makes it all the more satisfying to see a TAS destroy this. Still wish they'd remake the game so I could play against people online though.
Plat AI are programmed to be very difficult and make little mistakes, also they have higher health, move faster in dash and medieval, overall really unfair.
@@craigelbagel0012 Amazed they didn't speed them up in the ballistic sections too... Also I don't know if it was me, but they seem to deal more damage in the tanks too.
@@DarkFrozenDepths They might be sped up actually, although cant tell. I think they do deal more damage in tanks comapred to the trophy definitely. Theres just a lot of unfairness which makes it twice as hard as it already is.
@@craigelbagel0012 Not surprised if there's a thread or something out there that did document every single change between each challenge. But yeah, the Relics are pretty brutal normally as well as some crystals and gems. Trophies aren't much of an issue, but getting to some stages was the hassle.
@@DarkFrozenDepths We have people in the Bash speedrunning community who have access to reading that kinda stuff. I dont know if its written/recorded anywhere thou, Ive only really heard word of mouth.

Yeap. Every minigame has 5 collectibles equating to 10 rounds, and thats only if you dont mess up. It was a drag at times making this.

The "You fail part” always made me cry and cuss as a kid doing the gem , and Crystal challenges .

The game rubs your failure in your face by having "FAIL!" right in your face, taunting you. The rage I felt as a kid with this game...
Straight up amazing. My sister and I played the absolute hell out of this game as kids and I've still never seen some of these levels, the last one we unlocked was Dragon Drop. That difficulty was so unfair that we never even got close to 200%
Oh. My. God... This has to be the *GREATEST* TAS in Crash Bash history! Never expected to see the AI being bullied, humiliated and reduced to oblivion lmaooo There were so many flexes as well, loved it! The narrator should have added 'BRUTALITY' after every "Kong/You win(s)" xD Great work!

So much shit jammed into this game that even doing a TAS, the theoretical perfect run, takes 5+ hours. Jim Caddick, we salute you and the sacrifice of ~20 hours of your life to get this twice.

8 minutes to complete the pinball minigame, 2 for the polar bear one. And about 1 minute and 30 second of that were loading times and downtime between rounds.

Well when items, like wumpa or bombs, spawn on top of a placed mine, it instantly sets it off. Probably to avoid overlapping of items.

Also the ending is possible outside of TAS, using Memory Manipulation in the save file name screen (it's a long story) you can do some funky things.
I changed the music to the credits music, made the background spin really fast, and made the bossfight insta win so we could watch the final cutscene without having to beat Oxide again.
Well done! Such a great job. I can't believe, it took 6 months, you must have a great passion and patience.

It was a passion project and Im glad I did it while I had the time. Its fun to go back to and watch snippets of from time to time, and it helped show the Bash speedrun community what was possible.

@@nasdxq after exiting a Polar push level, youll notice that youre stuck in place and cant move for just under a second. If you kick just before you can start moving again, and then start moving, youll carry the kick into your movement. Hope this makes sense! Works for all characters, Crash and Coco spin having the weirdest effect.
@@craigelbagel0012 Ah wicked! Never knew that! I’ve seen the AI (Tiny, Kong, Brio & Cortex) do this slide whilst pressing the kick button on crate crush a few times. Any idea how they do that on the crate crush levels?

Fun fact, the Platinum Relic AI was set to be nearly perfect. Almost on TAS level. Which makes it all the more satisfying to see a TAS destroy this.
Still wish they'd remake the game so I could play against people online though.
Plat AI are programmed to be very difficult and make little mistakes, also they have higher health, move faster in dash and medieval, overall really unfair.
@@craigelbagel0012 Amazed they didn't speed them up in the ballistic sections too...
Also I don't know if it was me, but they seem to deal more damage in the tanks too.
@@DarkFrozenDepths They might be sped up actually, although cant tell. I think they do deal more damage in tanks comapred to the trophy definitely. Theres just a lot of unfairness which makes it twice as hard as it already is.
@@craigelbagel0012 Not surprised if there's a thread or something out there that did document every single change between each challenge.
But yeah, the Relics are pretty brutal normally as well as some crystals and gems. Trophies aren't much of an issue, but getting to some stages was the hassle.
