    I have a 2022 Model X Plaid and would like to add what I do not like: one thing primarily e.g. the windshield is so big that on sunny days it's uncomfortable. The visors are OK but not as good for blocking the sun as traditional visors. I made it much more bearable by adding darker tint above, all the way down to the visors. I traded in a model S because of having to haul our grandkids around, as well as older friends who had a had time getting out of the back of a model S. Most times I drive alone, feeling like a kid again (I'm 76) with a car that can beat any other SUV. No regrets at all buying it except for the timing. If I'd waited longer it would have been cheaper and I would have gotten the swivel screen. A tip perhaps you didn't notice---I discovered the back storage has 2 levels. You can position it lower that the floor (6-8 inches) and still have storage underneath. Things like grocery bags sit very secure in this lower space. Enjoyed the video. Thx

    I have driven both model X and Y for quite some time and I can easily justify the price difference. Overall vehicle & cabin size, comfort level, advantages from the adaptive air suspension including adjustable ground clearance, way better quality seats, super cool falcon wings, overall quietness, front seat passenger openness, dramatic acceleration, better general handling, Yolk steering, 17 inch screen, automatic soft closing doors, larger cargo space, attractive 6 seats option and probably several more..

      Once the Chinese designed Model Y is out... I would say it would close most gaps with model X maybe delivering 90% of the features, with few addition ones like ambient lighting. The new model Y would definitely share the same design with the new model 3, with significant improvements on the following 1) ventilated seat and potential sport seat; 2) better designed steering wheel with horn option as well as second row screens; 3) much smoother ride with both improved suspension and acoustic glasses, this almost certainly will bring model Y to the same comfort level with model X; 4) more frequent updates to the drive systems vs model X and 5) less moving parts means it break less often.

    Very nice review. Totally like your enthusiasm for the yoke. I have a 2022 MSLR and also love the yoke and agree with your other review points about the suspension and other features. I love our MSLR! One feature that you noted and that we have enjoyed is the remarkable efficiency difference relative to our previous two MS's. We are getting greater than 4 miles/kW, which makes our car incredibly efficient on long trips with the 405 mile range with the 19" wheels.

And with your popularity you doing more reviews on the autopilot feature might get Tesla to start doing more updates on the autopilot feature as well

    I'll put my thoughts on my new Model Y on the board here for others to see. I have had zero issues with it since taking delivery, no issues to start and we've already driven it about 450 miles and have spent $17 charging it at home. I've never owned a new car or even a used car that was even close to this expensive when it was new. So, I'm not jaded by nice luxury cars. The Model Y is hands down the best car I've ever driven and obviously the best vehicle I've ever owned. You can shop around if you want, but I doubt you'll find another manufacturer more committed to safety and continued upgrades via software than Tesla. I'd be more than willing to put up with a few issues to stick with Tesla, but the good thing so far is, there are none.

    with a yoke you cannot drive with your knee, which i think everyone has experienced. there is also something about having the top of the wheel catch your hands as it's returning to position where the yoke won't allow enough area to return to your hand. I may switch back to a yoke one day but i'm pretty sure i'm going to retro fit to a wheel.

    As a Model Y owner I'd say between the two vehicles, I mostly like the captain's seats in the X. I also like the 17 inch screen, the tilt function and the way you can move objects on the screen. I'm 6 feet / 2 inches and while the Model Y is plenty spacious the X is more roomy when someone is sitting behind the driver. As far as overall storage....that's not an issue for me since I drive it 100% of the time and my kids are grown and on their own...so it's jet me and the wife.
    Road trips are a breeze. We pack up, throw the Modern Spare tire in the back and still have plenty of room in the frunk and sub trunk.

    My wife and I have had our 2022 model x for about 6 months now. We both love the car as well. We have had some minor issues and have our first service appointment to fix a weird seat belt issue in one of the back seats and a rattle either in the driver side falcon door or the seat next to it. We had mobile service try to come and fix the seat belt issue at our house and they scuffed the area around it so they opted to put a whole new seat in at our service appointment, I think it’s the same one you went to actually since we live in NW Ohio we’re going to the Toledo service center. Besides that I would agree our only “regret” is the price. We bought at the absolute worst time due to Tesla’s price cuts. We opted for white paint, 20 inch wheels, 6 seats and cream interior which at the time of purchase was around $130k, completely insane for a car. The same car today costs about $106k which is unfortunate, but oh well, live and learn. Hopefully after this service visit we wont have any issues like your X hasn’t. One thing I would note is the cream seats are still a pretty light color and I’ve had no issues keeping them clean at all and they really don’t show dirt in my experience, maybe something to consider.

    Regarding the yoke. I have been driving the Model S with that same yoke for almost a year. I also prefer the yoke over a wheel for two reasons: 1. It's more comfortable than the wheel, especially on long trips. 2. I like the better visibility above the yoke. The major drawback is the horn, which is not a "yoke shape" problem. The horn being a button on the side is a major safety problem. It is impossible to find the horn in an emergency. More so if the wheel is turned. In an emergency situation, you can't afford the time to think about where the horn is. It needs to be dead simple and automatic, and it's not. It's happened to me several times.

