    Huge shout-out to PapaSmurf918, I was in his livestream when the team mentioned that the new Seal N Shine was out, check out Smurf's channel here if you haven't seen his detailing reviews, he's putting out some awesome content: ruclips.net/channel/UCigTU54-70pjPdKqnP6Boog
    Shout-out to ONR Detailing News as well for getting the news out to everyone of the update, Turtle Wax let this one slide underneath the radar so I was not aware any update was on the way, check out ONR's channel here: ruclips.net/channel/UC14887mDbipJELcmU1ke8fg
    I grabbed this new Seal N Shine at Advance Auto the other day for $12, the new formula will have the Improved Formula yellow tag on the top of the label. Let me know what you guys think down below, and what are your favorite products that you like to use to maintain Seal N Shine? I still prefer ICE Spray Wax for maintenance on top, but I would love to hear what products are working for you!

      Seal N Shine and Ice Spray Wax will get you a long way. I'd run that combination until you run out of Seal N Shine, then switch over to the HS Ceramic Spray Coating and pick up Ceramic Wet Wax for maintenance. Great combos that get the job done. Don't fall into the trap like me and grabbing everything that comes out, I'm an addict with a serious problem!

      John, I am in the same situation. I tried other wax and then went with ICE Spray Wax, which was great. I then started using the HS Ceramic Coating Wax which I don't like the effort it takes to apply and wipe off. The HS Ceramic Coating Wax leaves a haze which I use a damp cloth to wipe off.
      I am going to get the new formula of ICE Spray Wax and Detailer.

    I think TW upgraded SNS, to stay king of the hill. SNS became the benchmark against what all other sealants and I've seen coatings as well are tested against. TW has a huge reputation to protect, they want to be the leader, not among the leaders, or a fast follower. Keep on eye on TW, I'm sure there's more great things to come.

    • @jimmyqballs
      @jimmyqballs 4 года назад

      @@WaxMode I absolutely will. If anything, I'll apply one of each to each side of the car, and just see after a few months how each is holding up. But like you said, application is so important. I personally stay away from damp towels to remove the high spots. Even though they are unsightly, I find that any moisture will really impact the longevity of this, and prefer to just wait a few days then wash the car which knocks down the high spots and still gives me a proper cure. Sandro from Car Craft Detailing found the same thing in his testing in regards to moisture during the cure cycle affecting it's performance. It's hard to tell if that level of chemical resistance is for show, or if we'll get say another 1-3 months of protection out of it. The time is more important than chemical resistance to me, since I don't really drive in any conditions that warrant needing that, and if I did I'd go ceramic coating all the way lol

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +3

      I'm going to laugh if I find out the only difference is the scent, and it's my shelf life on the original bottle that's making up the difference in performance with the Strip Down test. Haha could you imagine! I like the refresh, the smell was the weirdest thing about the original Seal N Shine when I first got my hands on it because they just carried over that fragrance from the Express Shine Carnauba Spray Cleaner Spray Wax, instead of putting their ICE spin on it from the beginning, so I like this grape style smell better.
      What I'm not sure about is the extent of the SiO2 content, because if I'm not mistaken, the bottles that they sent up to the Canadian market listed SiO2 on the front of those with the first formula. And I can't remember if Turtle Wax touched on that topic at the Test Drive event. You'll have to let me know what you think if you pick this new one up.

    Thanks again Waxmode for another terrific video! Thank God they changed the scent. Some people were throwing it away just because it smelled like 1970s bug spray. The new resistance is really great. Nobody can deny that. You said chemical resistance properties is not the be all end all for you. I agree. However, I know your be all end all is hydrophobics/beading. For me, it’s how the car looks and so far, I still like the look Hybrid Solutions Spray Coating and Wet Wax are giving me. I have put many coats of Wet Wax on my car and 4 coats of Spray Coating in maybe 3 months. Incredibly, the car seems to get a little deeper and darker every time I put either one of the Hybrid Solutions waxes on it. I have a Ruby Red 2018 Mustang and it looks the best it’s ever looked with these Hybrid Solutions products. I don’t give either one of the Hybrid Solutions products time enough to find out how durable they are. I wash my car every 3 to 4 days with Optimum No Rinse and wax while I dry with Wet Wax every time. I may try the new Seal N Shine some time in the future though since I won’t need a gas mask to use it! LOL! Thanks again for the demo of the new SNS.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +1

      Appreciate the comment as always Robert! That Ruby Red looks absolutely insane, every time my neighbor pulls his Mustang out to wash it I'm just in awe of that gloss and how much it pops in the sun. There are a lot of guys on the detailing forums that are loving the Ceramic Spray Coating and Ceramic Wet Wax combo, Turtle Wax did a great job on that duo. I'm digging the new scent for Seal N Shine, I was a bit disappointed to see they carried over the scent from the Express Shine Spray Wax on the first formula of Seal N Shine when I first got my hands on it, and so I think this change was a needed one to better align the spray sealant with the rest of the ICE lineup.

