Enough people, in fact, that I've decided that I am going to get a new bottle of it. It's conceivable that I bought a bad bottle of it or it was from a bad lot. I would be glad to, in order to reap some of those great results! Thanks!
Interesting to see, was looking to see how many regular washes the Seal N Shine would last. I usually use one of those absorber towels to dry the car off, wonder if that may effect the coating at all also, wearing it away? I live right on the ocean and the seagulls are horrible, Seal N Shine is working well to just rinse off the crap if I'm in a rush and can't do a full wash.
Tim, the towel dry off would definitely add to the abrasion. I typically dry off with a real simple (non-coating/wax based) quick detailer like the original pink Adam's one. It helps keep lubricity going as you dry. For my tests I'm really just trying to keep a simple benchmark for abrasion resistance so products could be compared back to back. I'm not necessarily simulating a full wash, there are so many other things that happen in real life, bugs, etching from rain, etc..
Yeah I think the Adams would be seen more as a maintenance product for there paste waxes a topper after a wash for a quick hit of extreme gloss on an already protected car if that makes sense? Seal and shine.. I don't like the finish it leaves and though chemical resistant how long it lasts on a car left outside isn't as great as most people would think from the chemical resistance tests most people seem to like(they provide limited real world information you wash test is way more valuable as a longevity test that can be done quickly). Good tests.
Thanks Bryan, I agree with what you're saying. I would use the Adam's as a detailer if it were a little cheaper, maybe if they come out with a 5 gallon refill :). I think it is basically just a quick topper, not a true "spray wax". Looks shiny though! Turtle Wax is SnS is still a good product, it's very cheap and provides a lot of longevity for the price, but there are better products. It is very easy though!
i have the tw seal n shine and the wax. i prefer the durability more than the feel of slickness, even though, yes tw is glossy looking. Both products combined together, and a great team set up.
A big thankyou from the UK for this test, I like the way you performed it. We can only buy the original formula TW and I put it over Meguiars Ultimate Polish, it definitely reduced the gloss but had good durability. Any thoughts why the gloss went down please? Stay healthy 👍
Philip, thank you for watching! The thing about TW S&S is that it's not very thick, so if you're looking for a deep wet look it's not going to really do that. Actual gloss as measured may not go down, but if the polish you used had some resins or other glaze characteristics (which it sort of indicates it does) it may have been wiped away in the application of the TW. Some things dont layer well due to solvents for example.
You have great content and I appreciate your honest opinions, not many you tubers go out on a limb to provide constructive opinions. One question, do you think TW gloss/appearance would improve if topped with the TW ice spray wax?
Thanks Alex, really appreciate your kind words! It is possible that the Ice Spray could help, but it would have to be tested. I do plan to test toppers and combinations in the future. Most likely dedicated toppers first and combinations in the future after.
The panel is a little less glossy than the hood. However it is much harder to get consistent results on the hood because its a curved surface. So its very hard to get accurate measurements over and over.
If you're talking about visually detecting *just* gloss, not overall visual quality of the wax, on a highly polished surface it can be hard to notice a few GU. I would say 5-7 is more realistic than 3. On a low polish surface, a few GU can be very noticable. Of course depends on vision, lighting conditions, etc...
Despite what his tests showed on that test panel, I have used Ice Seal n Shine improved formula and it definitely made the paint of the car more glossy than unprotected paint. Not as glossy as a carnauba wax, but definitely more glossy. It also made the metal flakes in the paint of a 21 year old truck stand out much more. In the end, I kind of liked the fact that the metal flakes stood out more than the wet glossy look that a carnauba wax gave the truck.
Good question, yes you can use the towel again. Just wash it like you would machine wash any microfiber towels. Washing microfiber towels is actually super simple; Just set the machine to a warm water setting and when clean tumble dry on low heat. No fancy chemicals needed, in fact make sure your detergent is the really simple kind, like Tide powder or liquid without any added chemicals. You don't want it to have any softeners, color boosters, bleach, etc... For example softeners are fine on your clothes as they make the clothes feel softer to your skin, but it's bad for towels (even bath and kitchen towels!) because it coats the cloth almost like a wax. They feel soft from the coating, but they can't absorb water well. Super simple stuff.
