Well then - here we are, everyone. Caddicarus is FINALLY back in the first Caddicarus episode of 2021. I know it’s April, but as many of you already know, my PC problems have been unbelievable all year. So what better way to come back than with some of the worst games ever made? More specifically - worst Kinect games ever made? From Harry Potter to Star Wars and Sonic the Hedgehog to Steel Battalion - yes - we’re going to be going through a dumpload of Microsoft Kinect games for the Xbox 360, and looking at some of the worst Kinect games of all time. Which is weird, since despite all of the Kinect E3 cringe and Kinect reveal during the Project Natal release - and all of the lies surrounding Project Milo, Star Wars, Kinectimals and SO much more - the Kinect technology became a huge success for Microsoft, and is being continued to this day with Xbox One systems - even though the Xbox One reveal with always-on Kinect was one of the worst things Microsoft ever did. You’ve all seen the Crowbcat Kinect video, it’s called the dark age of Xbox for a reason.There may be some gems in there such as The Gunstringer review with Gunstringer gameplay and even the Kinect Sports review and Kinect Adventures review with Kinect Sports gameplay and Kinect Adventures gameplay - but then we have the other Xbox 360 Kinect games. Kinect Star Wars review with Kinect Star Wars gameplay. Kinect Disneyland Adventures review with Disneyland gameplay. Kinect Harry Potter review with Harry Potter Kinect gameplay. Sonic Free Riders review with Sonic Free Riders gameplay. Rise of Nightmares review with Rise of Nightmares gameplay. Hulk Hogan’s Main Event. Raving Rabbids. Toy Story Mania. Star Wars Kinect. Oh wait, I already said that one. JonTron did that one already, right? Anyway, don’t expect to see any walkthrough or guide especially for the more linear adventures like Rise of Nightmares - and don’t expect an Angry Joe rant with Angry Joe Kinect review videos - this is me, this is 17 Xbox games using awful motion controls, and all we have left is Galactic Dance Off. Granted, Just Dance is not very accurate. It basically uses a "hack" to allow more players than intended, since the original Wii version allowed 4 players and the Kinect itself is meant for 2 people max
Just Dance on 360 messing up the score system is quite common. Play Dance Central, it is way better. I like Just Dance too, it is fun to play with friends, but choose any version over the 360 one, since they use a controller/smartphone/joycon on the right hand and the game doesnt get all confused or the Xbox One version since the Kinect for Xbox One is intended to recognize 6 people
@@lordeilluminati I thought the whole draw of Just Dance was that it wasn't accurate so you didn't have to play for points and could just... dance.
At least most of the time I see people just flailing around and having a good time and doing just fine points-wise.

Defunctland was working on that to a certain degree. There's a few VR recreations avaliable already from them but they're still in development.

Splash mountain is closing and its been preserved via Disneyland game.
Why I'm surprised Disney hasn't done a VR remake of adventures in the magical kingdom yet. Your character literally moves around a Disney theme park. It even has the Tom Sawyer ride.
@@yoda908 yeah, this is easy money for them, imagine if they did a park simulator but it was separated into "eras" so the park doesn't get fractured or crowded with rides that got re-themed/remodeled

Caddy may very well be one of the only people if not the only PERSON to make consistently brilliant feature film length videos!!! I can listen to his hour long videos all the way through and love every single part of them. His commentary is funny enough but his jokes and voices he puts on are the icing on the cake.☺️

That gun stringer game is the first time I've seen an actually creative use of the kinect that added to the experience instead of basically being "just play any other video game but in the most inconvenient and buggy way possible"
If it was ported to work with traditional VR or motion controls, it could actually be very popular. The problem is the system it's on (particularly the required peripheral) has a reputation for being bad

