Corey Taylor is acutally a GIFTED singer... He also is the frontsinger of Stone Sour (Through the glass f.e.). He can scream, but he also can sing in a melodic, beautiful voice with A LOT of emotions.
This is actually one of their more commercial hits during their middle period 😂 Early Slipknot is far more aggressive and raw, songs like SIC, Eyeless, Disasterpiece, People = Shit, Heretic Anthem (and many more classics!) Of late they have gone back to the aggression, albeit the band sounds more polished - Nero Forte, Unsainted, Solway Firth, The Dying Song. Singer Corey Taylor sings in Slipknot, Stone Sour and tours solo - his accoustic version of SNs 'Snuff' is a tear jerker when you read the background of it Enjoy this rabbit hole!
Unsainted is a GREAT song and one of my favs by them, but is less aggressive (more like Subliminal verses) than for example, other great song like Birth of the cruel. For me one of their very best is Left behind (and is the song and -cool- video with which i know them back in 2001).
"Is the band always like this?" I'd say this is one of their more digestible entry songs lol. They get more intense. They also change their masks with every new album hence the different looks Corey is rocking in the thumbnails at the end.
i remember corey taylor mentioning how he hates this album. not cause of Pauls death. he just said it made him feel angry for releasing this album cause it felt rushed.
When I see younger people react to this era of Slipknot like it's the most hardest thing ever, I just think "Oh god just the first 3 lines of Disasterpiece will give you a heart attack."
@@VaporeonEnjoyer1well I mean everyone has to start somewhere I remember I first heard this song in a music vc in some discord server years ago I thought it was too heavy for my tastes (I was just getting into classic rock at the time) I ended up rediscovering it a few years later and immediately loved it and yes disasterpiece was definitely…an experience to say the least. But I grew to love it and ive been listening to it this whole month. If you have any more suggestions from them I would love to hear them I already know the most popular ones and a couple newer ones
Fuck me, Iowa is far beyond what they've produced since, intensity wise. Disasterpiece, New Abortion, Heretic Anthem for starters. Their self titled has the raw, unpolished aggression that's still my equal favourite with Iowa. I generally love all their stuff though, and at least the latest work is somewhat leaning towards the earlier days again.
I have an awesome story involving Corey Taylor (singer). Back when they first started becoming popular they toured the second stage at Ozzfest. I had never heard them, or seen them before. Well, I was just getting over having the flu real, REAL bad at the time and was still needing to run to the bathroom pretty frequently for various combinations of #1 and #2. About half-way through the concert I had to go REALLY bad, but the line was just too long. I knew that If I went to the porta-potties outside of the gate that I wouldn't be let back in, but, I refused to have an accident or get kicked out for squatting somewhere so I sadly accepted my fate and porta-pottied it up. As I was walking out the gate the security guy was talking to a man in a ugly black jumpsuit with some weird tentacles hanging out of a pocket. Both of them saw me speedwalking out and started laughing at me and telling me to run. I just laughed it off. Once I was finished I decided I would just sit near the gate and listen to the show from there. When i got halfway back, Mr. Tentacle pockets called me over and asked what I was going to do, so, I explained my plan and he said "No you're not" then turned the security guy and said "He's coming with me". Security guy didn't argue. He walked with me for a few minutes, asked me who I was there to see, then said he had to go. I thanked him for getting me back in, shook his hand and went back to watch the rest of the third and second stage shows. About an hour later the second stage announced the headling band, which was Slipknot. I knew I had an awesome story to tell right away when I saw that ugly black jumpsuit walk onto the stage: Corey Taylor from Slipknot got me back into OZZFEST after suffering the flu-shits in a porta-potty!!!

The beautiful thing about Slipknot is ... that every song is now a classic hit. About 15 years I listen to their music and every-time it gives me the same shivers.
I feel like a song people ignore is Dead Memories from them. It's definitely a more "commercial" song, but it is amazing to see the variety this band can create and the mastery they have of their music.
Child of Burning Time from that same album is super slept on too and personally my favorite of their more chill songs on that album. Good song to show to first timers!
I've been a maggot since 99. I consider Slipknot to be Horror rock. Love the fun they have with the masks. You should check out The Devil in I. It's horrifically terrific!
The sad part is, 2 out of the 9 members in this video has deceased. Paul Gray, bassist, in 2010, and Joey Jordison, drummer, in 2021. I'd say Joey's departure really changed their music, Paul wasn't so big of an effect musicwise, however he left a big mark on them as a person instead. There is a video where Corey gets Paul's mask tattoed on his leg, quite an emotional video
3:57 its called fry vocal. Its very different in technique than growl vocals. Super hard for me specifically, but some have a harder time with growl vocals.
