I'm used to it by now, but man, as a non native English speaker, the first time I heard you say the word Drawer I was like what on earth is she talking about 😅 Awesome project as always, I love the way your brain works. I get inspiration from every video of yours, if not out of the piece itself, then from the clever techniques you use throughout the build!
Looks nice. I've been using melamine for desks for a while. I finish all the edges with hardwood to make it look nice. It is so durable and easy to clean. I also always put recessed outlets with USB into all desks these days.
Hermoso diseño y mejor trabajo. No me canso de decirte que eres una excelente carpintera Tammar! Gracias por compartir y saludos desde Reynosa México!!!
The design and build of this desk is gorgeous!! Your skills are so top notch now and somehow get even better on each piece you make! So happy to see your growth from back in other cold, then hot garage. You have achieved and earned so much over the years. Love it!
No one but a woodworker will notice your mistake...and the several tens of thousands of viewers your video will get. That MFT table looks more and more like a "must have." Thanks for sharing, Tamar.
I am a new wood worker, and I have to say I really enjoy your channel/content. It it very well done and you really make some beautiful stuff. I look forward to all your videos. Happy holidays!
I've made the same mistake with forgetting to set the depth on the domino. We have a couple of nice domino holes at the top of the bathroom vanity I'm finishing up, which fortunately I'm just going to be able to cover with some trim when it's all done. Desk looks fantastic!
Yet another well explained video with a beautiful result, it looks great . You convinced me to get a Domino, and I am still working it out , but it's a great machine to have . Metric is fine. We use it all the time 🙂. Pete Australia 🇦🇺
When I use my Domino with different settings for different parts I like to do every cut operation that is at one set of settings on all parts then switch and do all of the other cut settings. No switching back and fourth means I don't forget to change something. It also means if my height setting is different between sets they are exactly the same for each set of parts.
This desk came out so well. Your design eye is fantastic. Your skills have grown since your early days. You should be very proud. I enjoyed the video very much. I am planning my own desk build and I will steal some of your design decisions. Thank you.
This is legitimately one of the dopest desks I’ve seen! I’ve been looking at building a desk for my office, this is definitely going to be the one I build! Awesome job!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
@3x3CustomTamar it turned out lovely. Don't think of them as mistakes...it's an opportunity to show us how to problem solve...lol. I feel your frustration. At some point I'll be brave like you to record myself. Hopefully I will have your control and grace when, not if, I make mistakes...lol. Since the dominoes were a contrasting colour...you could have done it on purpose for a design element. If you get a sheet of tempered glass for the top...it will give him the option of storing pictures, reminders, charts, etc under the glass for quick reference and you won't have to worry about drink rings... How about a really cool matching bulletin board, white board with a hidden compartment for treats! More shelves but with mirror backgrounds.
When i have a bunch of dominos where i could blow out the other side i pretty trim the 6×40s down. And depending on the application i will also dog ear them to avoid more squeeze and create a little glue well.
in all seriousness, it came out great!! really goes well with the bed, which I also liked a lot when you uploaded it! - and that seems like ages ago seeing how your son has grown, and now I feel super old...
Lol.. when you are so focused, sometimes one forgets the basics, which is to double check our measurements or in this case depth. Another great video, ty
Have you ever tried the CA glue with accelerator trick? I've seen some folks use CA glue with CA glue accelerator alternating with wood glue. The CA glue sets in seconds and acts like a clamp while the wood glue dries.
This desk is beautiful. I think the Marble desk that inspired this looks more like it was just made to be pretty, your version is both attractive and functional. Can you link to the 3D printed panel glue up helpers?
18:10 this part of the vid shows what a masterpiece that workbench is. so handy. envy does not come close to describe what I'm feeling 😂😂 one day I will make my own (with your plans of course 😋)
Very nice looking desk. And remember, it's only a mistake if you can't fix it 😉👍 Oh, and I just love when you say "draw"...brings back memories of early life in New England and watching New Yankee Workshop and This Old House with Norm Abram and Tom Silva. I'm still new to using a Domino, and I'm sure I'll make many of the errors you made (and probably a lot more). All of them will be learning experiences 🤣
Tamarush Shalom. I'm proud of you. When I watch your videos I am shocked. I see what you do with your own hands and I see the result of your work. I will say this, our women have nothing to fear and can do any job. All the best to you and your family, may God protect you.
That's a really neat desk, and I have a question. If domino is 40mm long, why dint you cut it in half? So you can have equal depths on both pieces, and it is over 1/3 into side panel so strenght would not be a problem (even tho glue does more for that)
Good idea to have the promotion part run at the same time you are working (painting) on your project! I actually listened now to the commercial instead of forwarding the video 😂
It would be a lots easier if you just buy IKEA desk and drawers? That's way everything is already pre-drilled for easy assembly 😂😂 Really like how the desk turned out 👍👌
Looks great. A tip from a different another maker related to drawer fronts is to use double sided tape to hold the fronts in place so you can screw them in place. The only person that knows they are there, is you. Check out Bourbon Moth Woodworking if you haven't already.
In the beginning of the video, you open a package containing the wood you would be using for the project. Can you share the cost of that package including shipping?
That office is awesome, great choice of materials and turn out so beautifull . Among others you teach us crisis behaviour, like yelling noooo look at the camera and other moves 😂😂😂 thanks for that also 😂😂
i have two qualms about this channel. I enjoy woodworking videos to chill out and get inspiration - it’s difficult to listen to approximately 5 books full of words in the duration of the video. I would prefer the videos without speech and only listen to the nice tools (I wish I had). The woodworking aspect is really great and I thought of doing multiple of projects for myself but lacked experience, time, space or tools or all of the above 😅. I’m making a coffeetable on my balcony in germany november out of old oakboards, so I‘m not complacent with only watching 😅

