He's just having a nice flight in his flying...pod...thing, them suddenly some sparkling blue crackhead comes outta nowhere and nearly kills him, and the rest of the game is just him now believing he needs to defend himself from a horrifying creature that runs at supersonic speeds, phases through solid matter, and walks on air.

I did an unoptimized Sonic 1 Any% TAS in 09.20 IGT. 100% in 16.42 is very good :) I love the jump strats in the special stages, I never knew about that. Nice job.
My fav part of this TAS is the love clearly put into it. All the lil autoscroller moments you had fun with - ESPECIALLY the utter violation of SBZ3 and Final Zone hahaha. Awesome work!
I remember I could not pass Labyrinth Zone 3 for the life of me. I found out accidentally the tried and true 'Up Down Left Right A+C' and would skip it just so I could finish the game, lol. I would always drown before I would reach Robotnik. This was an epic run!

I've only ever played the second one, since that's the one I grew up with. It's insane how similar this one is, it seems like they just improved on the illusion of speed and really went hard with the music for the second.
Seeing Doctor Robotnik get his shit kicked in in Green Hill before he even had the chance to pull out the wrecking ball had me rolling. I'd be red in the face with anger and embarassment too if my floating death machine that probably cost millions of dollars to build was just effortlessly destroyed by a sparkling blue cannonball mere seconds after taking it out for the first time.
Great use of zips and precise platforming. One question I want to ask is about those weird special stage jumps. Sounds as if the TAS jumps ever frame keeping it from being effected by gravity? I’m curious.

Imagine being eggman: Sonic beats you, and you fly over to the next zone. 1 minute later and hes already there. In labyrinth, the only thing you see while waiting for sonic is a blue thing clipping through a wall.