Just saw their show last month and it was freaking spectacular. They’re a spectacle, that’s kinda their thing. Like complete kaos mixed beautifully with perfect harmony.
Each member changes masks for every album but generally each member has their own theme they stick to, but there's also 9 members so if you don't know who's who it's easy to mix up who you saw where, especially when there's multiple percussionists on different styles of "instruments" (yes clown is playing a keg with a baseball bat)
PS - Corey has an 8 octave range I read! Backing singers are Clown (Shaun) and Pinnochio Nose (Chris - now left the band) They change masks generally for each album
it definitely isn't an 8 octave range wtf 😂i love Corey but he has a 3 octave range at best. very very few singers in history have even had as many as 5
"Taylor was also found, by VVN Music, to possess the second-highest vocal range of any known singer in popular music with a range of 5 and a half octaves." super simple google search my guys. He does indeed have an incredible range.
If that is true, he’s never utilized it which seems ridiculous. He uses such a wide range of vocal techniques yet never though to employ a range that is extremely rare. Sounds a little fishy to me.
Corey doubtfully has 5 I think 3 is more likely. If you want to hear a true 5 octave range listen to Geoff Castellucci. His version of Black bird really shows what 5 octaves sounds like.
@@Fenthule yeah, it's been well known for a while his range exceeds 5 octaves, it's confirmed to be 5 and a half. It's incredibly impressive, but there have been plenty of artists to have such a range. Bass singers are really low, but they have virtually no high end unless super talented, opposite goes for high singers, so to have such a range as a metal vocalist is wicked.
With Slipknot, each album is like a new chapter in a book each album gets new mask to go with that. Their album No.5 The Grey Chapter was in dedication to their late bassist Paul Grey. The lead singer Corey Taylor also fronts the band Stone Sour. You might like to check that band out as well. Slipknot's latest album The End For Now marks their final album with Roadrunner Records. Can't wait to see what label they sign with for their next album, I have a feeling it might be with either Century or Napalm
If they go with Napalm, I have a feeling the next album will be as brutal as Iowa. Maybe not as hard hitting/emotional, but as far as the brutality goes.
I would love to see you react to Duality from them 😂. Lot of different vocals and a really intense and awesome song, also, the faces you make when a good guitar solo hits... no price 👌😂
Now imagine liking this song so much that tonight I watched your reaction video for the first time, but I've easily listened to this song a thousand times since first hearing it.
The masks have been a part of the band since the very begining and have evolved for each member, but each pretty much stick to a general theme as the years have passed but they don't swap masks between members. 'Wait and bleed' is one of thier first big hits if u are looking for suggestions.
One of the few bands I still like since I was around 13 over 20 years ago. There aren't so many costume changes as there are 9 people in the band and they don't show all of them in any one shot in the video.
Slipknot is from the city I live in Des Moines Iowa and most of their videos are filmed in the area. They have a music festival called Knotfest and Slipknot fans are called Maggots 🤘
Corry Taylor is one of the top 5 metal vocalists of all time. Listen another songs of him , react to a song called Snuff, acoustic version, and you will see his ability as a vocalist.
Every time they come out with a new album they change their masks and ideas The reason they wore the mass at the beginning is so you couldn't recognize them as humans outside of the real world when you're in a grocery store and you're standing right next to lead singer and you don't even know it lol❤ And this music videos considered PG in my eyes if you want something more more more interesting I dare you to watch The devil in I😊 Then if you want some live stuff London 2002 live disasterpiece the song if you want super intense old school more intense vocals no pretty vocals no boy band vocals enjoy
Joey's (the drummer) mask doesn't change just the outer dress. Clown actually beats on a beer keg. Yes, Slipknot always looks like this. The masks change from album to album but almost always a variation of the previous version. 3 percussionists, keyboard player, dj, plus what would be considered the normal type of lineup for a metal band. You should read the lyrics for their songs as they are quite articulate and intelligent. Overall, a unique band.