They aren’t mistakes. They are subtle uniqueness highlights.
Great build and video. Thank you
Haha yup! Glad you liked it!
Your son must be very lucky and you're the best mother🎉

I’m just here for the ‘draws’. -U10
LoL🤣
Stunning desk, Tamar! Really beautiful work! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you! You too!
Love this. You’re one of my favorite DIY channels. You’re a real pro and inspiration.
Thanks so much 😊
I like how you did those patches, I wouldn't have thought of that. I'm surprised how good it looks.
Drawers..
It was obviously not the first time I’ve had to do this sort of fix. 😂
@3x3CustomTamar my mistakes are usually fixed with a welder & grinder. 😉

There are few greater pleasures than building furniture for our own children. So satisfying!!! Congrats Tamar!
Tamar, you are the best! And you are such an inspiration for me in woodworking world and 3D Printing world. Thank you ❤
Another stunning piece. Thank you for sharing the process with us.
So glad you like it!

So happy I built it before this project!
I like the color combination with the floor. I have the same floor but I was not shure if wallnut would match

really nice desk Tamar and good wood workers know how to cover their mistakes or turn them into features :)
beautiful! impresive thought process.
Thank you very much!

Yeah, that’s what I was doing. I just kept forgetting to change the setting when getting to the next part 😂
Wow looks good, I want one myself!
Beautiful design. Lucky son ,awesome mom.👍
Thanks! He’s super happy.
@3x3CustomTamar your welcome. Wishing you and your family the best of the holiday season
I've been watching 3x3 for years now and I'm happy to see a new video. I really hope to see more uploads.
Thanks
More to come!!
Sick build! Now I’m inspired to improve my carpentry skills 😊

You could cut the shallower domino holes first. If you forget to change the setting in the end grain, it's not a big deal.
That is gorgeous seriously gorgeous
Thanks so much ☺️☺️☺️

You are awesome. I love your videos. Just one guy's tip...don't fast forward so much. Viewers like me would love to see the 'normal speed' version.
8:51 OMG i do this for my table saw with a "check 1/8 offset!"

I like that jig would purchase a 3d print file for sure.
Noted!

