Hey y'all! I don't know how I missed that he is still with Slipknot! I can't remember my sourcing but I will definitely have to double check going forward. My apologies! 🫂
Its okay. Dont worry. I hope you will enjoy more in slipknot. Also a live performance of them especially spit it out song at download 2009. They have the best concerts. Also one of the most unified fans. Much love to your work and keep going!
A few minor things. Corey is still the singer of Slipknot. He ALMOST left, but is still with the band. Also, the reason this song is difficult for him isnt because of the lyrical content or the original reason he wrote it ( its about his divorce) The reason the song is painful for him is because its become a bit of a tribute to Paul Gray, the bassist for Slipknot who overdosed and died in 2010. Paul pushed for Corey to include the song on their album.
Just one thing to add to this, there are a few videos out there of him having to restart playing this song because he's started to cry in the middle of it so to say it's a hard song for him to perform is a bit of an understatement
So, this song has a double meaning to Corey. It was initially written about the divorce that he was going through during a very dark period of his life. It was also the last major song that Corey worked on with the bassist Paul before he passed away.
one of the best parts of this is the random guy in the audience filling in for him when he was getting a bit emotional with that ooooooooooooohhhhhooooohhh bit, sang it perfectly.
This song and specifically this version is so powerful because it means so many different things to so many people. It is so versatile yet so specific at the same time. The emotion he delivers each word with speaks to how much the song not only means to him but also how much it means to every single fan. Truly phenomenal.
Explanation for the song. So when Corey made it it was about him and his ex wife. He was a little angry that it was all over and that what happened happened but more of him was glad she was gone, glad he couldn't hurt her anymore. "So throw yourself against my stones and spit your pity in my soul" "I don't deserve to have you" was him not wanting any sympathy or any other chances in the relationship and him knowing he didn't deserve her. "I can't destroy what isn't there" is him knowing even if he's still in pain and still angry at least she isn't there to suffer, she's free. But then soon after the song the bassist Paul Gray died from an overdose and the whole band was at a loss and mourning. So the song became his tribute. I know a rough explanation I just can't remember the whole story
I've seen this live, and it is a very raw and emotional song. Corey and Paul were super close. Like brothers. Paul was a main contributor to the material Slipknot put out. When Corey wrote this, he took it to Paul, and Paul loved it. "Really, if Paul hadn’t championed that song, I don’t think we would have recorded it. But he loved it and saw the potential with it and really wanted us to do it. So now when I play it during my solo shows, that’s who that’s for. I try to do it as well as I can." That, along with Gehanna were the two songs that I instantly gravitated to when that album dropped.
Corey is a legend. Yes he's still in Slipknot and he's always had another rock band called Stone Sour where they don't where masks or anything plus he does this solo stuff to. FYI this is actually a slipknot song they just started playing it live this last year on the tour for their new album. Corey just released a new solo song to called Beyond that's really good. One more thing haha the kids of members of slipknot have a band now that's kind of blowing up but they are very young. Corey Taylor's son is the singer
For me, this is always a very special performance to watch. Not only is Corey pouring his heart into it, but you can hear the audience pouring themselves back into him. Even watching it years later thru my phone I still feel cathartic for the shared experience of pain and regret..
This song , the acoustic version of this hits close to home with me. I've had some really dark times and a really heart breaking relationship that left me in darkness for a long time. Music like this helps me express my emotions. Any artist that puts their heart and soul into songs like this are a gift to the world. The pain and the sadness in this song , anyone who has been troubled can possibly relate.
I dont know why. But everytime I hear this version. It fucking breaks me. It's the way he sings it, the lyrics, the crowd and personally so strongly relating to this. Dam. Wow
Story of the song from wikipedia: "This is the slow one. It's another personal one. Again, not naming names, it's about someone who helped me through a lot and I thought she felt the same way that I did and then she really let me down. At the same time, it was good that she did, because it was that final push to me figuring out myself. The lyrics are pretty self-explanatory." - Corey Taylor Also it became kinda of tribute for Paul Gray, basist of slipknot who died 2010 from overdose. Love your reactions, keep them coming. =) Greetings from Finland.