@@markblalock6579 Joey left in 2013 because they thought he was messed up on drugs when in reality he had a nerve disorder and didn't allow him to play drums
if you want them without horror their normal project is called "stone sour". but I believe only 1 other slipknot member besides the singer corey taylor is in it. saw him live once and his vocals are so beautiful. if he wants to sing soft and clear he can do that, one of my favorite male voices. // 5:55 that face xD
the drummer (joey jordison) was wearing a mask called the 83 ceaser mask that he has modified to his liking that was the same mask he wore the entire video, but due to the speed of the camera changing it looks like there changing mask :)
Belter of a tune, I remember hearing this in high school when it came out. By the way, if you ever want to go heavier than this, check out the pain remains trilogy by lorna shore. Great introduction to the heavier side of music, but the message of the song is still moving enough to capture your attention. If you do, make sure you watch the official videos and have the lyrics pulled up somewhere to follow along.
Hands down one of the grestest bands to ever grace this earth. Going on almost 30 years strong. Corey Taylor is undoubtaly one of the greatest singers EVER. You have to check out his other band Stone Sour to really hear is clean side. As a matter of fact many of the members have side projects. The one guitarist that played the solo is actually the guitarist with Corey Taylor in Stone Sour. The drummer that was in this video, Joey Jordison (RIP), was a guitarist in the band Murderdolls. The DJ has a solo project known as DJ Starscream. If you enjoyed this song even a little bit, this is a wonderful rabbit hole to fall into Slipknot - Left Behind, Pulse of the Maggots (Slipknot fans are known as maggots), If Rain is What you Want, Nero Forte, Unsainted Stone Sour - Bother, Absolute Zero, Made of Scars, Say You'll Haunt Me, Do Me a Favor Murderdolls - 197666, Summertime Suicide, Rock and Roll is All I Got, Death Valley Superstars, Chapel of Blood

It's incredibly impressive, but there have been plenty of artists to have such a range. Bass singers are really low, but they have virtually no high end unless super talented, opposite goes for high singers, so to have such a range as a metal vocalist is wicked.
“Who are you calling pinhead” iykyk 😂😂
I love this band, and it takes sooo much skill to play music like this.
The reason Corey taylor sing better than most metal vocalist is because he is originally a singer before he learn how to scream
I love your use of past tense. 🤘🏿
Well, the reason is he's fucking talented.. Thats just an interesting factoid lol...
Perfeita definição.
When Corey Taylor changes his voice, everyone has that expression hahaha 2:23
With Slipknot, each album is like a new chapter in a book each album gets new mask to go with that. Their album No.5 The Grey Chapter was in dedication to their late bassist Paul Grey. The lead singer Corey Taylor also fronts the band Stone Sour. You might like to check that band out as well. Slipknot's latest album The End For Now marks their final album with Roadrunner Records. Can't wait to see what label they sign with for their next album, I have a feeling it might be with either Century or Napalm
I'm hoping for Napalm personally.
Dang! The most gorgeous reactor I've seen!
The masks have been a part of the band since the very begining and have evolved for each member, but each pretty much stick to a general theme as the years have passed but they don't swap masks between members. 'Wait and bleed' is one of thier first big hits if u are looking for suggestions.
Please check out more Slipknot!
Here are a few tracks worth checking out 🔥
- Vermilion
- Nero Forte
- Spit it out (Live at Download Festival 2009)
Vermilion is an underrated gem.
Spit it out's maybe too far
@@srg8097your right she should listen to the heretic anthem instead
One of the few bands I still like since I was around 13 over 20 years ago. There aren't so many costume changes as there are 9 people in the band and they don't show all of them in any one shot in the video.
"What's happening?" 😭🤣
That's adorable.. ☺️
Slipknot is from the city I live in Des Moines Iowa and most of their videos are filmed in the area. They have a music festival called Knotfest and Slipknot fans are called Maggots 🤘
This is one of my favorite Slipknot songs 🤘
The energy this song carries is off the charts!
1:30 didnt even realize there were a couple frames of roadkill in this video lmao
Not a true fan 😭 (jk)
0:30 Im already giggeling.
been holding my laugh in the first few seconds of your commentary. Welcome to slipknot!
The music is so good my head is flying🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Corry Taylor is one of the top 5 metal vocalists of all time. Listen another songs of him , react to a song called Snuff, acoustic version, and you will see his ability as a vocalist.
No
Every time they come out with a new album they change their masks and ideas The reason they wore the mass at the beginning is so you couldn't recognize them as humans outside of the real world when you're in a grocery store and you're standing right next to lead singer and you don't even know it lol❤
And this music videos considered PG in my eyes if you want something more more more interesting I dare you to watch The devil in I😊
Then if you want some live stuff London 2002 live disasterpiece the song if you want super intense old school more intense vocals no pretty vocals no boy band vocals enjoy
1:37 hahaha Do you see the "Devil in I"'s clip ?
