- Building a Modern End Table // Side Table // Plans Available
In this video, I show you how I built TWO Modern End Tables (the Sophia Collection) out of quarter-sawn white oak, white oak veneer plywood and walnut. These will be used as end tables (or side tables, depending on your preferred nomenclature) in our house, but they would also make great bedside tables. I love the push-to-open drawers which eliminate the need for drawer pulls and add to the sleek and minimalist modern look. The application of Rubio Monocoat really made the grain on the white oak come to life and I look forward to seeing these every day for many years to come. **See link below for downloadable plans to build your own!

I watch these videos and I'm jealous as hell. I couldn't even dream of such tools. Yea I have a jig saw, circ saw, and a router. But other than that, it's all hand planing, chisel work and a sanding block. But I'm not doing 15 minute RUclips vids. Thanks for the dreams tonight.

Wow.. this is like the most number of “Exotic” tools if have ever seen to make a pair of side tables. You have a tool, clamp, etc.. for literally every step of the build, 🤯
What can I say...I love tools!
It's off putting. "Oh look, I just need $15,000 worth of tools and I'm only 2 minutes in"
It's fine for entertainment purposes, it can be enjoyable to watch a pro do their thing, it's the reason things like pro sports exist. But outside of entertainment value, this is useless to anyone who's not a professional.
@@phil2782 the design of the piece is pretty basic so it can all be accomplished with basic tools with some resourcefulness.
Nice work on those side tables. It seem like you went to woodpecker and added the whole store to cart lol. Great video on explaining all steps.

@@tomverleysen5639 I've actually spent 25 years investing in my shop setup - it didn't happen overnight. There are actually many videos on YT that show how to setup shop on a very modest budget. Definitely worth looking into.
"Seasonal wood movement" - does it happen to hardwood and small sizes as well?
The smaller the piece, the less movement you will have. But yes, all woods will expand and contract whether hard or soft. The amount they move is species specific and based on environmental conditions.
The only thing I have ever built is my Ikea office chair, but I love your IG account and now I am really excited to see your videos here on YT. Thank you for sharing your talent and humour!

Keith Johnson Custom Woodworking you can do and use anything you want. Paid or not paid for. It’s a free world (at least the part we live in). But for me its looks to much an advertorial channel for woodpecker and others.