Indeed. It's like one of the only ones where not using a controller actually makes sense, especially seeing in built gyro wasn't very popular yet.
I suspect a large part of the problem is that the Kinect is designed for middle-class American living rooms that are basically a 30'x20' hall with a couch and TV in the middle and some track lighting, whereas a British living room is a gloomy shoebox stuffed with furniture that you can just about squeeze into if you're not too large.
When it tells you to step forward and then tells you you're too close, it's because it expects you to be about five feet further away in the first place, but that would put you into the hall or possibly your neighbour's house.
No it’s actually the games that don’t work, the Kinect is actually a pretty good full body tracking camera and people use it in VR CHAT.
@@mega_bird700 no no OC is also correct. The kinect was made for a much larger space.
Same problem exists for VR and EVERY version of Excersise games

Ironic given the Kinect's trademark game (Kinect Sports), was made by the UK studio, Rare. I suppose that's why it was the only game that really worked for Caddy all throughout (even if I agree that there was plenty of shovelware for Kinect as well).
@@deemcgann1695 it could easily be both. The Kinect could very likely be made for bigger homes with better lighting and the developers of many Kinect games not knowing how to use the tech properly.

The best part of this is when you use the Kinect in VRChat for a cheap Full Body Tracking set. The camera isn't awful, it's 100% the games' faults.

Yeah. Somehow, I much prefer this caddy. And to be honest, if he's doing videos like this, I'm glad he scrapped the "slaughter or salvage" mechanic, since in videos where he goes over several games in a certain category, stopping to slaughter/salvage whatever game he's on wouldn't do good for the pacing.
Recently, the algorithm has been favoring either really short videos or really long videos, so he's definitely in the right spot!

Random fun-ish fact: Both Kinect Rush and Kinect Disneyland Adventures were actually ported to Xbox 1 and PC, but with traditional button controls and with the Kinect name yoinked off. So if you want to deal with Michelangelo Mus-musculus's shenanigans but do not want to PUMP, you can just mash buttons and do stuff normally which is cool I think.

A VR theme park has amazing potential, especially disneyland. You can go on simulations of past and current rides, travel around the park in your preferred conditions, learn history and trivia as you go along, even look at souvenirs and menu items as a form of advertisement. Basically, anything other than what kinect did.

Yeah...but I still love the idea of having the *actual* Disney characters walking around the park (as opposed to the cast members in costumes); it’s why I love playing Disney Magic Kingdoms.

Actually, a youtuber called Defunctland is doing this very thing. He somewhat recently showed off a small piece of the project that they have completed for the old 20,000 leagues under the sea ride as a 360° / VR video

My old 360 Elite drive was getting stuck but after forcing it open and carefully cleaning the mechanism with alcohol & cotton buds it now works great.

The Kinect was built for a middle class American family's living room, not a British living room. He's also not playing in the correct lighting conditions, AND to top it all off, the Kinect games are just not very good because nobody could be bothered to learn how it worked

I played the Wii version of Toy Story Mania and you just used the remote to point and shoot. Its a port of the actual ride "Toy Story Mania" with the same graphics and audio. A cute idea for those who love the ride, but its honestly boring as just a game.
it's also just a Disney ride ported over to other platforms, I would know because I actually went on that ride about 7 years ago

@@chaoscrow27 To be fair, when taken at face-value with no idea of who the actor is, it can come off as uncanny since you'll always compare it to the original. It also did kinda sound odd in the game, in my opinion. It might be that Tom Kane just didn't have his heart in it for Star Wars Kinect.

Every Star Wars Kinect review is the same. Bring up the bad lightsaber combat, mock Clone Wars Yoda, act like Rancor Rampage is the most traumatic thing to ever be in a video game, and admit that the dancing is fun.

@Joseph Davis Yeah, I went there a couple years ago. Having not been to Tokyo Disneyland, I'd still recommend it over DisneySea (Which was just "alright" and you really shouldn't leave a theme park feeling like you should've spent your day somewhere better). Lots of really cool themed areas to walk around in like Agrabah, Atlantica, or the aforementioned Toy Story one, but the rides themselves are pretty lackluster.

It’s even funnier because you can use the Kinect for full body motion tracking for VR as well.. I just learned this recently as a cheap method for VRChat lol.
@@casedistorted you can also use it for full vr tracking. Don't though, the roomscale movement tracking sorta works, but the hand tracking just doesn't even with like joycons to help it abit.