    Man, I’ll let the super hydrophobic claim slide just because the product delivers everywhere else. Seems like a great bang for buck protectant. You just can’t hate turtlewax, they seem to really want to make something good for the consumer and not take the piss. Granted, this is not the type of product that I’m personally interested in, but I’d definitely recommend it to friends who aren’t crazy bead addicts like myself and just want a great value, long lasting and chemical resistant protectant that’s relatively easy to apply. Keep the product news comin’!👍🏼

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +1

      Exactly Andres, I’ll let them slide on that one, superhydrophobic is water beading that has above a 150 degree contact angle, and no detailing product comes close to that so far. I agree with you, it’s an easy to recommend valued-based protectant that a lot of people will enjoy.

    • @groundcontrol6876
      @groundcontrol6876 4 года назад +1

      WaxMode Yeah, I doubt we have the tech yet to make consumer-grade products that have such ridiculously high surface tension without sacrificing the surface being clear and glossy. The only way that I know of to get to those numbers is to texture the surface. I’d like to start seeing maintenance toppers that can make 120* beads. That would be THE gamechanger for me. I don’t even care if it only lasts a few weeks.

    Hi Waxmode.
    When i had my first bottle of seal and shine last year, i applied it heavy, like u did at the end of this video on a black civic.
    And of course the streaking was so bad to the point of embarrassing me when i park the car under full mid day sunlight.
    The streaking was that horrible, even after i try to level it out with a damp almost dripping wet towel.
    But...i have to say protection wise, this product is absolutely beast and god like, almost on par with the protection that fusso coat provide, which for me is the best for a non coating category.
    Not to mention the price point, i bet no one in this world will ever consider this stuff expensive.
    For the looks of this product, i found out that on the first application, it will disappoint u, because it will streak and made the paint look a lil bit foggy on dark paint, and there's just nothing u can do to make it look
    better.
    But once u drive the car couple of days, after the product fully cured by sunlight, and especially after the first car wash, then the shine and gloss of this product on the panel will finally make u smile.
    And not to mention it bead and sheet water like crazy when i wash the car.
    After using and trying lots of detailing products, i've come to a conclusion that, if a product is hard to apply or tends to streak badly after wipe off, then most of the time the product will last long on the panel/protect longer, and the easier a product to apply or wipe off, then usually it will degrade/faded quicker on the panel.
    Just like seal and shine, sonax BSD is another product that streak badly, but hv a great protection and crazy water behavior.
    While some boutique wax like the pinnacle souveran, is just super duper fun and super effortless to apply and wipe off perfectly clean everytime, but maybe will vanish completely from the panel after just 2 or 3 car wash with a dedicated ph neutral car soap.
    I find that most of the meguiars product, provide the win win solution, relative easy application and wipe off, while still have some decent protection and durability on the panel.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +1

      Great comment JE2F! You're right, eventually that streaking will level out. Brilliant Shine Detailer is absolutely insane, the performance on top of the coatings is unreal. We've been getting absolutely blasted with rain and the rain itself will practically wash the paint clean, crazy beading. I'm loving the Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic lineup, Hybrid Ceramic Detailer is such a good product, one of my new favorites.

      Ok...sooo for those of us who won't be spending 6 hours doing a paint correction polish - a couple of hours with a thorough washing/claybar and providing the paint is reasonably prepped - (as a weekend driveway warrior) i see (and use) S&S as a terrific 1-step product that even with the (what? 15-20 minute damp towel wipe-down finish) provides a terrific final or base coat for future wax applications. As stated (and as with most ALL TW products) a little can go a very long way. I feel that when applied and used properly this product offers a value and protection/shine to time spent ratio that at the very least most serious amateur detailers will find very hard to beat. I believe they reformulated it based on the original's popularity. It was an absolute home run for the company and Seal n Shine has had somewhat of a cult following on RUclips and with your mainstream consumer's who love to detail their vehicles as a hobby like myself. Even though TW said Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray coating was supposed to be the much improved version of Seal n Shine, they figured why not listen to what the consumers complained about (scent) and make it better and even more durable than before to continue its cult following and its popularity. I actually believe that with a 2 application method with a 24 hour cure for each application of both New Seal n Shine and TW Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray coating they are going to have identical chemical resistance with the Hybrid solutions having better gloss readings. Heck Seal n shine might even end up stronger in the end! And for 12$ its the same price as Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray which i don't understand. I actually believe that Walmart will sell it for under 10$.