Great Test! Again, with real world based testing a lot of these chemically resistant spray products show that they're not actually that druable when washed in a more normal way. Add in that you would have some dirt and contamination on the paint between those washes and a 21 wash figure drops even farther. This lines up with my real world testing of spray products that didn't even make it 2 months on my hood once the heat and pollen came out in spring, where as the old school paste waxes were still going strong.
Thanks for watching and the thoughtful comment! I agree with what you’re saying, it’s very much my experience too. Random chemicals in other tests IMO don’t represent reality.
Great review! Thanks for the effort you put in to produce these videos. It seems like you're a gloss guy like me 😁. You should definitely do a review of Polish Angel High Gloss vs. The Adams Graphene spray coating. High Gloss has a high concentration of titanium. It would be very interesting to see the results. My bet is on the Polish Angel product taking the win.
@@JTBlair-nw6gb to each their own my friend. I like Polish Angel, alot, but in my opinion their products are usually superior, just not enough to justify their crazy prices. If price was completely irrelevant, I'd use a lot more of them. Have you used Cosmic Spritz with the color matching? Thinking of trying it next..
I don't think I've tried that graphene, but the seal & shine is a great product. Ultimately if you're not seeing much improvement from the graphene the seal n shine should be great on its own.
That is a good question. The answer is yes, because paints will have different clear-coat thicknesses, base colors, metallic paint, different quality of polish, etc…

Can you do adams spray wax vs chemical guys? I'm thinking chemical guys because it's a different color than the adams which their spray wax is the same color as their detail spray and I worry I would mix them up in my detail sprayer
I have not tried the ice wax, but the seal and shine on its own is very good. I would question putting a liquid wax on top of a spray as it is likely to have solvents that will mess with the spray.
I don't really see why would you edit the clip in the middle water sheeting after a wash and show us a flat panel and talk about how its gone!!?? also don't you think you should show the deferent in gloss (gloss measurements) from the panel it self instead of glass table ? because the product designed to bond with clear coat not a glass!?
Thanks for watching my video and commenting! In the durability test I'm specifically comparing to the control surface for hydrophobic qualities and determining if I would consider it failed if this were my vehicle, i.e. I would re-apply wax/coating/etc... Sheeting is happening the same as the control surface, the hood gets polished before every test, so it is very slick already and water will sheet on it. What did go away is any beading. The reason I test gloss on the test panel instead of the test hood is for consistency. Unfortunately gloss meters are flat and car panels are actually curved. It is surprisingly hard to use a gloss meter on a car panel. You get wildly different results every time you measure. The glass panel on the other hand gives the most consistent results. I don't believe this makes any difference since most products can be used on glass and we're only testing gloss, not durability, slickness or other factors. We're just looking at how the wax affects light here.
I'm sure it would hold up indefinitely if you kept spraying it. You'd eventually want to strip it off chemically and claybar to remove debris. Maybe a polish for swirls over time. But if you didn't care about contamination and swirls yea I suppose it could go forever.
@@DmitrysGarage Thanks for the reply. I rejuvinate with the wet wax to make things easy and fast every time I wash, but sometimes I go a month or 2 without a wash. Don't care too much about contamination yet, water spots is the bigger issue. Need a product that keeps spots away between washes.
I think this is fine in the short term. As far as water spots, some waxes handle them better than others. For example wolfgang and jescar don't etch much. You can wipe the water spots off pretty easy. Some ceramics can be prone to etching :-/.
Shoot me a link, but gloss rating is essentially the underlying paint + however the wax affected it. So if their underlying paint was glossier or duller it would have a different rating than mine. You're not measuring the gloss of the wax, it's the gloss of the substrate after the wax is applied. I also noticed some reviewers are using their gloss meters in the wrong setting, for example I've seen Apex use it in semi-gloss setting instead of gloss setting.
That is possible. Ive found most products work better with multiple coats. For the purposes of testing they’re all getting one coat unless its required by the mfg. requiring multiple coats would ding an mfg for ease of use if it was in a spray category. The whole point of sprays is that they’re super easy. That being said the turtle wax is excellent!
