Jimbo, that is exactly the comparison I was looking for, I used to believe Megs was years ahead of Turtle on everything but my perception with this Hybrid Solutions is definitely changing
Legitimate question, I understand folks say put sealants down first than a wax for gloss. If a sealant is as good as they say, as well with it's UV blocking ability while also reducing the carnauba waxs contact with the environments wouldn't it make sense to apply that on the bottom? If the sealant is protecting it it should last longer (at least in theory) giving you the best of both worlds (water beading characteristics and protection from the sealant) with a longer life to the carnauba and the glow it offers. I understand folks say do it the other way but wouldn't the sealant on top protect the carnuba and give it a longer life while giving you the benefit of the sealants water characteristics. Putting carnauba wax on top just seems like it would mask the advantages of a sealant (mostly water beading) it has always seemed counter intuitive to me. Could you possibly one day do a torture test to see if there is actually any benefit with gloss readings before and after just to see which would last longer under those conditions and maintain their gloss? I really don't want this to come off as troll-ish I'm completely serious shouldn't the stronger sealant protect the weaker carnuba under it giving it a longer glow?
I use the Turtle wax (originally Seal & Shine, now the Hybrid Ceramic) with Technicians choice Ceramic Spray as my drying aid / topper. Love the gloss, ease of use, slickness and water beading so far!!
Is poly wax really good? I blindly bought it even though I have Colonite 845. I kind of feel an addiction coming on. 😂 Tempted to Get 915 and a couple of the TW HS products. I know, over kill, but I wanna try everything!
@@autodetailingpodcast it's like amazon has a deal with TW or something. cant find it anywhere else. places like pepboys and walmart usually have TW but no show with the hybrid solutions. hopefully soon as you say.
Hey Jimbo! Would love to see you stack a ceramic wax with something like a glaze. Curious to see what the gloss factor would be like and to see if the ceramic wax keeps the glaze from being pulled out of any small scratches or swirls!
How does these products do with light scratches? Have yet to see any videos on youtube on that actual topic and test. I've noticed things that usually rub against cars unintentionally in tight parking lots are keys, jeans studs, watches, handbag zippers etc.. does these products even provide any form of protection from light scratches? Tks.
Hey Jimbo! I'm looking for the ultimate Sheeter! I use Meguires Ceramic Spray wax now. What should I be using the water spots from beeding are driving me crazy! Can anyone help?
How about testing against Jescar Powerlock + and Colonite 845? Not a ceramic but this stacking combo has been around and proven for gloss, hydrophobic properties, and durability.
Jimbo I just found your channel and subscribed. I have a 2020 Tacoma that I try to maintain and wash regularly. What product would you recommend that’s easy to apply that would give me protection until I’m able to get a full detail. For reference I’ve been using Lucas slick mist speed wax and the truck still has the oem base coat of wax. It hasn’t been fully waxed since I bought it last year.
Hi, can you please tell me from your experience or opinion, how will this product " Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Wax" work or do on gelcoat, on white or colored saltwater boats (which have be normal polished and waxed before- a old school way). Have and Would you do it on a boat or do you know somebody who have done it? Hi very impressive gloss. I have a KIa forte 2019 Gravity Gray color. So do you recommend to me use the Turtle wax Hybrid solution ceramic Acrylic Black spry WAX ? my car is not black but Gravity Gray is a llittle dark gray. Currently I am use " ceramic liquid wax by Adams. or what another ceramic wax do you recomen to me.
Interesting video. I've just started a RUclips subscription to your channel after seeing Pan the organizer do his thing and recommended watching yours. I like your realistic approach to everything. My curiosity is this Turtle Hybrid Ceramic Black polish followed by Turtle seal and shine topped of by turtle hybrid ceramic black spray wax. Here in Texas when weather permits I will be trying this myself. I've already done my roof hood and trunk with the black polish and spray wax. Being an avid Meguiars Ultimate line fan and have all their products from compound to wax, I've been impressed by Turtle Hybrid Ceramic line and the videos you and Pan have done. My car is a 2010 Kia Optima LX in Platinum Graphite Metallic dark gray. ABT is the paint code, just through that in because I do my owns minor body work and paint correction. The reason I did just the roof hood and trunk is due to some minor work needed on the front and rear bumpers and two back doors. My car has just broke 56 thousand miles and now that I'm retired for the past 5 years I spend a lot of time trying to keep it detailed and looking great. I know it's not a Jag, BMW, Audi but it's good enough for my wife and I. Wish I could see how to post a picture of it just for grins. Anyway I would like your thoughts on this. I plan on DA compounding the quarter panels next with ultimate Compound then IPA wipe followed by Turtle Hybrid Ceramic Black polish and seal and shine and hybrid ceramic black spray wax here in the spring. What do you think of this idea ?