    I'm sure you've seen Kyle Connor's OutOfSpec videos about how terrible the CCS charging experience can be. For that reason alone, I would not recommend buying any CCS EV today. Chargepoint is reliable and is expanding their public charging presence but it will take some time. They also leave management up to the site host and many of those hosts do not have the expertise to maintain the systems. EA, EVgo, Blink and all the others have significant reliability problems and are just not managing their networks adequately. They've had lots of time to get it right and just are not trying hard enough. This will change in a few years, either by these networks giving up and partnering with Tesla using the magic dock or by them working harder on their reliability and maintenance.

    We have a Model 3P and a Model X Plaid and the X is definitely more plush. The first thing we did was pay $700 to replace the yoke with a wheel because preference and yes you get to keep the yoke for the future if you sell the vehicle. Although the front seats are much more comfortable than the Model 3 and the rear has more leg room, the X's rear seats being captains chairs are too close to the doors and myself and others who've ridden in the back find themselves leaning toward the center of the vehicle because our shoulder and elbow don't fit unless we roll down the window and hang them outside. I really wish the second row's captain's chairs were closer together or adjustable side to side because there's no reason for a giant gap between them forcing you into the door. Also, not a fan of the second row's seat buckets where the back and bottom are fixed like a racecar seat without a hinge. They don't move forward very far for 3rd row access and they hardly recline. Not a car you'd want to be stuck in the second or third row for a long trip in unless you were driving or riding shotgun. It is stupid fast though and that makes up for many shortcomings. 😆

    Nice honest summary. Always appreciated. My personal feeling is that 6-figures for a car is a luxury. And when I am buying a luxury item I think you have to pay cash. Financing something you don't NEED, seems like a poor choice. It is refreshing to see that cost is a significant consideration for you in determining if you regret the purchase. I think you can make a final determination on that once you see how much you can get for the Model X when your Cybertruck comes in.

    • @DirtyTesla
      @DirtyTesla Год назад +3

      Thanks. Yeah I didn't finance the entire thing, but that's a good way to look at it. Cost has always been top consideration for our vehicle purchases, but for something like a 3/Y it's like "wow I'm getting so much" and I guess the premium for the X doesn't bring enough extra, for me, to justify the large price increase.

They've replaced TPS sensors for free when they swap winter tires. When a tire gets a bubble, its only a $20 warranty fee for a new tire. My biggest worry about Cybertruck is tires. I want to take it to the mud park to do videos, but, do I really want to spend $400/tire for off-road tires that I then have to swap off? As a rental, are renters going to chew through tires?

    How does the app work with coordinating multiple Tesla’s? I haven’t seen any videos for people considering a second one. Like if you have your phone in your pocket and walk up to either does it work automatically? Or do you need to swap to the other somehow? Are driver profiles shared? How does it work with having multiple phones? ( like if your wife drives a model Y but you drive the Model X. Do you have to swap profiles each time you get in, etc?
    Sorry for so many questions, you get the idea though. Might be nice to see a video addressing the ebb and flow of multiple users vs owning multiple cars. I’m sure it’s all been mentioned somewhere in passing, but I can’t find it, lol. :)
    Thanks for the awesome videos! Got to drive a tesla finally ( model Y performance) was an absolute blast and solidified that we’re buying one in the near future. Which brings me to my last question, is there a referral program still in effect? If so, how can I get you credit? ( since your videos have been my primary source of information)

    • @DirtyTesla
      @DirtyTesla Год назад +1

      It works automatically with both cars, it's really nice. If you need to interact with them in the app, you can swipe side to side to change between cars.
      Each profile is synced to our phone. So when I walk up to my X or Y, it gets ready for me, and same if my wife walks up, it gets ready for her.
      There used to be a vehicle referral program (link is in the description) but as of now it's only for solar in the US. Thanks for trying to use the referral and thanks for watching :)

Now I know to tell the Tesla service center in advance "If it's a tire issue, just call me and I will take it to Discount" if I ever have to take my Cybertruck in for repair. I've gotten pretty good at figuring out problems on ICE cars, but CT is going to have that air suspension, which I am looking forward to, but which might also become a repair issue. The nightmare would be if the air tank goes bad right when it gets out of warranty. Like a head gasket on an American 4-cylinder lol

    I like how you didn't cover FSD at all and just compared the EV as a car only. IMO it's the FSD that really sets Tesla apart from every EV out there and is personally the main reason I'd consider a Tesla over all the other EVs on the market.

    • @DirtyTesla
      @DirtyTesla Год назад +1

      I mean I have like a bajillion FSD videos already ruclips.net/video/ZmzvGFiCTB4/видео.html
      But imo it is too expensive for what you're getting. Base autopilot of course is amazing and included free, but many companies are starting to include similar features. I love AP and FSD, but my wife barely uses it, and for her car, it's not an important factor in the decision to buy the car.

    The model Y LR starts at 50,240 and with the tax credit would be sub 43K. That's actually cheaper than the model 3 LR because it "only" gets 3750 tax credit. Model Y for the win IMO. Yes, I'd like to have an X, but like you, am budget constrained.

    • @DirtyTesla

      @@DirtyTesla OK, just a glance, then go back to Tesla. 😀
      Seriously, even as a second car you charge at home, from time to time you will need to go further, and since you never use standard public chargers, you will have to figure out how they work and what subscription/member card is required, and it will quickly become a nightmare, under pouring rain, with your kids crying in the back of the car, wanting to go the bathroom, while the car is finally starting to charge at 50 kw... Think about it twice.
