Right, I checked their impact report. Strangely, one thing that's missing there is their overhead ratio. So they gave some money to wonderful charities such as GLAAD, ACLU or Rock the Vote but what percentage went to management? 1%? 30%? 80%? We don't know.
Some in San Fran Bay area have long considered the X to be "the new Hummer" hahaha....it's a little intimidating. Was boxed in, X in front and X behind Seattle freeway in lil' sports car, feels like being in-between vice jaws.
The first time she said “the falcon door” I was 90% sure she used a different four letter F word 🤣 excellent video. Great job getting both of your takes on the car. I very much enjoyed hearing both experiences.

I came to this channel for dirty Tesla and was not disappointed 😂 Very nice review. Until this day i didn’t know Model X has self closing doors 👍🏻
I just love the windshield. Most cars I’ve driven, the roof of the car dips too low to where I can’t see traffic lights easily unless I duck. I wanna sit straight with good posture. Plus, it would nice to be able to enjoy the sky and scenery and not feel claustrophobic as I’m driving. Like she said, “there’s no other car I’d rather have.” I need to test drive one, once there’s actually one available at the nearest Tesla store near me. But it’s the perfect car, in my eyes. Has all the bells and whistles to make driving easier. Even the auto presenting doors and auto closing just sweetens the deal for me
I'm also very happy with my 2022 Model X. My biggest gripe is probably that the screens are polarized the same direction as road glare, so I can't see the screens if I wear polarized sunglasses. On the other hand, the autopilot may have saved my life last week, so I am very happy with the car.
Maybe a matte screen protector can fix that.. like $40 on Amazon. And also will current refresh X owners be able to get the tilt screen that they now come with installed ? I believe yours came with everything for it but the motors .. so maybe Tesla can just install the motors
So I just got my X LR yesterday and I have a totally different experience. 1. Pick up was weird. Drop off check and Tesla said your car is outside. Didn't show me anything. A previous customer was there showed me everything. He ordered the X and had maintenance problems, so he was waiting there and able to show me the X. 2. Visible panel gaps, 3 locations. Took pictures and uploaded to Tesla app, appointment at the end of the month. The service department was packed with model Y. 3. Once I drove home I heard a rattle sound coming from the passenger side. The car had about 240 miles taking delivery. 4. Positives, the car drives well. Had to get used to driving one leg. Did not like the left and right turn button. Cause there are times when you have to turn and press the button and it's upside down. Additionally, you have to look down to press it taking your eyes off the road. 5. Love the technology. 6. I can't see the live visualization on navigation even though I signed up to premium connectivity. 7. The window were dirty, smudges. So aside from the panel gaps on the X and the rattle sound, I still like the car, but to pay that much money for the car and having to bring it back was a huge disappointment. Likely I will postpone my Y order until after covid. If not bypass the Y and just get the Cybertruck, not sure if I can deal with rattling sounds.
No matter what the half shafts have design issues, we have replaced ours on average every 23k miles. The first set was at 7k miles because we set the ride height to Standard. On set number four at 100k miles.
Also the wiper blades (still on the first set of wipers!) last longer then the rubber on the falcon wings glass roof. $2400 to replace them, providing service doesn’t damage the interior Alcan Tara trim pieces on the interior are another $1100, not to Mention dealing with clueless service writers, multiple trips to service 😏 time is money and get ready for lots of wasted time and delays.
It's a pleasure to watch the two of you, as I think you're especially nice people, very sweet, very kind, and I need more of that around. It also makes it so easy for me to listen to what you're actually saying, because information flows so smoothly. To that point, I feel like I learn something every time I watch the channel. Thank you.
Nice to hear Stephanie’s take on the yoke. Those of us with smaller hands might find it uncomfortable but apparently I shouldn’t be worried. Shorter people also can have problems in some cars with the seat position and reaching the pedals. So those comments are welcome. I know tall people have problems related to height and leg room.
I know it might sound silly, but man, the way you look at Stephanie.. It really shows how much you love her! Hopefully she loves you as much as you do (Joking ofc ;)).
Chris, the active noise cancelling is not active if there's someone in the backseat, so if your carseats back there are buckled or weigh enough to trigger a butt in seat, it wont be active even if its toggled on. From the manual: "Active Road Noise Reduction may disable if a window is rolled down, door is open, or the fan is turned up. Active Road Noise Reduction also disables if there is a rear passenger in the vehicle."
In the settings it tells you if it's on or calibrating. When you have back seat passengers, it says optimized for all seats. If you don't, it says optimized for front passengers. So it was on the times I was specifically trying to see if I could tell a difference
16:00 Put an old blanket or something over that table in your garage. The "cave" under the table is what is messing with the ultrasonic sensors. Test it and see the difference.