      I think that heaviness of Seal N Shine has a lot to do with just how aggressive it is when combating aggressive chemicals and cleaners. I would guess that if they were able to get the blend to a point to where it's wiping off super cleanly without the potential for streaking, we wouldn't be seeing the same type of chemical resistance properties out of it. Thanks so much Dan, good to hear from you as always! I can definitely see Seal N Shine reducing the finish a bit on polished paint, it's very difficult to wipe it cleanly even when using it sparingly without that damp microfiber assist. The gloss measurements do bump up considerably after the damp microfiber wipe or after the wash with Reset. I was at 96.0GU after polishing with Sonax Perfect Finish and the Prep-All panel wipe, then Seal N Shine brought us down to the 94.3GU range, and then washing with Reset brought the numbers back up to 95.8GU.

    I agree with other comments that Seal N Shine is a good consumer level product that is cheap and lasts a long time. Most of my customers really value appearance and Seal N Shine is below average in the appearance category plus it attracts dust in windy environments. I find that it won’t release dust even while driving. For detailers it’s a decent product to use on wheels when a customer doesn’t want to pay for a true Si02 wheel coating because it applies quickly and has excellent resistance to road film, snow melt and harsh chemicals.

    Hmmm.....I wonder if Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating isn't selling as well as they hoped, so they took a proven huge seller with established performance and decided to "add SiO2" to it to get the desired outcome (i.e. "sales") that they hoped for with HS Ceramic Spray Coating?

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +3

      Turtle Wax did mention at the Test Drive event that they are going to continue to come out with improvements on their products, and by updating Seal N Shine this quickly, this shows me that they mean business. Even on a product that I would assume is selling well, they're not afraid to make quick adjustments and change up the scent which was one of the biggest complaints that I heard, and even slightly change the blend to provide even better performance.
      I'm liking this direction a lot, Seal N Shine has built up its own massive following online, and I think Turtle Wax is catering to this group by making it an even better product. I would be interested to see how well the Hybrid Solutions line is selling, and I would say that a lot of people are not diving into the HS line because Seal N Shine was performing so well for them. But for me, I really like that 3 punch combo out of Ceramic Polish & Wax, Ceramic Spray Coating, and Ceramic Wet Wax. That is a fantastic system that is more attractive to me than Seal N Shine & Ice Spray Wax.

    After your recommendation, I've been using the green bottle wax&dry as a drying aid which helps significantly (Thanks!). Is the way&dry comparable to the two spray waxes shown in the background of this video?
    I am sold on the price and ease of use of the wax&dry, and wondering if I should give the spray wax or even the new hybrid solutions wet wax a try when I finish my bottle. I am using hybrid solutions ceramic spray also.
    Loving the videos man!

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +6

      Thanks Keith! You will love the Ceramic Wet Wax when you get through with your Wax & Dry bottle, that's what I would recommend grabbing next. A bit more protection and durability left behind compared to Wax & Dry, but still super easy to dry the paint off when using it wet.
      The Express Shine Carnauba Spray Wax is different than all of these other sprays. It has a bit more cleaners and bit to really cut through lighter oxidation and fading, some stubborn stains as well that the other sprays won't tackle through. Great for a lot of daily drivers for people that don't wash their paint all that often or are heavily involved in detailing. Because of that cleaning ability, I would not use that spray wax as a topper for any of the other products, it would knock them down a bit by using it on top of them.
      Ice Spray Wax is still one of my favorites for an all around spray maintenance topper for a variety of different products. Very decent durability left behind, easier to work with compared to Seal N Shine. Fantastic smell, but I would say if you're hooked on the Hybrid Solutions line, I would stick with those products instead of grabbing the ICE line. Ceramic Spray Coating paired with Ceramic Wet Wax is the perfect duo to complement each other.