Can you compare these to lets say Adams ceramic boost and waterless wash with the sio2? Also i noticed Adams is the only company (that I saw) that actually lists the percent of sio2 in their products. I would love to see how other companies compare. So are we really getting a better value with the cheaper brands or do they skimp on the product.
I used the Turtle Wax ceramic spray coating this evening, after a full polish using the ceramic polish and wax. (24 hr previous). I followed the instructions closely, but didn't get great results. The product is very hard to buff off, leaving smears and dark patches. I don't get it. Two sprays per panel, work it around with a microfibre, then buff with a dry and clean microfiber. It just doesn't want to come off. I don't get it, is this the same product?
i have collonite wax, powerlock plus sealer, and the megs ceramic wax. what would be the best way to stack any of the three ? can the ceramic coating go on top of the jescar powerlock sealant? thanks!
Could mecguiers liquid ceramic wax then turtle wax ceramic polish and wax finish it off with seal nd shine. 1.mcguiers liquid ceramic wax 2.turtle wax polish and wax 3. Turtle wax seal and shine
I just got fed up with waiting for youtubers to do layering tests and got my own test panel, and now you are doing layering tests. At least now I don't have to do them all myself and other people will also learn. I can't wait to see this series evolve. Just testing each product line most major companies are selling is tons of content. And that's before mixing different major manufactures most popular products. Would also be interesting to see how durable each of the two products being layered are own their own as well. My set up is: full decon + light polish, followed by applying glaze to half a section, and leaving the other half bare clear coat. After letting the glaze cure 24 hours, I put 1 layer of several spray sealants & waxes on both a bare clear & glazed sections of paint. 24 hour cure, another layer, 24 hour cure and since then I've been letting it sit outside awaiting a torture test. Essentially, I am testing to see if the glaze below the spray sealants/waxes make a noticeable difference in durability. Additionally, TW Bug & Tar is more annoying to use than its worth. Ironically after that statement, I am not surprised at all that TW ended up winning this test. Edit: Jimbo I see you've got the line on those new Megs Branded Gloves. Also Edit: would be cool to see you adopt part of the new Apex Detail style testing which is much more realistic and adds a touch of what a rainy day drive would be like.
I use that bug and tar remover from turtle wax from time to time and it's very hard to get off. It's almost like axle grease in that it gums up the wash mit. I now use a paper towel to lightly wipe off all I can before I wash the car. Lesson learned. I think something to consider is that after each torture test (which would simulate a separate washing) most folks would then reapply the spray wax of their choice as a finishing detail. This is a good test, thank you. Most folks might never get to full degradation before reapplying though. I wouldn't. I'm sure that's what turtle wax is hoping for.
Try with just high water pressure and the best would be a PW. Do this directly after the dwell time. Then the little that's left as in residue should be easly washed of with the wash. But this product seems to be leaving a lot of residue. Also the products in the cheaper range of products of TW usually has a very small amount of their wax in it which often cloggs a high performance in water behavior from your LSP. Think that they uses this so that you will see like it's getting cleaner. Many brands does this with adding some of their low grade wax or synthetic wax. Which usually makes a big hit on a high performance LSP. Like in cheap car soaps and different degreasers. If your LSP is durable you can revive it from this with doing a wash or two with a car soap like Carpro Reset or Tac System Mystic Bubble or Gtechnic G-Wash or Gyeon Bathe. Which leaves nothing behind as in protection and glossenhancers.
I think stacking makes sense. I actually stacked McGuire's and turtle wax one day to find out it lasted quite a while 3 months of abuse and just now I'm having to redo my truck. Now to switch to full turtle wax products. Thanks for the videos they are very informative and give me a base of where to start with products for myself as well as others I detail for.
Hey, jimbo. What about chemical guys black light, chemical guys jet seal and turtle wax seal and shine? I just tried it on my car and seems to hold up well. Curious as to the torture test results tho and what you might think.
Terrific test. That Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover is a silicone wax. You generally use it very sparingly and dry buff it off. I use it myself.n Thanks for the great content.
Love your vids, but wouldn't you wanna use the TW ceramic polish wax first ,let it cure 24hrs . Then add 2 layers of TW ceramic spray after. Curious if it make a difference witch order you apply the TW products.
I’m wondering what would happen if you resprayed the meguiars and did a rinse if that would bring back the hydrophobic properties and revitalize the coating with a simple spray and rinse. As always love the videos.
Did you name your gloss meter Brian? I use Bead Maker as a topper for the gloss. It's not my main protection and I wash my car at least twice a month so not concerned about its durability. I think a lot of people use is, would be interested in seeing that in the stack for gloss meter and durability.
Can I apply the turtle wax over fast finish. It’s about 5 months old. Paint is in very good condition. Amd I plan on claying And if I decide to go back to fast finish can I just clay and apply fast finish over the turtle wax ?