It'd be actually life-changing to win the Model X. A man can dream. For now, I've got my old Nissan Leaf (with about 60 miles range realistically) and I absolutely love being an EV owner. It's so relaxing not only because it's quiet, but also having less mechanical issues to worry about and considerably less cost of ownership. The self open/close doors are so cool. I love that it has a screen in front of the wheel, too. It has cooled seats, too? Awesome! (Of course the falcon wing doors are great.) I hope they add cooled seats to the Model 3 since that's realistically the one I'd eventually afford.
@@DirtyTesla For sure! I hope they do it soon so we can fast forward some years and I can get one on the used market at a price I can afford. Haha. (But realistically, the used market has been at like $50k+ for a while, though I do grant they generally have FSD package also.)
Since getting our new Model 3 a few weeks ago I have now become aware how smelly gas and diesel cars are. Can’t wait till all cars are electric. Love your show.
Wow, your Model Y is on the back burner! Literally! 🤣🤣 love this car . Any problems with doors in and way? Any reports to you from others on issues of the doors being strange and potentially opening onto neighboring car doors because of the design? Or is this just rumor?
If I was younger with kids, the X would be perfect. I'm not, so the Model Y is perfect until the CyberTruck arrives and that will be my one and done. Agree about your take on ICE cars. I'm in California which has more Tesla's (and other EV's) than anywhere else and I still find myself in a sea of ICE when driving. So many people driving new cars that are as or more expensive than a Tesla. If Tesla's were available for immediate purchase/delivery, there would be many more of them on the roads here in CA.
Yeah the Y is much better value. But the X works so much better for kids. It's still a tough decision whether to keep the X with the premiums on it available now, but what could we possibly replace it with? lol
The Ultraschall Sensors are in the model 3/y under your tabel in the Garage. Maybe the midel x is little bit glitchi because thats regestrate the tabel and the Wall down your tabel. Its a idea and sorry about my english
regarding the ultrasonic sensors, as you have a lot of random stuff against the wall, I would try them agains clean wall first.. if it works than put some cardboard in front of the stuff 😬
I think all model x owners have the same experience. It’s so weird. Like what she said is exactly my experience too since I got the car. Same thing on the trading cars. There’s nothing I would trade it for because I know eventually it wouldn’t live up to everything that X provides in comfort and convenience
I actually have the same issue on the Model Y 2022 /March --> delay on the ultrasonic sensors and the distance in centimeters, I really hope Tesla will fix this with a software update.
Yea third row is a little annoying it still being manual, but event the GLS third row is manual with at least the head rest. There’s no console in the front to automatically move them up and down. Would be cool if tesla made it automatic from both the screen and the back
Regarding your backup sensors, I noticed that you have some tables at the back of your garage. This is just a guess on my part but I think the sensors are getting confused between the back wall of the garage and the edge of the table top. You could try an experiment by putting something in front of the table like a piece of plywood and try backing in again. A tarp hanging over the edge of the table may work too.
I am also a person who thinks it would be better if a lot of cars were electric, but I also see scenarios of people who live out in the country and just can't justify any current Ev's for themselves. As well as people that want to build and modify their cars to have more power etc should have that abiltiy too do so. But I myself am currently driving an 06 malibu with the 3.5L v6 and I do wish I could get rid of things like feeling the car shifiting, especially since its not smooth at all lol. Or the lag and delay when I push the gas pedal and then the car has to scream when it puts its power down. I go over large hills a lot and wow do I wish I could have electric power to get me up them just fine without turning off my AC lol.
@@DirtyTesla Yes. Let me rephrase. People who live on farms, or mountain homes who Can have an Ev, but don’t want to charge before going back up to their homes that are high up in elevation or far from towns. Not saying they can’t have one, but They don’t want to accommodate one. Don’t get me wrong I won’t be buying another ICE car in the future. But There’s situations where I see how some people don’t want to spend the money for a generally expensive car (even a base model 3) and accommodate their lifestyle to it.
Yes, there are some people (mostly out in the boonies) who will need an ICE vehicle but EVs would be fine for the vast majority. If that vast majority switched to EVs then the world and our cities would be much more pleasant.
@@BitJam I agree, however I don’t think we should take away v8’s or any type of car modifying from anyone as so many people enjoy it. We should try and make many new ev’s electric but we shouldn’t try to entirely force everyone to be electric. Not for a long while at least.
As someone still waiting on the X... Can you talk about whether or not the rear screen is still playing through the whole cabin, the sound quality in the car, camera only (no radar) autopilot, and how the white seats are holding up with kids? Also curious how much real world range you're getting and how long it takes to charge.
