  • This is why the 190E 2.3 is one of the most important cars in Mercedes Benz history and arguably one of the greatest cars ever made!

    I only have a Sportline Japan spec automatic 2.0 here in Canada, but all 190e cars share the same "look" and yes they are incredibly balanced. The Sportline sits low like the Cosworth with a quick steering box, rims and seats only 4 passengers minus the power, extra handling and rarity. In my opinion they are beautiful cars. I'm fortunate to have found a rust free 91. A keeper.
    Thanks for the Video. Good job.

      Should I opt for a Sportline Edition? I am looking to buy one 190e right now. Any issues that need to be looked? And are parts available and what's the worst case scenario?

    • @peterarsenault2671
      @peterarsenault2671 Год назад +1

      @@manbiteslife3110 Sportline edition are harder to find. Sure, if you could find a good one you'd be better off l think.
      They do drive a little stiffer than the regular "sedan" version, so if you prefer a smoother ride the Sportline may not be exactly what you want.
      Rust is the biggest issue for any vehicle so always look for rust that's gone too far, especially cars that are winter driven where they salt the roads.
      The parts for these cars are readily available and the aren't a nightmare to work on like I've been told by people who've never owned or know anything about them.
      They are legendary vehicle that have alot to offer and those who know that own one or want one.
      Shop around for one that was taken care of like mine and never winter driven or at least extremely rust free.

      @@peterarsenault2671 Thank you. Thankfully the weather in Gr is very good, so rarely the roads are salted, but I will check for rust definitely. I think getting a 1.8 Sportline, is just a waste of a better ride, because 110HP . I want to enjoy the ride and ride it slowly , listen to music etc . Thanks for the information.

    190e 2.3/2.5-16 with a dogleg 5 speed is the fastest (slow) car i’ve ever driven.

    "I n the U.S. they did get these cars, but none of them came with the dog-leg, 5-speed that I have right here with me."
    You may want to check your notes:
    All manual 2.3-16s sold in the U.S. (a little over 1/2 of the 1900+ U.S. spec cars) were equipped with the same Getrag 717.404 dog-leg as every other manually transmissioned 2.3-16 sold globally.
    I believe that it was the E30 M3 that did not have a dog-leg trans in U.S. spec (and Japan spec) vs. Euro spec.
    And none of the Mercedes 190E 16v variants had ITBs from the factory - they all ran on Bosch KE-Jetronic (CIS-E) with a single throttle body.