Like many others mentioned, this song has become a tribute to Paul Gray, the original bassist. If my memory serves me correctly, Paul was one of Corey’s childhood friends, which was why his death hit Corey particularly hard. There was an episode of Inked that aired a year or two after Paul’s death where Corey got a tattoo in memory of him and he was sobbing the whole time telling stories about his friend, and what that particular tattoo meant to him. It was incredibly moving and is the first time in my memory where the stage persona of a celebrity was lifted away to show his true humanity. Since then, Corey has ascended to another level professionally where he is more transparent than he used to be with who he is as a person. The original reason behind the masks was anonymity- he didn’t want the general public to know who they really were or what they looked like, but that all changed after Paul passed away and I like how slipknot has followed suit with Corey in that regard. It’s like the unmasking of slipknot is an ongoing tribute to their friend, while at the same time still using the masks to stay true to the memory of Paul for the fans. Truly powerful stuff.
i hate emotions but also not afraid to admit this version of the song gets me every time , its the facial expressions and seeing even the great corey taylor on the verge of breaking down and the fact that every single person in that crowd is showing support and lifting him up by singing along with him and it sounds amazing!
The reason why this song is so heavy for Corey is because this song came out on the album All Hope Is Gone at the insistence of the band's bassist, he insisted on recording it and adding it to the album because he said it was great, the following year After the album came out the bassist died, leaving Corey and the entire band devastated. and that song started to remind him of Paul Gray, that's why it's so heavy for him...I'm Slipknot fan, this band made me a better person and saved me on many situations... I'm a Maggot!!!
It's originally about a past relationship of his. The reason it became a very heavy/difficult song for him to perform is that it was the last song he and Slipknot's bassist, Paul Gray, wrote before Paul's death. It's off their "All Hope is Gone" album. I believe it fell out of Slipknot's setlists for quite some time. Not 100% but I think their recent tour of a year or two ago was the first time in awhile they had it back in for every show.
This band for me was huge life saver. Listening and playing along to these songs released so much built up rage and depression and past abuse that was weighing on me so much. The community is amazing everyone picks each other up and look out for each other. Some of the best times of my life were in a pit getting smacked across the face by a friend and hugging it out right away because shit happens. I have a fat slipknot “S” on my forearm. Never have i ever regretted getting this tattoo and every time i look at it i smile and remember how the toughest of times are behind me.
beatiful song, recently ive been listening to it a lot. I prefer accoustic version to the original one, especially bcs you can see the emotions in corey. Vermilion pt2 is very similar to this one, and imo even better.
That song especially that particular performance gives me goosebumps every time. It is so special when someone can stand alone with their guitar and voice and take you on an emotional rollercoaster like that.
Corey Taylor is simply an amazing wordsmith. Couple that with a voice that can deliver them makes him one of the best. His solo works, Slipknot, and Stone Sour all have various energies and tones, range, and from spoken word to pure yells/growls. If you liked this, check out Bother or Omega from Stone Sour. Some of his first work with them. Omega is very interesting for what it is. That said, Snuff hits hard, especially for "relationship troubled men". It's an anthem men can latch onto because it really tells the full scope of male emotions and thoughts when losing a perspective "forever" person. The last line seals it. This album dropped around my first divorce and this song has and forever will resonate that moment.
Slipnot, Stone Sour, Solo, whatever else he feels like this week. NO MATTER what, it's talented, thought out and will blow your mind. Even if it's just an interview with a top reporter, he'll BLOW THEIR MIND too. VERY RARE individual indeed. Most importantly, he's made it through his twenties, unlike so many others. NOW, let US ALL LEAVE HIM ALONE so he stays WITH us!!! If HE reaches out AWESOME!!! If not, don't push. PERIOD!!
So as many have said he never left Slipknot. He is the lead singer of Stone Sour and has also started a solo career the first album being CMFT and the next one CMF2 coming in September. He also does a lot of features work with other artist. He does back up vocals on Steel Panthers Death to all but Metal, and Falling in Reverse Drugs. As for Snuff in Corey's own words this is what the song is about. This is the slow one. It's another personal one. Again, not naming names, it's about someone who helped me through a lot and I thought she felt the same way that I did and then she really let me down. At the same time, it was good that she did, because it was that final push to me figuring out myself. The lyrics are pretty self-explanatory.COREY TAYLOR[1]. Love the reactions you're making please don't ever stop.