Sure! Rear screen still plays throughout. I'm not sure what the plan is for that audio. Sound quality is very good but I'm no audiophile and it's mostly kids music were playing :P Autopilot without radar is working great. On back roads you will get some phantom braking, like slowing only 3-5mph, but highways have been rock solid. White seats are perfect so far. I did ceramic coat them with this amzn.to/3l0bC64 but the kids are also in car seats so don't have much direct contact with the seats. Real world range is pretty close to what Tesla says off highway, but on highway you're getting less. Mayne 75-85% depending on conditions. And charging on a 32amp outlet is about 10% every 1.5 hours, so it can take a while. 48amp brings you to about 10%/hour.
@@DirtyTesla Yeah that is the tricky part. I thought you guys had drag strips everywhere in the US. Here in Denmark we have 0 drag strips, they cannot get permits 😞
I would rather have a power Frunk than the auto driver/pass doors. Problem with auto things is if they are not 100%, then you are having to guess what it is going to do.
All people who breathe should notice how much car pollution there is walking near a busy road. As for noise, in a small town with a 2 lane road through downtown the car noise bounces off of the facing buildings. Here in Stupidville FL, when the locals aren’t flipping bottle caps, their pastime is startling peds by rumping their mufflerless trucks. I’d sure like to see, hear & smell all of this go the way of the Dodo.
You have a lovely wife mate! The Tesla model X is an amazing car, I still love my 2018 100D after four years of ownership and 86,000 miles. The best car in the world!
Great video as always!! Would be great if you could do a comparison video between the refresh and the used X. Does it makes sense to save 30k and buy a 2020 model v/s refresh/plaid?
I don't know what that is. It's definitely not burning as it goes away, but the screen seems to hold onto some artifacts for a time. But I've seen it in my Y as well so I believe it's something with these recent software versions as I never noticed it before.
Hello, very informative video, nice that there are two people giving opinion, just a quick question, how you and your wife find driving with yoke steering wheel and any signs of peeling? Now, Tesla made an option of traditional steering wheel and a yoke, still undecided which one but I’m curious with the yoke, any advise please, thank you.
Driving experience is great. Build quality sucks. Too many issues with my MX plaid. And up to now still hasn’t been fixed. Sticker shows manufacturers in MEXICO
Nope. That's the trade off going 6 seat vs 5 or 7. With the middle bench you can fold it down for a ton of room. The middle captain's chairs do not fold down.
I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again! I want an X!!! I don't have kids, and never will, but loading my dog in and out of the back seat, and buckling him into his seat belt, would be so much easier with the FWD! I want those doors so bad. Would need the bench seat though, he's huge, wouldn't be able to sit on a single bucket seat, and he likes to lay down.
I don't notice much difference but tbh I usually listen to more like podcast type things in the Y, and when in the X it's almost always kids music lmao. I'm also nowhere near an audiophile. So I'm not the right person to ask.
Q: If you park the car next to others in a parking lot, can you open the falcon doors? how much space do you need to avoid to hit the doors / the cars next to your car? Obviously, it will depend the kind of cars you have on both sides but if you can do a short video about it, it will be appreciate. thanks.
The FWD have ultra sonic sensors in them as well, so if you park close to a wall or car, they will first move straight up and then come out. You can park *very* close to other cars and still have them open. Closer than even seen in this picture twitter.com/DirtyTesLa/status/1518197304292958208
Hey, Chris! Greetings from Bulgaria. Our family has 2018 Model X and we really love it! This is the best car we ever had and definitely the most reliable. It’s already out of warranty and besides the “yellowish” stains on the MCU screen (a common issue with this model)we never had any warranty repairs. We would change our Model X only for another Model X Long Range once they are available here in Europe- may be end of 2023. Please make a test of the road noise with and without ANC function. I’m curious to hear the difference. It should be noticeable.
Your wife said she would not trade her Model X for any other car. How about a new Tesla Model X Plaid? Would you have anything to say about that? Does the driver preferences not include the air suspension settings? Love your videos!
@@DirtyTesla Oh, I should've clarified. It's a common issue in my local Tesla group for people with iphones to have the app not unlock their car. And they have to either open the app and fiddle with it, or use their keycard. Meanwhile none of the Android users have reported that. It seems like a few times a month I see a post from someone with an iphone complaining that their phone doesn't unlock the car about 20% of the time.