This is my combo for what it's worth. The bead maker only lasts a few weeks but I can tell a difference with and without but the seal and shine remains.
Problem with Bead Maker is that 2 or 3 days after application you car has a light film of fine dust or pollen. Maybe it increases the static charge of the surface.
I don't agree with stacking say a ceramic coating with a polymer sealant, might change the characteristics of the coating. TryTurtle Wax Seal & shine, top it with bead maker. Both are polymer-based and should work good together.
The sun damages these protechents a lot as well as normal daily driving. I've detailed past cars where I used past waxes and other products I thought were good, to have almost no hydrophobic properties afterwards lasting only 3 months in Tucson sun. To understand the strength of a product is very important because the sun really damaged these products
Leroy S. Jenkins 845 is a carnuba wax. I personally always go “heaviest to lightest”. Paste waxes first and then sprays. Although I would recommend seal n shine and then bead maker on top
@@jeremys8360 I would argue against that. Seal n Shine is a spray sealant, and in my own personal car, and from some other comments I read throughout. Seal n Shine last longer than 845. I don't consider SS a wax anyway. And since 845 is a polymer/carnouba wax. I used SS as lsp, then collinite over it recently tbh.
I got the Wet Wax to go with the Ceramic Spray. It sounded a better combo to rejuvenate the coating as I have a truck I take off-road so I have to put a hand wash in to get it truly clean.
I just like that Turtle Wax encourages stacking Ice Seal n Shine and Ice Spray Wax. Because I can sort of use Ice Spray Wax for detailing and even waterless if my car isn’t too dirty. And Ice Spray Wax is easy to buff out with no streaking. I’m going to try Hybrid 3 in 1 next as an actual, “authorized” waterless product. Plus, hopefully, it should play nice with the Ice base and topper layers.
Hybrid Solutions 3 in 1 is too much work as a detailer or waterless wash. It’s a little gooey and hard to finish without streaks or smears. Ice Spray Wax is easier even though not approved by TW as a detailer or waterless wash. Maybe I should use Ice Spray Detailer instead lol.
I agree! You're the top gear of car detailing products lol. Love that show and btw Top Gear is now called the Grand Tour on Amazon prime. Love the content. Helps me a lot. Thanks
Every time you do your sniffy sniff test, a middle school science teacher dies lol. The FIRST thing you learn in science class is "NEVER smell chemicals!" hahaha
Great video as usual. I’d like to know more about those black latex Meguiars gloves. Awesome product placement! You should have had a turtle wax glove on your left hand. 👍
Jimbo i have a few extra things that would be awesome to see in your torture testing. Where i live in Canada we get slammed with salt on the roads to help reduce ice build up. We also use "winter specific" washer fluid that has chemical agents to dissolve ice from our windshields. Now on my Coated truck i always notice how big of a beating the spray on coating toppers get in the winter. Especially from the washer fluid. sounds weird but when you spray that stuff on your windshield there's ALWAYS a ton of overspray over the vehicle. When your spraying the stuff 20-30 times over the course of a 20-30 min drive you can imagine how much gets on your vehicle over a 5 day work week. Not to mention the constant salt water drying on the paint daily. But it would be cool to see you spraying windshield washer fluid to the panel also especially the ones that claim to remove bug guts or ice build up. and maybe you can think of a creative way to get road salt contamination to a panel and see how fast it destroys our favourite coating toppers. Anyways i hope your able to see this and some of your viewers can get some real world scenarios on your testing! thanks for the great content and i always look forward to watching your videos for the honest reviews on products. Your the reason i started buying Seal N shine! lol Cheers,
I think the absolute killer combo would be Turtle Wax Seal & shine, with beadtmaker on top. They're both a sealant so they should work good together. You have the ultra durability of seal & shine coupled with the amazing shine of beadtmaker
I think you should also do strictly just a gloss stack series like using the Meguiar’s M7 and the M26 or just some off the wall combos. I mean if you have the gloss meter, might as well use it for something fun haha! 🤷🏻♂️😆
I have been using TW Ceramic in my black Clio and still very happy. First aplication was 2 layers with 24 hours between them. Good shine and texture. Could clean bird drop easily. My profile, a lazy man but still worry about some protection. My car stay under shadow 24h a day.
Jimbo there's what we want brother, thank you so much man! Please do 2 layers of Meguiars Ultimate Fast Finish with a 24 hr cure time as well as the new Ultimate quik wax on top vs the turtlewax ceramic spray and detailer?? Please bud, I use the fast finish and I have tested in real world time that I get 6 months with two layers of fast finish and once a month I now spray ultimate quik wax as a booster to the sealant. I'm pretty confident that this combo will beat any other combinations.. Thanks for a great video bro👌
Definitely agree on the FF! It's great and I had it on my new car for 6 months until Seal N Shine showed released. An excellent product and much easier to use even though all the TW stuff is super easy.
why do folks use super strong test chemicals to break down the wax/ceramic carts?? why not just do a video seeing which one holds up better after multiple carwash type cleaning. I no longer hand wash my new cars. Spend $20 and wash as many times in a month as needed. spray the wax on and dry off myself. Anyway, good effort and it looks like Turtle wax/ceramic wins again.