    Interesting you used a gloss meter and saw a decrease in the reading. I've applied the original SNS two weekends in a row last month, and it definitely is lacking that "pop" on the paint to my eye. • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад

      The gloss jumped back up immediately after the first wash with Reset, but you're right that the immediate readings right after applying it to the paint will read lower compared to the polishing step. That's pretty normal for most products, but Seal N Shine's extra heaviness can possibly be muting the gloss a bit until the wash. I still like Ice Spray Wax after all of these years, it's still a great maintenance product.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +1

      Are you working with Opti-Seal? I'm a huge fan of the Opti-Seal style of sealants. Wolfgang Liquid Seal, Blackfire Crystal Seal, Meguiar's Ultimate Fash Finish, McKee's 37 10-Minute Sealant, some of my favorite types of products to work with just based on the way that they atomize onto the paint out of the spray nozzle. Super simple to work with, and they give such a clean wipeoff when buffing them into the paint. Very satisfying products to play around with, they don't have the craziest hydrophobic performance but the ease of use is very high up there and I love to use them after hours of paint correction.

    • @roadhouseguy
      @roadhouseguy 4 года назад

      WaxMode Yes Opti-Seal. I realised afterwards, I haven’t been using my detail arsenal in so long with the lockdown, I forgot some of the names!
      Yeah I have to agree, the performance and super ease of application and wipe off is unmatched by these types of sealants you mention. I love using it on my wheels, exhaust and other nooks and crannies, traditional sealants won’t get to. I’m impressed that I get months of longevity on the wheels, on my daily driver.
      I must note, I used it as spray and wipe off for a while as they suggested. But once I tried the process of traditional method of massaging it in paintwork, cross hatch, with an applicator like Yvon Lacross once illustrated the performance and hydrophobics have just gone up to full potential. It’s holding up so well now. I use the Optimum Wax as a drying aid, as Yvonne claims it is able to work in synergy and migrate under the Opti-Seal.
      I like that TW Wet Wax gives that boost to white paint and has no streaking vs Optimum Wax, so I’m keen to try TW Ceramic Spray Wax as my drying aid.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +1

      Hold on to CG Wipeout until the Prep-All gets in to see if you like Prep-All. Some guys are really put off by the solvent smell of Prep-All unless they're wearing a half mask like I am. CG Wipeout I haven't used, it's probably similar to Gyeon Prep or CarPro Eraser which are good for post-polishing removal of visible oils, but not effective for wax/sealant stripping of fresh products. Definitely keep me posted on how you like Prep-All though, it's such a smooth panel wipe to apply and buff into the paint!
      Meguiar's #34 is a high quality product, we used this heavily when I was working in the detailing center over a decade ago and it was great for claying and final wipedowns. The Power Lock and Collinite 845 combination should work out great. I actually always had great results using the Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax or Ultimate Quik Detailer on top of Power Lock, and they should also play well with Collinite 845.

      Try wiping off with a damp microfiber towel before the final buff. The oleophobic nature of this product should actually reduce the look of oils from your hands, it’s the same concept for why some phone screens are coated with an oleophobic coating, but it has to be fully leveled with the microfiber in order to achieve that, otherwise that top film layer itself will smear on you and likely attract dust. It won’t be a miracle product though, prints will still show especially on black but this should actually help combat just how bad the prints look.

    So let me ask u this, if you have a black metallic suv, what would u use to give a great wet look, and is easy to use, available local, maybe removes or diminishes swirls, etc.? Have been using Mequires ultimate paste, great product, but hard on the arm. Liquid one, not so much but paste looks better, Neither seem to last long maybe 2 to 3 months.

      I've been really enjoying the new Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Polish & Wax, leaves a great finish and has some cut to tackle some swirling. But you've got to use a damp microfiber towel after buffing it off and then follow up with a dry microfiber towel to get a clean wipeoff. With the damp microfiber towel, I can work in direct sunlight on hot black paint and have no issues. But that's going to be more work than Ultimate for sure, anything that you're using to try to tackle through paint swirls needs to be worked in a bit longer by hand or with the machine polisher.

      Thanks James, no they only make Power Lock as a liquid sealant, so that’s the trade off it will take more time to apply with a foam applicator or using the polisher compared to a spray and wipe application. But the enjoyment factor for me is much better, and the cleaner and super slick wipe off is why I would rather go with something like Power Lock above Seal N Shine with the way that I detail cars.

    You mentioned really preferring spray sealants that don't leave high spots and streaks. I've used Ice Seal and Shine, Ice Spray Wax, and Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Spray Wax, and CQuartz Reload on very dark paint. To me everything I've tried on dark paint streaks EXCEPT the Turtle Wax Ice Spray Wax. I'm wondering what other spray sealants/waxes you've tried and liked that wiped away cleanly with minimal effort.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +1

      Polish Angel Cosmic Spritz and High Gloss are two of my favorites, they wipe super clean for me but are just crazy expensive. I always had great success with Meguiar's Ultimate Fast Finish and the rest of the Optimum Opti-Seal style spray sealants in terms of how cleanly they buff into the paint. Bead Maker and Chemical Guys V7 wipe pretty cleanly for me as well. Some products can be a bit oily, leaving behind some residuals but not have a tendency to want to streak. But Seal N Shine and Reload are two that are heavy enough to cause color streaking and you may have issues getting them to level down well.

