Seeing his newer videos compared to the ones made during his MT days you can tell this man is constantly improving his craft. Even after more than a decade of making videos (i think) he is still finetuning his skills in telling great stories and making the best car reviews. Such a big fan of Jason
Being with MT was is downfall. Being paired with Liberman was a nightmare. Liberman would bait Camissa into an argument so they spent the entire time arguing which got so annoying. I stopped watching MT once Camissa left because I couldn't stand Liberman, he's insufferable. He's a hipster, made it worst when I found out he was supporting the indoctrination of 1st-3rd grade children with LGBTQ. I saw his comments praising celebrities against Desantis on Instagram.
I opened RUclips by mistake and was about to close it swiftly when I saw Jason in the thumbnail and I knew I had to religiously watch it. I was great to see young Jason come so far, only developing that charm and confidence he has today to draw in and keep his audience glued.
My first car was a 1989 E34 BMW. I loved that thing. It was kind of all I could afford as I was at the start of my career. This was 2003 or so. Loved that thing. Commuted across Sydney in that thing for years. When I got a bit of money I bought the E39 5 series in pretty much as new condition. Love those era cars. Just brilliant. I'm sure the Mercedes is also great.
Recently, I've tried out an 190E 2.5 16V for only 2 days and Cammisa's right: the ride is really impressive compared to the modern cars; you never had the struggle on going over bumps and it'll still give you enough feedback about the handling, making it feel like you're driving a proper car, not a lump of a daily commute just to go from point A to B. What I've also find impressive is the fact that its Getrag transmission still feels great and doesn't have that kind of annoyances that you find in cars around its age (i.e., the gears not getting in properly because of the wear), making the driving more enjoyable and hassle-free, despite of the dog-leg config. However, I found it really easy to use and never had the urge to shift it to Reverse because of muscle memory. In sum, I wish I could drive it again and, maybe, own it...
The shifter comparison is the most interesting bit methinks. Both dogleg and yet entirely different leagues. Shame I don't like the W201 that much, really cool car tho..especially the Evo
Mr. Cammisa I'm born in nice car era, mid 80's and I adore your style of commenting on cars, was watching top gear, fifth gear, car wow, throttle house, etc. but you are on another level of intelligence (Also Scotty Kilmer is fun to watch, but for other reasons). Keep the good job and give special care to cars like 190E and olders.
I once owned a Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 and it was an awesome car. Carfection just published a video about all the M3 and I made this exact comment and now... THIS video gets released. What are the odds of that?
I remember watching this on mtod. Was so angry that I had been lied to my entire life about how amazingly epic the original M3 was. Which, years later is somewhat irrelevant because I still want one…
Oh my God! i taught that these early films will be deleted from youtube for ever, but they're coming back. Waiting for the VW Golf R vs Ford Focus RS film which is one of the best car films ever made!
Great article about two amazing cars, you can't beat a limited edition performance car made to win in competition by a large manufacturer. I'm a huge fan of Group A and B, Homologation and the inevitable Evolution models, evocative and passionate ends of the motorsport spectrum. Due to my age, I've been very lucky to have witnessed many of these cars in full factory spec raced and rallied in anger, a true spectacle, even got to sit in some back in the day when a service area or a paddock was far less corporate with a more friendlier and open environment. Jason, what makes you're pieces just that bit better than most on these mythical categories is your superb attention to detail and facts, congrats. p.s. I think you're in Cali, if so, maybe pop along to Tim Allens lock up, I hear he has an RS200.
Amazing review❤ Really liked how he just buys the 190 on the spot :) Legend move!! both are exactly as Jason described. Had E30 325i for many years, also an easy DIY car + crazy fun to drive, true drivers car. And few month ago finally got the 190 as I always admired it too - brought home 2.3 Azzurro avantgarde Sportline model, 1 of only 950 made in total, and I daily this engineering masterpiece as it’s more “car” than the E30. When was this video made? Nice prices at that time 😮
I was fortunate enough to get to drive a 190e 2.3-16 with the 5 speed dogleg box. I must admit, it was a fantastic drive and the car is surprisingly quick and obviously quite nimble. If I had more space I would certainly have been looking to pick one up.
I agree, I’m saving money for a good condition. I drove in one cosworth engine and the ride of that car for the 190.I love the s14 engines, high rev engine, and a inline 4.
always easily forgotten in teh Mercedes 190 E 2.3 16V and BME e30 M2 story is the Ford Sierra Cosworth. This also was a very good car with a very good story. The Sierra Cosworth was the M3's biggest contender on the rally stages.
This was an epic story and I nearly bought an M3 because (in spite of?) it, having just sold my Valiant R/T Charger (Look it up - an Aussie muscle story that aches for a Cammisa perspective (ie. no money, old truck engine made good (semi hemi) and racing development done in cut and shut mule utes (that still exist)). I'm still kicking myself that I didn't by the E30 M3 (bought a MINT E30 manual 318i as a daily instead), but hindsight is a wonderful thing, it only allows us to kick ourselves in the ass...
My favorite part is that formula one block was an m10, the tractor 4 cylinder that went in every 320 e21. The best BMW is a e21 320 with an e30 M3 head ITBs and the full alpina trim. E30 M3 performance with a frankly more fun live axle for street driving, better interior and some glorious Bauhaus touches on the exterior.
I had a US 16V for ten years (and 2 engine failures). Fabulous driving car but now have something like it but maybe better: a Euro Mercedes 300CE-24 Sportline mit 5-speed Getrag, like your old 300SL. The steering, handling etc. evokes the 16V.
i came down here to complain that AMG's have sports suspension and it is not intended for comfort, but he seems like a pretty good growing youtube channel.
My mom had a 190E, but with the standard engine, and it was heavy and really really slow. I like the BMW better because it is sportier with just two doors.
This has been recommended to me again, so I guess I'll rewatch it. This was when Jason was skinny and annoying when he's with Jonny Liberman. Liberman would always push Camissa into an argument which got tiring. On his own, he's brilliant.

