    Live in: Alabama, USA - And as a Southern Woman, we refer to Bacon Grease as “Liquid Gold” 😁
    NOTE:
    You had Flour Lumps I think… if the flour is added before any liquids using the grease from the bacon (may need to add a little bit more oil), add your flour and cook it for a min or 2 as this will get rid of raw flour taste and no lumps, then add all your liquids. Keep stirring slowly while adding your liquids this will produce a much smoother gravy

Chicken, potatoes, and cheese--all yummy ingredients that always end up in great combinations. I can see making this with penne or shell pasta instead of potatoes and mozzarella cheese for the cheddar. There is so much here to play with, depending on what you have on hand, which I like because I am not going to run to the store for a few ingredients. I like asparagus or broccoli on the side. Are we sure soy was a thing in Spain in the 60s? 🤔

    • @evelynformica8345
      @evelynformica8345 Месяц назад +6

      a bit of history and yes it has been, well before "the 60"s".... "Soy sauce: Worldwide, soy sauce is the most widely used and best known product made from the soybean. It is the defining flavor for many of the cuisines of East and Southeast Asia. Soy sauce arrived in many Western countries before the soybean, and before it was generally understood that the soybean was one of its main ingredients. We believe that soy sauce has the most interesting history of the many different soyfood products.
      Etymology of soy sauce in English:

      The words “soy,” “soya” and “soja,” and the term “soy sauce” came into English from the Japanese word shōyu via the Dutch. Thus, the name of the soybean was derived from the name of the sauce made from it.
      The first European language document in which the words for “soy” or “soy sauce” appeared was Dutch. Why?
      After 1633 (when the Portuguese were expelled from Japan by the Tokugawa shogunate), the Dutch were the only Europeans allowed to trade with Japan. Their trading activities, conducted by the Dutch East India Company (VOC), were limited to a tiny artificial island named Deshima in Nagasaki harbor in the south of Japan, far from the capital at Edo (today’s Tokyo). Among the goods the VOC exported from Japan were shoyu (soy sauce), miso, and saké.
      At first they exported these goods to VOC trading posts in Asia, but in 1737 they began exporting small amounts (via Batavia, today’s Jakarta, Indonesia) to Amsterdam, Netherlands, where they were auctioned to international merchants.
      All of the early Dutch documents that mention shoyu are handwritten letters, the originals of which are located at the VOC archives at The Hague, Netherlands. Soyinfo Center hired a Dutch researcher (Herman Ketting, who could read handwritten Dutch documents from the 1600s) to find and copy as many of these early documents as possible. We helped him to get on the trail by sending him 6-8 early citations from books on the history of Kikkoman.
      The Dutch merchants who exported shoyu in kegs from Japan did their best to spell it as it sounded - phonetically. Here is how that spelling evolved - based on documents now at Soyinfo Center; each appears in this book:

      1647 Oct. - soije
      1651 June - sooje
      1652 July - soij
      1652 Aug. - soije
      1652 Oct. - soije
      1652 Oct. - zoije
      1654 July - soijo
      1655 Aug. - soija
      1656 March - soeije
      1657 Aug. - soija
      1659 Aug. - soija
      1660 June - soije
      1665 Feb. - soija
      1669 Feb. - soija
      1669 Feb. - soija
      1674 Nov. - sooij
      1675 Nov. - soija
      1676 March - soija

    Those complaining about the time consuming tediousness of the video (read till the end) are missing perhaps the main point of the video. I’m guessing they think the recipe is the point 🤷🏻‍♀️ The recipe is the bonus, nothing more.
    *Fix: INCREASE the play back speed 😉

    • @parkerdonham6754
      @parkerdonham6754 Месяц назад +1

      No. The fix is to tighten up your videos. Make them snappier. Most especially,
      We don't need to see you cut up each and every potato, each and every tomato, each and every mushroom. It adds nothing and turns a 10-min. video into a 24 minute dirge.

    This looks amazing! Going to try this recipe. It also makes me want to go ahead with switching from buying pre-shredded cheese and buying blocks of cheese and doing it myself (something I’ve been considering).

    • @bonnys3015
      @bonnys3015 23 дня назад

      It's well worth the effort. Pre-shredded cheese is mixed with cellulose to keep it from sticking together. Freshly grated does not, so melting and flavor are not affected.

    Ea un plato muy fuerte, creo que se debe comer la mitad de lo que has echado en el plato. está muy rico, pero eso de la soja en los años 60 en España creo que no era común usarla ya que llegó sobre los 80 90 esa moda de la soja de los chinos y los japoneses, me ha extrañado, , lo demás si es típico de aquí. y está buenísimo . It's a very strong dish, I think you should eat half of what you put on the plate. It is very delicious, but I think that soy was not common in Spain in the 60s since it arrived around the 80s and 90s, that fashion for soy from the Chinese and the Japanese, it surprised me, the rest is typical. from here. and it is very good.

    Pro-tip: If you don't need complete rounds of bell pepper, just chop it in half longitudinally through the stem and you can pop out the stem and seed core with your hands, which has the benefits of being easier and wastes none of the flesh near the stem.
