As a person who did a 200% attempt in my teenage years, I can confirm that the enemy A.I. is sentient and hellbent on making your life as inconvenient as humanly possible.
I think i only did it in co-op with a friend. The only minigame i remember being super tough is the balloon popping, other stuff was manageable or fun to do.
So this man has : -Completed Crash Bash - Completed Crash 4 - Got all of the Platinum Time Trial Relics in EVERY GAME THAT HAS THEM! Thank you Caddy! We appreciate the hard work you do for us, but this has to have aged you by 15 years!
i still cant believe he beat crash 4 by the way. i just gave up on that. and i beat crash bash to 200% twice in one month. crash 4 was just misery to try and complete, and funny enough, i think it killed the franchise again actually. well...either that or crash team rumble
Fun fact: You can actually achieve 201% in Crash Bash if you play the adventure mode with two players, the two of you must choose characters from the opposite side (for example: Crash and Cortex). Once you start the adventure and suffer reaching 200% a special cinematic will play which shows Aku Aku and Uka Uka arguing which side really won and as they can't decide it, the two players will play a crate crush minigame which "defines" the fate of the universe depending which side (player) won. I'm writing this from memory so I don't know how accurate I am on this one.
As far as I know, you only have to beat Oxide while in 2-player Mode with two characters on the opposite side so no worries, the Relics will not haunt you in this
Worst part? Caddy can't even attempt it. It's only in the NTSC versions of Crash Bash. You can't even switch to 1 player after you've started a 2 player file. It ALWAYS needs 2 players.

Fun fact about the AI for bosses in this game: Bosses slowly get easier and easier each time you fail, and the AI for N. Oxide is so cruel that top level speed runners always lose against Oxide twice on purpose before they even _attempt_ to fight him for real.
The stupid tank boss against Bart and Homer Simpson was just downright cruel and relentless in killing you. You have to destroy their mega tank and then kill both of them in their individual tanks... on one life. And if you lose... *DO IT AGAIN!!!* If only there were a checkpoint after the mega tank section like with Oxide Ride. That would have made it more fair.
Even though it wasn't a scripted joke. And is a very real thing. I do sort of love the fact that caddy goes from long hair to no hair in random times. Showing when he recorded each scene
For the embodiment of evil, Uka Uka has a sense of goodwill and fair play. When Aku Aku complains that the teams are uneven, Uka Uka allows him to take two villains. In Warped, Uka Uka tears Cortex a new one for failing him twice, and then accepts him back as his right hand because Cortex did destroy his prison.
@@SnakeMan448 Uka Uka is the type of villain who understands how important Theatrics are to good Villainy. If you play up the drama, you get intimidation. Intimidation grants power and control over your subordinates and destabilizes the confidence of your opponents. Further, he wants to not just beat Aku Aku, but break his spirit. Fighting with 3-on-1 odds is way too big a handicap in his favor for Uka Uka to even consider doubling down. No, he'll give Aku Aku's team two of his, not even his two weakest, so he can properly drive the point home and truly shatter his brother's pride.
I always found it funny that Aku Aku literally took the best two players that Uka Uka has. Uka Uka's team has a random monkee who not even his own mother likes, discount Tiny Tiger who can only throw boulders in predetermined locations, and two old men with guns. he took the strong Tiger who can jump around and probably grab you and break your neck before tossing you into another city, and the smart Dingo-Crocodile hybrid with a flamethrower. he responded to Uka Uka's kindness of evening the teams by stripping him of any hope of winning this competition.
I think the genuinely worst part about the relics is, they could *easily* have all been rolled into one challenge just like the usual time trial relics, with a better relic depending on how many wins in a row you got - 1 for sapphire, 2 for gold, 3 for platinum. That way, even if you *did* win twice before losing, at least the first time you're rewarded for getting that far. But no, you have to win twice in a row, *then* win three more times in a row. Because apparently we needed even more identical gameplay.
That is such a brilliant idea for implementing the relic challenges. I would have also added a special unlock if you went of your way for all the Relics,like unlocking Fake Crash or something like that
My thoughts exactly, also make the AI one step down from computer perfect, like at least one or two pretend mistakes and not buffing them making the computer perfect AI optional not required for 200% completion

Love how just like the Crash 4 video, there's visual development of Caddy losing his mind, this time his bags under his eyes getting bigger and bigger and him needing more crack.
I spent a while learning to speedrun DS3 a few years back. The "YOU DIED" text is literally designed to make you sit there helplessly and think about what you've done, and I don't think that lasts more than 4 seconds. Crash Bash having a "FAIL" pop up lasting about as long if not longer than a series designed to frustrate you is crazy.
Furthermore, the "You Died" is more to let the weight of your mistakes sink in, and to do better next time. The "FAIL" screen feels like it is actively mocking you, not just in its tone, but the sheer REDUNDANCY of having to see it after losing to the unbelievably rigged challenges of Crash Bash. Also the FAIL text is absolutely massive and takes up a third of the screen.
@@ArgumentiumI swear, the people at Universal Interactive and Eurocom must have been feeling very spiteful and vindictive when they made this game. I don't know what they were smoking to have made the game so painstakingly difficult, but it's genuinely terrifying how vicious the AI are in the rematches.
“You Died” screens in souls games usually are meant to emphasize how you fucked up and how you can hopefully learn from that mistake. Screens like the “FAIL” screen in Crash Bash just are meant to piss you off.

