I’m doing a shower now, I’m really wanting to try this style of drain. I been using Kerdi bonded flange. This comes with everything and I love the idea of being able to cut pipe from top
I've been using the FloFx drains almost exclusively since they launched last year. I've yet to actually measure one to see if it's square. I think as tile guys we can easily square things up by eye, plus the drain carrier has plenty of play to fine tune it when ya tile it 😎
Concrete is not drying it hydrating. Cement absorbing water and makes glue for sand in that mix what we call concrete. That means concrete NEED water. Also good idea to put membrane on fresh concrete. Who ever try to remove concrete from wooden boards or something else, know how strong it holds... 😉
Concrete has curing process and also drying process but those are two different things. Many topical liquid waterproofing requires that concrete is dry enough when you install them. It can be rock solid but still too wet to coat with liquid waterproofing otherwise it will fail.
@@mr.wizeguy8995 I agree with you. But they use sheet membrane which stick to fresh concrete and this is good idea. For all others membranes concrete needs to be completely dry. Vapour will destroy it.
If I’m doing flofx and deck mud with a hydro ban on top, what do you do about where the flofx drain meets the deck mud? I would think I’d have to lap sheet membrane over the seam and hydro ban that? Or thin set the sheet membrane on to the bonding flange, I don’t trust just hydro banning or thin setting the bonding flange.
Interesting system. Did you put a pvc liner in between the mortar and subfloor? Also, I’d imagine water would get through the hydro sheeting over time and get into the mortar bed, does that flow fx drain have weep holes to allow water to pass underneath the drain. Lots of technicalities here.
Its a sealed system, not a water in water out system. No weep holes, no water will get through the membrane unless something catestrophic happens. It all directs towards the the drain
Hi Isaac. When putting in a mortar shower bed do you put your hardie walls in first and build the bed up to the walls or do you put the bed in first and build your bed first and then put the walls on top of the bed?
So I got an answer from Schluter on Kerdi-COLL Schluter-Systems North America Hi there, Kerdi-Coll was introduced in Europe to address requirements that simply don't apply to the North American market. North American standard construction methods differ from Europe. Here in NA, installers can assemble their showers using the same thin-set mortar throughout and have flexibility to use a thin-set mortar from their setting material manufacturer of choice as long as it meets the requirements called out in our installation handbook. Hope that helps.
The drain you installed looks like a more complicated and time consuming drain than any of the others you have installed. As an amateur I would be driving screws into the sub-floor leaving a spot for water leaks.
I love the workplace banter. I wouldn't make it through the day without it. You got a good crew Isaac.
Sincerely, I must say I dig the camera work in this video. It creates a sense of being involved with the work, really brings me into the situation.
Issac this is awesome what you have done for this woman and her family. Thank you
Literally just bought a FloFX drain for my master bath remodel because of you!
I love the blue and red of the uponor pipe. I like the long red piece of pex with no fittings. Very nice install.

FloFx are the best drains hands down
Glad to see the vid, as was missing y’all.
Thanks for sharing your life and experiences with us all.
Have a good one✌🏻
Can you show us the flood test on this job?
The world needs more actions like that

If the shower base is concrete how do you screw the for corners of the drain flange to get it level? Tapcons?
Where are the promised Flo FX linear drains?

Quick question tile coach, the 90° glass in this video that you ended up using, was it custom? And would it be over 1500 for the glass?

Love the floor tile
what type of stub out is that for shower head? Never seen that before. Very interested! Great job!

Is the mesh and glue on the back of the floor tile rated for water submersion?
Question can you use kerdi shower pan with backer board on walls?
Your videos are amazing! Any linear drains that glues direct to ABS for concrete floor shower?
I like to use cement board over the subfloor before I add my drain. This way I can cement down my motar bed to the floor.

Nice work! Do those screws you placed in the corners of FloFX drain get removed after you make the mortar bed or do they remain in place?
You can leave them in place, @Doug L thats one of the great features of those drains. I love them!
I have yet to use one… but all I hear are good things about them!
What about weep holes on this flow Flex
You don’t float your walls anymore? Is that just for saving time or were you getting fails floating the walls?
Also what’s the best way to square your walls using backer boards?

Where can I order the drain
9:00 "it would dry without air" Sadly drying and curing is two different thing.
awesome vid.
Still using pex in Cali huh?
Is it being banned in California? Or what's the issue?
Tile redi pans are much less work and much much more fail safe
Ok
