  • Jason Timpf breaks down how Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, and the Denver Nuggets pulled off their incredible comeback win over LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 2 of their series. Jason highlights the biggest 4th quarter moments and shares what LA should have done differently in their effort to even the series. Later, Jason breaks down film from Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and the Dallas Mavericks' 96-93 Game 2 win over Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, and the Los Angeles Clippers as well as game footage from Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves' 105-93 win over Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns. The show ends with Jason answering listener mailbag questions including why he believes LeBron James is a Top 3 player in the NBA right now, and what to make of Steph Curry following his sluggish end to the season with the Warriors.

Jokic cleaning the boards and pushing tempo in the finial 18 minutes was insane.
He was firing outlet passes down the floor - and that one to KCP w/ the dunk that only took like 3 seconds tells a large part of the story how they came back

I know Jamal hit the game winning buzzer beater shot, but the key most important shot of the game was the 3 from MPJ on that chaotic possession to tie the game. MPJ has been huge for the Nuggets. Considering his 3 back surgeries and the family catastrophe that he is going through right now, he has been a straight up warrior. 🙏🏻

When I moved to Denver I was running 6 miles a s day. It takes a long to to really acclimate to the altitude. The altitude affected the Lakers. It did in both games. If you notice they wore out at the end of the 3rd qtr. They walked the ball up the entire 4th qtr. Anyone who doesn't think that the altitude didn't affect the Laker's never was actively working out at sea level and then was in Denver at a moment's notice.

Nuggets are prolific to bring up a very sloppy game when they feel superior to the opponent or percieve a game as not important. That's why they were good in play off, they were trying harder, but unfortunately, no longer for lakers. But, if they give Wolves a finger, they are going to take their arm off. Going down with them at all is a huge risk.

Absolutely heartbreaking loss. Tying the series 1-1 and stealing one in Denver would have been huge for their psyche and confidence. Especially if they had ended up winning by 10 or more. Instead they blow a 20 point lead and get absolutely demoralized with Murray’s last shot. They could have made it a series. Unfortunately, that game 2 loss will have a huge effect on their psychology, whether they know it or not. The series is over.

Hello Jason, one of the better NBA analysts that I Ve come across. You probably talked about it ,but I would love to hear about your Basketball journey, from highschool until now.I have 2 more questions, that are relatable to Denver-Lakers matchup.I am 38 ,and I am trying everything under the sun ,diet ,cold plunge , sauna, keeping my testosterone on the level where it was when I was 31-32 YO ect. but I just lack the energy I had 5-6 years ago ,so in my opinion Lebron is still top 10 NBA player, but if he would take step back and played 20 min a game max ,since you are similar age ,and you're not narrative pusher like most you "colleagues" I am interested in hearing your thoughts on ,mine opinion.
2.I find it hilarious Lebron complaining about officiating, and him saying "what are we doing here" is that just frustration,or trying to buy stocks for next game. Honestly he should be better than that. One bad call didn't loose the game for Lakers ,your 1h long video proves it ,and I could make a case that on the last possession he pushed off KCP ,and made offensive foul. But regardless, in you opinion is there a place for him ,and what he represent to this league to have such post game press?
Thank you for all your hard work , regards from Montenegro.

mailbag question: you mentioned the psychology of the game. what do you make of Anthony Davis's sports psychology? ive never seen an athlete so talented yet lacking in that sicko factor where he can just fade in key moments of games. he's like a normal guy off the street psychologically who happens to be almost 7 ft and amazing at basketball. he's every bit as good as Duncan and Olajuwon, who though mild-mannered never shied from those moments. it would help if AD talked more shit when he's going off.

I know that lakers have ALWAYS more free throws than Nuggets. They have over 20 every game and Nuggets as few as 7 in the same game.

Peace! Absolutely 💯 I said the same thing when the rumors were swirling. D Murray gives you a really solid 2-way answer to Jamal Murray…he’s athletic and has a handle…The Laker management completely ruined the chances of this team. Austin Reaves is not a two way player. AR’s offense is even suffering because he’s chasing Jamal around the court..

As long as there's no way to stop Jokic there is no way to win. When he wants to play bully ball it is guaranteed points and Lakers don't have anyone that can confidently get a bucket every time down the stretch. Outside of shooting 50% from 3 I don't see any path for the Lakers to win this series. Lakers lost the battle years ago when they got rid of a true center who could bump Jokic for 20 minutes every game and wear him down.

mailbag question: could denver be toying with the lakers? a 200 o rating in crunchtime makes no sense. Why don't they just do that all game? Mike Malone said they have adjustments they haven't had to use yet. How can that be true when they were town 20 in the late 3rd? Either they wield some powerful dark magic, or they're toying with us. I don't believe in magic, so is it possible the Nuggets just aren't even fully exerting until the last possible moment they have to?

But this is why I was saying it was a waste of time to sign Dinwiddie. He can't stop Murray and the Lakers don't even play It enough minutes. Why did they even bother. Din witty made a huge mistake shoulder went to Dallas.

Jason, love your content man but nobody blamed the officials. Lebron made a comment (on his last question of the press conference) about the replay center for a play on Q3 AND the Kicks/Philly game. Nobody said "the refs sucked". Nobody said "it was a poorly officiated game". Nobody said "refs cost us the game". Nobody said "it came down to a bad call". To the contrary, everyone said the Nuggets played a great game. There's a lot going on with the Lakers but having a loser mentality is not one of them.

I belive that was a shot by Jokic. He is obsessed with getting a 3 shot foul in an unlikely situation. He sensed contact but didn't get the call. Pure luck AG recovered it.
Joker does that pretty often, goes into a shooting motion and the refs always ignore it.

Kobe, Mike never made excuses. Le Bron hasn't been awesome, if le Bron was awesome they wouldn't be down 2 games with Murry and joker playing sub par compared to the regular season. Not really. If they put him in the starting lineup, he will replace either D'lo or Reaves and tank their offense. That or they take him off the bench and maybe get a touch more value there but, that's about it as far as I can think.
Edit: Forgot about Rui for some reason. Maybe that might actually help a bit but at the same time, still losing offense for more defense and the Lakers need more consistent offense more than anything down the stretch.

Yeah, I'm reaching ;) We'll get to see if Lebron can rally this LAL team to show some pride and defend their home court with everything they've got despite being 0-10 vs the Nuggets.