This crash bash video made me realize that since Caddy’s first video on the game, I’ve been watching his channel for over a decade, now that certainly makes me feel old .
The loading screen segments sumsup this better than anything. 1. 24:34 - Justo waiting an being patience to finish the Game. 2. 36:26 - Slowly falling to madness cause this seems to be a neverending tortures. 3. 1:03:40 - You are about to explode of how crazy the process of unlocking everything is 4. 1:32:02 - You absolutley decent to madness cause crash Bash asimilates You and devour your soul and mind You are the goat caddy
FUN FACT about KEG KABOOM: This minigame was meant to be completely diffierent. Even the Spyro 3's Crash Bash Demo (Debug Cheat Code) had a beta version of it in there. You were meant to jump around the arena and avoid the exploding barrels instead. Yeah it was a health bar minigame akin to crate crush levels. But due to absolute ABYSMAL A.I CPUs had, they had to scrap that idea. There was another idea where you were supposed to set the powder on fire and redirect it to your opponent to do damage, but this concept was too complicated.
its so weird how obvious it is that the devs thought "well we're not gonna code the CPUs to fight each other, they should gang up on the player" and though NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THAT
Ah the good old "screw the player" AI opponent, that's always so fun when you get nicked by 50 opponents in mario kart and have to restart the entire cup again just for *a dumb little 3 stars for competition*
It's worth mentioning that the 200% TAS of this game (tool assisted speedrun, which means using tools such as savestates and frame advance to optimise inputs for every single frame to perfection so you can beat the game as fast as theoretically possible) is FIVE HOURS AND TWENTY ONE MINUTES LONG. You literally can't beat the game any faster.
Props to caddicarus for always putting himself through HELL from getting all the platinum relics in EVERY crash game that has them and getting 106% on crash 4 AND 200% crash bash this guy is absolutely unstoppable.
The way Caddy looks in the "teacher" segments is similar to how a teacher feels throughout a term. 24:50 - Week 1 Day 1 35:50 - Week 1 Day 5 - Week 3 42:20 - Week 5 Day 3.2341 1:04:13 - Week 7 onwards 1:26:01 - Last day of Term (minus the naughty drawing, because that will get you fired). Seeing the work Caddy had done under his eyes to make it look like he had the dark circles forming one gets when they're lacking sleep (so...me, really), at first made me wonder if he was just falling short on his own sleep when he started putting this video together. But I realized it was intentional and part of the joke when the circles sporadically got darker in the final 3rd of the video. I also loved how the clothes he was wearing when he was on screen in his teacher persona gradually degraded and became more defaced the further into the video I got.

As someone who played through the game and beat it, it FORCES you to "git gud m8" in order to get to the later levels...which means if you're playing to get the levels available for multiplayer with friends, then you're going to CRUSH them because you know all the cheese strats in the game (like in that space level, hit them with a block when they're near a hole to drop them in).
Good point, and where as Mario Party has enough random stuff and strategy from the Board game section, no matter what there is a sense of "Fairness". In this, it's like having to go win an EVO tournament to unlock the characters and when it's time to play it as a party game, you 100-0 them with a 10 piece combo with no hope for them.

@KingOfGaymes Midoriya had become a Quickless Teacher at U.A. who lost contact with his High School Friends, and at the end received a Powered Up Armor to become a regular hero. ...Personally I would make Him have new friends, have a student with a clear personality like him, and have him have the armor be his side project, and now it something done maybe with the help of old cast friends, as to imply He is succeding at being a mentor, a hero in both ways due to his efforts, and the support of those in his life. The ending took a noose dive in presentation. Good idea, mid execution.