To clear up some things: Corey is still very much active with Slipknot! Always has been their frontman vocalist and I'm pretty sure it'll stay that way. They're actually on their "The End, So Far" World Tour at the moment, as far as I know. This song was originally released on Slipknots 2008 Album "All Hope Is Gone" and while that original version still had a certain focus on the acoustic guitar in the beginning, it also featured some heavier electric guitars and drums later down the line. It's a very emotionally charged rock ballad that has a special place in my heart. I love both versions. Enjoyed the reaction!
I am very happy to say that he has not left Slipknot. He is just a really incredibly busy man with his solo project as well as his other band Stone Sour. Incredibly talented man and my favorite vocalist of all time.
This song is so heavy for me because I lost my brother and sister to drug od, and a big reason this song is hard for Corey like he said is because he sings it in dedication to this lifelong friend and fellow Slipknot band member Paul Gray who they are lost to drugs also
I absolutely Love the acoustic version of this song. The album version adds a whole another Element to the song with the full instrumental behind the vocals. Definitely worth listening to at some point as well.
corey is a beast, him and chester dominated their years, please dig into linkin park, given up 2007 live in clarkston, faint rock am ring 2007 and rolling in the deep cover itunes 2011 are good choices
This song hits a nerve for me. I think of my mom, who was abusive in my childhood. Our relationship has always been strained because of that. It straight up is how I felt. You care about a person but when they hurt you in ways that are lasting, its hard not to feel angry. Its a beautiful song, showing how it feels to be deeply hurt by something that you care about. "it took the death of hope to let you go" is the heartbreaking part. I had to let go of the mother and son relationship to not hurt anymore. I had to let go, and it was really hard, but I had to. Letting go of hope is a dark and horrible thing even when its for the betterment of your life.
My dude. My mom was on meth and even after her being sober for some years now. I can't bring myself to get around the absence and abuse. I honestly don't know when it turned but at some point it hit and I had to disconnect. The harsh reality of life hit and I made myself who I am. This song reminds me of the pain mixed with the love I wish I had. All that I or anyone else can do is move forward and better the world.
I remember being at this gig. There wasn't a dry eye in the place. Snuff has to be the most iconic slipknot song and Corey's acoustic version made it more heartfelt and really added way more emotion to it.
When he looks up he looks to the dead bassist from Slipknot Paul Gray. He was one of Coreys best friends. He passed away while Slipknot were touring with their album Al Hope Is Gone . And one of the songs from the album is snuff so... maybe you understand.
Rachel great job with your reaction and thoughts on the live acoustic performance of Snuff from Corey Taylor. This song about a band member who passed away from a drug overdose from his band Slipknot and one of his x girlfriends. My favorite verse is Angles lie to keep control.
I like this acoustic version, but I prefer the studio version, because the instrumentals make quite a different, and also I love the imagery and story telling of the music video.
I smiled so much watching this, what an absolutely beautiful human inside and out. You radiate positivity and those types of people are treasures to this nasty world. In the least creepy way possible I would do anything to have someone like you 😂
Corey is still the lead singer of Slipknot. He's always had his side projects such as Stone, sour, and CMFT, but he's still very much the front man for Slipknot
Some others have already mentioned Corey x Slipknot already so i won't here but this song definitely has a duality to it for sure, one being about what happened to him (a divorce i think?) and two a tribute to Paul, one of the founding members of Slipknot. If you like this style of Corey i'd definitely recommend checking out songs from his other band Stone Sour, the top ones i can recommend are definitely Through Glass, Song #3 either Studio or Acoustic (though i love the acoustic more) and Bother! As always, stellar reaction Rachel!