    • @craig.encinitas
      @craig.encinitas 4 года назад

      If a product gets streaky on me, I’ll spray it into a microfiber pad or towel and then apply it to the surface. Or I’ll follow it up with a damp microfiber towel.
      With Seal and Shine, my best results were achieved by spraying it into an applicator pad first. Too much streaking by following the instructions. Just my experience.

      I would avoid using it on hotter paint and I would not recommend it for CQuartz, it’s too heavy and you’re going to reduce the hydrophobic performance that CQuartz offers by topping it with Seal N Shine.

    I've had much better luck with Seal N Shine over the Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Wax. Unprepped Seal N Shine I get about 6 weeks. That's with washing everyday with an alkaline based soap. Hybrid ceramic I drove through 1 rain storm and where the road spray hit it was gone.

      Appreciate the feedback Matt. I'm still seeing very good performance out of the Ceramic Spray Coating in the durability tests so far, and we've been getting absolutely hammered by massive rains here in Florida on the daily drivers. I might set up a new batch and put this new Seal N Shine right next to the Ceramic Spray Coating to see how both hold up side by side in a long term test.

      Great question! Griot's Ceramic 3-in-1 Wax has perhaps had the best hydrophobic staying power out of all of the consumer spray sealants and ceramics that I've tested in the long term durability tests so far. That includes Meguiar's HCW, Seal N Shine, Ceramic Spray Coating, and Mothers CMX. Griot's has been a surprisingly good performing protectant.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +1

      You can use it wet, but I like to use it dry, and then follow up with the damp wipedown if I need it. It’s too heavy for my liking to use it as a drying aid so that’s why I don’t like using it wet, I’d rather use the Ice Spray Wax on top as a drying aid instead for maintenance.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад +1

      On the first application I would prefer to apply with the dry microfiber so that you get full 100% contact of Seal N Shine on the paint without dilution from the wet microfiber. Then use a damp towel for backup afterwards if needed, that way you get the best performance on direct contact for what Seal N Shine offers for the original application.

      Yeah the original smell reminded me of this baby powder air freshener that people would get when I was working at a detail center a while ago. I was a bit disappointed with it because this smell was carried over directly from the Express Shine Spray Wax which they list as a "pine" scent in the MSDS, and so it was a bit out of place that they would use that scent instead of something much more aligned to the fruity/tropical scent of the rest of the ICE lineup. This grape scent is much better, at least for me!

      Thanks John! I definitely want to grab a hold of some of their NSP products, I saw Brian at Apex did a great video of the line and they've got some really cool chemistry going on. I like the idea of a primer for the coatings to latch on to, rather than going straight on top of bare clearcoat. And I've played around with Essence and Gyeon Primer over the years but haven't focused down on any long term testing with them. Would be interesting to run a test with the Dr. Beasley line compared to how Essence and Primer works for the coatings, and whether or not a specific primer can really increase coating bonding and prolong durability.

    Is there any benefits to apply TW SNS on top of existing ceramic coating after maintenance wash?

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  3 года назад +1

      I would avoid topping with Seal N Shine on the coatings, the reason is because it’s a very heavy spray topper and so you could see a reduction in the performance of the coating once Seal N Shine is on top. That’s what I noticed after topping CQUK with SNS, eventually SNS will wear away but I would stick with a lighter and more compatible coating topper. Beadmaker and Meguiar’s Hybrid Ceramic Detailer were two that did really well with all of the CQuartz coatings I tested.

      BSD was durable for me up to 4 months. Seal N Shine should be able to get you there as well but they’re both very different from each other. We aren’t sure what kind of protective components are in BSD’s formula, the latest version of Seal N Shine had specific UV blockers added for increased UV protection. BSD is heavy enough where you could apply on top of Seal N Shine. BSD will also be more hydrophobic compared to Seal N Shine.

    • @WaxMode
      @WaxMode  4 года назад

      Hey Philip, the gloss levels between the two of these were very similar when reading from my glossmeter. Let me know if you see a bump up in the gloss after the next wash, this does bump the readings up for me after the wash to match the levels that I was getting after polishing the paint with Sonax Perfect Finish. So I know the gloss potential is very high for Seal N Shine, but the residuals left behind can possibly be reducing the noticeable gloss until they're washed off.