the only video game my parents both played while i was a child was Crash Bash, and they completed it together in 2-player adventure mode to 200%. i can’t explain it.
well i mean they 1. probably weren't marathoning it or anything like that and 2. were doing it together which will make almost any game at least somewhat enjoyable
It's not a Crash game, nor a Playstation game, but after seeing all the trouble Caddy goes through to complete these games...I really want to see him attempt the game that broke my completionist spirit. F-Zero GX is the hardest, cheatiest, and oddly, one of the most wildly exciting racing games I have ever played. Unlike Crash Bash, F-Zero GX is actually a very good game. It's just EXTREMELY difficult. I once spent four hours, FOUR HOURS, on a mission with a 40-SECOND TIME LIMIT, because the game didn't tell me that there was a trick I had to do at the end (if I could even make it that far) that wasn't required on easier difficulties! And there is at least one mission later on that's even harder! That was the mission that broke me. I finally completed it...and I didn't have the spirit to tackle the rest knowing it'd be even more painful. It just wasn't fun anymore at that point. Grand Prix was still fun, so I did that until I was burned out, and since then, I've lost my ability to play the game competently. It's just too tricky. I NEED to see a youtuber like Caddy try it.
The absolute war flashbacks I have when it comes to that level. It would frustrate me to tears especially doing the crystal, gem and relics. I remember trying to do a 200% challenge by myself back in the day and don't remember how far I got but that was one of the levels I dreaded having to do.
And that's why the stage encourages theft. When you lose your squares, steal someone else's lmao. Even funnier when you catch enemies with side rockets.
There is 1 good thing about playing Crash Bash in 2 player mode: If your characters are on opposing teams, after beating Oxide you and your friend have a fight to the death to determine which team wins.

I 200%ed this game back in 2015. I used Koala Kong like Caddy. N.Ballism platinum relic caused me to launch into my bed and then my fan fell on my head. I then lost complete control and launched it across my room smashing it into pieces. The year is 2024 and I have never returned to that game. It broke my soul. Play any other crash game. Any. Other. Crash. Game. Look at his eyes, look at them!
@@DamnZtarCrash 4 was good, just VERY demanding. At least you can feasibly do better at it over time and know why. But to be honest, even Boom Bang on DS, Twinsanity on Java mobile phones, and the GBA ports of Crash of the Titans and Mind over Mutant look more appealing.

Honestly, I think his 2012-2013 stuff still holds up in some areas, but there's been definite improvement over the years. I also think that Caddy went hog wild back in those days, pumping out video after video after video. I still miss his Tinker Time segments, those were a really cool look into promising games from that time.

I think Crash Bash is meant to have psycotic players taunt and trick others to play with them since "it's just a multiplayer party game!" unaware one of them has played this from the inside out for roughly 10 hours and will wipe the entire party out before they could even get a foot in the door

my sisters and i had Crash Bash as long as i could remember... and it wasn't until this day i learned there were two other Dot Dash tracks, another tank map, the mallet mini game, and The Platinum Relics... because we already had enough anxiety from just completing the 4 bosses. everytime you cut back to the whiteboard with all the math, i could feel the looming pressure of the unintentional Sisyphus Task you took upon yourself... its an absolute horror show.
As an idiot who speedruns Crash Bash and has gotten a 10:11:09 in 200% I cannot tell you how proud I am! Looking forward to this masterpiece Caddy, bless you. ❤

So when I was little, my older brother accidentally sat on our Bash disc one day while our cousin was over and we were playing other games (he thought it was his hat), leaving it broken with a single split running from the inner ring to the outer and making it completely unplayable for most of my life until I figured out emulation a few years back. After seeing the full picture here of what the game *did* have in store had it not broken... I'm going to consider it as whatever higher power is out there doing us a *huge* favour.
Been waiting years for a video like this 🤣🤣🤣 I clearly was a total masochist growing up because I really enjoyed this game. I guess there was something immensely fun about FAIL screens and screaming so loud my mother heard at every failed plat relic attempt. Yes, I did attempt to the 200% this game. Multiple times. The highest I ever got was 194%. Swamp Fox can die in a pit of fire. I still have nightmares about it on occasion. You're a trooper mate 👊🏾

Further, he wants to not just beat Aku Aku, but break his spirit. Fighting with 3-on-1 odds is way too big a handicap in his favor for Uka Uka to even consider doubling down. No, he'll give Aku Aku's team two of his, not even his two weakest, so he can properly drive the point home and truly shatter his brother's pride.

I always found it funny that Aku Aku literally took the best two players that Uka Uka has. Uka Uka's team has a random monkee who not even his own mother likes, discount Tiny Tiger who can only throw boulders in predetermined locations, and two old men with guns. he took the strong Tiger who can jump around and probably grab you and break your neck before tossing you into another city, and the smart Dingo-Crocodile hybrid with a flamethrower. he responded to Uka Uka's kindness of evening the teams by stripping him of any hope of winning this competition.
I think the genuinely worst part about the relics is, they could *easily* have all been rolled into one challenge just like the usual time trial relics, with a better relic depending on how many wins in a row you got - 1 for sapphire, 2 for gold, 3 for platinum. That way, even if you *did* win twice before losing, at least the first time you're rewarded for getting that far. But no, you have to win twice in a row, *then* win three more times in a row. Because apparently we needed even more identical gameplay.
That is such a brilliant idea for implementing the relic challenges. I would have also added a special unlock if you went of your way for all the Relics,like unlocking Fake Crash or something like that

