    Both seal n shine and ceramic coating were fully cured for over 48 hours, with the exception of the far right side of the panel where stated instant sure.
    Will you be picking up the new hybrid solutions ceramic spray coating?

      Hey Jimbo, on my car parked outside in the elements, it feels like seal and shine breaks up after only a couple of weeks. Has this been your experience? I'm not sure if it's the UV's....I'd be very interested in seeing a test after 2 weeks of both products under the sun.

    Great video! Something to note - the Seal n Shine technically had two coats per its directions, whereas the Ceramic version would need a coat, 24 hr cure time, then another coat, then another 24 hrs to have the same number of applications. It could be argued that this test was two coats of Seal n Shine vs one of Ceramic. There are pros and cons to that, I guess.

    Here’s my recent review. I purchased this last year in June while at the auto parts store getting products to do a last minute detail on my mustang before autocross and car show on father’s day weekend. I did not properly apply because I was in a rush and I can tell you that wash was the last time I washed it until last week when it was time to bring it back out. Car sat in the elements the entire time as well as a few drives during the winter when the roads were clear enough. As I was washing the car I was confused as to why the water was beading so much and I had completely spaced that I used this hybrid ceramic spray that day last June. Bought the product as an “eh why not” and now it’s all I’ll ever use. Quick and is as well as offers great protection especially if properly applied. 10/10 - weekend warrior detailer

    I have used both TW products and very pleased with both of them. Seal and Shine came out before the ceramic coating and I was very pleased with how it worked on my truck. Granted the scent of Seal and Shine was not the best, reminded me of a hair product but it worked very well. Then I tried the ceramic spray coating and I kind of liked it better for the ease of application and the shine it left. In fact, I did a second coating the next day and I was blown away by the shine that it leaves on my truck. It really catches my eye when I go into the garage and look at my truck. I swear its glossier and has a wet look that lasts longer than I expect. Hands down for me, ceramic coating spray is the better of the two. Durability is a toss up between the two, they are both good, maybe it comes down to price of each product.

    After using both products extensively I can tell you one thing, the Turtle Wax Ceramic spray coating has way higher gloss and shine. And even more durability than seal & shine. Or at least the same. The self-cleaning properties in the Ceramic spray coating keep the vehicle much cleaner than the seal & shine when it's raining or snowing.

      Hey, Lien! We wanted to confirm prices! Our Hybrid Solutions is currently just under $16 on Amazon.com, while our ICE Seal N Shine is just under $10. We designed this product to compliment the fan-favorite ICE Seal N Shine and created it to solve some of the detailers’ pain points with SNS. The difference-makers in the Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray Coating product include:
      - Easy on, easy off product application even in direct sunlight & high humidity - amazing results on paint, metal, plastic & glass in minutes
      - Chemical resistant, but designed for real-world application so it lasts up to 12 months when applied per the directions on the bottle (cure time is important here - AND don’t apply your 2nd coat until after the first coat cured for 24 hours)
      - Increased depth of paint color, gloss & shine

      You absolutely cannot use Seal N Shine in the sun or else you will get streaks. It flash-dries on the surface so you literally can’t wipe it off. To fix the streaks, I waited until it cooled off, then reapplied the product on top of the streaky areas and it fixed it.

    To comment on a few things. I'd say I want water beading. It is a higher level of hydrophobicity. When a coating or sealant, etc, starts to degrade, it goes from beading to sheeting. So if we're already starting at sheeting, its hydrophobicity isn't as intense as it could be. And another thing, usually when rain water collects on a car, its as if you left distilled water or purified H2O on a panel that mostly doesnt leave any water spots. Since tap or hose water contains all the minerals and agents that we'd consider make up hard water, those agents dry and leave spots on the panel. Thats generally where water spots come from.
    Other than that cool video man I'm really loving this first person shooter angle. Its really working. Keep up the good work, Jimbo.

    • @nirfz
      @nirfz 4 года назад +2

      i think what he tried to describe with the "water spots" after rain is that even if you celaned your car the day before, there is going to be dust on it, when it rains you get spots where the water picked up the dust and then dried. At least they aren't going to do anything bad to the paint like lime does (i hope that is the right translation for the mineral in most hard tap water)

    • @gotahave
      @gotahave 10 дней назад

      What does rainwater contain? As a result of this process, rainwater is inherently dirty. It needs that condensation nucleus - that dust, soot, or flake of salt - in order to form and fall. This is precisely why you'll have probably noticed that, from time to time, the rain on your window leaves streaks of dust.