I think the greatest miss of the 2.3-16 is that the only color options were: Camry Beige and Shows All Dirt Black. At least the E30 M3 had a proper color palette to choose from.
The e30 m3 is a very cool car, but the 190e evo 2 with the full aero and the wing is pretty much objective perfection for a car like that, although i do like the "grandpas old car stealth weapon" thing the 190e in the video has going on.

Only problem with this video is that it's way too short. But good for Jason's son for picking up his father's legacy.
🤦♂
These types of comment is why I love internet.
@@radityaindera3442 I love this🤣
@@JasonCammisa your son is a bit short but he has the same skills as you tbh
If you want a longer video about it, just watch Hagerty, Jason explained this story with more details there a few months ago
I own a 1987 Mercedes 190e 2.3-16v. Love the car! Been in the family since purchased in 1987! Will never sell!
Very good!
how much do you want for it
0:00 Jason Cammisa video starts

Do you wait for the video to start? SMH...
fuckin a. Him and johnny had great chemistry.
Why so late to like?
you got some of Jasons shit on your nose buddy.....
This is how a real review should look like - travelling back in time and reviewing the cars the year they were produced. Well done Jason!

Agreed ! I love Jason’s videos, I know I’ll have a great time and will stay captivated for as long as the video will last, no matter the duration
My first thought too.

When you review a car so good you actually buy it on the spot
Me thinking damn I know this car other than watching this same video in high school at MotorTrend
He didn't drive the nsx after a test drive..........
Damn! The current value of E30 M3s then compared to now 🤣😂😩😭
I caught that too! Anyone watching would love to buy either car at the old “current value”
190e's are cheap! At least here in the UK
@@tomfurstyfield The 16v models?
@@tomfurstyfield what do you call cheap? If you can find the twin cam 2.3 then 2.5?
A nice E30 325i with low miles is crazy money, was buying them for £300 at one time
Today I too bought a Euro 190E 2.3-16 on the spot. Can't wait to get some miles on it.

Jason is staying young by ingesting the souls of modern bmw's. Which is why the new cars are a mess.
Seeing Senna driving the 190 completely on the limit always gives me chills
My buddy had the M3 but I drove the 190 2.3 16V and fell in love with it.
That M3 looks better then any new M3
A video from the archives when Jason Cammisa was in his late 20s. 1080p in 2004 is crazy
So glad to see all these old Cammisa videos. I miss them.
The shifter comparison is the most interesting bit methinks. Both dogleg and yet entirely different leagues.
Shame I don't like the W201 that much, really cool car tho..especially the Evo
@Justinian Yi Wow I didn't know that, I'll try to get that done with mine.
Consider just how many times the world has been saved by the phrase “luckily, the engineers ignored them…” ;-)
one of the OG vids from Cammisa 😎
This gotta be my favourite episode ever!
I'm sure you're busy with Hagerty's.. Still wouldn't mind seeing another video here. Appreciate your talent
Legend has it that Martin Brundle, of F1 lore, said the rear suspension on the 190E was world-class.
Thanks for sharing the BTS cluster story.
He looks 25 yrs old in this video
I had no idea that's how you acquired that 190E 2.3-16. (insert 90s kid looking from computer to camera with approving thumbs up)
I love looking at the specs sheet where it lists "current value" because now you need to take that number and multiply by 4
M3 Evo II is something else
Motor Trend: You act like your better than me.
Jason Cammisa: I am better than you.

Wow, the days when Adam Sandler had fever gray hairs like his early 20's. Glad to see that today's Jason has much more charisma.