I spent a while learning to speedrun DS3 a few years back. The "YOU DIED" text is literally designed to make you sit there helplessly and think about what you've done, and I don't think that lasts more than 4 seconds. Crash Bash having a "FAIL" pop up lasting about as long if not longer than a series designed to frustrate you is crazy.
Furthermore, the "You Died" is more to let the weight of your mistakes sink in, and to do better next time.
The "FAIL" screen feels like it is actively mocking you, not just in its tone, but the sheer REDUNDANCY of having to see it after losing to the unbelievably rigged challenges of Crash Bash. Also the FAIL text is absolutely massive and takes up a third of the screen.

I don't know what they were smoking to have made the game so painstakingly difficult, but it's genuinely terrifying how vicious the AI are in the rematches.
“You Died” screens in souls games usually are meant to emphasize how you fucked up and how you can hopefully learn from that mistake. Screens like the “FAIL” screen in Crash Bash just are meant to piss you off.

FUN FACT about KEG KABOOM: This minigame was meant to be completely diffierent. Even the Spyro 3's Crash Bash Demo (Debug Cheat Code) had a beta version of it in there.
You were meant to jump around the arena and avoid the exploding barrels instead. Yeah it was a health bar minigame akin to crate crush levels.
But due to absolute ABYSMAL A.I CPUs had, they had to scrap that idea.
There was another idea where you were supposed to set the powder on fire and redirect it to your opponent to do damage, but this concept was too complicated.

Seeing the work Caddy had done under his eyes to make it look like he had the dark circles forming one gets when they're lacking sleep (so...me, really), at first made me wonder if he was just falling short on his own sleep when he started putting this video together. But I realized it was intentional and part of the joke when the circles sporadically got darker in the final 3rd of the video. I also loved how the clothes he was wearing when he was on screen in his teacher persona gradually degraded and became more defaced the further into the video I got.

As someone who played through the game and beat it, it FORCES you to "git gud m8" in order to get to the later levels...which means if you're playing to get the levels available for multiplayer with friends, then you're going to CRUSH them because you know all the cheese strats in the game (like in that space level, hit them with a block when they're near a hole to drop them in).
Good point, and where as Mario Party has enough random stuff and strategy from the Board game section, no matter what there is a sense of "Fairness". In this, it's like having to go win an EVO tournament to unlock the characters and when it's time to play it as a party game, you 100-0 them with a 10 piece combo with no hope for them.

It's not a Crash game, nor a Playstation game, but after seeing all the trouble Caddy goes through to complete these games...I really want to see him attempt the game that broke my completionist spirit. F-Zero GX is the hardest, cheatiest, and oddly, one of the most wildly exciting racing games I have ever played. Unlike Crash Bash, F-Zero GX is actually a very good game. It's just EXTREMELY difficult.
I once spent four hours, FOUR HOURS, on a mission with a 40-SECOND TIME LIMIT, because the game didn't tell me that there was a trick I had to do at the end (if I could even make it that far) that wasn't required on easier difficulties! And there is at least one mission later on that's even harder!
That was the mission that broke me. I finally completed it...and I didn't have the spirit to tackle the rest knowing it'd be even more painful. It just wasn't fun anymore at that point. Grand Prix was still fun, so I did that until I was burned out, and since then, I've lost my ability to play the game competently. It's just too tricky.
I NEED to see a youtuber like Caddy try it.

I 200%ed this game back in 2015. I used Koala Kong like Caddy. N.Ballism platinum relic caused me to launch into my bed and then my fan fell on my head. I then lost complete control and launched it across my room smashing it into pieces. The year is 2024 and I have never returned to that game. It broke my soul. Play any other crash game. Any. Other. Crash. Game. Look at his eyes, look at them!

So when I was little, my older brother accidentally sat on our Bash disc one day while our cousin was over and we were playing other games (he thought it was his hat), leaving it broken with a single split running from the inner ring to the outer and making it completely unplayable for most of my life until I figured out emulation a few years back.
After seeing the full picture here of what the game *did* have in store had it not broken...

Been waiting years for a video like this 🤣🤣🤣 I clearly was a total masochist growing up because I really enjoyed this game. I guess there was something immensely fun about FAIL screens and screaming so loud my mother heard at every failed plat relic attempt. Yes, I did attempt to the 200% this game. Multiple times. The highest I ever got was 194%. Swamp Fox can die in a pit of fire. I still have nightmares about it on occasion. You're a trooper mate 👊🏾
