    Awesome Q and A. I'm a sonographer looking at adding MRI. I feel like all modalities have their stress levels. MRI has been really calling me-think i may take the plunge 😀

      Yes this is true. Any job no matter what you do will come with pros and cons. But anything in healthcare imo is stressful somehow. There will be good days but also bad just like with any profession. No perfect job, but you have to love what you do!

    Thanks so much for sharing! Are you a travel tech or a staff tech? Also, what advice would you give for someone who’s starting MRI physics? Currently enrolled at CNI college in Santa Ana

    • @MimiLe
      @MimiLe  6 месяцев назад +3

      I am a staff tech. & you have to connect what you're learning in school to when you're scanning. So when you're at clinical try to put the 2 together it will help you understand a lot of it. Know what parameters increase, decrease, and have no change. Try to not just memorize, but to fully understand it as well because it'll make more sense for you.

    • @MimiLe

      Nope never had interest in being a travel tech. Lifestyle is not for me but I know a few people who do it and love it. One of my old clinical students is on an assignment right now straight out of school as well.

      Changing jobs all the time. Going to different locations/areas/states. Dealing with an agency/finding a good agency. I like a stable and consistent schedule. If you’re single and young it might be worth looking into once you gain enough skills because when you go to these contracts they’re going to expect you to know what you’re doing with very little training.

    How stressful is it being an MRI Tech. I am thinking about going to school for this but I wonder how physically demanding it is. Is MRI Tech same a mammography technologist.

    Is the pay good? And what are all your credentials and do you think having ct too would help negotiate more pay or not really

    • @MimiLe

      Depends where you work tbh. Every hospital, clinic, state is different. I live in California so pay will always be high.

    Can you shed some light on the following? How's one to get CRT with AARP (MR) only? Looks like CRT is required for employment in CA even for MRI only?

    • @MimiLe
      @MimiLe  2 месяца назад +1

      It just Kaiser that really requires it in CA. You need to do XR first. I just filmed a get ready with me talking about XR to MR vs MR only. Need to edit but it I’ll be up soon. I live in CA and I only have MR, never had an issue finding a job and I’ve had a few jobs already.

      Rad tech so you can cross train and get paid more!

    • @MimiLe
      @MimiLe  3 месяца назад +6

      Honestly it depends. What are you interested in? Do you care to do XR and MR at the same time? Cross training isn’t guaranteed at a workplace so you’d have to find a spot that will train you. Are you willing to take multiple ARRT exams to be licensed and keep up with CEs? With MR you will not be likely to float around and do XR here and an MR patient there because MR takes longer vs CT and XR. Where I work you don’t float around and they do not cross train into MR. Just a few things to consider. Def do some more research to make sure you do exactly what you want to do and what works for you.