This song resonates with me so much I hurt someone I cared about so much and there no longer with me and ever since then I have been by myself cause I never want to hurt somebody like that again
He never left, he just has side projects. This is actually a Slipknot song,! From their fourth album, All Hope Is Lost, the same album that had Psychosocial. Corey Taylor has several side projects outside of Slipknot, he has his solo stuff, and the band Stone Sour
Used to? mmm nope. 😄 Corey is to this day the frontman of slipknot. He just has some side projects (his other band stone sour and a solo project where he does solo presentations like this one)... this one is a slipknot song from the All Hope is Gone album, just an acoustic version of it. The "Hated" on the background if im not mistaken its just the name of this solo tour he was doing. Very nice reaction as always! 🙌😄
love his voice. I wonder if you know "through the glass" by his band stone sour. with 90million views maybe youve heard it. also deep lyrics combined with his softer voice. he is still part of slipknot and stone sour.
That’s one reason why they initially wore the masks & had numbers rather than names so that way the music would be the main focus. But once he & the original guitar player showed their faces in the other band stone sour a few years later all bets were more or less off lol. I think the very first time they all showed their faces publicly, & simultaneously was whenever they were all together at the press conference after Paul Grey’s death unless I’m mistaken.
Still in slipknot. They just dont need to tour as much as they did. Taylor is jist all about music. Stone Sour, SlipKnot, solo stuff and now CMFT. Busy guy
Listening to a woman react to this should be eye-opening for men. The eye rolling when describing him showing emotion while singing was extra special. 🎉
Corey taylor writes that song when he divorced first time but now that song have a special meaning for Corey for Paul, Paul was love that song, writed by corey alone for the álbum all hope is gone.
You should watch the official video as well. It’s a nice peace of theatre. And the reason Corey is by himself in this is because he loves to dabble in lots of side projects, he was also lead singer of Stone Sour which was more popular than slipknot for a time.
Coming a bit late to this reaction but it was nice to watch, I like watching reactions from people who actually feel the music, and the lyrics, and try to explain what is that it makes them feel, and not just say nice things about the song and that's it. If you like this kind of "simple" music, meaning acoustic songs or acoustic version of songs, I recommend you listen to "The White Buffalo - The Whistler Live at Guitar Center", it's not the same kind of music ofc, but I think that version of the song would also like you if you liked this song. Thanks for your reactions, as I said it's awesome to find people who shares the same passion for music :)
You are hitting my Top EMOTIONAL live performances of all time... This one, Black from Peral Jam... but the number one is without a doubt Lara Fabian's "Je Suis Malade", like I suggested for you in the Black reaction video comments, so right after that one you do this, so Ray, you HAVE to do Lara's song!! Please!! (the 1999 live version)
He didn’t leave slipknot, this song is actually a slipknot song, he just happens to do it in his solo tours… There are shows where Corey breaks down crying playing this song, sometimes it’s dedicated to Paul Gray (Slipkots bassist).. it was their last single that they recorded with Paul as their bassist, and since then Corey had played this song in tribute to Paul, and and has even broken down in tears during the performance of this song because of the pain he felt due to Paul’s passing.. All of Corey’s singing, from the most guttural screams from the Iowa era, to this melodic masterpiece comes from Corey’s pain from past events and his life…
Hey y'all! I don't know how I missed that he is still with Slipknot! I can't remember my sourcing but I will definitely have to double check going forward. My apologies! 🫂

No worries. If anything, this proves to us that you're on an authentic musical journey and are open and willing to learn more, and that's pretty cool.
You got to do some Mushroomhead reactions, the band will blow your mind
Ya, when you said that i was like what? and i double checked he was still with Slipknot.
Corey was never exclusive with Slipknot. He has always had other groups and other projects.

And as far as slipknot goes, to this point (and maybe even to this day) it's the only truly slow song they've done, even with full band playing.

Snuff is a slipknot song. This was for his book tour where he would take questions from the audience and play an acoustic set
I was about to comment the same thing. Thanks for beating me to it lol
As soon as Corey starts singing, everyone's face does the same thing. The smile falls and you see the gravity of his voice hit home.
one of the best parts of this is the random guy in the audience filling in for him when he was getting a bit emotional with that ooooooooooooohhhhhooooohhh bit, sang it perfectly.

- Corey Taylor
Also it became kinda of tribute for Paul Gray, basist of slipknot who died 2010 from overdose.

It is the best song (even if it's just a "version"). One cannot simply choose how it feels sometimes...
The reason why this song is so heavy for Corey is because this song came out on the album All Hope Is Gone at the insistence of the band's bassist, he insisted on recording it and adding it to the album because he said it was great, the following year After the album came out the bassist died, leaving Corey and the entire band devastated.

