There is a behind the scenes video where shawn (Clown) explains what the video is about and that each member decides how they want to die. My favorite is when Chris said birds because he is actually afraid of birds lol.
I am pretty sure that the video is about the way of death that they fear the most, not a choice of death.

I love how dark they go. The visuals are always on point. Did you catch who the two wheelchair pincushions were? The two newbs! Alessandro Venturella on bass (previously the guitarist of Cry for Silence) and Jay Weinberg on drums (previously from The Reveling, Against Me! and the son of American drummer Max Weinberg of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band). I love fun facts.

Fun fact: the current drummer is the son of Max Weinberg, the guy who drummed for and led Conan O'Brien's band (and Bruce Springsteen lmao). He's got a RUclips channel here (Jay Weinberg) and he has a ton of Drum Cams from live shows.
I love this slipknot song. I’ve always found it so hard yet so sonicly pleasing. But the video is definitely a distraction for new listeners. Live, it’s so dope. Clown throws down on a keg, and it just gets you pumped.

So the deaths in the video are them in their old masks, so they're killing their old selves to make way for this new chapter in the band. Then the two people in the wheelchair who get stabbed were the two new members that joined after Paul passed away and Joey left. So their "death" was their initiation into the band by the other band members.

@9 min referring to peeling the mask, i always saw that as his fear, not the explosion at the end. The fear being that hes nothing WITHOUT the mask and therefore the face underneath is meaningless, which I think is also why the mask and head remain intact after the explosion. Cool reaction vid!

Ok this video was symbolic, the 2 guys in the wheel chairs driving around are the new members being brought in the group while seeing what the original members are going through since the og bass player Paul grey died and the og drummer Joey jordison was diagnosed with Ms and had to leave the band. But each member is dying inside their own way
They wussed out with the dog. It's clearly friendly and not attacking him.

I am no longer your devil means that he is no longer being pushed by the devil to do things but that he is now the devil making himself do things.
This is the reason the song is not called The devil in me but instead The devil in I.
The devil in me denotes that an outside evil is with in him, but The devil in I denotes that he has become the evil in himself.
It is no longer an outside force manipulating him, but it has become a part of him.
The video is mostly them coming to terms with the fact that their old selves need to die, and they decide to give them a fitting end after everything is said and done. This was also after both Paul and Joey passed away (but before Chris departed) so the two in the wheelchair are the new members Jay (drums) and Allesandro (bass) and in the video they kind of "jump them in" as an initiation to joining the band. btw "jumping in" is what street gangs do to new members as an initiation rite, where they basically beat the hell out of you to see if you can survive or not. If you survive then you are in. Apparently in Slipknot, they stab you to death instead.
The devil in I is for everyone because we have all been there and are choosing to decide to try to be better

You should check out Stone Sour - Gone Sovereign/Absolute Zero. Corey Taylor's other band that he started before joining Slipknot. It also featured Slipknot guitarist James Root. He was a member from 1995-1997 and again from 2000-2014. They were on hiatus for 3 years between 1997-2000. Stone Sour are still recording and touring when Corey Taylor are not doing Slipknot. They have released 6 albums from 2002-2017

Someone in the comments said the deaths are based on their fears. I want to elaborate on 2 of them. The drummer and bassist. At this point they were very new ro the band. Joey Jordisen had quit the band, he as since passed away and their bassist Paul Grey had passed away. Im the video it shows them getting stabbed by the rest of the members. This is supposed to represent the pressure they of being able to fill the shoes of these legends.

I believe this is one of their cycles where they destroy their old personas with new masks, like in Psycho Social or Unsainted with the stabbing scene. This one is a little more hardciore than others.