You are welcome!
Wanting to make a drafting table/desk for myself, stealing ideas 🤘🏽😜♥️
Good idea to have the promotion part run at the same time you are working (painting) on your project! I actually listened now to the commercial instead of forwarding the video 😂
Haha! Glad you appreciated that!
May I ask where your son's rug is from? I love this desk! Amazing work!!!
Успехов Вам
Could you have cut the 20mm mortises at once and then the 15mm? You would only change the setting once between depths.
"oops I did it again."
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
So annoying 😂
It would be a lots easier if you just buy IKEA desk and drawers? That's way everything is already pre-drilled for easy assembly 😂😂 Really like how the desk turned out 👍👌
Haha, but then my son can’t tell his friends his mom build his desk from scratch 😉
How did you learn/get so good at sketchup?
Looks great. A tip from a different another maker related to drawer fronts is to use double sided tape to hold the fronts in place so you can screw them in place. The only person that knows they are there, is you. Check out Bourbon Moth Woodworking if you haven't already.
I do that as well if there is no access for clamps.
Looks stellar, but this is a desk for writing, not for typing on a computer. It's way too tall for proper ergonomic keyboard use.
5:47 Domi-NOOOO
😂😂😂
Great video, and wow I remember when those smiley faced kids were only knee high and squeaky voiced
Haha they grow up so fast 😂
You should into switch to a folding rule instead of a measuring tape. I find them more accurate.
So they say
I hope you licensed Bourbon Moth's patented hip-thrust domino technique. Don't want him to sue you :P
Is there any other way to do it? 😂
Nice, Tamar.
Bill
Thanks!
Nice desk! How much are you paying for walnut these days? It costs $16+ /bf in Northern CA.
Through domino.... make it a feature!
If the design called for it. I totally would. But felt like this desk needed to stay cleaner
In the beginning of the video, you open a package containing the wood you would be using for the project. Can you share the cost of that package including shipping?
I bought lumber for this project and a few others that I have coming up. So that wouldn’t be helpful.
I feel pretty good not having jumped on the Domino bandwagon. I would have done every bit of that and more!
Just part of the learning process!
Do you sell the peices you make?
Not currently
I could see myself doing that same exact scream… on every project 😅
So frustrating when it happens!!
👍
Tamar, I dont speak english quite well, and missed something, will you tell me please what is the name of pleasent wood of boards? Thanks.
👍great video 🙂
That office is awesome, great choice of materials and turn out so beautifull . Among others you teach us crisis behaviour, like yelling noooo look at the camera and other moves 😂😂😂 thanks for that also 😂😂
Yes, always look at the camera in times of crisis 😂
Let's play a game: Shot for every time Tamar says Domino!
I kid... Great work.
Beautiful desk, now you just need to get him a better chair
Thanks! Ha. He picked it 🤷🏻♀️
well, what would life be without mistakes
I love it when you go all metric on me 😉
😃😃😃
Over here we say "A farrier's mule is always barefoot", but yuuuuuup.
Ha! That’s a good one
"Don't do drugs" haha ! I wish someone had warned me "Don't watch television"
In Portuguese we say: “blacksmith house, wooden skewer …”
Ha! That’s a good one
Italy 👏👏👏👏👍
Hi!!!
You could have made the mistakes a feature. Make it look like you meant it. Like: making a walnut domino and tadaa
That has to be the most 'sterile' teen age room i have ever seen, lol.
LOVE the desk though.
Ha, we’re still in the process of designing it 😂
The draws have the handle away from the side the user sits... Sorry. I can't un-see it. 😵💫
Ok you all got that 1000 dollar domino machine why not use dowels much cheaper and even as effective..
I have used dowels before getting the domino. The domino is much quicker. But to each their own.
Your son should see a doctor ,his head is round ,big and yellow !
😂😂

Ok . Here is a novel idea for you... turn off your sound control.
@ thanks. i‘m doing that. Judt food for thought if tamar gets to see this. nice day
And yet, every time I post a video without a voiceover people get mad… 🤷🏻♀️
@@3x3CustomTamar Your videos are a big inspiration and help to many. You can’t satisfy everyone. Have a nice evening 🤗
The proper "woodworker" solution to your domino depth problem is just buy another domino machine. Thank you.
Obviously. Ha
Why are you hiding your sons face
the center foot beneath the drawers is just asking for trouble. I can imagine the weight of the desk curving the wood in time
That was a concern of mine. Was considering doing a cross piece in the middle. We shall see…
@3x3CustomTamar well it is fixable if it does happen. All the best
