Joker is averaging 29, 13, and 10 this postseason. Once again his postseason numbers are better than his ridiculous regular season numbers. And he's done it v AD and Gobert and in this series the best D in the league. He's played 74 career playoff games and he's top 10 all time in playoff ppg and true shooting and is top 15 all time in rebounds and assists per playoff game. One of the greatest playoff performers in league history. Was this his greatest game ever? Not sure about that. He had 41-15-15 v the Suns on Christmas Day a couple of years ago and a 49-14-10 game v the Clippers too. But this one is definitely up there and given the importance of the game may be his best.

I tell him and his older sister every single game that this is once in a lifetime greatness that they’re watching. I doubt they realize fully yet but I’m saving this video to show them later. A Nuggets repeat this year will cement Joker as the greatest… assuming more accolades will come.
A better storyline couldn’t have been written with the MVP snub last year, chip+ finals mvp, then down 0-2 to the next Michael Jordan… then greatness released. The opening screen on Edwards in game 3 was the turning point on the court. But the MVP announcement disrespect is what woke the sleeping giant.

Great Analysis Jason. Would add three small things: 1. The shoulder shimmy in the post was pioneered by MJ, with Olajuwon following closely after, not KG. KG himself said he used it as he wanted to be power-forward version of MJ. 2. The move Jokic does on the baseline is called a Smitty, after Steve Smith and his pioneering of it in the 90s. 3. The so-called step through gather he takes is a clear travel before this new (B.S.) rule that allows a step through from a picked up dribble, That was a clear travel before the last few years when the NBA quietly changed the rule. Which is why guys like Lebron and Chris Paul never would've done that earlier in their careers as it was simply illegal. To allow a gather step following a pivot and not from a live dribble is complete hogwash but nowadays they allow it. What makes it more egregious that as usual it's clear without that 'newly allowed step' he wouldn't have been able to even get the shot off let alone hit it. The 'Sombor Shuffle' is effectively the same thing - allowing a step after a pivot, which again helps him get off a shot where previously he would've been stuffed. Really ridiculous which is why so many fans instinctively react to it as a travel but that's just the Modern NBA.

Level of focus for Jokic in the game is off the chart, like everybody is saying, Jokic received the MVP award tonight and he took it personal and BBQ Gobert.
I really love the video section where Jason breaks down and dissects the game play by play for us. Super knowledgeable! We are custom to see so-called Super Stars beat ppl with superior skill set & athleticism in iso, but basketball is never a 1 on 1 sport. Why risk every shot with higher missing chance when u can smartly get easy buckets.
PS: the pivot foot work near the basket was best done by Kobe: he is amazing at that.

As a Denver fan I kindly ask you to not speak about Boston yet. I've knocked on wood and taking the jinx off of it. One team at a time. This thing is probably going to seven and we're not counting our victories until we get them done. Everybody knows that Ant could come out with a 50-point game and they could take game 6. If I were a betting man I would bet on Minnesota in game 6. But as a Nuggets fan I really hope we find a way to pull it out. If not I'm pretty confident about game 7 but it's always better to wrap it up early if you can. No way that it's going to be easy. I think Minnesota is the closest team to Denver of all the remaining playoff teams. Boston's right there but we have a lot of work to do before we get to see them, if we get to see them. A big thing that you fail to comment about Jokic's game is IQ and speed of decision making with the game. Sure, you can teach players all the fundamentals, and you make it sound like it's only impeccable fundamentals that makes Jokic great. But, what makes Jokic great is how his mind can slow the game down. What looks like frenetic chaos to other players, the game looks slow and simple to Jokic. That's something you can't teach. You are either born with that processing ability or you aren't.