Would you like to see more products stacked and layered like this??

Love your vids, but wouldn't you wanna use the TW ceramic polish wax first ,let it cure 24hrs . Then add 2 layers of TW ceramic spray after. Curious if it make a difference witch order you apply the TW products.
I wanted to see if you can regain the hydrophobic properties by only spraying and rinsing the Meguiar’s like the label says.
you cant only if there is a base layer, it doesnt work if there isnt one.
@@autodetailingpodcast yea sorry that’s what I meant.
Jimbo you gotta do seal n shine with ice spray wax
Very interesting,,,,the TW is continuing to show its ability to beat back the torture tests....!
I went to DD’s and they had a lot of the Eagle One Tire cleaner for $2.49 in CA.
What that got to do with this video??? Smh
I’m wondering what would happen if you resprayed the meguiars and did a rinse if that would bring back the hydrophobic properties and revitalize the coating with a simple spray and rinse. As always love the videos.
"I wait 7 days to do something, and than I mess it up", That's life in general.
Jimbo l Love your video however i dig your wall setup. what your setup?
Did you name your gloss meter Brian? I use Bead Maker as a topper for the gloss. It's not my main protection and I wash my car at least twice a month so not concerned about its durability. I think a lot of people use is, would be interested in seeing that in the stack for gloss meter and durability.
Can I apply the turtle wax over fast finish. It’s about 5 months old. Paint is in very good condition. Amd I plan on claying And if I decide to go back to fast finish can I just clay and apply fast finish over the turtle wax ?
Can you stack P&S Detailing Products Bead Maker Paint Protectant over Turtle Wax ICE Seal N Shine?
Kyle Feilmeier SIO2 products seem to be much less affected by the sun than wax based protectants based on my experience and the Florida sun
Polymer Spray Sealants. No si02, as in Seal n Shine topped with a polymer wax such as collinite.
Collinite is a brand. Are you talking about 845
@@jeremys8360 yes
Leroy S. Jenkins I normally use seal n shine and then a ceramic detail spray or similar to layer on
Go go Jimbo !!!
Now this is a proper smasher review
Thank you very much
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love to see u do the McGuire's spray vs the turtle ceramic wet wax because they are both the same idea spray on wet and dry off
I got the Wet Wax to go with the Ceramic Spray. It sounded a better combo to rejuvenate the coating as I have a truck I take off-road so I have to put a hand wash in to get it truly clean.
The jiz slomo was great lol 😂
Well I mean... at least we found something that doesn't require 7 passes to go through!!
Men...Tw is a beast....🙂😲😲😲👍👍👍
it really is.
can you compare these products with fusso
Jaso Decarlo I used fusso in one of my tests last week. Against Turtle wax and Seal n Shine
Thanks
Awesome Jimbo! I was looking forward to a video like this with the se two products. Thanks!
Every time you do your sniffy sniff test, a middle school science teacher dies lol. The FIRST thing you learn in science class is "NEVER smell chemicals!" hahaha
true
Great video as usual. I’d like to know more about those black latex Meguiars gloves. Awesome product placement! You should have had a turtle wax glove on your left hand. 👍
And how about stacking P&S Detailing Products Bead Maker Paint Protectant over Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Wax?
I reckon stack ultimate polish then ultimate wax then use the hybrid ceramic as dry application sealer
Still amazed at what TW does for the price.
Your the reason i started buying Seal N shine! lol
Cheers,
Please enjoy your great country, man I wish I had that option to stay more that 6months
Check out Apex Detail. He addresses issues like the ones you brought up.
Nice video and i dont think u messed up. Tw bug and tar killed the hydrophobicity of ice spray wax and seal and shine on my car.
I think you should do the testing following the directions of each of the products say.
I didn’t follow instructions?
@@patb5266 Ff is so under rated.
You may want to consider having a ph neutral shampoo at the ready to kind of reset the panel after each chemical test so residue won't be a concern.
Stacking is the way to go👍🏼 The test was solid good work.
why do folks use super strong test chemicals to break down the wax/ceramic carts?? why not just do a video seeing which one holds up better after multiple carwash type cleaning. I no longer hand wash my new cars. Spend $20 and wash as many times in a month as needed. spray the wax on and dry off myself. Anyway, good effort and it looks like Turtle wax/ceramic wins again.
I stacked their hybrid traditional wax with the hybrid detailer, i can literally see myself in my door😂
On any black or dark-coloured smooth surface, including floor tiles, you can see yourself.
