Thanks for the video and ideas. I have the Vecton 850 that is the same size as the 400/600 and mine is also mounted on the back wall. I have it mounted to a board that is itself mounted to the back wall. My pump is in the 3rd Sump Chamber (with Skimmer) and the output is in the Return Chamber where I also have dosing tubes.
I have found that the rubber seals and elbows can start to leak if the pipework is knocked. TMC suggest loosening and retightening the connectors.
The board is needed so that the pipework could clear the back of the Sump. It is L shaped, varnished and matches the size of the Vecton footprint. TMC don't recommend using any 3rd party elbows and I regretted using an Eheim elbow with an extra piece of their tubing. The extra weight was an issue, so I have replaced the tubing and used hot water to soften it and form a soft 90 degree curve. I have also fitted the tubing over the 3/4" fitting and (with effort) also over the 1" fitting - there are two cable ties for security.
You can't beat (moulded) tubing alone vs tubing and an additional elbow and extra joints. I found that tiny air bubbles could get injected into the output water from it. I'm hopeful that switching to "tubing alone" will fix it. So it is UV, supplied UV elbow, tubing and into the Return Chamber.
I have also started to remount the board further away from the cabinet wall using some spacers. I will also be cutting the bottom of the board with a V towards the front. It is almost inevitable that you will get some initial leaks when applying maintenance. I didn't want any water path that could lead to water being dumped (unseen) into the back of the Cabinet. The extra spacers ensure that the back of the unit and the edge of the board are over the open Sump - to be seen and quickly fixed.
I have found the UV unit to be excellent. Water clarity is fantastic and I have it to setup run slowly and contain/limit any parasites before there is a problem. Any issues with installation are of my own making and (hopefully) soon resolved.

I have this one also, never running a tank without UV again; it really does wonders. In fact I love UV so much that I am adding another one, adding Aqua Medic 36W UV.

I found that if I turn off the V2, it will not start back up unless I stop the feed pump. I stop the pump, turn on the sterilizer, then start the pump. Works every time, no idea why.

I have 2 return pumps on a 180, with a vecton 600 off each return pump. They work better if you have ALL the water traveling through the UV(s) and simply turn off the UV when food passes through.
I noticed you didn't cut off the hose tail barb. So you're not getting optimal flow through the unit. If you use 1 inch tubing, you cut off the levels of the hosetail barb beneath 1 inch (or whatever size tubing you run). So you're not forced to use the smallest piece on the barb. Those barbs are meant to take 1/2" all the way up to 1¼" tubing. I'd use bigger tubing, at least 3/4" and cut away everything below the 3/4" and clamp it. Personally I use 1" off each return pump.
You're seriously limiting the unit the way you have it installed. You can also order replacement barbs and elbows to start over.
Do NOT touch the crystal sleeve over the bulb with your fingers btw. That unit will NEVER clear up your tank running at such a liw fliw rate. If you're using it for algae, the unit can support 600 gal/hr. Ro eradicate algae, you want a faster turn over rate of your tank.

I just rang TMC they are going to send out a seal kit replacement.
I didn’t use the PTFE tape but I will give it go as they are sending out a replacement seal kit
I have aligned it up so many times but it’s not having it won’t stop leaking.
Seal is not cracked the thread on the pipe all good.

Would the water from the sump affect the uv?

@@Zokkii it has been in like a year and still seems to work fine. I need to change the bulb but moving house soon so will do it then. Might even plumb the tank return through the uv