Great video. Will you be able to get the tilt screen the X now comes with installed by Tesla ? From what I saw on Munro Live’s S tear down, the S had everything except the motors installed for the tilt screw. Im guessing the same would be for the earlier refreshed X’s
Hey, I received my Tesla 2 weeks ago, but I’m not sure of all the accessories which come with the car and I had box of these black things. Apparently, they should be attached to the tire rims😮if you what accessories are included please let me know. Thank you.
Great video as always. Please , when you ceramic coat it , can you ask the question to know if you can still use wash it in automatic car wash but with no contact mode. Wondering if the soap is too heavy for the ceramic coat , and if so , would there be like a after wash spray treatment to re-enforce the ceramic coat after each wash in automatic car wash
It depends on which ceramic coat you use. The one I used, (this one glnk.io/3owm/dirty-tesla) they say you can take it to any car wash you wish. Some brands have a special wash they want you to use with it.
@@DirtyTesla oh great. But you still will be forced to use the no contact mode right… because the mainstream consensus seems to say that automatic wash brushes are the worst thing you can do to a car , as it introduced Swirles and weakens the ceramic coating
With the amount of dirt and mud you appear to get, I think the right approach would have been to get full body PPF. And THEN apply optionally apply the ceramic coating.
We ordered before any of the price increases so we actually still paid less than today's price ruclips.net/video/1d7zqMx3O9k/видео.html But even if that wasn't the case, car prices change every day. I'm not going to be mad about a price change a year after I paid a price i agreed on.
When you were choosing Long range vs plaid were you considering the plaid or you knew that speed wasn’t a factor in your decision. Or in this case Stephanie decision.
Didn't consider the Plaid. Even the LR was just barely within our budget and while of course the speed would be fun, Stephanie won't even floor the LR lol

Definitely get the Tesla cargo mat for the rear area. I’ve appreciated mine for years.
Also get the heavy-duty floor mats for front and mid seats. Especially since you live on a dirt road.
Hey Chris, great video!
Do you have a draggy, nobody have posted a quarter mile time with the LR yet. Maybe you can secure that data?
Ha I have it on my watch later. I don't really know a good/safe place to test it.
@@DirtyTesla Yeah that is the tricky part. I thought you guys had drag strips everywhere in the US.
Here in Denmark we have 0 drag strips, they cannot get permits 😞
ruclips.net/video/mCW1muxwMho/видео.html , 1/2mile , 2020 Model Y LR , wheel upgrade
man X looks so good in White
Yep! I grew up near A squared and now live downtown in a similar sized city. The noise from ice cars is unnecessary (to say the least).
Thanks
I would rather have a power Frunk than the auto driver/pass doors. Problem with auto things is if they are not 100%, then you are having to guess what it is going to do.
I think I agree with this but man do I enjoy the auto driver door. Before I used it I assumed I'd just turn it off.
I received my TMX 2022 last week and I have exactly the same problem with the falcon door in the garage. Hope we will be able to program eventually.
You can program it. It just seems to ignore that sometimes 🤷♂️
@@DirtyTesla program ok but how?
Just got mine last week , I am in Michigan too🎉
All people who breathe should notice how much car pollution there is walking near a busy road. As for noise, in a small town with a 2 lane road through downtown the car noise bounces off of the facing buildings. Here in Stupidville FL, when the locals aren’t flipping bottle caps, their pastime is startling peds by rumping their mufflerless trucks. I’d sure like to see, hear & smell all of this go the way of the Dodo.
my Model S also started defaulting to low, pre refresh, might be a software bug
You have a lovely wife mate! The Tesla model X is an amazing car, I still love my 2018 100D after four years of ownership and 86,000 miles. The best car in the world!
congrats guys - well deserved!
Great video as always!! Would be great if you could do a comparison video between the refresh and the used X. Does it makes sense to save 30k and buy a 2020 model v/s refresh/plaid?
$30k yeah probably
Now I get why the channel is called Dirty Tesla ;)
09:09 is there screen burning under the sentry button?
I don't know what that is. It's definitely not burning as it goes away, but the screen seems to hold onto some artifacts for a time. But I've seen it in my Y as well so I believe it's something with these recent software versions as I never noticed it before.
I know why it's defaulted to low. They are having issues with a suspension and it works better on low. Getting ours replaced owning for a year.
That could be. Especially since they eat the cost the first 50k miles/4 years.
Thanks Chris! This was a really fun and informative video.
Nice video,How is the Actual Wind and Road noise compare to other Luxury car???? Like Lexus
Great video. It really is a plus to have your wife’s observations. I noted that Sandy Munro’s wife as also started to join his videos.
Driving experience is great. Build quality sucks. Too many issues with my MX plaid. And up to now still hasn’t been fixed. Sticker shows manufacturers in MEXICO
nice review I liked the pacing . thanks!