This song is so heavy for me because I lost my brother and sister to drug od, and a big reason this song is hard for Corey like he said is because he sings it in dedication to this lifelong friend and fellow Slipknot band member Paul Gray who they are lost to drugs also
This song always brings a tear
Can’t wait for this one.
Corey Taylor is such a legend... My favorite singer since 1999
This song hits a nerve for me.
Slipknot, Stone Sour and his own show like in this video. The dude just keeps proving what a performer he is
His side projects are amazing , a new song of his recently dropped its called beyond , Corey is an amazing singer
Corey is so talented. I remember when people said slipknot would never make it.
I just love this version so badly.
One of the best songs of Slipknot ❤
Very much still in the band, seen them Sunday and they played this masterpiece
I get goosebumps everytime I listen to this song I love it
It's September 18, 2023 still listening to SlipKnot. I wish I could lived more
Rachel great job with your reaction and thoughts on the live acoustic performance of Snuff from Corey Taylor.
In the least creepy way possible I would do anything to have someone like you 😂
Corey Taylor and SlipKnot talents are underrated
I love Corey's voice and I love this song!
Corey is still the lead singer of Slipknot. He's always had his side projects such as Stone, sour, and CMFT, but he's still very much the front man for Slipknot
We love and miss you Paulie🤘🏽🤘🏽 Snuff is such a great song even for the homies need to cry.
from the guy that also brings you 'Spongbob squarepants'
Some others have already mentioned Corey x Slipknot already so i won't here but this song definitely has a duality to it for sure, one being about what happened to him (a divorce i think?) and two a tribute to Paul, one of the founding members of Slipknot.
If you like this style of Corey i'd definitely recommend checking out songs from his other band Stone Sour, the top ones i can recommend are definitely Through Glass, Song #3 either Studio or Acoustic (though i love the acoustic more) and Bother!
As always, stellar reaction Rachel!
With all due respect and courtesy , the song is as beautiful as the face that diverted my attention . Thank u for let the song runs .
Thank you for the reaction...I waited for your reaction to Snuff! 💯 awesome.
"it took the death of hope to let you go" and "angles lie to keep control" are the two greatest lines EVER
I've loved your definition of the song at the end
His vocal range is awesome 🏴
Used to?
Stone Sour is no more.
Seen them 2 weeks ago!! Effin amazing!
Awesome great for Corey nice reaction beautiful Rayactions 🤘
I haven’t this version in a long time and it made me tear up
That’s one reason why they initially wore the masks & had numbers rather than names so that way the music would be the main focus.
your face expresions are full of love, empathy, .......that's so cute :3
I love it how she starts off as usual, but then just gets mesmerized by this song...
Great nd incredible song!... and the perfect (with all due respect) segway into Pearl Jam's Even Flow!🤘❤🤟
he used to be in the band stone sour that are on a big break atm .. but he still have other projects and definitly still rocks with slipknot :)
Corey Taylor is still the lead singer of Slipknot. He leads the band Stone Sour, and he has his own personal music as well.
He's still the front man of slipknot but he says that he might only have 10 years left in him to keep touring.
Thank you for this reaction Raychel ❤
Such a powerful song!!
He is in band the whole time since they founded Slipknot❤
He didn’t leave slipknot, this song is actually a slipknot song, he just happens to do it in his solo tours…
There are shows where Corey breaks down crying playing this song, sometimes it’s dedicated to Paul Gray (Slipkots bassist).. it was their last single that they recorded with Paul as their bassist, and since then Corey had played this song in tribute to Paul, and and has even broken down in tears during the performance of this song because of the pain he felt due to Paul’s passing..
All of Corey’s singing, from the most guttural screams from the Iowa era, to this melodic masterpiece comes from Corey’s pain from past events and his life…
Corey is GIANT 🤩😎
Eyyyy... Corey Taylor is still leading vocalist in SLIPKNOT .
After 3 awesome songs by Slipknot, check out Vermilion part 1 and part 2 as an exended video. Or a two parter.
this song is so deep like my soul.
Corey and James are my favorite two male singers, it's not even close.