You are allowed to lift your pivot foot off the ground if you shoot or pass the ball before landing your pivot foot back on the ground. This is explicitly allowed by the NBA rulebook and it has been so for at least the last 40 years (you can see Bodiroga doing this to team USA in Olympics final in 1996).
Check out NBA rulebook, rule no 10 section 13. Lifting your pivot foot and shooting or passing before landing your pivot foot back on the ground is explicitly allowed.
I have seen some morons say that it is illegal because their coach or referee said it was illegal. It is irrlevant what your coaches or referees say, the NBA rulebook decides what is legal and what is illegal and the NBA rulebook is crystal clear on this front. There is no room for intepretation here.

Shout out to the league for their decision to switch up the ref style when we went down 0-2 to MN, to make MN back off on defense. That was a smart move for many reasons:
    1. People want offense style basketball, not boring defense ball. We want to see these amazing athletes score!
    2. MN has a tiny fanbase so if they win the series that's bad for NBA's future. Ratings will go down.
    3. Denver are the defending champs with 3 time MVP (should be 4 time) so there's serious legacies at stake, here. And that's serious $ down the line too.
    4. The only people complaining is MN fans who know the history that playoffs have always been reffed more physical to allow D, so switching to soft reffing in the playoffs mid-series is unfair and unprecedented. But there are so few of them that this is really a decision that's about benefiting the most people possible.
    5. And even for MN, their players make more money if the league succeeds. So if they stop to think about it, it's even better for them financially in the long run.
    And more...

@bgdgdgdf4488 Actually it was smart for them to script the huge win for MN before they lose in Game 7 on Sunday. And where did the Lakers and their defense rank for the season?
Gobert was the anchor and best defender on the league's best defense for the whole season.
Jokic was not playing at this level in the Lakers series and averaged, what, 26-13-9? This Jokic would pulverize AD.
Simply put, the way he's playing now, noone can defend him 1-on-1. And, as usual, He cannot be doubled anyways.

@@felixmalcherek2919 your comment was interesting and made sense until the last part. So Jokic was worse when he played the lakers but against the wolves he’s the MVP GOAT…
Yes this totally supports your argument.
The Wolves have plus defenders down the roster and especially on the perimeter. Now compare that to the lakers. Who have Vando, AD and Lebron. Using the teams defensive metric to support a dude that can’t defend outside of 5 feet is hilarious.

@@cheflev9884 Jokic was not playing with this level of aggressiveness against the Lakers. The two losses in this series were a wakeup call and the whole Nuggets squad played significantly better since.
In those 2 losses Jokic played like he did vs LA and was mostly contained by Minnesota. That Jokic (the one contained in those losses) was averaging 26-13-9 against LA.
Current Jokic would average 35-15-12 against AD and the Lakers.
Which is what he did Last year.

    • @cheflev9884
      @cheflev9884 23 дня назад

@@felixmalcherek2919 The point I made about Gobert has nothing to do with Denver. AD is a better defender than Gobert. We can have that conversation if you like.
Saying Gobert is better than AD at defense because Jokic scored more against the wolves and Gobert and therefore he would have done that against the lakers is ridiculous. The logic isn’t there.
Basketball is a 2 way sport. The wolves and lakers are not balanced teams. Lakers were 3rd ranked offense in the nba at the tail end of the season. Wolves were the best defense (down the roster).
Against the lakers Denver actually had to defend, chase and compete. AD and Bron were roasting Jokic and Murray on defense. That took wind away from their offense being forced to compete on both ends.
The Wolves on the other hand can’t score if they aren’t in transition. That makes defense so much easier. Offensively Kat and Gobert have done nothing to force Jokic to work on that end.

It makes my stomach hurt that people think that move is a travel. It is not a travel and it has never been a travel. You are allowed to lift your pivot foot if you pass or shoot the ball before you land your pivot foot back on the ground. This is explicitly allowed by the NBA rulebook, rule number 10, section 13 d.
If your coaches or referees said that was a travel, they are wrong. NBA rulebook decides what is and what isn't a travel, not coaches, not referees and the NBA rulebook is crystal clear on this front. @@Musso88 Those who taught you this was a travel were wrong.