Can the 2 front seats fold down aswell to make an even bigger space?
I have the model S Plaid and a new born, how is the 6 seater treating you with baby car seat? The S is kinda small but I still love the looks of it
X is one of the best vehicles you can get for car seats. Watch the falcon wing door section I talk exactly about this.
Wait... The long range has launch mode??? I thought it was only in plaid?
Nope! I was surprised but it'll do cheetah stance and everything.
@@DirtyTesla Coooooooooool. Nice to hear!
is the sound system in the X noticeably different\better than the one in the Y?
I don't notice much difference but tbh I usually listen to more like podcast type things in the Y, and when in the X it's almost always kids music lmao. I'm also nowhere near an audiophile. So I'm not the right person to ask.
Would love to get an X but that upfront cost is crazy. Model Y on order still waiting on it. 7 months and counting
"do you always want to be high in that location?" i want to be high all the time XD
Q: If you park the car next to others in a parking lot, can you open the falcon doors? how much space do you need to avoid to hit the doors / the cars next to your car? Obviously, it will depend the kind of cars you have on both sides but if you can do a short video about it, it will be appreciate. thanks.
Falcon wing door require less space than conventional doors
The FWD have ultra sonic sensors in them as well, so if you park close to a wall or car, they will first move straight up and then come out. You can park *very* close to other cars and still have them open. Closer than even seen in this picture twitter.com/DirtyTesLa/status/1518197304292958208
First thing we turned off after a month of having the X was the automatic opening of the door. It can get annoying!
I can try, but the speakers are near the headrest of the seat, so I'm not sure if i would be able to capture it with a mic!
I can’t wait software update tonight,,,
Na he said this weekend
@@DirtyTesla omg
How do the gull wing doors handle raining situations?
Our 2018 you’re able to set it to normal based on speed limit. Did they remove that option under suspension? Set it to low only over 90 mph.
I think auto-open of the driver door is optional, i.e., is a setting
It is optional but neither of us want to turn it off! haha
I really appreciate how detailed the video is…love it:) thx
Can't wait for my Plaid. Great Vid. Love the comments by wifey.
Your wife said she would not trade her Model X for any other car. How about a new Tesla Model X Plaid? Would you have anything to say about that?
Does the driver preferences not include the air suspension settings? Love your videos!
Clean! Car before podcasts.
Very Nice Bro! Get Good People!
I've never had the slightest issue with my phone and the car. It's always worked flawlessly. Probably because I don't have an Apple phone.
What issue do you mean? I use android as well.
@@StormsparkPegasus yes, this seems to be a common iPhone issue
Great video as usual. Thank you.
Great video. Will you be able to get the tilt screen the X now comes with installed by Tesla ? From what I saw on Munro Live’s S tear down, the S had everything except the motors installed for the tilt screw. Im guessing the same would be for the earlier refreshed X’s
I'm not sure. I haven't asked. I'm sure you could DIY it tho
Hey, I received my Tesla 2 weeks ago, but I’m not sure of all the accessories which come with the car and I had box of these black things. Apparently, they should be attached to the tire rims😮if you what accessories are included please let me know. Thank you.
Those caps can be added to the wheels to improve aero efficiency but tbh they don't do much so you can ignore them. It also comes with a hitch
Thé Tesla technicien went home yesterday and, like us, he did not find a way to program them.
People call them falcon wing doors? I would have thought it would be x wing doors.
Great review!
Driving since 2014 electric cars. :)
My first own car was electric... ^^
So i won't even consider a ICE car nowadays.
Where is the spare tire
Watching to feed your children
Give me your check mark you only post to tik tok anyway
Any issue keeping mussel memory when switching between the y and x driving with the yoke?
The main thing I notice when I go back to the Y is I try to do the touch turn signals lmao. Other than that no problem
How do you feel about Tesla dropping the price by 10K?
We ordered before any of the price increases so we actually still paid less than today's price ruclips.net/video/1d7zqMx3O9k/видео.html
But even if that wasn't the case, car prices change every day. I'm not going to be mad about a price change a year after I paid a price i agreed on.
I have no idea where Chris got his nickname from.
What is your tire psi? My ride feels bumpy and i think its because my tires are a bit over inflated
It was whatever recommended was. 45?
Does it have air vents in the third row? Thanks for your video, well done!
Yes it does
Tesla rocks
How are the panel alignments?
The appearance IS necessary!
Who thought the dirt on the lens was stuff on your monitor?
Sorry D: hated seeing that but I cleaned it now lol
Why did you mount your wall connector outside rather than inside your garage?
I park outside with the Y. While we can fit both cars in the garage, it's really tight.