Metal lover over here... from CBA ARGENTINA....
I have ALWAYS seen slipknot live every time they come to Aus. Haven't missed a gig since 2002. This is a pretty tame song
Joey was the drummer on AHIG
that was Joey not Jay but they do look a like when they are wearing their mask to be honest
Couldn't remember when Joey left exactly.
@@markblalock6579 Joey left in 2013 because they thought he was messed up on drugs when in reality he had a nerve disorder and didn't allow him to play drums
chris is on the keg, clown plays the larger drums live but in the video it's timpani
if you want them without horror their normal project is called "stone sour". but I believe only 1 other slipknot member besides the singer corey taylor is in it. saw him live once and his vocals are so beautiful. if he wants to sing soft and clear he can do that, one of my favorite male voices. // 5:55 that face xD
Jim Root was part of Stone Sour for a while. I don’t believe he was in later iterations of the band.
I love Psychosocial, but your reaction of what is happening? Is priceless. Looking forward to seeing more of your content.
anything from the first 2 albums is stupidly heavy and the energy is unreal you should check out more
I laughed,, I love your reactions. Priceless.
the drummer (joey jordison) was wearing a mask called the 83 ceaser mask that he has modified to his liking that was the same mask he wore the entire video, but due to the speed of the camera changing it looks like there changing mask :)
06:20
No, they don't keep changing outfits. There are 9 individuals.
Belter of a tune, I remember hearing this in high school when it came out.
By the way, if you ever want to go heavier than this, check out the pain remains trilogy by lorna shore. Great introduction to the heavier side of music, but the message of the song is still moving enough to capture your attention.
If you do, make sure you watch the official videos and have the lyrics pulled up somewhere to follow along.
the vocals of Corey is like from hell to heaven and way back 👿😇.
"Pinhead on the drums" i lost it 😂
Craig jones does give me pinhead vibes with his iowa mask 🤘🏻
I love watching someone new to metal and the first thing they do without realizing it is head banging just like at 0:55. It makes me smile
If you enjoyed this song even a little bit, this is a wonderful rabbit hole to fall into
Slipknot - Left Behind, Pulse of the Maggots (Slipknot fans are known as maggots), If Rain is What you Want, Nero Forte, Unsainted
Stone Sour - Bother, Absolute Zero, Made of Scars, Say You'll Haunt Me, Do Me a Favor
Murderdolls - 197666, Summertime Suicide, Rock and Roll is All I Got, Death Valley Superstars, Chapel of Blood
Don't forget that Joey was also in Scar the Martyr, which he also helmed the drums for that band too. Sadly they only had the 1 album, self titled.
@@MykSShadow I hate to say that I totally forgot about them. They were great also but so short lived
The live acoustic version of snuff would be an amazing reaction video
This is probably one of my favourite songs from the *All Hope Is Gone* album and the CD booklet was absolutely awesome 🖤🤘
Well that was an reaction-video that i did not expect.😂. You look so calm, sweet and easygoing . And then seeing you react with wide eyes, quirky little smiles and eyebrow lifts that tells me you where enjoying Slipknot😁. Your reaction into Slipknot energy and music... PRICELESS... I think you would enjoy a live show of them
Welcome to Slipknot. Yes they are usually this way
🤣🤣🤣
Obrigado por reagir a minha banda favorita ❤
Slipknot é outro nível
Corey is so ambitious. I saw them live in Berlin and his voice was not 100%, he was pissed :D
Edit: Seeing Joey and Paul...RIP!
Love that first pause with perfect road kill image timing 😂
Glad to find a react channel that doesn't talk the majority of the video just actual reactions. Much appreciated.
Uh yes it's normal to them and they are amazing for it 1:53
She looks too innocent to react to this lmao
She looks so uncomfortable.
She looks like she's used to sunshine and rainbow music lol
I love how she’s low key getting into it towards the end. Yeah, she digs it!
Shout out to the litterall biggest slipknot fans who graced this earth, Baker and toogs. Sadly lost this year, my 2 best friends. Baker and toogood watched slipknot live countless times, me only twice funnily enough, r.i.p lads, I love you.x
*4:19** pinhead*
Snuff acoustic version ..lead singer solo .
I find it interesting that you don't know who they are for. they are and have been since their start. one of the biggest bands the world has ever seen. they're brilliant. rest in peace, paul and Joey
I said before she listened to the song “you have to emotionally brace yourself for this rollercoaster of a band” and I love slipknot
"Is that man just hitting a barrel?!" 😂
Yes. Yes, he is. And we love him for it.