@@DmitrysGarage can you tell me why some products can fail a chemical tests or a wash test badly. But in the real world, it would last half a year or more
Well chemical tests in my opinion arent very valuable as you generally wouldn’t put those chemicals on paint unless trying to remove wax. Wash tests may use different shampoos. When I checked three different Adams shampoos only one (the one I test with) was actually pH neutral and didnt strip wax as quick as the others. Real life tests? Well what IS real life? My mustang is a real life car and a wax like Wolfgang DH3 can last for well over a year. The car only gets washed a couple of times a year as its a garage queen. A daily driver that is washed weekly in harsh conditions may fail in months. For instance I saw a video on the Griots 3-1 ceramic that claimed 6mo+ but the person testing only did touchless washes and went as long as 8 weeks without washing. So what are the parameters of your real life? Some peoples real life is running cars through gas station brushed carwashes.
@@DmitrysGarage real life as in on a daily driver. I also have a 17 Mustang. I put Hydroslick on it last November... I top it every 2 weeks when i wash it with Xpress spray wax. You’re comparing apples to oranges the turtle wax seal and shine is a paint sealant the Adams it’s just a wax topper you have to apply turtle wax spray on top of Seal and shine to get the gloss and slickness that you’re looking for.. Adams wax did not hold up because it’s not a sealer it’s a topper.
Thanks for watching! Keep in mind im comparing a larger database of products than just these two. My site is linked in the description. Also Adams does not indicate their product is a topper. They specifically say you can use it on its own.
You're putting on the turtle Wax seal and shine the wrong way Spray it on an applicator pad and put it on in a circular motion. That's why you are getting uneven results.. and you will get a better shine and durability

@@DmitrysGarage great! Thanks. I just saw some other video that ice wax is a good maintenance on top of seal n shine as they complement each other
Great test!
Thanks Tim!
I like the wash counter. Maybe you could rejuvenate the turtle wax side and see if it will hold up forever if rejuvenated every 5 washes or something.
@@DmitrysGarage I'm gonna look into Wolfgang, thanks
I'm seen the Turtle Wax test out on your gloss test, 92 + 93 on other channels I think two of them
Shoot me a link, but gloss rating is essentially the underlying paint + however the wax affected it.
Thanks for the great video!
Appreciate you watching!
seal and shine ice VS turtle wax ceramic spray
Have you tried 3D express wax ?
I haven’t tried that particular 3D product but its going on my list :)
Good stuff man 👌
Thanks Isaias, appreciate you watching and commenting!
Would have been more comparable to compare the turtle wax to Adam’s guard and gloss.
Nice job !
Thanks!
Hi great video ten for car wash five for microfiber cloth ten for tw done God Bless.
if you put a 2nd coat of the turtle wax on, it could go 40+ washes.
Its still very hydrophobic. Its about 30% worn 10 months in... Ive seen a few youtuber say it wont last as advertised but i dont have any problems. It is driven like 3 times a week but it is keep under my porch
If i use seal and shine as a base coat what top coat would u recommend?
Did the new formula of the turtle wax smell like flea medication for dogs ? Thanks for the videos .
Lomas, I thought it smelled like berry punch or similar. Dont have flea meds though! Thanks for watching!
thanks honest review.
My pleasure Sham, appreciate you watching!
Thank you, greetings from Israel.
Thanks for watching Dmitry, I've never been to Israel, but hopefully some day :)
For the price you just can't beat TW.
It's definitely good stuff, thanks for watching Chris!
Hey belated birthday....the first time sceen Adams i i thought it was like knock of brand it was sale somewere....o how i was wrong lol
Thanks Aaron, appreciate it!!
Dmitry's Garage when was your birthday??? Mine was the 5th! I’m now 18yrs old...
@@henryfreeman6113 Mine was the 18th :), pretty close! I'm 35 though, feels like I'm getting old!
You're putting on the turtle Wax seal and shine the wrong way
Spray it on an applicator pad and put it on in a circular motion. That's why you are getting uneven results.. and you will get a better shine and durability
Something is not correct... I see 45 test whit new turtle wax seal and shine ... In All Adams is always in the last 5 and always TW is First ... Something is Wroong ...
Not sure what you mean. Adam's makes dozens of products. In this specific video the Turtle Wax did better than the Adams. Which product are you comparing?