    Man this is a tough one but i will say i have a decent stock of S&S and it being a bit more elbow grease to keep the streaks away isn’t an issue for me because when using one towel for application and one for buffing its not that big of a deal, will still be picking up the ceramic coating for some certain areas I’d like to test, great comparison Jimbo
    Edit: I’d like to emphasize again the fact even turtle wax mentioned on their instagram that if someone just wants a chemical resistant beast that S&S is the go to but the ceramic coating caters to those who just dont wanna put in thr additional elbow grease for buffing off the S&S.
    Love the fact how they are transparent and arent just trying to upsell

    Extremely well done!!! It looked to me like Seal and Shine edged it out at the end but like you and others have commented, they were both so close that it will probably come down to preference based on the pros and cons of each product. Also from a "real world conditions" standpoint the Ceramic Spray when applied with a second coat after the initial 24hr cure time, is SUPPOSED to have more long term durability. Of course time will tell... Aside from that I'm going to definitely pick some up and test it out on my own vehicles.

    I only experienced a little streaking with Seal n Shine on the hood only. The vehicle was at operating temperature after going through a drive thru car wash, I applied Seal n Shine as a drying aid. I attribute the streaking to the latent heat in the hood from the heat of the engine. I was able to eliminate the streaks by applying Collinite 845 to the hood and wiping it away. Not sure how "layerable those two product are but I definitely have good protection. I would like to see a salt grime mixture applied to hood and allowed to sit on the panel for a few days after a proper application of the products, to me that is real world. I am not in hurry to get the Ceramic product I have plenty of Seal n Shine. I really like Seal n Shine.

    After using ICE Spray Wax for about a year, I tried the Ceramic Coating and used a 5-inch microfiber applicator (directions said to use a separate towel as an applicator) and I learned to work in a small area or the product can dry too quickly. After two days cure time, reapplied the Ceramic Coating in cool/cold weather. Two months later, the Hybrid coating still sheds water better than the regular spray wax applied to a different vehicle. IMO: the Spray Wax has Ease-of-Application and the Ceramic Coating has greater durability and it was chosen to apply on the roof of a SUV/Van because its such a PITA to clean and wax the top.

    On the ceramic coating, a 24 hour cure is needed between coats too. You put it on too thick imo. Great vid! Can't wait to try it. No such thing as a "wet cure", really, imo. S&S needs no cure. The ceramic coating will wash right off if not cured properly. In conclusion, for my money, I'm Stickin with S&S. Cheaper and more durable. In my use of S&S, I had no problem with the streaking on the paint. However, I did have some streaking on glass. TW tried to one up on S&S but imo just didn't score with the ceramic.

    Something that has to be considered here is that like ICE - the new Hybrid Solutions are an entire line of products that compliment each other and likely need to be used together. I have had fantastic results using ICE Speed Compound to prep the paint - then using Seal and Shine - followed up with the ICE Paste Wax - and then the ICE Spray Wax (which I apply after cleaning the car using ICE Wash and Wax). My cars have never looked so good and specifically my Corvettes are so smooth and easy to wash as nothing seems to stick (not even bugs and tar). Water just rolls off the paint and the gloss is amazing. I get asked all the time what products I use and folks sometime seem surprised when I say Turtle Wax ICE. I have good reason to be loyal to the product line...
    That being said there is an entire new line of Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions that have yet to be tested in tandem with each other. One advantage is that the New Hybrid Spray Wax goes on after a wash while the car is still wet - saving a step since you dry and wax at the same time. If the new Hybrid spray wax works as well as the ICE spray wax does - that it could save time. I am anxious to learn more about / use the entire new line of products before I pass judgement...
    Here is the ultimate comparison test:
    ICE Speed Compound - then ICE Seal and Shine - then ICE Spray Wax
    VS.
    Hybrid Solutions Polish and Wax - then Hybrid Ceramic Spray Coating - then Hybrid Spray Wax
    Using the entire line of each will show the true final result - there you go Jimbo - that would be something worth a RUclips episode on your channel!

Same thing with the technicians choice they hold up pretty well when you use it like a drying aid. I can't wait to try those new Turtle Wax products after using Meguiars for so many years. As far as paste wax is concerned what do you think of the 3M paste wax it's pretty durable.
